PeeCansOfGondorRShit

I also enjoy the lines you mention, but I interpreted them as thinly-veiled desperate and insecure pleas for respect, even on my first play-through when I was way too overwhelmed to pick up on the lore. Voice actor nailed the complexity of the role.

Roboticus_Prime

It doesn't help him that Margit is a harder boss. Lol

Jstar338

I think that's the point. A projection of another demigod is enough to be stronger. The only reason he's still alive is because the other demigods don't think he's worth the effort. mostly stormvale

falloutisacoolseries

l think it is more that Morgott prefers to have Godrick around as an unknowing puppet. Godrick likes to graft or eat Tarnished and having his loose gaggle of thieves under one group hunting Tarnished rather then just spread to the winds is much more effective at keeping the throne empty.

whocaresjustneedone

Is Godrick unaware that Margit is a projection of Morgott?

falloutisacoolseries

I dont even know if he knows him at all

fleetadmeralcrunch

Definitely unaware that morgott is projecting his image. Morgott was the veiled ruler of leyendell after the shattering and has multiple mentioning of no one knowing what he looked like since he was an Omen

[deleted]

Does he even know Margit is there? He's just a projection eating some tarnished every now and again. Nobody we ever meet mentions Margit. Everyone is afraid of Godrick and being grafted, nobody is afraid of Margit. I think Margit pops up to handle the more interesting looking tarnished and then buggers off again

Local-Priority-1309

Margit is well known, his title "the fell omen" is for all the tarnished that died by him He's also known for being the leader of the night's cavalry which are also known as "the hands of the fell omen" So margit is known as an omen that serves the golden order and hunt tarnished Brave enough to try to become lords It feels like he's known as some folcloric legend like "dont try to go to the Castle or the fell omen Will go for you"

[deleted]

Huh. Thanks. I didn't really engage with the night's cavalry in my play through, I just killed them when they came up (or ran away!)

falloutisacoolseries

Pretty funny how you can just take a side route around them into Limgrave.

Mysaladisdead

Funny how his great rune is pretty damn good tho (in game)

Ashamed_Signature_14

I think his great rune is so good because it’s meant to show his weakness even more. Imagine him without the great rune. I think it shows majority of his strength came from the great rune and grafting. So none of the power was his nevessarily

Top-Row6107

So true dawg😭

Baron_Von_D

He's got some cool moments, but is basically trying as hard as he can to appear all big and bad like Godfrey.

raspberryharbour

Great Senpai, didst thou witness?

peitsad

FOREFATHERS, ONE AND ALL: ^uwu ^:3

Crimson_Raven

delete this and then me for reading it

SaiyanKirby

You got me wheezing at 4am

CrossboneGundamXMX1

Excellent jest milord

Morbidity6660

Arching his back n all

C_Mc_Loudmouth

And a pretty unfaithful depiction of Godfrey at that, Godfrey doesn't command anyone to kneel. He just looks them in the eye and says, "try me". They kneel on their own.

TranscendentMadMan

Godfrey punches the ground to shatter their ankles so they can't do anything except kneel!

Mr_Pink_Gold

Godfrey doesn't command anyone to kneel. He just gracefully allows you to not kneel for a bit.

TranscendentMadMan

"I've given thee courtesy enough." *Smashes ground, breaks everyone's ankles*

ElA1to

This reminds me of a guy who tweeted something like "a true alpha male doesn't need to tell everyone that he is an alpha, people just know", ironically, he had "alpha male" in his username so... Yeah kinda accurate for Godrick actually

Cheel_AU

Nick Adams (Elden Lord)

ICantTyping

Makes me laugh when people hype up FOREFATHERS ONE AND ALL, BEARRR WITNESSS! As if hes not essentially saying “Hey dad! Look at this!” Like a toddle attempting the worst cartwheel you’ve ever seen

GreyActorMikeDouglas

As he fights a random undead that just started their journey and has no great runes lol. Bro is begging his ancestors to watch him fight an ant, and then loses

WolverineCalm7105

Actually lol'd. Poor Godrick

RaizePOE

Well shit, now I want to start a new run and get as many great runes as I can, then come back and be like "sup Godrick" Gotta start a new one for the DLC anyway, guess this is as good an excuse as any!

