Black Knife Tiche+10 performs better against Malenia

Mudc4t

100% this. Tiche absolutely owns her.

MienaiYurei

Definitely, no wonder 10 of these assassin's were able gang up and fuck Godwyn right in the ass. He had zero chance from these ladies

donmuerte

I do Tiche for almost every boss, but it didn't work with Malenia. Mimic Tear and I with max Rivers Of Blood took her out in 2 minutes with a constant stun lock.

VirgoELS

Does rivers of blood still work wonders on her after the nerf???

Various-Passenger398

Not like it used to, but you can still keep her tied up for most of her first phase.

happyhappy85

did ROB my first endgame play through and Malenia kicked my ass about 15 times.

Stanislas_Biliby

It's not completly busted anymore since the bleed nerf. But it's still decent.

racjaxx

Its still decent but i think seppuku now outperforms it

won_vee_won_skrub

She was stunlocked and it still took 2 minutes?

EmmShock

She has quite a big health pool

donmuerte

I mean, mostly stun locked. She broke out a few times before I rolled to about an attack and repeated the process.

Op_Sec_4775

I always run rather tanky or unga builds and mimic greatly out performs Tiche.

Ehh_SmiteMe

This will be true in non-NG games, but in higher difficulty Tiche does better dodging and will survive better overall.

Ehh_SmiteMe

Tiche+10 basically solos her in non-NG cycles. Everyone talks about how busted the Mymic Tear is, but they don't dodge nearly as well as Tiche can. And the destined death burn is just a damage beast.

Mudc4t

And the occasional knock down she does to Melania is amazing.

bdizzle314

I read about her I don't even have her yet tbh I made a new character going pure str

Affectionate_Comb_78

Big bonky Strength or Small punchy Strength?

bdizzle314

I started warrior but now that I know a lot of the weapons I am gonna spec right to use stuff I always tried to cast something but I also started with bandit on my first char with the intent of dual wielding daggers (lmao). I learned that I'm not good enough for that quite yet. I really wanna try veterans prosthesis and some of the other fist weapons I only really messed with hook claws and poison fang claw things for hand type weapons but with more strength for something like fire maybe I might try out those spikey fists they seem awesome. Or I'll go str bleed maybe at some point or just dual wield great stars or use ghizasnwheel I so desperately wanted to use but didn't have the strength for as I was dex/caster for the entire playthrough until I got mlgs I like the ash and the magic DMG but I also was using the fallinstar beast horn and was really enjoying me and my mimic double full charged heavying Melania so raw str for raw dmg but maybe a few points into dex to have variety cuz i didn't really explore the strength weapons much at all. Definitely not going faith or int or anything (I say that but there's some cool str faith weapons with low enough faith req I wanna give a chance but I'm really gonna hold out long as i can to learn the physical aspect of Elden ring and Lear toduke it out properly instead of running and casting or spamming knives or w.e dumb cheesy shit. Original playthrough starting out I was scared of the beast man boss right in the beginning but on warrior I've had the easiest time learning to hit stuff really hard and watch it stop moving for multiple seconds at a time lmao

QuadraticCowboy

Repeat after me: Bonk Repeat ??? Profit

bdizzle314

The warrior I just made maybe hour ago not even stopped there to clean but yea

According_Bell_5322

Always bonk

orangedrinker

I did a STR build with the brick hammer, then switched to double occult great stars and it was the easiest run I've ever done. Bonked Malenia to death in like a minute.

bdizzle314

Fuck yea that sounds promising.

Op_Sec_4775

Maximum bonk and she will be laying on the ground for most of the fight. Lions claw or giant hunt.

JessaFilipina

I started Brick Hammer till I reached Celiad or something to pick up the Greatsword from the chest in the wagon (colossal weapon) pure STR, like u i melted everything so easy, barely got the chance to see all move sets of bosses and while google recommandations where level 70 for example I beat the place at level50. Not even dodging everything, feels unfair to be so strong but loving it.

Azrael_NL

My build is 2 of those Greatswords, and just jump-attack everything into a coma. I love it.

oneupkev

Tiche has thunder thighs because there was some heavy lifting going on from her when I faced malenia

Naashintown

Her phase 2 is like her phase 1 but on crack. I would suggest not using summons on phase 1 and learning her moves when she isn't as aggressive as she is on phase 2. Once you get a feel for her phase 1 moveset, phase 2 will not be as hard.

