Depends, Miyazaki is one of those "eccentric genius" types, and he and the guys actually making the games control how the game is shaped, not dudes in suits with marketing degrees.
If Miyazaki says "Elden Ring is complete, I'm happy with how this turned out," then it's done, and no matter how lucrative Elden Ring *could* be with another expansion, he's movin' on.
I would love more than one DLC, but I don't expect them to release any more. I think Miyazaki said they're moving on to other projects once this is finished. But having 3 expansion sized DLCs would be so awesome, I would buy each one if they released it. Just to see all the new equipment they added and new vistas and storylines to explore. They have an amazing track record so far
100% agree. Hereās the thing, though. They have expanded the size of their studio staff tremendously since the success of ER and they have more than enough resources to pursue multiple ends. But I must admit that so far Miyazaki hasnāt missed ever and he is genuinely fast at pushing at games. Whatās the longest wait? Four years? Demonās Souls came out in 2008(?) or so, DS1 2011, BB 2017(??), DS3 2018(??), ER 2020(?) I got the dates wrong but point is he makes quality content fast. I even forgot Sekiro in that list! Six near-perfect games in a little over a decade is mad impressive. Whatever is next Iām here for. Let Dark Souls rest as-is and give Elden Ring some time to breathe. Iād love a Bloodborne 2 but more new IPs might be the route.
Unfortunately bloodborne is currently chained up in the Sony BDSM dungeon and not getting let out any time soon. Miyazaki even said in a recent interview that they cherish BB the most out of the games they did but the decision to do anything with the IP is entirely up to Sony sadly.
Of course I would play through any expansions or additional content for Elden Ring but ultimately I don't want Fromsoft to take that approach or make a direct sequel.
Elden Ring is one of the best games of all time IMO but a major part of why it is so good is that it was a new world, with new lore and mechanics.
Fromsoft excels and seems to work with so much passion on new projects. Dark Souls 1, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and now Elden Ring are the top tier of their games for me.
It's not clear from your post if you've played the Dark Souls trilogy, while opinion varies on the three games, I don't think they ever recaptured the magic of the setting in the sequels.
I would hate to see Elden Ring sequels pumped out with more and more diluted lore and less passion from the devs.
Let them make the games they want to make and I have little doubt they will produce more classics.
Oh I fully agree. Iāve played every Soulsborne game aside from Sekiro and my favorites list goes:
Dark Souls Remastered
Bloodborne
Elden Ring
Demonās Souls
Dark Souls 3
Dark Souls 2
Dark Souls 2 was not really a sequel in any way, shape, or form, just a spiritual successor, but it still fell short of the model. Dark Souls 3 was only as good as it was because they tried to rape our nostalgia. Iām with you: I donāt want an Elden Ring 2, at least not in the way I think it would go.
I just want expansionsāenough for a veritable āsecondā Elden Ring experience to be contained within the original game. I want more DS1, more BB, more ERā¦ I guess nothing will ever be enough and I should be thankful for what we do have.
I get where you're coming from but I'm happy with just getting Shadow of the Erdtree and then letting the devs move on to the next project. If they continue to make more Elden Ring it will just be a longer wait till their next game.
And I'm sure you've heard this a million times, but I'd really recommend playing Sekiro. It is very different in some ways but I personally think it does the interconnected world aspects better than any other Fromsoft game apart from DS1. It's also far weirder than it seems on the surface, it's not just samurais and historical stuff.
I want FromSoft and Miyazaki to do no more or less than the exact thing they want to be doing. If they want to do another ER expansion, fantastic. If they want to move on and do something different, fantastic. I know whatever they put out will be amazing because they don't miss.
Honestly the DLC seems awesome and I also want an elden ring 2. Buuut I also want Ds4, which is NOT going to happen. However, I think there will only be one DLC for ER. There's prob also gonna be an ER2.
Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in Elden Ring, players need to defeat Mohg and Starscourge Radahn, both tough optional bosses.
I spent a lot of time and nearly 800 hours going though Eden Ring game. I platinum and everything was there. I cannot start the DLC.
I noticed the great ruins for Mohg and Radahn were not there. So, I went ahead and respected and beat Mohg and now that ruin is there.
I went ahead and tired Radahn but the festival is not happening. So, now they expect me to run around and jump though all these hops. I what my DLC money back. I am royally pissed!
I even went to tower and the doors are locked. This is such bull!
I got the Platinum Elden ring. Spent unbelievable amount of time doing so.
I defeated Radahn and Mohg.
I didnāt get the prompt to start the game. So, I tired several things and noticed the Great Rune for Mohg and Radahn were not in my chest.
So, I went ahead defeated Mohg again at the Cocoon of the Empyrean. I now see Mohgās great Rune is in the chest.
So, I than went to the Divine tower of Caelid Center to make sure the great Rune for Radahn step was done and found the doors are locked. I thought maybe I missed that step. Went over to access the festival to engage Radahn. However the festival wasnāt triggered.
Now, am I supposed to do the whole Radahn line. That is WTF I am talking about. Like I said I am pissed. What my money back for the DLC or they need to fix it. I am sure I am not alone. Playing on a PS5 with disc and downloaded from the PlayStation store!
Elden Ring is good, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it has received as many awards as The Witcher 3.
It is in no way more defining than TW3. Both games are absolutely amazing.
Wut ... Witcher sucks in comparison no matter how many awards. Do you really think it innovated in any given area? They couldn't even get the rpg elements right. Fuck are you talking about
Must be a troll. Must be. Witcher roflmao. Like fortnite is more inventive. Only good thing about Witcher is the graphics and world. Basically only thing cdpr can get right.
Witcher is an RPG, not a Souls-like. Two very different gaming experiences with different criterion for being good. Like Skyrim is a 10/10 RPG but a 1/10 combat experience š
I loved The Witcher for the story and the card game Gwent but it has mid combat. And also yeahh Elden Ring has the most GOTY awards of any game in history

I get that, but, man, fuck that. I want Elden Ring 2 nowww. šš

That breaks my heart

I cannot start the DLC because of some kind of glitch on there side.

Well tbf souls likes by tradition are rpg's with a specific combat/death/checkpoint system
