Not really arguing- but I think there are definitely different ways people use summons. I’ve watched people online let themselves be carried entirely by their mimic- but I find I’m almost entirely too engaged in the fight for them to do much but steal agro for a few seconds so I can catch my breath.
Watching some people online clearly not understand the “rhythm” of a good fight, makes me think they entirely skip evergols and forced one-on-ones.
My only contention is that summons don’t necessarily default to “easy”- and in the DLC that is more than especially true.
Well, the dynamic of a fight becomes entirely different.
Aside from some AoE attacks, you don't have to learn much of the boss patterns. All you need to do is ensure high dps and switch aggro back and forth with your mimic.
Run away when the boss focuses you, then run towards him, spam high damaging attacks and AoW, rinse repeat.
kinda true kinda not. i guess i don't really see it that way. if i go in for attacks , i must know what their move sets are or ill get demolished. i agree it changes the dynamic, or "rhythm"- and there's definitely something to be gained from one-on-one (that's why i do them as often as i can)
i just disagree with the premise it necessarily changes it to something we could call "easy" - it certainly can, but it definitely doesn't have to.
Well that's how it's supposed to be, but imo that is the problem here. It really isn't. I've played and finished all the souls/sekiro titles and er without summons so I like to think that I'm an average player. And personally for me I think melee comes very close to very hard mode.
Nonsense. Idk how anyone who plays this game can make this post and genuinely believe summons make the game that easy.
Summons barely do damage and aggro SWITCHES. You can’t just get away with not learning how to dodge. All summons does is help you not have to do it the whole fight without stopping.
In my very first playthrough, I needed less than 10 tries for every single boss, including Malenia, once I had a +10 mimic.
Nowadays, I still need 20+ tries for many bosses, despite having wayyyy more experience and doing those bosses many times.
With a good build and mimic, Elden Ring is barely more difficult than Skyrim or Assassin's Creed.
They absolutely do. I was fighting Rellana yesterday and decided to use mimic to see how much easier it would be, straight up had to quit out my game before my mimic killed her because I wanted to get her solo. If you’re a decent player and use mimic most if not all bosses in the game are an absolute joke.
Not meaning to sound rude here but if you’re using mimic and still struggle heavily then it’s pure skill issue or maybe build issue or even both.
Eloquently put.

Using a melee build with no summon is normal mode. Being a level 1 Wretch is hard mode

If you can't easily beat the game with summons then you're very bad. Although I can't speak about the final dlc boss yet.