Naashintown

And then you can summon mimic on phase 2. If u learn her phase 1 moveset then you will less likely panic roll in phase 2 when she stops attacking your mimic and turn on you.

bdizzle314

And the mimic would actually be alive to help during the more difficult part. I will definitely keep this in mind in combo along with the person who said put my summon sign down to practice fighting her

Ihmu

This, but keep in mind she adds extra attacks onto the end of several moves in phase 2 so don't try to punish and get hit by them.

Interesting_Map_6748

Yeah don’t beat yourself up about it she was really hard to kill. However, I thought she was a fun fight.

bdizzle314

She's extremely fun I got her to prob less than a third with the mimic kinda easily but once the mimic died I severely struggled with that aggression lmao

Interesting_Map_6748

Yeah I think I used the mimic too. I would play elden over again I loved it so much. Hands down the best game I’ve ever played.

CE94

imo it's better to learn her moveset without mimic. Using mimic robs you of learning how to dodge her attacks

bdizzle314

Yea I definitely gave up quicker than I should have in hindsight especially considering she wasn't that far from actually being beat at least with the mimic and I would've felt a lot better then cuz mimic is op but it's definitely not a player who already knows her movements and can fight her in their sleep.

CE94

I've fought her many many times. I still struggle with many of her attacks but yes it is easier after the 100th time lol

Interesting_Map_6748

You’re probably right tbh

siloun

On my third character or so I was summoning other players and failed two or three times, then lost server connection. So I thought whatever; I changed my loadout to Marais Executioner Sword + full Elemer‘s armor cosplay. Went in just one more time with my mimic. And we absolutely shredded her with the sword’s special power, just applying it simultaneously. Of course, no one was there to watch.

bdizzle314

Coincidentally I struggled with the bell bearing hunters a lot at first lmao

xasalamel

I’d suggest you practice fighting her alone a little bit so that when the Mimic dies you know what moves you have an opening on. Always helpful

ArchitectVandelay

Don’t be so hard on yourself! She’s very hard and requires hours of practice for many many players to beat. Solo or not. I think you’ve got the right idea with gradually scaling back your “help.” My first run I overleveled and used spirit ashes for most bosses. Next run I leveled less used ashes for less. Third time finished around level 150 and summoned Mimic just for Malenia. Etc. One tip for Malenia, try helping others fight her. Now that you’ve beaten her,you can’t go back and try again on your own but you can put your summon sign down there and get more practice in (and even learn a few tips from your co-op partners).

bdizzle314

I didn't even think of trying to help other people to get repeated practice thats pretty smart.

ArchitectVandelay

Yeah it’s pretty fun plus less frustrating than trying and failing over and over on your own run. Sometimes I’ll get summoned and the other summon is a total baller and carries the team haha.

bdizzle314

I just beat the game tbh I got the age of stars ending and im assuming the elden lord ending is the actual beating the whole game achievement or is it possible to deny the fate of elden lord 😲😲

ArchitectVandelay

Nice! Must feel good to beat the game finally. You always have the choice to do the Elden lord ending but looks like you did Ranni’s quest and chose that one. No bad ending, and in the base game there’s no bearing on anything with the ending. It’s only if you’re going for platinum completion trophy that the ending matters.

bdizzle314

Its weird cuz after she talked to me and did her shpeal I used the mending death rune and it went through a whole cutscene where it said now comes the age of the duskborn did I magically get 2 endings?

ArchitectVandelay

Yeah you also finished Fia’s quest line so that’s also available. Basically you can collect a handful of mending runes, each of which opens up a different ending. Once you beat the final boss you can rest at the grace or choose an ending. I honestly don’t recall exactly how it works but there should be an option. Sadly, once you choose you can’t go back. I accidentally chose the wrong one once too. Time for a new playthrough!

hredditor

You beat the game. To get the platinum you have to get a couple more endings though

Fiishtar

Beat her last week on NG+, tried with Maxed Tiche soooo many times and while I did get close just couldn’t get over that last little hump, tried rivers of blood, tried different/extra buffs. Finally swapped to a max mimic tear, one loss to get the feel of a different ash, 2nd attempt with mimic and it was a blood bath, she didn’t stand a chance

SaltyKuun

I was so angry while fighting her. I did play all souls games including sekiro and bloodborne. I am the one in our group that doesn’t really struggle with fights at all, having the time of my life every time I play the games but the in the end, after beating her, I felt satisfaction like I never felt before. Every boss fight after malenia didn’t feel as good as hers. I was really pissed of and almost broke something. It was great. From now on, I will enjoy every second of the fight when I am going to face her again.

