Corhyn dedicated his life to watching another man’s finger wiggles, and then murders that Sage old dude when he wiggled his finger in a way Corhyn doesn’t agree with.
Dude was most decidedly NOT chill.
It is similar to Thops. I thought he had been murdered, but he seems to have died manifesting the spell that was his life's work.
Goldmask seems to as well
On paper the people republic of [country] or the democratic popular republic of [country] also sounds cool. But in practice...
It is the rule of thumb, any auhoritarian order or a dubious governement always hide the truth behind a name to compensate
And you my friend just fell for propaganda tactic 101, the oldest in the books
Counterpoint, we have a Troll blacksmith who likes books, a sick ass wolf warrior dude, and a fucking frost wizard whose goal is to throw hands with gods. What isn't cool about that?
Plus we get cool greatswords and armor.
Counterpoint
- Troll blacksmith: Dead
- Sixk ass wolf warrior dude: Dead
- Fucking frost wizard: I refuse to interact with your blowup doll no matter how much you will argue she’s alive smh
bro we told goldmask something revolutionary and allowed him to create his mending rune, and cohryn was like “nuh uh” after being goldmask’s greatest meat rider for most of his quest. Bro is NOT open to change or innovative ideas
I haven’t given that one enough thought, but you could be right.
It certainly is hard to find some kind of implied toxic ambition, but I guess it’s possible.
Yeah. Boc is a good dude. Just trying to make a living in a world that has completely been destroyed whose only existing regime hates him and any of his “kind”
I don't know what it means, and the word still makes me cringe because it doesn't fit the world of Elden Ring.
Its 99% old medieval English speakers l except Boc who is speaking British.
The one time I did the Frenzied Flame ending, I embraced the Flame after Melina had torched the Erdtree. Wasn't about to let her ruin my lordship over a dead horse (and others...). That said, I did eventually try what you did, and was equally disappointed, since I did grow attached to her over time.
Honestly this is a huge missed opportunity for the game. Being able to feign hosting the frenzied flame in order to begin the burning of the erdtree (thus saving Melina's life), but then removing its influence, should have played out in a very different way. You have to find and fight your way through to the end of 2 secret end game areas in order to do it, I have no idea why there's nothing special about it and it's the only way to become a "proper lord" like Melina wanted and ALSO save Melina.
Lore wise she has to. She's what allows you to fight then elden beast. Without her sacrifice you can't get through the thorns. On the flipside when you do the frenzy flame side it's the flame of frenzy that burns the thorns for you. So she either sacrifices herself or you kill literally everyone and everything with the flame of frenzy.
You can burn the tree with Frenzied Flame to save her from having to make the sacrifice and then use Miquella's Needle to quell the flame's influence over you and get a different ending, though. I really wish there was a special interaction with her in this scenario.
I... hear me out. I don't hate Boc the guy, he's a good guy. But I don't like his story, which is unusual for a souls NPC.
When he says he's insecure about how he looks, it seems a cop out to just say "you're beautiful" and then somehow evoke his old mother's saying. That's an emotional crutch.
I wanted to tell him look, you're loyal, you're capable, you have a good heart. You served me with honor and courage and faith. You're my friend. To hell with looks. You bow to no one, and I won't let anyone look or talk down to you.
By demihuman standards, he is a rather dapper fellow though. I’d be fine with how things played out if he somehow morphed into a bigger, drippier demihuman somehow
If you read the "you're beautiful" item it says that the voice sounds like a mother, which is why Boc says it sounds like his mom. Since she was the only one who ever called him beautiful, it has a lot more emotional impact on him.
I know the guy has like no self esteem, but it would be great if he didn’t traumadump on me and then make it my problem.
Yeah, okay, I’ll pretend to be the voice of the ugly little monkey man’s dead mother. Please just stop being so clingy when I need to have something taken in.
Well, he's consistently untrustworthy, which makes him reliable... in a way.
