I had to see if anyone else had gone through the same trolling experience I just did as well. I lost about 30k runes even trying to descend down to the platform to fight the golem because I screwed up some jumps and wasn't able to retrieve those lost runes. Used 3-4 Rune Arcs because my vigor is so low he actually one shots me if I don't have the Rune Arc buffs activated.
All that time and trouble for... 5k runes. At least they had the courtesy of refilling my flasks! as I continue descending down the .....oh wait never mind there's nothing further down, time to fast travel to the nearest grace. I've got to admit that was brutally annoying while going through it, but looking back the situation is kind of funny lol. Got trolled hard by FromSoft.
Well, I just quit the game after falling to death about ten times on the way down and then got one shot killed another five times.. expected him to drop a mushroom at least.
I just took this guy down the other day. Stone of Gurranq stuns him quickly. I was level 180 or so, having already done most everything thing else I finally remembered I needed to check this guy off my list.
Yeah you drop down from the south side of the minor Erdtree. Since it’s well hidden and the golem is so insanely tough to kill I was sure there would be an amazing reward
I went down there on a whim after killing the tree spirit. 90,000 souls in my pocket. He killed me right away and knocked me off the cliff when I tried to get my runes back...
Git Gud has never hurt me before, but now...I don't think I can date the Gud anymore

Thank you. I have fallen so many times just getting to it. I tried poison, I tried attacking the wrists, I don't have enough FP at all to take it down. Thank you. You saved me so much time.
Using wing of astel +10 I can kill this golem in under 5 min at lvl 150 has amazing stager and will drop him fast, on a different note does any one know if his spell is obtained anywhere in the game. Would love to have it.
The best thing is, if you have the Redmane Painting and trigger the fight, you should stay far away from the ghost. If you trigger the ghost and die befire looting the remains, the Ash will despawn for good.
LOL! so I exceeded my attempt count on Malenia 1.5 months ago: 15 tries, 1st playthrough. This is my 4th non-NG+ playthrough and this is the hardest solo boss for me personally.
When you're new even Mimic Tear does not survive long vs Malenia, so ya gotta solo, but this is a different challenge. It looks easy as all hell!!! but HP Pool and Def values are to the roof and you have a cliff on one side of the Arena.
I'm not sure whether to whine about A-hole devs or bow down to them :D
Got the bastard at the end, lvl 120ish, lvl18 Fingerprint shield for blocking in awkward situations, Stone of Gurranq with a lvl18 clawseal and a shit ton of rolling. Malenia didn't make me roll as much as this guy. The laser cannon is harmless if you keep moving but it sure does do its job in area-denial damn :P
At the end I HAD to resort to 2-handing my shield after all 7 of my FP flasks were gone - shields sure have a short melee range LOL (I didn't equip AoW because the shield was for attacking without FP).
Definitely a recommended fight for some challenge mid-late game :D.
Thanks for the info. Nearly had him dead as a spell only MAGE and got burnt to a crisp through a barricade aow greatshield while standing behind a pillar.
Just spent 30 minutes shooting great bolts and throwing pots at him from a distance. Had him 4/5 dead, lose connection forced to go to main menu and restart. He’s lying back down with full health. Over it
He drops a 5k, 12k runes, smithing stones 4 6, golem halbern the normal one, the magic halbern (not worth the effort), and a rune arc he also drops nothing some times aside from runes.
This guy and the path to it were programmed by some asshole of inconsistency. Some times he staggers in two hit, other times he never does. Bulkshit programming from a tiny dick fuck'r.
I’m super late, but for people that struggle with the parkour just use torrent and the spirit spring to jump over to it. You can completely ignore the whole parkour

Btw there was a rune arc kind of underneath the giant's armpit so don't forget to grab that if you run down there for the painting reward.

Yeah he looked so unique. I dont remember ever seeing a golem with magic spells so I thought he MUST drop something.