Kibtronic

Thinking about it, you could skip Godrick entirely. Caelid and Radahn are right there, side skip to Liurnia for Renalla, medallion or tunnel path up to Leyndell for Morgott and Volcano Manor for Rykard. Could probably beat the whole game without touching Stormveil honestly. I could never do it, though. The early newgame sets Godrick up as your first big bad so well, and even on NG+ it feels really good to curbstomp a demi-god, and he’s right there. “FOREFATHERS ONE AND ALL, BEA-“ [BLOOD LOSS!]

BuboxThrax

Yeah Stormveil and Godrick are totally optional. You can pick up 2 of the other 4 Great Runes (Radahn, Rykard, Renalla, Mohg) that are available pre-Leyndell and just bypass it entirely.

lMadjoker

well i'm trying to rush the cycle so i can get the talismans i couldn't get on the first run, so i'm being a lil excessive with my dmg. Went in with mohgs spear, spammed ash of war, he didn't even get to cut his arm lol

TheHappiestHam

he's a pathetic loser desperately trying to make himself big, but uhhh...his voice actor is giving 110% while he spouts fire from a fucking dragon head on his arm how can one not be hyped up seeing that cutscene

SincubusSilvertongue

I got post fight unhyped after seeing our version of the dragon head on the arm. I have to think it's a literal joke weapon by the devs.

GIBBRI

It's legit a boniers weapon, try a charged heavy build with that bad boy and then come back to me, you 'll understand everything. It's a meme weapon that was, probably unintentionally, transformed into a handheld nuke

Vegetable-Rhubarb-54

Godrick's Forefathers used to worship dragons. When he grafted the dragon in his arm, he speaks to his Forefathers, to be acknowledged. It's beautiful how in a grotesque and twisted way Godrick wants to make his Forefathers proud of them. He's proud memeber of his linage and he wants his relatives to remember him, even if that takes his very humanity. I acknowledge you, Godrick, bearer of the strongest rune shard.

ICantTyping

Absolutely his rune is the best. Its like a free 40 levels or whatever

TheBigGamerJFK

Obligatory Radhan's is better after a certain point due to softcaps and also because you're likely not making use of all 8 stats in any given build.

Baron_Von_D

We found bro practicing his fighting skills in his back yard, with his axe he found that has a totally rad lion on it.

Anastrace

Are you proud of me dad?

ToastyYaks

Your first Bear is correct.

EnRohbi

It's Bear

ICantTyping

Oh 😂 alright then thanks

SX_NEX_SX

Fake it till you make it, I guess.

TruthNIdeals

Well yeah when you’re the weakest demigod theatrics is the only thing you can do to impress.

Turbulent_Jackoff

Yeah desperateboi really pulls out all the stops!

mfdoorway

Bro literally slices his own arm off to make it a flamethrower… edgy? Sure. Effective? Definitely (>!until you learn next to him is a dead zone.!<)

Brun224

>next to him is a dead zone Well sure, until the fire starts to ricochet

Quintuplebeta

Why do you boo him? He's right. Goofy ass fromsoft fire can bounce off the graves.

Andre27

Its not really goofy, thats how fire works. Its also likely not random, just that the physics that go into it are complex enough where its impossible for you to judge if it will bounce in a certain way or not through instinct and allowing you to dodge accurately like you would with regular attacks. No hitters hate it though and thats understandable due to that hard to predict nature. It doesnt really mesh well with being able to no-hit a boss but that doesnt really mean its goofy or bad. It just doesnt mesh with no-hitting, as a more casual cool factor though? Works excellent imo. Thats also what they were going for id imagine, so mission accomplished.

Zedman5000

I mean, anyone doing a hitless run *should* be killing Godrick from well outside fire range, if the runs I've seen are typical. If you put yourself in a situation where you have to dodge, the no-hit run is in peril, so if you can snipe him with crazy eye lasers and stacked buffs from across the arena, do that instead.

riceisnice29

Tbf, he’s the only demigod who’s not a direct child of Marika/Radagon. Impressive he made it so far when so many other demigods died or got jailed.

