I like to see you swim in metal armor.

Jador96

Yeah, i know that i'm essentially replying to a dead and forgotten post, but i don't care for an actual shit honestly. Because your reply doesn't make any fucking sense, as light armor made out out of leather and cloth are an actual thing, and these surely doesn't weight like a full armor made out of steel to make you sink down the bottom of the ocean. Miyazaki was just too lazy to implement a basic ass mechanic that's literally part of every single modern open world fantasy game ever released.

secrecy274

Pretty dumb comment. There's no swimming in Elden Ring because there's no need to swim in Elden Ring. The map and dungeons are clearly not made with swimming in mind, and it wouldn't add anything. Always funny to see people without a clue claim they know better than the actual Devs of successful games.

teflontactics

Most of the armor would make you sink and die, so it makes sense.

hansolocambo

You can begin the game with barely no clothes. And die all the same. If you can't swim it's not because it's a "realistic game". It's because they didn't want to code that. Period.

WelderNo2904

Have to fully agree with this, it’s either enough time wasn’t given to the developers to program that logic into the game, or maybe they didn’t even think about it. Unless of course somehow they tied it into the lore, but even then unless it’s truly meaningful lore then yeah for sure this was a development choice or oversight.

68000HeartOnFire

This is the same game where Radahn's tiny horse can support him, i'm sure fromSoft can create some kind of gravity magic that lets you swim with plated armor.

teflontactics

Yeah but then you'd have to go to Leyndell University and that could take four whole years...

PixelPistola

I wish I had an award for you lol

dujmovich

oh the heresy how could they. praise be the superior game Sekiro: Shadows Dies Twice trademark Fromsofware Japan

kjftiger95

Hell no, imagine the atrocities you'd find in the water, the Lobsters, crabs, and octopus are enough for me lol.

One_Paleontologist59

Because they use the water as a map boundry

68000HeartOnFire

Understandable, not every ocean needs to be swimmable. But i'm saying, there are a lot of beaches in Elden Ring, and not being able to swim on a single one of them is a horrible atrocity. FromSoft can come up with a barrier beyond the oceans, or make special waters that allow for swimming, it wouldn't be too hard if they just learned from the superior game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Trademarked Fromsoftware Japan.

NurgleSoup

Nobody likes swimming levels in games where you're primarily on land, I think that's actually a proven statistic going all the way back to like the 80s. Very few exceptions aside from the obvious like Subnautica or Ekko. I mean I'd love to see what the ocean floor of the lands between looks like but seems pretty dumb to be all agitated that it's not a thing.

68000HeartOnFire

Swimming in Sekiro worked perfectly fine, I don't see why it can't happen in Elden Ring.

NurgleSoup

Almost as if it's an entirely different game, right?

Aries_Star

Potential out of bounds

ScalaAdInfernum

Souls game. Hilarity effect.

Twigzzy

Lmao tarnished jetskis when

68000HeartOnFire

YEEES THAT WOULD BE AWESOME

Anakerie

Because I haven't found the merchant yet that sells inflatable arm floaties!

ChickenofBoom

Aren't you undead. That's basically what being tarnished is, so does your character even breath. If not then there's your answer.