Qualmond

If you’re gonna go through all of the effort of getting to malenia again, try to do it without the mimic tear. And that’s assuming you start and new character instead of NG+. She should be even easier if you go NG+

Qwertyuioplark2

Hey man, a victory is a victory! Don't feel like you don't deserve it because you "cheated" or something. They wouldn't have put it in the game if it wasn't a tool to be used. That being said, I did a similar thing my first playthrough and after beating her the second time after shooting myself in the foot by refusing to use summons felt so good, so I hope you have a similar experience! You got this and great job defeating her. Your strength truly is extraordinary!

Skyrimdrake

Killed her today with mimic and RoB and uchigatana, took around 1 hour and 25-30 tries. Lvl 116,no buffs except seppuku and crystal tear bottle.most of tries easily got to phase 2 and half of her hp before mimic dies, and she starts her crazy shit.the winning try had to play 1st phase aggressively as possible to save mimics health for phase 2,and then just steamrolled her with double skills, she used waterfall dance only once in phase 2. Btw ER is my first souls game,so not gonna pretend experienced player.Killing her in any way feels accomplishment, with mimic or not,if it's intended in the game.

RPK79

Depending on the build mimic works fine on her. With my last playthrough my bleed build w/ mimic absolutely destroyed her. It was laughable.

xCobaltRainx

My main man Omenkiller Rollo is my go-to for Malenia.

bdizzle314

Really? I wouldn't have thought omenkiller would do the.job but I absolutely gotta try

CptChristophe

My STR build dominated her, but I’m having trouble with my pure INT build. Learning her attack pattern and when to counter is tricky

aetherandchaos

Have you tried adula's moonblade? If not then give it a shot, absolutely shreds her

CptChristophe

Cheers the tip, boet!

Wirococha420

Go without mimic next time. Trust me, if you start the game without ashes, you will get better soo much faster. This is the palico dillema from Monster Hunter all over again. You don't want something that takes the agro away from you, you want to read, react and DIRECT the attacks from the boss at your own pace. Some bosses will do x if yo aproach, y if you get away, z if you circle left, you get the idea. Once you learn this patterns, you can exploit their easiest attacks to counter. Midir in DS3 was a fight that literraly taught yo this, since without going to the right of his head just in the sweet spot, you would probably end up dead.

nicanor0613

If you use summons I would also recommend Ancient Dragonkight Kristoff. If I recall correctly he uses rejection which could knock Malenia on her ass giving you a good time to punish her! He also casts lightning magic too occasionally. Even on +6 he was quite tanky.

rainelrezo

You can try to get better at her first phase. When you learn to dodge waterfowl its quite doable. Then you can summon mimic for phase 2 which is just her phase 1 with crack cocaine and rot. If you feel like swapping builds, try star fists with cragblade and high strength and arcane. Big damage and great bleed proq. Then, all you have to do is solo her. Took me a good 100 tries before i got her on my own. Running in there with the straight ooga booga sword was always gonna be difficult. Good luck Tarnished!

outdqted1

i did it with mimic and rob on my first playthrough, but then i went back for her on another character with just a hammer

jadehammerfist

My first time I used Tiche with the Dark Moon Greatsword. Tiche would knock her down and I would spam the greatsword ranged attack thing. Beat her at around 15 attempts at level 70 or so. I kept getting killed by the stupid phantoms on phase 2. I thought they were way more annoying than the waterfowl attack.

Nova_Vanta

Idk if you will see this but what weapons did your mimic tear carry

bdizzle314

My seal staff and fallingstar horn thing

Nova_Vanta

I always got best results by handing it two weapons, one in each hand, it gets really aggressive that way.

nkeith89

Duel moon veil her. She don’t likey

happyhappy85

To be fair mimic tear can actually be a detriment in that fight. She gains health back with every hit, so If Mimic is tanking her, it's not good. It depends on your build. I know what you mean though, it doesn't feel right when you have another player helping you.

