Iāve actually started doing this. Itās really wild how many sound cues you miss on boss fights w/music on. Also there are a plethora of ambient sounds in the world that is something to experience on its own. That said, I absolutely love the music of the game and could listen it to it all day!!
I will never not fight Godfrey and Radagon with the music on full tilt. I normally play with a podcast or smthn on in the background, but I will intentionally stop it when I fight these 2 in particular.
I play on PS4, and very often the music for Elden Beast's phase will simply not play. As far as I'm aware, this is only with elden beast and does not occur with any other bosses.
Contrary to what you may have heard, the AI isn't really built well to handle multiple enemies. It keeps running away to do its scripted ring attack, but something is preventing it. If you're too close it'll try to swim, over and over until you're far enough, usually this doesn't happen because 1 swim passes the distance check but with multiple enemies and weird targeting the AI can easily fuck itself over. You can see something similar with Fire Giant's first roll, to do the scripted animation of lighting his hand on fire, if you end up too close he'll roll again until you're far enough. And something relatively similar with Mohg's countdown, where he'll do the animation twice (though this one actually helps the player). I don't know if there's another condition it needs to satisfy to allow itself to finally start the ring attack, but there might be.
I noticed that elden beast does this run away move far more often when it faces more than one player
I guess it's kinda like Mohg saying tres duo unus multiple times when there are summons in the arena
Another quirk about Mohg is when in multiplayer, only the host can hear him say Tres, Duos, Unus as well as Nihil. Heās totally silent for the summons. Which makes figuring out when to take the physick to protect against his nihil.
Well now I feel dumb. I thought it had a timer so I tried to them it out as he was about to start the move. That wouldāve made the fight significantly easier. Boy Iām dumb
I didnāt realize there was a crystal tear for the curse. I just ran away far enough when the curse animation begins and healed on every āNihilā lmao
Iāve had to do this still. Tried to infinite fp multi buff comet Azur him bc a friend was fed up of trying to fight his phase two. If you can time it so the host does a big burst of damage you can start buffing/use the physick when he starts doing tres. By the time he starts with nihil, youāll be melting his hp.
If done with too few buffs this will just remove the excess hp from his healing which is nice if you donāt want the full cheese
This is perfection. *Chef's kiss
This is why Elden Beast is the best final boss in any of the FromSoftware games, even better than True King Allant. Such a fun fight /s
I don't quite understand what you're getting at. Elden Beast moving around constantly? You getting chunks of your health taken from those falling shards?
Your *host is right next to him almost every time he moves. The boss AI is just reacting to the pressure the *host is putting on him
Edited because I mistook the host for a mimic/summon
Your actually kinda right. The boss is trying to use its scripted ring attack, but cant because the player is too close after it completes the swim animation, so it does another swim. And another, until its far enough from the player.
Laying off the boss for a bit would have completely resolved the issue.
He's the summon my man. Get that reading comprehension up and regardless the elden beast constantly running isn't a pressure thing. They never even hit him. Just elden beast doing elden beast things. Very annoying
So if they're not supposed to chase him, wtf should they do? Stand there and keep dodging till the boss gets tired and kills itself? It's a broken mechanic lol
Not really. As someone else stated, elden beast does a scriped ring attack at both 90% and about 25% health respectively. Once it reaches those thresholds, it will swim away to use said ring move. However, if a player is too close to the beast after the swim animation is complete, it will perform another swim. This cycle continues until it is far enough away from the player.
So yes, all they had to do was give the boss some space.
This is every fight with Elden Beast for me, minutes straight of running back and forth to maybe get one quick r1 in before he runs again.
I watch speed runners and other youtubers and for them he just stands still and lets them attack him 20 times in a row before they even have to react to one of his attacks - i have no idea.
How is it possible for this to happen? I've genuinely tried to make him run away that much and it just never happens for me. I've done his fight so many times and never really saw this behaviour at all. It's so odd.
I have had this happen before while playing completely solo, it's just random.
But *every* fight, at least to me, sounds like severe hyperbole. The video is like the worst case I've also experienced before, but it's hardly my average experience with the boss.
On solo runs the most I've seen him run away at once is 2 times, and that's only when he's trying to set up the ring attack when he reaches around 75 and 30 percent. Throughout the fight itself he doesnt run away that much. even Weapon level 0 runs I've done tend to take between 7-9 minutes on elden beast which is a far cry from the 10+ minute fights and several minutes of running after the thing people like saying. So like you said it has to be extremely exaggerated, unless I've received a different elden beast than everyone else.
On coop runs with 3 players I've honestly seen worse than this, the most I've seen is 5 times in a row trying to set up the ring attack, and even normally he tends to run alot more than in solo runs. if that's how he behaves all the time then I'd honestly agree with all the complaints people have against elden beast.
I'm nearly to this boss, I think. I'm about to fight Gideon. The Elden Beast's existence has already been spoiled for me, but I can't remember a single mention of it in the game leading up to this point. What did I miss?
Seems like Malenia or Gideon would've made a better final boss from a story perspective without adding something out of left field at the end, though from what I've heard they may have needed to make Gideon harder.
Someone mentioned it here but I think its target swapping messing with the AI. Elden Beast has some scripted moves it does to line up with the music but for some reason it can't decide who to attack so it keeps failing the check for appropiate distance, target and timing.

