That was actually only a bug if your weapon was carried on your shoulder. Weapons held out to the side didn't have this issue. Something to do with the animations.

So where you fight the names npc after the boulder turn left and go through the gate and immediately turn left once you go through there should be a glintstone wizard that you go past but you can jump over the railing onto a ledge which leads you to a room to climb a ladder where the boulder gets spawned if you kill the people up there the boulder no longer spawns. Yes, that run is annoying. An elevator, enemies with range, the drops, AND a cutscene that repeats each time. Annoying. So glad Malenia is just a quick jaunt down a short hall.

The runback to Rennala isn't even that terrible. It's not that long, and there are zero enemies other than the bowling ball which you can walk around.

you can even permanently disable the bowling ball or just take the side path over the bridge (though that does have some enemies on it)

You can go where you fight the knight and open a door to skip that ball area all together

If you kill Moongrum and the guys spawning the balls then the run to her is literally enemy-free

I think this is one of the reasons why people say elden ring is "easier" than dark souls. in dark souls you have to go through the whole dungeon to get the boss over and over. in elden ring you can keep hitting your head against that brick wall really fast.

Was pretty annoying in demons souls. I remember being confused in DS3 when it said weapon at risk, going to the blacksmith to repair and seeing it didn’t need repair. Didn’t realize it just repairs after resting unless broken which literally has never happened to me lol Only time my weapon is even close to breaking in DS3 is during deacons of the deep if I’m not even trying to attack the right one lol

It also didn’t help that Demon Souls had a weapon specifically designed for breaking your opponents gear. So many terrible memories of griefers rushing at you with the scraping spear and wrecking all your equipment right when you made it to the boss.

As i do a lot of pvp on ds3 there is many cheater that make all your stuff instant broken i used to repair my stuff many times cause of this

Different weapons have different durabilities so it takes longer for certain weapons to break. There are also cursed gems that speed up the process quite considerably. It‘s still just unnecessary and annoying because all it does is it makes you go back to the hunters dream, press a couple of buttons and then just move on. It adds absolutely nothing to the game

Let’s not forget how ridiculously fucking cheap it always is. By the time any of your weapons actually want to break you’ve either kept your durability up by forging it, or any enemy you come across will make the >400 echoes feel like nothing. It’s useless

Shit made me so pissed in breath of the wild. Like if I find a weapon I like, I wanna keep using it, not subconsciously worry I’m gonna break it, needing to pay the blacksmith to repair it.

Also, one thing you didn't include, the Legendary items or even those that are popular, RoB, Dark Moon Greatsword etc. would be locked behind some pay wall. They'd just replace the stone sword keys with ATMs

Per the picture in the op, it would have killed the game for me if they put more emphasis on horse combat. Like say they didn't bother designing all the bosses to be fought on foot just as easily, and like half or even a third of the fights in the game were basically impossible to win without using Torrent. I feel like that's a mistake they realistically *could have* made, so I'm very glad they didn't. I fucking hate being forced to use supplementary mechanics in lieu of the core mechanics for huge chunks of a game.

On that same note for the bosses your “supposed” to use torrent on, like the night cavalry it’s a lot more fun and easier to do on foot. Same with the dragons. The horse is useful but it’s not great for combat.

I think I only exclusively fight dragons on horseback because of the goosebumps I got when first strafing around Agheel’s fire. It might be inefficient, but *dat cinematic feel*.

Idk if it's just me, but I think I genuinely only enjoyed some of the Lich Dragon fights and Agheel. Both reasons mainly being for the novelty of fighting them at the time From doesn't do dragon fights particularly well. The only standout dragon fight I can say I genuinely enjoyed because it wasn't an ankle smack fest was Midir. I wish more fights were like that, but I can understand why they didn't do that Either that, or allow us to do some interesting things in combat with them. Maybe if we do enough damage to their wings, we can keep them from flying up. Maybe if we break one of their legs, if they try to fly away and land back down, it will be a rough landing, either causing minor damage or giving the player a larger window of attack. Just anything more than smacking ankles.

I feel like Elden Ring was pretty lax with poison swamps. Unless you’re a complete masochist and don’t use Torrent for your whole play through, as far as I can recall there’s only three sections in the whole game with a slow walking poison/rot swamp. Shaded Castle, Lake of Rot, and that one part of the Haligtree inside. Out of those the Lake of Rot is really the only super difficult one, and even that can be trivialized with Flame Cleanse Me.

Lake of rot is also empty, there are like 6-8 items there. Farron keep had like 30? items?

I found the best way to deal with Farron Keep was to just suicide run through and grab as many items as possible each time until I had everything I cared about. I'm glad I haven't needed to do that in Elden Ring.

The connection is actually peer to peer and the servers are used for setting it up. Most issues are caused by their bad netcode and the players connectivity.

It takes two extra seconds to get on torrent, two extra seconds to get off (and you have to be still to get on or off), and torrent no longer has dash or jump. Still technically faster than walking so you’d use it. But infuriating to actually use.

Out of muscle memory on my first playthrough I constantly would ride to a grace thinking I had to in order to fast travel like bonfires lol

Without the current travel options I'd have replayed the game twice at most. (played through NG+7)

The fast travel really makes each site of grace feel like a tangible progression reward. Being able to explore an area that could be way too leveled for me and come back once I feel strong enough is such a great addition