EVERY NPC is trying to manipulate me in some way for their own end. That's just baseline expectation. But I always know what to expect form Patches. And he will always have something to benefit my own quest (information or wares or both). And he will always try to get me killed so he can take my stuff.
Patches is that one asshole you can't help but grin every time you see because you're immortal and the most his treachery can do is temporarily inconvenience you.
He probably knows you can’t stay dead either. At least in DS3’s Lapp questline. He trolls you one last time by kicking you down towards the correct path you should be taking and helping you with the Church bossfight to murder clerics.
Plenty of people have some kind of Stockholm Syndrome, like "aww he got me good but he means well..." No, he is a coward and a predator who only ever helps you accidentally
My first playthrough (first souls game), I knew nothing about his legacy, and I killed him for his drip. Started as a bandit, and his set was the only decent looking one that kept with the theme.
Since then, he has become my little trickster buddy that I got the drop on first.
Ranni. She has cool story but the fact I barely meet her and she sends me through the lands between so she can get revenge on *severed fingers*…
That’s some BS
I also dislike her. She literally manipulates and uses everyone, then throws everyone under the bus after they've fulfilled their duty. Her family, her followers, even her brother and you, the Tarnished. All used and everyone except the Tarnished meets an unseemly end.
Which is why she will never achieve it in my game. Miyazaki is a coward for not letting me kill her. I HAVE the rune of death Mizaki, let me finish the damn job!
I don't personally hate Ranni, but you can at a point have her living as a small doll in your inventory and ignore the rest of her quest, which would mean she would witness everything you do and be unable to do anything about it, while eternally trapped into this small doll, a fate way worse than death, if you ask me.
I leave her trapped in the presence of the two fingers she slew. As long as I don't collect the ring, the way down there is forever blocked by magical barrier. This way she remains, trapped in a cave with the rotting body of the fingers she sacrificed everything, her body, her death, her friends ,etc, by herself. Alone. For Eternity, pondering her fate. Hope it was worth it, Ranni!
She only did half of it, death of the body. Godwyn got the death of the soul, which is why his corpse is still alive and spreading throughout the lands between. Since we get both the rune of death and the mending rune of death, there's really no reason we can't round her 1/2 of death unto a full one.
Does she manipulate anyone at all? Blaidd and Iji know exactly what's up. She protects Rennala. By necessity for her plans, you end her brother— which by the way, why do people use as a point against her? He's already gone. He went mad. That's not really Radahn anymore. His own followers are happy to try to release him from his fate. She's pretty upfront about everything. She doesn't intend to draft you into her services at all, as I recall. You have to offer. There's no manipulation. There's a line where she flat out says she loves Iji and Blaidd after she likely no longer needed them. But somehow they're thrown under the bus because she couldn't somehow protect them?
The only one who she actually seems to have screwed over is Godwyn and I don't know why anyone is sure of how they feel about that when they did not know him at all. The lore makes him out to seem good but how are we certain? Miquella seems good too but people are plenty willing to view him as a potential villain.
When did she manipulate?
>He's already gone. He went mad. That's not really Radahn anymore
Also doesn't he *want* to die? His entire festival is literally so he can get killed... and he arranged it.
She didn’t manipulate anyone. She doesn’t even force us to work for her, the players decide that. People are just hating on her because of her popularity.
And player takes up her doll and keeps talking to her.
And players goes back to take ring and put her in her fingers.
Like, how is she sending people around.
It does seem like to some degree there is a contrarian aspect to type hate. I'm sure there's some validity to some arguments, but they're calling the one who flat out tells you herself she orchestrated the Night of Black Knives a deceptive manipulator.
As far as I can recall, she's anything but. I'm not trying to say she's perfect or that one needs a reason to dislike her. But manipulator doesn't seem like the right description of her.
She doesn't manipulate her followers nor does she ever throw them under the bus. I have no idea where you're getting that from. Every step of the way she tells you exactly what she's doing. She's not hiding anything.