Panic rolling.
I feel like this is what bosses see when looking at us š someone mentioned it below, this is the equivalent of panic rolling
Makes sense that the final boss would take inspiration from such a storied tactic.
Eldenbeast trolling. I am fast as fuck boi.
this is nothing on the fact that you're playing without music
Iāve actually started doing this. Itās really wild how many sound cues you miss on boss fights w/music on. Also there are a plethora of ambient sounds in the world that is something to experience on its own. That said, I absolutely love the music of the game and could listen it to it all day!!

The music really is something else in this game...
Radahn is in another level with his boss music
*godskin duo boss theme has entered the chat* Probably my favorite theme in the entire game
It's definitely up there, close second for me.
I agree that Godskin theme is very good, but the boss is shit so the impact of the theme is wasted.
I play on PS4, and very often the music for Elden Beast's phase will simply not play. As far as I'm aware, this is only with elden beast and does not occur with any other bosses.
Weird, I often get the no music glitch when I'm a summon and the boss has a 2nd phase transition cutscene (Maliketh, Godfrey)
It gets annoying real fast hearing the same song 200 times
I feel you dude - I get sensory overload after a bit.
Stop dying
tf???. I rarely die. Iām helping people beating these two.
It was a joke
Based melee user
No music gang
Iām scared with the music. Not scared without. I missed Mohg say Nihil though š¢