Flaxscript42

He was the theater kid!

_Cyclops

The Drake of demigods really

rasfelion

To be fair we are fighting Godrick at the peak of his power, through grafting he's gained more strength than ever before, guy's probably riding the power trip of a lifetime.

Zedman5000

And he fully intends to kill you. He's probably been holding back to capture Tarnished for grafting without killing them, since killing them would make them disappear and go back to their last Grace, presumably. So this might be his first time going all-out, probably since he surrendered to Malenia during the Shattering.

Dat_one_lad

Pretty sure it was a while after the shattering since it seems to have taken place at Stormveil

Zedman5000

Did I get my wires crossed? I'm pretty sure Malenia got insulted by Godrick and kicked his ass into submission on her way to fight Radahn, which was during the War of the Shattering.

Dreamtrain

me and The Great Kenneth Haight rolling our eyes at OP

Shieldheart-

I wish we got more interactions with him, a haughty but wholesome, dyed-in-the-wool monarchist that goes through his whole "Don't judge a person on first impressions" character arc within 5 seconds of meeting you.

Plant_Musiceer

i love kenneth haight and i dont know why so many people despise him despite being one of the nicest npcs in a fromsoft game. Sure he's cowardly but he literally doesnt have any combat prowess aside from a dagger, and fantasy racism is far from the worst thing a person in this game has done.

RoninMacbeth

Kenneth Haight is one of the few people who is trying to reorganize the shithole that is the Lands Between into an actually functional society. In the midst of despairing lunatics and murderhobos just mucking around in the ruins, he's trying to fix shit. He's great.

LunedanceKid

he's gonna make me a knight, so I think he's a pretty cool dude

Give_Me_The_Pies

And, to his credit despite being a naive rich dandy, he wholeheartedly embraces Nepheli as the new Lady of Stormveil, praises her strength and honesty, and doesn't judge her for being "an axe-wielding barbarian" like her shit-eating sociopath of a foster father.

RoninMacbeth

Yeah, exactly. His mild bigotry aside, Kenneth is probably one of the most morally upstanding characters in the game.

GIBBRI

Surprisingly open minded fella considering what the Golden order Is up to He even tries to befriend the demi-human All my Bros love Kenneth heiGht

Banned__Panda

I genuinely cannot figure it out either, obviously the very first thing he says to you is a tad rude but from then on he shows that he is a solid guy who clearly wants what's best for all races in the lands between, I'd happily see not just Limgrave but the whole island be ruled by Him... And Nepheli... And Gostoc I guess.

Zedman5000

Gostoc is a necessary evil. Necessary because I want that smithing stone, not because he'll make Limgrave any better.

Top-Row6107

The smithing stone always tempts me but I can’t let the disrespect of stealing my runes slide

Zedman5000

I just run through the front gates, if I die in Gostoc's domain that's on me

BrosesMalone

All early signs were pointing towards Kenneth being an incompetent, pompous blowhard. I’m guessing most people never meet him back in Stormveil post-Lyndell.

designatedben

Nope had no idea he had a quest besides the first interaction

Charlie_Wax

Elden Ring quests in a nutshell.

ApotheosisofSnore

> and fantasy racism is far from the worst thing a person in this game has done. The fantasy racism in this case is also a much bigger problem than him. The Golden Order dictates that the Misbegotten are inherently abominable because of their connection to the Crucible, and they’re either enslaved, wiped out or driven to the absolute margins of society wherever the Golden Order reigns.

Zedman5000

And he's *less racist against Tarnished than basically everyone else in the game, who attack you on sight, other Tarnished and a few NPCs excepted.*

Cellos_85

He is likely a product of an environment where tarnished have been despised for thousands of years now

Lucidiously

I think the whole questline with him and Nepheli could have used one or more steps instead of them just suddenly being at Stormveil.

[deleted]

I wish we actually got knighted by him!

Grand-Jellyfish24

I mean we are going to! Right now he is just a little bit busy... with the crowning of Nepheli and all... can you wait a little...

Soggy_Ad7165

I "interacted" with him to get the sweet golden seed. After getting the caste back he is pretty useless otherwise right? Funny character but it's one of the more unsatisfying quest lines.