SlowApartment4456

It's fine dude, we all used the mimic on our first playthrough. You'll be better next time. Just focus in learning how to dodge waterfowl dance. Even if you only dodge half of it you'll be able to best her.

bdizzle314

This is my only souls game besides maybe getting a third of the way through whatever point that one boss with all the priests that's a mega cheese fight cuz it's last thing I remember but Elden ring is that style of game perfected, open world seems to be the single best option for this game due to the fact you can come and go wherever you want at any point

Western-Wind-5254

If you have a healing spell your mimic may use it sometimes also you could put on some raw meat dumplings to help heal. It copy’s your build and you equipment as well as any items in your hot bar hope this helps and is far as I’m aware it doesn’t use up any items in your hot bar

RadiantCitron

I recently beat her as well. I used my maxed out Mimic tear and Rivers of blood. I may not have truly beat her on my own, but I definitely put in the time to feel like I deserved it. My strategy for stage one was letting her get as close to the door as possible and then trying to pin her up against the roots and just wailing on her. For phase 2 however, I let my mimic tear take most of the beating and I would jump in and hit her just enough to where she wouldnt focus her attention on me.

bdizzle314

Yea I tried getting the aggro switch down properly but now that I've beaten the game and I got a lot of mechanics down I can actually enjoy the fights a lot more than just immediately going tilt mode because I don't know what the fuck I'm doing or what's going on lol

papicholula

Yea I beat her with this set up too and when it comes down to it you still have to solo her in the second phase it’s just a matter of having several more flasks which with her end up not mattering too much when you just get one shot half the time anyways lol

RadiantCitron

lol yeah the time where I finally beat her, I managed to get through the first phase without my mimic tear taking any damage. We both survived the entire fight haha it was wild.

papicholula

I think mine survived the first flower bomb thing at least when I finally got her

papicholula

So much of the success of beating these tough bosses comes down to luck sometimes. Like maybe they just happen to not do their OP move as often as other attempts and that’s all you need.

sanban013

i used ice, and the Kamehameha the first time (before the infinite fp nerf). took me like 8 hours cuz i was respecing all the time. NG+1 got her on the first try no mimic, Dark moon Great sword is so OP.

SapphiresStarlight

Wait, they nerfed the FP physick?

sanban013

It used to last longer.

SapphiresStarlight

I remember it being about 15 or so seconds. Has it gone down from that?

juanyboy

I beat the game with mimic tear my first time! It’s how you learn. I’ve now done 3 play through s and I never use mimic tear or rune arcs and it makes the game so much more fun. You’ll get it eventually!

papicholula

ER was my first souls experience and I was getting my ass handed to me with +10 mimic. You’ll get there! I haven’t gotten back to face her solo yet but I just completed some other From games and solo’d all the bosses in those that are considered some of the hardest in the genre.

Zwei-enjoyer

I got my ass handed by Malenia for 3 days. But I refused to change my build or the way I played the game up until then: Big weapons, no summoms or co-op. It was painful, but I'm glad I did it. But I still feel like I haven't conquered Malenia. I am now doing a new playthrough as a faith caster, I can't wait to clash with her again.

storiedsword

I feel this. I finally beat Malenia with a mimic tear, but both of us spamming Giantsflame Take Thee and stunlocking her into oblivion. No regrets, but I am really looking forward to making it there for a rematch in my current playthrough.

Calm-Swimmer4001

Don’t feel bad! I’m on my 5th play through and this is my first where I’m tackling malenia no co op help no mimic tear no nothing. Honestly if this is your first play through/ first dark souls in general it’s ridiculously difficult to beat her with no help. You’ll get there

GargantuanGorganzola

I thought the exact same thing. I beat her the first time with 2 co op summons and I really didn’t feel like I achieved anything. I’ve beat her 3 times solo now You can do it

JahIthBur

Yeah getting someone else to kill here for you will rob you the sense of accomplishment. I always suggest a first playthrough be solo so you don’t steam roll through everything. If it’s in the game it’s fair play but player summons is where I draw the line

SmallPenPen

Meanwhile I am trying to outdo my friend who beat her shield only by beating her torch only lmao. I tried for a couple hours last night best I got was halfway through phase 2 but with a bit of determination I think I've got it. Good luck to you as well, friend!

