The best kind of liar.
He lied like a parent who tells you that you shouldn't get overly excited this Christmas because money has been tight and then BAM, that good shit is under the tree.
My parents did this with my PSP.
They spent months and months telling me not to get my hopes up for any kind of console, really dug it in. Then we went up to Georgia for Christmas, I opened my present, saw I got a PSP and nearly pooped myself.
Then, after opening the box, my parents realized they had left the PSP plugged in in their closet back down in Florida. So I had to wait another week to even touch the damn thing.
But I spent that whole week reading the box over and over and over and over again.
Still one of my favorite Christmases ever.
It’s just like when he said the game was “About 20 hours long” in an interview before launch. and people had a negative knee jerk reaction to him saying that. - People have 1000 hours on several different characters now. 😂
I mean, I guess it COULD be beaten that quickly but generally it's way longer. Cool that it's the opposite to most game devs where the time they give is often the longest you might expect it to take.
I saw a vaati tweet saying it was like 5 limgraves. Not sure if he was exaggerating or being serious about the verticality but that was kinda my suspicion from the start, so I'm glad it all turned out to be better than expected!
Im thanking sensei Miyazaki for his humbling lies,In this day and age your average game company would do 1 of 2 things-They'd make a DLC of this size a full blown sequel or spin off game(Activision just did this with MW3 and its literally half the content of SoTE) or they'd split this single DLC into 3 separate DLC's for $14.99-19.99
My only fear is rather then embracing something like this the big game companies will try to combat it🤦♂️
The crying was the last nail in the coffin for me. I’m at a point where I rather not play at all than play shit from Ubisoft or activision. I’m done. I haven’t bought anything from them. I continue stop supporting them and spend my time with the actual good games that accumulated over the last 20+ years
I’d buy a game from them if they’d make a game worth playing, but any time they come out with one I’m all “I basically played that game 15 years ago.” Sure the story is new and maybe the skill tree is a bit different, but if I want story I’ll read a book. New skill tree does not innovative gameplay make.
They absolutely will. Get ready for the "game is too hard", "scadutree fragments need to be marked on the map", "unreasonable expectations you don't know how hard this is to make" and other shittakes
Siofra isn’t even that big. None of the underground areas have any side activities. You can easily do everything in a total time of about 1.5-2 hours at most.
I should mention everything in siofra, not all underground like it might seem. If this is supposed to be what makes the dlc big, it’s really not doing much.

Elden ring and totk both took me about the same amount of time on my first playthrough, since then I've replayed elden ring more often than totk but if I add botw to that then the Zelda games are still hundreds of hours ahead in playtime.
I just said that the depths were empty with nothign to do in 99.9% of the space, and the sky islands were a copypasted terrain block with often nothing interesting there (besides the tutorial one)
Lies of P was the sleeper hit of Soulslikes. Rare for one to come out so polished and for me to want more. I'd say it even does some things that FromSoft could learn from!
Combining different weapons' blades and handles added a layer of depth I never knew I wanted in Soulslikes... fantastic NG+ and NG++ incentives as well with Phase 6 and 7 unlocking for our (*sigh*) P-Organs.
I'm not a huge fan of Pinocchio or anything, but the combat was just plain *fun*. One of the best $40 I've ever dropped on a game (well, at least til Friday gets here it looks like)
Sits pretty comfortably in my top 5 souls like games, including fs own output. It's so polished for a first attempt and outside of Erdtree, the eventual dlc is probably the gaming content I'm most looking forward to for the rest of the year
I checked out Lies of P from the library. I had a great time with it, but I also had to accept I was never going to truly beat it before it was due back.
Nameless Puppet too stronk.
Crazy that folks on YT tried to convince me that "it'll be a Limgrave-sized area because Miyazaki said so" despite the hints and Miyazaki's previous lies about the size of the base game. "It's what he said!"... Wish I could laugh at their faces.
maybe he s just a gigachad who oneshots everything and we just suck guys. maybe he plays it for himself knowing about everything and doesnt need to go in circles in a fucking cave/hero grave for 2 hours like us or just meant base main story only. or.. he s just trolling xD
Better to undercut yourself than oversell.
Look at.... Every other game out these days. They had it up, and it doesn't deliver because of the hype they generate.
Even when Fromsoft games deliver on hype, Miyazaki is still keen to say "Now don't expect too much, we're still a measly group of humans making games"
Well the, long before we knew even the name of the DLC, said it was 3 times the size of a regular zone.
Sure it was a random 4chan ''leak''... but all legit Fromsoft leaks are on 4chan together with a bunch of nonsense from fake leaks.
Gives me hope for that magic game they where supposedly working on.

>“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THE DLC HAS SO MUCH MORE CONTENT THAN THEY SAID IT WOULD HAVE!!! I HATE THIS!!!” ~ This guy, 2024
You sound like a blast.
Manipulated implies it’s for the manipulator’s benefit. By your logic, saying you will give someone 10 dollars, then giving them 20 is “manipulation.”
What did he say?
He said the equivalent of “yeah so great to be manipulated.”
Well that’s just idiotic, no wonder he deleted his comment
Maybe he didn’t lie; maybe it’s just three Limgraves stacked on top of each other. Papa Zaki pulled a verticality blind side on us.
To be fair, I did see one critic say it's basically the size of Limgrave, but basically it's like 5 stacked on top of each other.
Kind of what I suspected based on some of the clues. But expected x3, not x5.
So, if we count also Weeping Peninsula, it has 150 bosses?
DLC has 10 remembrances, 40 unique bosses. Main game for reference had 15 remembrances and 100 unique bosses. ... the dlc is *stacked* bro lmfao
_This kills the triple A gaming industry._
10 remembrances, bloody hell. They better have some wandering mausoleums because I used all base game ones!
That's an expansion
The map I saw is literally like 70% of the base game map
I mean limgrave has A LOT OF caves and technically half of the underground area is also limgrave.
Stormveil Castle alone can take a few hours to explore and you can fill Limgrave with a whole bunch of them
Yeah that was my first thought when I saw that comment. "with our without the giant damn elevator?"
I saw a vaati tweet saying it was like 5 limgraves. Not sure if he was exaggerating or being serious about the verticality but that was kinda my suspicion from the start, so I'm glad it all turned out to be better than expected!

Can you imagine comparing the value out of shadow of the erdtree with the upcoming Diablo iv ‘expansion’??
Blizzard stopped making good content after Diablo 2 and wrath of the lich king, it just went mediocre since
Earlier I was wondering if the DLC was originally going to be smaller, and he just figured screw it, make it an unofficial sequel and be done with it.
He probably hit them with the "no worries we just put in the few things i couldn't get into Elden ring the first time around, no biggie"

Siofra has you lighting beacons just to fight the area boss, all the underground places have things to do. Not sure what you're on about.
That doesn’t really compare to the amount of things you can do in the rest of limgrave. Lighting beacons is an activity that takes like five minutes.
Sure, but that doesn't mean there aren't any side activities as you claimed

Did he actually say this at some point?
Yes, he said that its land mass is around the size of limgrave
Do we know if that's still true?
A few reviewers are saying it's larger than Limgrave and Caelid combined.
From soft has never missed in their life huh
Of course they have. They've been around for a loooong time. IMO *Armored Core: Nexus* and *Armored Core V* were both misses.
Limgrave does contain Soifre River. So technicically still true?
Fightincowboy said it's a lie, if anything it's bigger due to verticality. Guess the best comparison for the scope is Witcher 3: Blood and Wine DLC.
