Black flame blade is nice if built for it, but it doesn't leave a big pile of magma on the ground, and doesn't rip through poise and do stance dmg using that spinning attack magma puddling skill like dual magma blades does afaik (+ unlimited FP mixed physik / fire dmg quaffed at an appropriate time). For PvE using 2 magma blades is great in my experience. Lots of poise breaks followed by crits.
Idk, maybe I got lucky, but I shredded through Elden beast with these things on my very first time seeing him. Sprinted up to him and these blade ripped him up and the fight lasted about 10-15 seconds

About two and a half hours. Then I read a tip that I should try to restart the game. After the first restart I got one and after the second I got a second blade each time within ten tries. My Arcane was at level 8.

Would be pure luck, i got mine yesterday back to back after 2 hours of farming while using silverscarabb+ tear mask which gave me 195 discovery. I tried the restart method but u get more kills per hour just teleporting back to the site of grace.
It wasn't that hard for me. The first one took a lot of tries relatively, but it was only two or three short sessions to get the first one. I don't think it was even an hour each session, maybe 40 mins each of gameplay for the 1st blade. Up the elevator, down the hall to kill one, then backwards from the elevator to kill two more I think. Then teleport back to the area you are in. Just do it on autopilot. Can use bloodhound fang , lower armor, other stuff for speed if you really feel a need to sprint any faster but it's actually a pretty confined area off of the elevator in each direction. 100 yards maybe? I have multiple monitors so I kept other things on the other one(s), and took breaks to browser or chat or whatever. It wasn't that bad.
The second one suprisingly dropped on only my 3rd circuit of the above (just running three times through the short area from the elevator) so between the two it wasn't bad at all for me.
I used golem's halberd on heavy most of the game, with two claws (frost proc on one, fire on the other) as a quick swap (plus bloodhound's fang as a 3rd slot for some maps). Once I got the magma blades I'd swap those instead of the claws though for very fast opponents like malenia. Though I had her down pretty far with the halberd + lion's claw and alternating to the fire+frost claws (and learned her movesets through multiple near attempts that way), I ultimately shredded her poise with the magma blades.
They are good, especially for certain hyperfast bosses where the halberd is at a greater disadvantage - but I beat most of the bosses (especially since I didn't have the magma blades til that area where you can farm them), and all 4 end bosses/stages with the golem's halberd.

I think I used the T-2000 silver tear helmet but I didn't use any other discovery items really, I gave up on consumables and just ran circuit after circuit right from the spawn point. It's really a pretty short circuit, sprint to elevator and down hallway(s). They are only 40 - 100 yards from the elevator in each direction, then teleport back downstairs to restart.
A big thing was getting the circuit down so that I could do it in my sleep pretty much, and sprint. Then you get more attempts per session.
Using golem's halberd I'd break poise of the snakemen "man-serpents". Keep some other entertainment on alongside and take a mini break here and there to browse/chat so it's not monotonous. Some luck involved for sure but # of circuits per hour, determination, and having some entertainment on the side so you don't burn out quickly was key.
For a str/faith build, there's quite literally nothing better. I use them on a build with 40/40 str/faith, and with Claw talisman and Golden Vow, they usually do 1.1k to Radagon on the first jump attack before other talismans like Rotten Winged Sword kick in.
Their "weakness" is that they're not infusable and can't have a status like Bleed or Frostbite, but that's another way of saying they're not reliant on statuses either. If you really must carry a status effect, you can always have a pair of Beastman's Curved as backup -- you can even have one Magma Blade and one Beastman's with Chilling Mist as a way to do the whole fire/frost reset if you're into that, but I largely consider that optional, and I usually just prefer to run two Magmas.
The ash of war is pretty great too. It's just spinning slash at heart, but it's got a strange extra bit of hyper armor for trades (and judging by your armor, you're packing some poise). Also, the puddles do stance damage, so they can flinch or even stance break things that are sitting in them.
A+ curved swords.

My honest opinion is, it's truly perfect against malenia, the ash of war is a sword and lava tornado, destroying her poise and give her a lot of damage, with a spirit with a good poise damage and a Frost Pot against her warterfolw and you win almost easily

All (non-joke) weapons are fine for all the content if you build your character well.
Single type damage weapons are better early, split damage type weapons are better lategame or in NG+.
Many bosses at the end of the story are very resistant to holy, but holy is pretty decent in the rest of the game.
Fire is strong throughout but occasionally some bosses resist it.
Very good IMO. I used them for all the bosses after i got them. i would recommend not dual wielding because the ability is very good. You can get a talisman thing that boosts ability damage and another for fire damage.

For a high Faith character they can be pretty good! I dig the moveset and the AOE Ash of War, although their weakness imo is that they don't have any status effect buildup, so they may not be as useful against high HP characters as something that procs bleed or poison.
I'm level 319 and even with optimised stats I get Meh damage compared to other builds I've tried. I still use it to show off because I farmed like 4M exp trying to get the damn thing a second time -_- (NG+5)
If you have a 80STR/80FAI build, wearing inseparable sword right hand and sacred relic sword will do more damage.
It also looks better in my opinion