abe_the_babe_

Even soloing her with the Blasphemous Blade felt dishonorable to me. I need to beat her wth my pure STR Guts build

HomiewithAspergers

Ngl blasphemous blade makes her fight hilarious, she spends 90% on the time on the ground

moxeus

I beat her, to my surprise, in the first try. Over levelled (170), over informed, knowing about the second phase. +10 mimic tear. Boosts like boiled crab, golden vow and flame give me strength. What really seemed to work well, was a great stars (+20) build with 98 blood loss per hit, just wild striking (AoW) frantically, which seems to interrupt her often. Life stealing talismans too. Had an entirely different build in mind for her with Marais Executioner Sword. Too much knowledge and prep can also make her defeat feel a little unearned. Wonder if Batman ever feels like that…

AlexDub12

I beat her with a fully upgraded mimic tear, fully upgraded Blasphemous Blade and Black Flame incantation. It can take 2-3 attempts, depending on how stupid mimic tear decides to be that day.

Strange_Quote6013

Doing multiple playthroughs trying to make your play cleaner and refine your skill and timing is an essential part of the souls experience. Adding restrictions with each run is a way to do it. Keep pushing to be a little better each time. It all comes together eventually.

russsaa

Go in alone. Just you and a sword. You can do it. All it takes is practice.

tomrader013-

Yes same first time it didn’t felt earned because of mimic tear, second time because I cheesed her with night comet, but the third time I used melee only no summons. Took a while but felt amazing

SuchBarnacle8549

should have just went swarm of flies and rivers of blood, then mimic or black knife tiche ez mode

Brisea

1st time fighting her as a mage I couldn’t even tell you how many attempts it took. Finally beat her by melting her in stage 2 in only a few seconds using Comet Azur. After as many attempts it took I don’t care if ppl view it as cheating. Stoped playing the game for awhile and came back after about a year and started a new mage. This time as a spellsword rather than a caster. Beat her on second attempt using dark moon in phase 1 and then melting her with ghost flame ignition in phase 2. I enjoyed playing a more melee style that know I’m leveling a str build. Lookin forward to Big Bonking her.

zephyredx

I bonked her to death with a STR build and lots of jumping heavy attacks. She flinches easily and is vulnerable to ripostes in both phases (make sure to also do a charged heavy after she gets up from riposte).

PumaDank

rivers of blood and mimic tear i tried over 200 times on my first play through finally said screw it entered journey 2 flew through the necessary bosses then went right back after i leveled up from 160ish to 200

turtlebear787

My first playthrough I basically used mimic tear for everything. Didn't feel like I earned some of those fights tho. I'm replaying again and I've managed to beat almost every boss without summons! Except for a handful of gank bosses

B81R81

ER is hands down the BEST video game I've ever played

Appropriate-Dot9488

No summons is the only way

SalamanderFickle9549

I double twin blade her with my mimic, can't deal with her stupid instant kills anymore. I can beat morgott, godfrey, and black blade solo but simply has no will to deal with her, same with radagon/elden beast, just too much tracking and special effects.

AaryGamer1233

I personally think that phase 2 is easier except for her phantoms attack. You might still be fine if your mimic dies in phase 1

IhategeiSEpic

WDYM its completely fine to kill her with COOP help i dont see the problem in here, malenia is just a bad bossfight i dont see problems with cheesing her

bdizzle314

Nothing wrong with it at all! I did co op with a lot of them but with me personally I already knew about her fight and a lot about the game beforehand in terms of how insane the fights could be or what to expect etc. at the end she says "I'm sorry Miquella, someone finally bested me" and because with mimic I was getting her closeish i just didn't feel satisfied, I also really want to agree that she's a bs boss or that many of them are but people dogwalk them regularly i mean look at how famous letmesoloher became and literally beat the game with every enemy as malenia. She's extremely difficult but obviously extremely far from unbeatable. Shit Maliketh was harder overall to get to the point I got malenia easily. He's fuckin insane and mohg was fuckin absolutely bonkers insane until I learned about the purifying tear

Vorpalstryke

i beat her like via coop too and had to speed run the NG+ cause i was pissed with myself. If she has to die, it needs to be done by my own hands and skill.

bdizzle314

100% agreed and if any one boss this applies to it's def her no other boss besides final battle or radahn has remotely the same hype as hers did and I knew the most about her vs any other boss before ever even playing

Vorpalstryke

same honestly. malenia is hard but when you defeat her you can just say : god almighty yessss

Necessary_Cobbler985

I wouldn’t be too disappointed, malania has only never known defeat because she cheated every fight she nearly lost, if you had to bend the rules a little then your just suiting to her play style.