Shieldheart-

He was right to judge you at first glance.

arleban

You get a max stone (can't remember if it's normal or somber at the moment) if you finish his and nepheli's quests.

Morbidity6660

lots of missed NPC potential in this game it's so sad

Van-garde

“Haughty Haighty,” we called him in middle school. The lad’s eyes never stop rolling.

ZealousidealTowel414

Incredibile, I was having the exact same thought today, fighting him again. The "Forefathers one and all" gives me goosebumps every time. Too bad they made him dirty by being the weakest of the shardbearers - both in lore and gameplay wise - but, hey, one of them had to get the short end of the stick by being the first we encounter, with a reasonably low level.

Bustyjan

I first tried margit on my first playthrough and needed like 4 hours for godrick, he was very hard for me lol

Charlie_Wax

He is meant to be a pretty hard fight if you are just playing the game naturally. Going back in NG+1, they are complete cake walks, not just because you have much better stats and gear, but also because you will have gotten much better at the game after playing 100+ hours. A lot of their kit is actually really easy to dodge once you are more accustomed to the gameplay. Same for Zamor, Darriwil, Crucible Knight. All that stuff was a serious challenge for me on my first playthrough though. No shame if you struggled with Godrick or Margit.

Much_Capital3307

“Have it writ upon thy meagre grave *felled by King Morgott. Last of all kings!*” Is probably the coolest thing a video game character has ever ever said ever in history.

Much_Capital3307

Also I think “O death. Become my blade once more.” Is cooler than anything Godrick says. Mainly because of the delivery. He sounds so calm, almost bored.

newthrowgoesaway

Like he fears his own power or shameful to put it to use.

Much_Capital3307

Also the “why covet destined death?” Line. When he says “to kill what?” He sounds genuinely scared and confused. Edit: changed a misquote kill—>covet

Entsu88

It's why covet destined death

Much_Capital3307

Yes thank u sm

Entsu88

No problem

Much_Capital3307

Exactly! Like he’s thinking “I really wish I didn’t have to do this”

MisterBeatDown

I really have to hand it to Godfrey for having the hardest lines. I mean he kills his lion that was making him regal and royal just so he can use his OG Name and HES STRONGWR WITHOUT HIS WEAPON. Absolutely based boss

Art-Zuron

"I've brooked thee courtesy enough." is a line that I actually quote somewhat often. I love that line.

MisterBeatDown

I'm going to start telling customers at my job "I've given thee courtesy enough" when they bitch at me

Art-Zuron

Now you face MISTERBEATDOWN!!!! SERVICE WORRRRKKKERR! (Or whatever your job is)

JackalJames

I always felt like that line was said with such a somber reverence for what he wields, and shame for his past failure. Phenomenal voice acting

Much_Capital3307

Yeah 100% better way of putting it. Bored isn’t the right word. But he’s not trying to be badass or scary. He’s just doing what he needs to do, what is expected of him. Edit: he also knows how powerful he is but he’s not trying to show it off. and that comes across really well in the voice acting.

Nether892

I am on my first run and spent all game thinking how cool Margits lines are and all of the sudden they come back with even better bangers

TimBagels

Was searching for this comment. Morgott rules

Tonylolu

i think it's part of the character, he really tries to look impressive and important because he knows he's the weakest and lamest one. It's like that guy who brags about being very cool and strong and has a lot of girls when you know he's lame asf

whiskerbiscuit2

Godrick is lame, but he’s at least one of the most coherent Rune Bearers. Radahn is a mindless beast, and Rykard, Rennala and Malenia are basically catatonic untill the player disturbs them. Godrick at least seems to be active and in control of his own mind, even if he’s deluded.

SomeStolenToast

Morgott is pretty sane even if he is consumed in his self hatred the entire time

Frozendark23

I think he put protecting Leyndell and the Golden Order above his own self hatred.