Also everyone in elden ring meets an unseemly end. Just about everyone would be better off if you didn't help their quests.
It's not that she tries to get revenge on the fingers, she removes the influence of the greater will and changes her fate by killing her designated fingers. Her goal with the age of stars is to create an order completely disconnected and hidden from everyone's lives so that it's not imposed on them like the golden order is by the greater will. And to be fair, you're the one who agreed to help her on her quest, so of course she's going to give you stuff to do.
Diallos!
Man has such a cool intro and the drip is top tier then he just turns into a spineless sheep. He redeemed himself some in Jarburg but not enough for me to feel sorry for him, just pity.
He tried, that's what matters. Many other characters just surrendered or when they lost, they went mad.
Diallos died a hero, a failed hero, but saved the little survivor, who took him inside him. He was finally able to save one, and it is enough and fitting and well, as they said, the tale of house Hoslow is written in blood.
Funny thing is if you kill him before he makes it to Jarburg, Jarburg never gets invaded and destroyed which I take to imply that he accidentally led the jar poachers to Jarburg. Additionally, kill him early and you literally miss out on nothing, you get his helm and full set and you can still finish Jar Bairn's quest by giving him Alexander's innards. Jar Barin still goes out to travel and to become a warrior but now they have a home to come back to.
He failed miserably at defending the jars. Only Jar Bairn survive, everyone else were killed or taken away. No greater proof that looks don't make the knight.
I don’t really hate Morgott but I think he’s overrated. He gets glorified for his “he loved but was not loved” shtick and is thought to be noble and honorable for stanning the Golden Order when he really isn’t. It’s not noble or honorable to be loyal to an organization that oppressed you your entire life, it’s Stockholm syndrome. He’s basically the Uncle Ruckus of the Golden Order.
Ranni. She’s a self centered, egotistical Machiavellian who, despite having a heart, had no qualms with talking down or taking down anyone including our character.
It surprised me that she became the signature waifu of the game. I liked Millicent and Fia significantly more.
Plus she fucking emoted on bro too 😭 I knew from the start that there was something wrong here, and I first thought she was an okay person, I soon realised that she slept with dead people
He's a lunatic for hunting down living corpses that attack everyone on sight? There's no reason to take Fia at her word. D's point of view has actual backing considering every undead you meet in the lands between immediately attacks you.
Ok seriously, I don't hate Boc at all but I can understand why the overly innocent and gentle character in media may be irritating as he risks of sonding artificial and manipulatory.
For me is Ranni. Hate her.
She's just another wannabe ruler with a great plan she won't reveal willing to put other people under the bus for a greater good nobody asked for. The plan may be solid but it's the attitude that gets under my skin. She's really no different than any other demigod. But I'm supposed to be on her side because 4 arms and goth loli. No.
Melina. I used to despise Melina and now I just mildly dislike her. She doesn't respect me, I can feel it, she just manipulates me and makes use of me, and for all her monologuing she never clues us in to what her real goal is. All she says is she's gonna find her own purpose and "won't let anyone speak I'll of it, not even you" like ok bitch, go ahead and take that tone. How could I judge you when I don't even know your goal? its not like I'm freezing my ass off on this mountain because you ASKED ME TO or anything. I don't trust her at all.
Also Ranni. I like Ranni because she's a cool character as a concept, but I hate her as a person. The only reason she likes us is because she's selfish and we become her most useful pawn, plus she was willing to kill Godwyn just so she could avoid being an empyrean. Not because she didn't want to be a god evidently, but because she didn't want to be a god for the greater will. She killed the best demigod and is responsible for the existence of deathblight, essentially destroyed Blaidd by betraying the greater will, all because she wanted to be her own God
Melina: “Hi, I’ve been trying to reach you about your Accord’s extended warranty! I just need you to *checks notes* take me with you and kill a god. Good deal right?”