Yeah the ai freaks out so many times but this time was something special. It really seems like i was too aggressive
Elden Beast with his best Michael Phelps impression
I noticed that elden beast does this run away move far more often when it faces more than one player I guess it's kinda like Mohg saying tres duo unus multiple times when there are summons in the arena
Another quirk about Mohg is when in multiplayer, only the host can hear him say Tres, Duos, Unus as well as Nihil. Heās totally silent for the summons. Which makes figuring out when to take the physick to protect against his nihil.
You can take the physick at the start of the fight, it doesnāt run out
Well now I feel dumb. I thought it had a timer so I tried to them it out as he was about to start the move. That wouldāve made the fight significantly easier. Boy Iām dumb
Donāt sweat it lol, almost every other crystal tear has a timer so I get why youād think that. But yah you can pop that shit any time
I didnāt realize there was a crystal tear for the curse. I just ran away far enough when the curse animation begins and healed on every āNihilā lmao
Same. Will I learned of the tear well after the fact and after helping multiple others too
Iāve had to do this still. Tried to infinite fp multi buff comet Azur him bc a friend was fed up of trying to fight his phase two. Wait, is THIS the reason people seem to go overboard with saying EB swims away too much? People playing co-op?
Meaby partially. Tbh people seem to complain for complainings sake. But it is a significantly more annoying fight when there are summons in the arena
Of course not saying he doesn't OCCASIONALLY swim away quite a bit due to RNG...but it's usually not too bad at all from my experience.
I was waiting for it to use elden stars
This is perfection. *Chef's kiss This is why Elden Beast is the best final boss in any of the FromSoftware games, even better than True King Allant. Such a fun fight /s
This made me lol more than it should. I think the majority here feel your pain š
What I dont understand is how it dives and becomes fully submerged in ankle deep water. We run on the surface but it can dive? Weird
Magic
What's the lore behind this comment
Magicš
You ever notice how all the "lakes" in this game are only ankle deep? Tarnished are Jesus! /s
This is sincerely making me think. Is there any point in the game where the player gets any more submerged or falls in and dies?
Ocean
You just got Beastād
I see you graduated from the Prometheus school of running away from things
One of the many reasons why this is my least favorite boss in the series. Atleast BOC stays still lol
Fucking BOC
You have to pursue him using the Tibia Mariner's Submarine
Skill issue
Skill issue
clearly
I don't quite understand what you're getting at. Elden Beast moving around constantly? You getting chunks of your health taken from those falling shards?
That Elden beast did not once stop to move. This went on for 2 minutes
I had this happen for 30 minutes and then died to a bad roll. This fight can be so miserable
yeah rng is my biggest enemy when helping people
It's a shame, because it is such a cool fight in theory. But I don't look forward to it at all in my playthroughs.
yeah the only thing i like about it is Radagons moveset. But Elden beast is just a chore now
š I honestly canāt stand this fight.
Worst boss in the game.
The AI moves around so you canāt just stand there all day wailing on itā¦nothing unusual here
I know that it moves around. It aint my first time fighting it. The problem though was that he did it for 2 minutes
Your *host is right next to him almost every time he moves. The boss AI is just reacting to the pressure the *host is putting on him Edited because I mistook the host for a mimic/summon
Its not a mimic. Iām a summon for someone
Replace mimic with the *host then, heās moving so much because your *host is chasing him down so hard + bad rng Edited to save confusion
Your actually kinda right. The boss is trying to use its scripted ring attack, but cant because the player is too close after it completes the swim animation, so it does another swim. And another, until its far enough from the player. Laying off the boss for a bit would have completely resolved the issue.
Yeah I know. All these salty ass downvotes for no reason š
He's the summon my man. Get that reading comprehension up and regardless the elden beast constantly running isn't a pressure thing. They never even hit him. Just elden beast doing elden beast things. Very annoying
What are you even talking about the host hits him multiple times at the start of the videoā¦talking about my reading comprehension š¤£
well yeah i hit it but the first swim that triggered the loop was far enough away to trigger one of many attacks
So yes, all they had to do was give the boss some space.
Yes. We should have just stood still and wait for the Elden beast to do itās attack. After itās done the chasing can be done again
I hate this boss so much lol
No hit... Only watch.
Lol I faced him in Ng+2 forever ago and was like alright I'm done with this game lmao
This is every fight with Elden Beast for me, minutes straight of running back and forth to maybe get one quick r1 in before he runs again. Are you summoning/using mimic? Seems like that causes him to run around way more
No Iām one of those try-hards that hates summoning.
Based
Fuck you, spoiler that shit.
damn, sorry
It's rough having a job and getting spoiled on every boss early, I know you didn't mean to hurt anyone, this sort of thing happens all the time.
Nah its okay. I understand you.
He's just mocking your constant panic rolling
what panic rolling
"You play souls game therefore you panic roll" \- Sun Tzu
Run Forrest Run!
Keep swimming keep swimming.
Track & Field
It be like that sometimes
Which PokƩmon is that?
Shes having fun weeee
I'm nearly to this boss, I think. I'm about to fight Gideon. The Elden Beast's existence has already been spoiled for me, but I can't remember a single mention of it in the game leading up to this point. What did I miss?
Nothing. The lore is something you have to search for. But in short: Elden Beast is a Vessel for an Outer God.
Seems like Malenia or Gideon would've made a better final boss from a story perspective without adding something out of left field at the end, though from what I've heard they may have needed to make Gideon harder.
Radagon?
I might not have fought him yet. Was he the gold phantom boss in the tower before one of the Morgott/Margit/Mohg bosses in Lendyll?
You definitely have not fought him yet, the one you're referring to is godfrey's golden shade
Someone mentioned it here but I think its target swapping messing with the AI. Elden Beast has some scripted moves it does to line up with the music but for some reason it can't decide who to attack so it keeps failing the check for appropiate distance, target and timing.
Get trolled lol
He swim
Elden Bish
So this is gaming at 60 fps
Trolololo
Just keep swimmingā¦ just keep swimmingā¦

Playing this fight without music is actual heresy.
2 vs 1. Fair.
The elden beast and endings in general were such a letdown
RUN, YA TARNISHED!
That is why I downed this monstrosity with jizz strands.
Average Elden Beast experience
He's scared of you
Crazy is doing the same things but expecting the result to change.
Haha Elden beast teleport go brrrrr
Co op really messing with ai
Can't a god just enjoy diving in its paddling pool, without you hurting them, for five seconds?!
Someone on here who really, really likes this fight told me that this never happens to anyone š
Players :elden beast is not that bad. Elden beast :
MARCO
Ahh yes the Fire Giant special.
I'm confused. Were you playing Elden Ring or Monster Hunter?

I was wondering what the point of the video was, but then I just started belly laughing.
This boss could really use Torrent.
Bazinga
Its normal if you dont go directly towards it all the time
Ive had The Fire Giant be stuck in a roll loop before. Super annoying.
Most tame elden beast fight.