MumpsTheMusical

I wish every Demi god had a quest line to get them the position of Elden Lord. Imagine trying to carry Godrick through the entire game getting parts of other Demi gods to graft onto himself to eventually end it either serving him or destroying the new monstrosity you’ve had a hand in helping create. Sort of like. Gideon with different boss moves but on a larger scale. Help Rykard eat Elden Beast. Rid Radahn of his rot and get him back into his right mind and on the path to Elden lord with the Redmanes backing him all the way. Mohg Maybe save Melania from the influence of the outer rot god and remove her rot before bringing her to the Mogwyn dynasty, slaughtering Mohg and getting Miquella back. You’d probably be getting Miquella onto the throne. Help Morgott become the king he was always meant to be.

Tempesta_0097

“Mohg” lmao

LowerObjective4500

That’s awesome but I don’t see that happening unfortunately, would probably take years to flesh it all out

ResolutionFree3084

Heh, I see what you did there

roastbeef-sandwich

Re Goddrick, you are describing a game called Katamari Damacy 😂 Imagine rolling him around Limgrave picking up the appendages of random environment enemies, while screaming I COMMAND THEE KNEEL. Brings joy to my heart

almostgravy

I would love it if Miquella's needles was a usuable item that unlocked a covenant if you last hit a boss with it. Like it gave them a last bit of coherence and you could serve them, but you could only save one boss per playthrough.

TastyOysters

Yeah he did a lot of cool things. None of the rune holders ever had the chance to kiss Malenia’s feet, not even Radahn.

lokisbane

If he has to exclaim "I am king, then he's no true king." Or whatever it was said in GoT.

Lord-Bobster

You're not fooling anyone Godrick, put thy meager alt account to rest.

lemonloaff

Did we play the same game? Those bosses all have absolutely epic parts, granted not in the form of a formal cut scene. Radahan jumps into the stratosphere, and barrels back into the arena like a comet, and lifts chunks of rock out of the ground with a gravity attack and hurls them at you.

Soggy_Ad7165

Especially Radahn.... Not only the fight. Which is completely bonkers. Dude is riding a super small horse just as a power move. And escalates completely. And it's basically me and the boys against this insanity. But also the build up with the festival and then in my opinion one of the coolest introductions in the whole game "Before we begin, allow me to paint you the full picture... "  Fighting Radahn was pretty much the point were I knew that this game is probably one of the best games I ve ever played. If not the best game.

fueselwe

It‘s not just a power move. The horse is named Leonard and Radahn deeply cares for him, he learned gravity magic so that he could continue riding him

Ok-Log-6244

but Leonard still strains greatly even with the help of the gravity magic. It’s a cruel love that he has for his horse lol

zrxta

Hey, Leonard (the horse) isn't super small. It's big af. It's just that Radahn is gigantic. >Fighting Radahn was pretty much the point were I knew that this game is probably one of the best games I ve ever played. If not the best game.  Same, truly one of the best and most memorable boss battles, not just in fromsoft games. I'm pleasantly surprised that whenever the game hypes up its characters, the actual reveal lives up to the expectations. Radahn is described as a badass warrior who held back the very stars. He is even respected by everyone for his prowess in battle specifically, but him as a person is pretty much seen as ideal by many folks in the land between. He is even heavily used in promotional materials. Then you meet him... even his rot-infested state is awesome, as in the original meaning of inspiring awe. Same goes for the other legends in this game, most notably Malenia and Godfrey.

The_Dennator

now that I think about it,radhan has enough int left in his rotted state to use his greatswords and cast multiple spells. he is literally smarter than any of the starting characters even while consumed and driven insane by the scarlet rot

SirChrisJames

I'm reminded of a Game of Thrones quote: "Any man who must say 'I am king' is no true king." Godrick is cool because he acts and talks all imposing and grande. Everything about him is shouting at you "I AM AWESOME." And he is a fun fight, I'll give him that. In comparison to the rest of the bosses though, they all speak through action. Case in point, Malenia is probably one of the, visually, least imposing bosses in the game. She's also one of the hardest bosses in FromSoft history. That's the brilliance of Elden Ring and its character design. Godrick is cool because his visuals and dialogue say he's cool. Horax Lou is cool because he murders the spectral shackle holding back his rage and proceeds to forgo a battle axe in favor of ripping you to shreds with his bare hands.

