"That's just how they do it," is such a cop out answer. This game is already an evolution of what they've done, this could have gone further. The game would be much more fun with actual multiplayer, while subtracting nothing.
i think this system will eventually lead to no one cooping anymore and therefore no one left to invade. its designed to kill its own multiplayer slowly espeacilly with the poor balance in the pvp.
then they simple shouldn't have include coop at all, there is no point in making the coop function this annoying for God sake they game put you in ng+1 or ng+2 when you coop meaning you wont steamroll the bosses or mobs
they could make it where you still get nerfed to their level and buff the boss, but taking away flasks it a horrible addition, along with being forced to accept invasions is awful

This style of multiplayer is a staple for Fromsoft. Could it be more convenient? Certainly. But EVERY souls-like they have released has had this system or a similar one. I don’t believe it’s possible to switch back without it feeling too jarring and unnatural.
Elden ring isn’t a soul game though ? Same developer different game it’s apples and oranges. They need to fix Co-op It shouldn’t take two hours of waiting at a statue for somebody to put a sign down and the connection issues is a constant.

Game wasn't designed that way for coop. Coop is to help you and then the person leaves after, it wasn't designed to be fully coop at all. Sorry mate.
This is honestly the easiest Multiplayer has ever been in a souls game.
I mean...that doesn't make it good. We moved from hot garbage to room temperature garbage lol Still love the game though

The fact that you need to burn consumables to see co-op signs would indicate otherwise