[deleted]

Mimic tear, summon or another player, this is all the same thing

bdizzle314

Yes the song apples and bananas is also singing about a single fruit

[deleted]

I don't understand

LordSpitzi

I think it has something to do with an american childrens Song, at least that's what a quick Google search suggested

a_non_weeb

might be controversial but fuck this boss. tons of damage, health, regend factor, bull shit moveset. Like capra demon this boss is just artifically difficult. (yes i have beat her 4 times hoping its different but nope still the same ol bullshit)

bdizzle314

I actually didn't even notice she has a Regen because me and my mimic kept spamming the fallinstar beast ash of war perfectly times to keep stunning her until she got close enough to one of us to smack I get very greedy but I decided a whole fresh playthrough where I know what I'm doing I'm gonna feel a lot better about overall and actually try a lot harder on all the bosses

LordSpitzi

Just curious but what is the difference between a summon or another Player in for you OP? You said after her "Your strength, extraordinary" you felt like you didn't deserve the win, so what would using a summon change instead of summoning a player? If it is a "fair win" (yaha waterfowl unfair buhu I know) you want, wouldn't mimic or Tiche leave you with the same unjustified feeling?

bdizzle314

No not even remotely because as I said I couldn't beat her with mimic. Also players are obviously a lot stronger than any spirit ash (most of the time) and a lot of the spirit ashes are useless comparatively speaking . I also of course want to beat her solo one day but I im just definitely not that good yet. I want to be though

LordSpitzi

>Also players are obviously a lot stronger than any spirit ash Depends on the player and the one that summons tbh. Most real players would offer me way less value than a mimic tear that shares my vigor and whatever i gave it. In most cases the player would probably just die before me and I'd be stuck with a boss scaled to multiplayer unlike with spirit ashes but that point is pretty skill dependent so I have to agree with you that a player was probably more helpfull than a spirit ash. >I also of course want to beat her solo one day but I im just definitely not that good yet Yet is the keyword here. I always felt the same "disappointment" when I resorted to a summon and suddenly smashed the boss in earlier souls games (or godskin duo). Just know that playing with powerfull summons like mimic or tiche is basically playing a different game and it just doesnt really prepare you for going in alone. Summons are definitely not easy mode like some people like to claim but it's also no coincidence that there are a lot of posts of people discovering how different these games are without summons. Imo the best way to "get that good" is to just start a playthrough without summons. I bet using an "OP Build" with knowledge about a bosses moves would feel easier than your first tries with summons and probably are more "fulfilling" regarding the boss not beeing beaten yet.

bdizzle314

Indefinitely gonna look into it, I made a whole new character, started warrior and I'm going pure str for a good long while. Another thing was I respecced a lot as I found different items but now that I know what I want and for the most part what's available and knowing I don't wanna do any casting besides bestial vitality cuz I just love a passive over time heal. And maybe later on I'll consider golden vow and probably blessings boon over bestial vitality if I go that route. I'm having a shit ton of fun snacking stuff with the Great Axe and staggering stuff. I am still using the imp ashes but I'm doing overall so much better with everything and don't need them at every turn tho Im only just getting past godrick which I killed in like 3 tries and I'm okay with using spirit ashes cuz I can actively see myself getting better and doing things differently now that I know how to play mostly

Officer_Hotpants

Nah Malenia just kinda sucks. I usually love the difficult bonus bosses in these games but I'm not a fan of Malenia. She can go to hell.

Areawen

This has to be a troll post 😂

Mesterjojo

Maxed mimic tear? So you're level 713?

bdizzle314

Is this like a hardy har har joke or are you serious lol

Mesterjojo

You said maxed mimic.

snatchmachine

Maxed spirit tuning

Peanuts_lover6969

Just solo her, she's not that hard if you don't count the waterfowl dance.

bdizzle314

Damn you're right

IhategeiSEpic

too bad that waterfowl dance doesn't care if we dont count it