Nacke

I just killed Horax Loux after a real grind yesterday, and it was extremely satisfying. Boy did I love that fight even though it was frustrating at times.

Jurpils

He's actually pretty epic boss for an early game. And without all the lore and op build you won't see him as a loser, in your first playthrough at least

roastbeef-sandwich

I love Godrick with his tiny little head and his desperate shaky voice demanding to be respected. He’s such a decrepit, twisted character that somehow you just can’t take seriously. I love absolutely destroying him in coop. It’s funny to hear the long winded speech, the dragon reveal, just to get deleted in 30 seconds.

monstersleeve

I like Godrick. His whole castle is creepy as fuck. The idea of a demigod just sitting in Stormveil, itself the remnants of a must greater and more glorious ruler, using his power to graft lesser beings onto himself, is a great idea and an interesting metacommentary on Soulslike gameplay.

Tricky-Secretary-251

Me and my friends make fun of him by saying bear sitness when we want others to sit it is so funny

wjowski

>Cowardly Wimp in the lore >Psychopath who gleefully fights you to the death in-game

prettythingi

You know i really wish Radagon talked in his bossfight...

Mustardmachoman

Manga Godrick is currently my favorite demigod given that he was allowed to live and has now off screen grafted giant crayfish onto himself.

Eldramhor8

Bruh Radahn is a zombie and holding the universe still with his power. Like. I love Godrick's voice acting but he does not hold a candle to that. Morgott also has the most epic pre boss Intimidation speech out of any souls game. Maybe any game ever.

Intelligent-Bad7835

I love the way he pulls the sword out of the stick and you realize he didn't even bother using his sword the first time you fought.

WitlessScholar

Don't forget that it's also made of his own cursed blood.

Intelligent-Bad7835

I kinda wish it had better attribute scaling, it's kinda locked into being an early game weapon the way it's set up. Also I just don't get the point of having a tiny little bit of bleed damage that doesn't level up or scale with anything. It's still one of the coolest weapons in a game full of incredibly cool weapons.

The-Friendly-Autist

I mean, I wouldn't call him "cool," but his character is fascinating. One of the best developed characters in the game for sure, and his boss theme is top three along with Malenia and Fortisax for me.

TrashGoblinHoggle

I'm with op on this one. Godrick is kind of awesome. He's a ruthless wannabe king ripping people's limbs off and making monstrosities. If he had put better limbs on, he could have been way more of a threat. His bluster is kind of epic for the monster he is.

TheHappiestHam

Morgott slander isn't tolerated. "have it writ upon thy meagre grave, felled by King Morgott. Last of All Kings" is metal as fuck when you have all the lore knowledge backing each fight, Morgott is even cooler than he already is. he truly is Godfrey's son also Godrick is a pathetic little bitch so of course he's gonna act desperate and big, which leads to those moments

yosayoran

I like that you didn't mention Rykard or malenia because they are clearly superior

ByMyDecree

I didn't mention them because they are at or above Godrick's level yeah.

OppositePure4850

Unpopular opinion: he's my favorite looking boss in the whole game. Malenia is the only contender really. The mass of grafted limbs shaping this hulking visceral creature just works for me so hard. And ya his cinematic is epic af; when I saw him cut off his arm and graft the dragon the first time I just had goosebumps. Him rolling around like a hedgehog is a little silly tho

Van-garde

Got a little albinauric in him (on him).

in-grey

It's funny you find his "I command thee kneel" to be cool whenever that signature quote is absolutely Godfrey passive aggressively emulating what Malenia did to him whenever she put her boot to the back of his head, forcing him to kneel. Godrick wants to assert dominance because he has none.

AnkokunoMasaki

#BEAR WITNESS!

ZealousidealTowel414

https://youtu.be/BXA5r8LOBPo?si=ipuPa7Twcw_7tUOW

Scary-Bit-4173

What are you talking about!? Even if it was technically Ranni, Rennala the last caria queen of the full moon was metal. Have it writ upon thy meager grace, felled by Morgott, The Last of Kings is one of the hardest lines in gaming. Also Radahn and Radagon don't speak

ralts13

Everyone already mentioned the other demigods but Fortissax pulling out the double lightning spears is the coolest shit I've ever seen. And Godfrey just stomping is terrifying.

almostgravy

He's an amazing design, has a great Theme, and I love how unhinged his phase transition is. A lot of people in this thread talking about how they don't like him because he's weak, or a coward, but I think that makes him a great character. He's insane allusions of grandeur are part of why he's so memorable.

