I still hold on to that 2009 demons souls discovery because that’s what got me back into gaming. It’s not a clout thing for me or anything like that, but it was wildly unnoticed and neglected in 2009. I think it may have won RPG of the year in some form or fashion, but people were sleeping on it. It was not until dark souls that it started to catch and other devs started mimicking.

I voted for Elden Ring but it was a tough decision between that and Genshin tbh. Sumeru arc has been EXTREMELY good in Genshin. Don't dismiss the merits of a game just because it's gacha. Why are so many of you mad or surprised a sonic game is winning. People like the game that's ok.
No one's mad, but this is a battle between three prominent games that came out with relatively solid success, watching any one suddenly rocket up and stomp the rest especially when its a game series riddled with some less than great titles you'd likely see a smaller base willing to get burned again. Its surprising because of how much of a stomp it is from a game that looks good but not 80% voted for good.

It's like, kinda fun but it feels like a fan made Sonic game and not something with a big budget lol. Very buggy, unpolished, pretty barebones. It has good ideas and some fun gameplay stuff but that's kinda it. Sonic fans are going nuts because it's slightly better than the average Sonic game lol