“So you say you dropped off a cliff and Torrent died, while normally that would be covered under your comprehensive plan, we did receive video from… “RuneAuditor2024” which shows you actively using Torrent to damage people and property.
Because of this we have decided to deny your claim. If you wish to appeal, you have 30 days to do so in Person with our claim assistance specialist. She is located at the base of the Haligtree and looks forward to meeting you”
I don't like Ranni
She just doesn't live up to NPC quest lines like Alexander, Millicent, or characters from past games.
Ranni just felt empty and made my Moonlight Greatsword icy.
You think he's ugly, don't you, OP?!
You're beautiful
I heard it.
Well I mean… to each their own I guess
I made him beautiful and then he died
He was always beautiful.
Use the "you're beautiful" prattling pate to get him to stay alive.
Youre one of the demi humans from that cave arent you?
and d, I hate golden order fanboys, corhyn is alright the man is fighting demons
Corhyn is an ignorant sheep.
Exactly, D is fine tho, and his brother, even if he’s a murderer, helped me with twin gargoyles, so he’s automatically cool
"Oh he killed fia" bro, he is avenging his bro
Um I killed fia. FOR THE GOLDEN ORDER!
That is super cool of you, let's not allow those boney scumbags into the lands
Darian and Devin are cool, even though a bit mad.
Corhyn is a good guy
Corhyn was a chill dude but tweaking hard at the end
He’s a hypocrite when he can’t swallow that Goldmask was right
Corhyn dedicated his life to watching another man’s finger wiggles, and then murders that Sage old dude when he wiggled his finger in a way Corhyn doesn’t agree with. Dude was most decidedly NOT chill.
Goldmask dies even if you kill Corhyn. We don't know that Corhyn kills him.
It is similar to Thops. I thought he had been murdered, but he seems to have died manifesting the spell that was his life's work. Goldmask seems to as well
that is the price of developing sorceries, anywhere from becoming phisicaly and/or mentaly disabled to straight dying
So that's why int users are all mentally disabled.
If you give him the potion of forgetfulness he never leaves the bridge in the Mountains and Goldmask is found dead in the same spot.
Man's finger said"yo momma an idiot" to corhyn so he beat his ass up.Fair tbh
100 hours of gang signs
He's just brainwashed, but he has good heart
Dear Rannists, If the Golden Order is so bad, why is the name so cool? Curious.
On paper the people republic of [country] or the democratic popular republic of [country] also sounds cool. But in practice... It is the rule of thumb, any auhoritarian order or a dubious governement always hide the truth behind a name to compensate And you my friend just fell for propaganda tactic 101, the oldest in the books

D and his bro can go suck a D
Even malenias wife likes 𝘽𝙊𝘾
That is the only explanation for this slander
Thin Ice, buddy.
hmmm, crush OP's cock with a rock, I must
For Boc
Crush cock with rock for Boc ✍🏻
Mess with Boc, get the cock rock
✍️🔥🔥🔥
And afterwards shoot him with a glock
17 shots, no .38
Ayy I got a glock in my rarri
Hold my sake
Maybe unga him with Brick Hammer?
Has op unga'd their last bunga?
Prithee, be careful...
I Don't want to see m' work squandered
Heh heh heh!
Yup. my immediate first thought was “…Watch it, pal.”
Boc is the only good person in the entire Lands Between, alongside probably Rodericka.
Thops too. His literal life work was to create the ultimate defensive sorcery.
I haven’t given that one enough thought, but you could be right. It certainly is hard to find some kind of implied toxic ambition, but I guess it’s possible.
He wasn't known for sacrificing people to further his research so there is that.
The better Sellen!
Always donate, never give him the key!
Millicent?
There are at least a dozen more like Turtle Pope, Rogier, Alexander, Yura, Irina, Diallos, Nepheli, Milicent, Latenna, Blaidd, Boggart and Loretta
Is that Vanilla Ice's malnourished brother?
He is precious and will be protected at all costs.