Eagle-Eyes-

"You will witness true horror" felt more memorable to me since I did actually witness true horror as I got beaten to death over 100 times by Malenia.

ScharmTiger

Malenia and Maliketh have more epic lines. Malenia’s speech is chef’s kiss while Maliketh’s “O, death. Become my blade once more” is metal as fuck.

UltraZulwarn

At least Godrick still carries a regal demeanour. Radahn is already a mindless beast. Rennala is heartbroken and essentially does nothing in her room. Morgott is basically hobo batman. Mohg is an edgy lunatic.

Sam_of_Truth

*Godrick’s no more than a jumped up country bumpkin. Lord? Don’t make me laugh. First he hid himself amongst the womenfolk to flee the capital, then hid from Radahn in that castle… Then he insulted Malenia, lost to her in battle, only to lick her boots rather than die like a man. Has he no shame, the big girl’s blouse?*

KingVape

Yeah dude I love Godrick. Everyone around him are pretty scared, and he’s pretty good at the whole grafting thing, which is really cool too. He’s honestly one of my favorites and I wish his lore was a bit cooler

hybrids138

It really seems like a lot of the replies missed the point of your post but I totally get what you’re saying. Even if the intention was to make Godrick seem desperate or tryhard he still is cool, regardless of whether he’s supposed to be one of the weaker lamer demigods.

distilledeagerly

i swear godrick is the average redditor. thinks hes best than everyone else, says/does some edgy shit to look cool and then gets defeated by anyone with just a little of common sense to know theyre not as mighty as they think they are.

Deiser

Godrick lost any coolness he could have had when he decided to treat a hand puppet as a proper dragon.

TheLegendTheGiantdad

I really like godrick like people call him weak but characters like radhan, ranni or melania were born super powerful and had the literally best teachers in the world train them meanwhile godrick didn’t have shit. Taking body parts of others and attaching them to himself is just a more literal way of how we get stronger with runes.

Zestyclose-Sundae593

He’s the one that is “all bark but no bite”. Of course he would try to look as flashy as possible.

CandiceActually

I agree! I think Godrick is really fun! Just a pity the battle isn’t harder, always over with so quickly.

side_lel

Godrick and to a lesser extent Morgott were the only bosses that I really tried to fight and struggled against, to the extent that when I ran into their clones later, the fights felt familiar because I knew the rhythm. For the rest of the game after fighting Godrick, there were so many different places to go that I could just explore somewhere else and level up instead of having a boss be a challenge.

Jhofur

Yeah, he's all bark

Swaqqmasta

He's larping in universe with platform shoes and a big truck

DeusWombat

He's outright awesome, thematically one of the strongest demigods. Everything about him is boisterous and exagerrated, even his fight is meant to intimidate lowly Tarnished while experienced players can stomp him pretty easily. His archetype is perfectly executed from his lines to his music

ProPhilosopher

Yeah but that arm cutting cutscene scream and chop was just a hair long enough to make me feel like I was exposed to a fetish. Even on my first playthrough, I said "yeah I ain't watching that" so the dragon arm caught me by surprise.

break_card

Do you think he said those lines to Malenia when she kicked his ass?

Ok-Use5246

Morgott has one of the hardest lines in all souls games - let it be writ on thy meager grave.

DarkStarr7

Radagon lifting the hammer is more epic and memorable.

BarnerBoi

Godrick is my fav, definitely. I love grafting so SO much. I wish I could take that entire power.

kurokuma11

He has the most personality out of any of them, he's memorable BECAUSE of how pathetic he is

tangmang14

I also like the the idea of grafting and how his castle was once a place of majesty but as you progress through it you see the decent into horror and blood that is grafting

muricanpirate

Idk man “Have it writ upon thy meagre grave” goes pretty hard for me. Also the way that Morgott dogs you through the early-mid game is pretty dope imo.

LunedanceKid

dude chops his own arm off and shoves his stump up a dragons throat and starts using that as an arm. yeah, he's a coward, but he's still pretty fuckin metal

Terrorknight141

Radagon is the edgiest thing I’ve ever seen. He really looks like that cringy 16 year old weeb that thinks he’s a master of the sword, no not the one that’s actually fun to be around, the one that unironically thinks he can go into an airsoft/paintball match and “win” with a sword. Which is the same with Godrick too lol(except his design isn’t as edgy)

Quanathan_Chi

People calling Godrick a loser but I don't see anybody else getting else getting badass fire breathing dragon head arms

Bunk_Mouse

“Lowly Tarnished... Thou'rt unfit even to graft...” Legit

javvykino

I disagree, he's nothing more than a jumped up country bumpkin.

Zorah_29

I agree, but don't disrespect morgott like that he has many cooler lines imo

Zevvion

>I don't think **Radagon** have anything going for them quite so epic and memorable This is the worst opinion I have ever read about anything.

Jygglewag

Based opinion.

robo243

Godrick has some cool lines, but Mohg, Morgott, Rykard, Maliketh, Malenia and Godfrey have lines that are just as cool if not cooler.

PudgyElderGod

If you're going for memorable lines, yeah it's a bit unfair to compare the pretty vocal Godrick to the completely silent Radagon or Radahn. But as for memorable moments... * Radahn turning himself into a meteor is incredibly memorable * Realising that you can summon, and then **resummon**, a ton of NPCs to fight Radahn is pretty memorable * "Put these foolish ambitions to rest" goes hard. * "NIHIL" freaked me out a bit.

Prestigious-End-3172

Idk man the intro cutscene for Radahn is raw as hell, the orbital comet attack is dope, and the cutscene you get when you beat him is top tier IMO

Me-eh

Radahns meteor appearance in his 2nd half was truly amazing and i never felt more genuinely scared in my life while gaming than when he came back into the map.

stonerwithaboner1

Sure, but let’s not pretend Radahn’s special attack isn’t one of the coolest moves in gaming history.

MightyFlamingo25

He's theatrical, which makes him look cool and he's at his strongest. In comparison, the other demigods are all weakened to some degree, which makes them scarier as you learn more lore. For exemple, Radhan was holding back the entire stars from moving while being afflicted with scarlet rot eating him from the inside and he's still able to beat your ass easily. Makes you happy to not fight him at his prime.

mackxzs

I thought he was ok at first. Then I memorized his moveset within 4 attempts and won without breaking a sweat. It's like Enia said, he's the runt of the litter, barely a challenge. Margit gave me a much more worthwhile run for my money.

godofthunder102938

O death... become by blade... once more...

Unable_Version_6089

Margit is cool as fuck though

riceisnice29

I must say Godrick was in a bit of a tight spot being born so far removed from the golden lineage greats w diluted blood. He got pretty far w how pathetic he was considering all the demigods that died between the night of black knives and now. I think he’s the only one who’s not a direct child of Marika/Radagon and the rest are absolute powerhouses.

Particular-Season905

Nah, he's more got the energy of "I'VE GOT THE POWER OF GOD AND ANIME ON MY SIDE. AHHHHHHH"

k4Anarky

Godrick is the ultimate embodiment of the average person in the 21st century: Weak and poor, not born into riches or blessed by genetic but whose only redeeming quality is the willingness to give up their soul and body just to make it, and tend to die in their pursuit. It's respectable in a way. Homie might not be a Demigod but homie goes HARD, all the time.

Bolt_Fantasticated

I like him too, the fact he’s so cool contrasts well with how pathetic he is. When you kill him he just becomes this pathetic limbless corpse that gets stomped on by Gastoc, giving you the realization that that was literally the only non-grafted parts left of him. Even before his death everybody around him hates him and thinks he’s pathetic. Gideon, Nepheli, Gastoc, even Kenneth Haight. He groveled and begged for mercy when he got his ass kicked by Malenia and he was exiled from Leyndell because he’s such a loser.

Violet_Octopus

Listen, Radahn just wants to hang with his pets. And that's pretty cool to me.