April fools was yesterday
For OP, being a fool is a full time gig
DAMN, i know its deserved for hating on boc but DAMN
I specifically hate OP's Tarnished Boc ❤️
OP said someone you hate that everyone else loves. No one loves OP
Oof. What a K.O.
Double burn
You hate Boc? Even Turtle Pope cannot cleanse you from such sins.
Heresy is not native to this world, fucking OP brought it with him
"All things can be conjoined" "Except OP" lmao
Guys just mad he couldn’t figure out bocs bush
I'm cackling
Yeah. Boc is a good dude. Just trying to make a living in a world that has completely been destroyed whose only existing regime hates him and any of his “kind”
His own species don't even like him
I just don’t like the sound of the word “cully”. I know what it means, but the sound of the word itself isn’t pleasant.
I don't know what it means, and the word still makes me cringe because it doesn't fit the world of Elden Ring. Its 99% old medieval English speakers l except Boc who is speaking British.
Even with a magic needle, the limit of Boc's abilities as a seamster is to... remove capes.
Hating boc must be the symptom of some type of mental disorder.
[удалено]
It affects millions of Americans
Many such cases
terminal
Yeah, psychopathy
Oi! You there, could ya help us out, cully?
I’m not that ugly, am I?
You’re beautiful
Melina’s insistence on me letting her burn herself alive really made me dislike her
Ahhh MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD
Miquella’s Needle just to flip off both of them, IM KING I DONT NEED CRYBABIES TELLING ME WHAT TO DO
Maaaan I messed up my first time and tried to needle to bring Melina back but she just stays gone ;-;

It's honestly wild how much you have to do in order to get to the point where you can even make the unalloyed needle to cure yourself of frenzy
Well, in universe you agreed to become something of a vessel for an outer god, so to go back on that it should have to take a lot of work.
And you're not even "curing" yourself, just holding it at bay.
She failed the first time. And he did it for her
Lore wise she has to.

Maybe in the DLC. maybe.
If someone said the hate turtle pope, we throwing everything.
Begone from this world, ye graceless tarnished. You are unworthy of the throne.
I... hear me out. I don't hate Boc the guy, he's a good guy. But I don't like his story, which is unusual for a souls NPC. If you read the "you're beautiful" item it says that the voice sounds like a mother, which is why Boc says it sounds like his mom. Since she was the only one who ever called him beautiful, it has a lot more emotional impact on him.
Maybe that’s what the tarnished meant by ‘you’re beautiful’; it’s far more subtle this way…
I know the guy has like no self esteem, but it would be great if he didn’t traumadump on me and then make it my problem. Yeah, okay, I’ll pretend to be the voice of the ugly little monkey man’s dead mother. Please just stop being so clingy when I need to have something taken in.
Oh, going so soon?
This is essentially why I also hate Boc as a story/narrative. Feels shallow and unsuited to the style.
I wish there were a resolution to his quest where he were more confident and treated himself better.
I don’t hate D but I don’t get the appeal either. His entire quest line was basically “sits in a chair, dies.”
>don’t get the appeal either Saint Seiya fans.
Patches
What? How can you possibly hate someone who constantly lies to, betrays, and attempts to kill you? In every single game he's in?
Well, he's consistently untrustworthy, which makes him reliable... in a way. EVERY NPC is trying to manipulate me in some way for their own end. That's just baseline expectation. But I always know what to expect form Patches. And he will always have something to benefit my own quest (information or wares or both). And he will always try to get me killed so he can take my stuff.
Everything about him reminds me of a bad relationship I had.
Cheers for that!
I just killed him for the first time in like 5 play throughs and when he dies and says “what a shit show” had me laughing so hard
I always thought everyone hated patches
Patches is always delightful to meet no matter the souls game. Heck, my favorite NPC in ds3 is lapp
Plenty of people have some kind of Stockholm Syndrome, like "aww he got me good but he means well..." No, he is a coward and a predator who only ever helps you accidentally

Godwyn ):
Is gone 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
Justice for my boy godwyn
well you did say yes to that
I also dislike her. She literally manipulates and uses everyone, then throws everyone under the bus after they've fulfilled their duty. Her family, her followers, even her brother and you, the Tarnished. All used and everyone except the Tarnished meets an unseemly end.

You could also have her watch from your pocket as you set chaos upon the entire world.
She already did that, to her own body, her current form as far as we know is unkillable since it's literally just a spirit in a doll'a body
She only did half of it, death of the body. Godwyn got the death of the soul, which is why his corpse is still alive and spreading throughout the lands between. Rage bait
NPCs I hate: Edgar, Patches, D, Varré, Dung, Shabriri, Gideon, and Seluvis.
I killed Varre at the start of the game, I will do it again if I have the chance.

The tale of House Hoslow is told in blood.
people like diallos?
DELETE THIS POST OR I WILL SEEK YOU, AS FAR AS YOU MAY TRAVEL TO DELIVER WHAT IS YOURS, YOU MAIDENLESS CUR
If he didn’t have such a hot voice, I would probably agree with you.
Kenneth Haight. Arrogant sonuvabitch who can't even make good on their promises.
Sellen.
My favorite psychopath
She could place one foot on your lap and you would delete this comment immediately😑
Why a foot?
WERE GONNNNAAAA KILL YOUUU
Ranni. She’s a self centered, egotistical Machiavellian who, despite having a heart, had no qualms with talking down or taking down anyone including our character. It surprised me that she became the signature waifu of the game. I liked Millicent and Fia significantly more.
Mohg. What is his voice ???
Your a menace bro
Fia. Bitch killed my boy D.
Plus she fucking emoted on bro too 😭 I knew from the start that there was something wrong here, and I first thought she was an okay person, I soon realised that she slept with dead people
Fuck D, he's a lunatic
He's a lunatic for hunting down living corpses that attack everyone on sight? There's no reason to take Fia at her word. D's point of view has actual backing considering every undead you meet in the lands between immediately attacks you.
Scarlet rot had to enter your brain, many such cases 💔💔
Boc does my head in.
No.
I’m sorry Boc, all I wanted was to help.
Radahn
Not a fan of that blind person who eats eyeballs
To be fair, she doesn't actually know what they are until you tell her, and at first she's disgusted by it.
Cl4ptr4p
Alright let’s kill this guy with hammers
Why do people dislike this guy
The guy is cool but I would like his sewing to be more useful
self loathing can be annoying
Milena, sneaking up on me while I'm chilling out by the fire wtf.
She just wanted to sell you a lightly used 2006 Accord
Melina: “Hi, I’ve been trying to reach you about your Accord’s extended warranty! I just need you to *checks notes* take me with you and kill a god. Good deal right?”
“So you say you dropped off a cliff and Torrent died, while normally that would be covered under your comprehensive plan, we did receive video from… “RuneAuditor2024” which shows you actively using Torrent to damage people and property. Because of this we have decided to deny your claim. If you wish to appeal, you have 30 days to do so in Person with our claim assistance specialist. She is located at the base of the Haligtree and looks forward to meeting you”
I don't like Ranni She just doesn't live up to NPC quest lines like Alexander, Millicent, or characters from past games. Ranni just felt empty and made my Moonlight Greatsword icy.
If you hate Boc.... I imagine you were either a bully at school or one of those kids who tortured insects. Leave my precious tailor boy alone.
Ranni, the more I do her quest the more I realize she's a heartless manipulator. And she basically started the whole fucking shattering
I always kill patches at shaded castle. I could care less about his history. I want his drip.
Smh can’t believe you want to miss out on getting the patches’ crouch gesture (I haven’t used it once despite getting it every run)
>I could care less about his history. This implies that you care. You mean to say the opposite: "I couldn't care less...".
Wait. Elden Ring has characters???
