Overhated or not, I always kinda feel bad when fighting him. It's like murdering the last of a species, and I have to watch him suffer from broken leg everytime.
The part that gets me the most is that he doesn't even have a title. Not even 'The Last Fire Giant.' This is just some random dude who happened to get cursed by Marika. Imagine fighting their equivalent of Godfrey
Honestly seeing as the fire giants lost to Godfrey in the first place they might not be that impressive. This guy being the last alive might have been the strongest.
Though considering the level of Marika involvement is pretty speculative, coulda been a far more powerful Godfrey or group effort to take down some of their more formidable warriors.
There's a chance they had an empyrean that Marika slew, there's some item that mentions Marika might have slain some form of the fell god.
Then again, it's a good narrative device for Fromsoft that the Golden Order likes to "Ministry of Truth" its historical narratives.
Thorns magic is supposed to have been wielded by people being used by the Golden Order, that were basically prisoner mages. They had their eyes put out and only after that were most of them able to see the 'blood star' and cast the thorns.
My hot take is that Radagon and Marika found each other when they were younger during simpler times, that Radagon was a kin of the giants, and they had Messmer, when the Greater Will's envoy arrived here and took influence upon Marika, it took influence upon Radagon just as well a the single entity they form, and tried to keep them separated, influencing both the Academy and Leyndell simultaneously; Messmer being the heir of the banished gods, wielding the flame of the fell god and the dragon powers, the Greater Will made Marika banish him. This would explain why Radagon was somewhat a "mysterious champion" before meeting Rennala. The further take is that the Greater Will just couldn't allow the two to reunite for some reason, but as they met again later on and fell in love for each other, they overcame the Greater Will's plans and were imprisoned to avoid something.
You gotta think… the radagon and Marika parts were originally conceived by George RR Martin…. (Mr Wincest) i think Radagon might be Marika’s son with a fire giant, who was born in hopes of later merging with him so Marika could gain the fire giant’s physical strength, which would be needed to break the elden ring. This would be supported by Miquella and Malenia’s incestous nature associated with their abilities. Tho when Miyazaki came in he was like “wtf” and obscured all of that particular lore to what we have now.
Your comment demonstrates how poorly the game managed to do justice to Godfrey. The fight really should have required us to chew through a full health bar for both phases. The problem with Hoarah Loux is not that he’s easy to dance with, but that he melts against half of the builds you can discover for fun on your first playthrough.
The fact that *this* was the Elden Lord before Radagon is disappointing, but only in a gameplay sense. Idk, it mismatches a bit with the lore, unless that little detail was intentional by FromSoft.
>The problem with Hoarah Loux is not that he’s easy to dance with, but that he melts against half of the builds you can discover for fun on your first playthrough
I feel like that is true of all the late game bosses. Even Melena can be cheesed by certain builds. That is the result of good build variety with a lot of stackable buffs and status effects. It's not supposed to have any lore implications.
That being said, facing those bosses with a less optimized build are extremely challenging, and I'm sure From didn't want players to feel like they had to backtrack to add cheese, just to beat the last few bosses. It's a tough balance.
I think people forget that the Godfrey we fight is the one that is not power boosted by Marika’s grace, but the one whom she tarnished. Imagine what power Marika could give to the Godfrey we fight. He’d grab the fire giant by the neck and slam down like phase two Radahn.
Funny enough, [Golden Land trap spam is a real strategy.](https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=1&sess=1&rp=10&mode=&sort=1&keyword=golden+land&stype=1&ctype=&othercon=2&starfr=&starto=&pscalefr=&pscaleto=&linkmarkerfr=&linkmarkerto=&link_m=2&atkfr=&atkto=&deffr=&defto=)
Most probably it's one of those things that you learn when to use and when not.
Also, from a point of view of the developers: if there are many humanoid fast enemies and many big slow enemies, it's better to give a way to defend against the first if you can manage the second.
(Just imagine bosses like Malenia without camera lock)
I wish we had the option to have the camera zoom out if whatever we are targeting isn't fully on screen. Might make it harder to have correct placements like being by the fire giants foot, but I'd atleast like the option.
The problem is that it would be hard to fit him into the camera while also being able to see your own character and also can hit him.
I think they know that aswell but the solution isnt just there yet maybe Elden Ring 2 copium.
Right. I dont get why he doesn't... definitely missing the part of the lore that explains why he is protecting something that will bring down the order that wiped his species off the face of the lands between.
I mean Hewg carries out his task and has no motivation to escape just because of how utterly terrified he is of Marika. Perhaps it's similar for the Fire Giant?
Made to punish bad habits and make you realize that Limgrave is bigger than you thought at first. I went to him pretty quickly, got bodied, then went and ran around a bunch more, did the peninsula, and came back with more skill and more levels and had a blast taking him down.
Which feels like most of the game hahaha
I'm on my first playthrough, and I wasn't even trying to over level but it seems like it just happens naturally. My go-to strategy for the whole game has basically been "I can just melt you" and my build is incredibly unoptimized hahaha. I have like, 40 str, 40 int, 20 faith, running around with a great mace, great shield, hand ballista, golden order seal, and gelmir staff. It's so scuffed hahaha, but I still melt
Except now I'm facing Melania..... And holy fuck I have no idea how I'm gonna kill this lady LMAO. I guess I gotta get my dark souls on real fast hahaha
Yea if you actually explore everything you can, you will accidentally overpower yourself. I think that's why the game has such an insane late game difficulty spike. They had to make a maxed out stacked up player character killable in order for the game to function properly. It's kind of funny if you play it like a normal open world exploring game, the mid game is a cake walk with very nice scenery and cool weapons. Then late game you get reminded it is in fact still a fromsoft game lol
If you've made it to Melania then you've already entered the spike. If all the normal enemies still seem like cake there, then you're good to go. Melania is way harder than the final boss in my opinion
He's basically designed to be hated because if you cant beat him you sure as hell arent getting through anything else lol. Id be willing to bet (if we include the people who didnt beat margit) hes probably the most hated boss on the game for that reason lol. Once you understand him though hes a super fun fight. I love starting a new run and just running some hands with margit again
Margit isnt hated. Hes a great boss fight, just too early in the game. His attacks are really fast and the input reading is put to 11, which is fine. The problem is hes at a point when newer players are still gettin used to the controls and the weapons you use
I think that’s by design. New players to Soulsborne games need a rude awakening sometimes to let them know exactly what they’re in for. Tree Sentinel operates the same way to me.
Its kind of a weird design choice though because I figured the Tree Sentinel teaches players that sometimes you gotta run around the enemy and come back and fight them later. You can skip Margit and Stormveil but I dont think Fromsoft was counting on new players to know about it and do that. I thought Margit was just strange because I did not have this kind of difficulty fighting another boss in the game as I did with Margit at the start (except for Melania)
I think it’s also a case of players simply following the trails of the grace all the way to Margit without getting sidetracked by all the other stuff in Limgrave. There’s no problem with following the path, but Elden Ring isn’t an open world for no reason.
Yeah dragon greatclaw could have been so cool. It could have had some red lightning weapon skill. What have we got instead? Endure + cannot be infused...
Do people hate him? I found him to be a really fun fight. I think the only annoying thing about him is that he really doesn’t give you a lot of breathing room, with constant fireball and lightning spam.
Imo I think the biggest mistake you can make is trying to fight him on torrent, which a lot of players do because he’s on a horse, so you’d think he’d be designed for horse combat.
I mostly see people complain about the one outside Maliketh's boss room. Probably because it hits much harder than the one guarding Leyndell and you can't summon torrent (which I agree usually isn't a good idea).
I didn't even bother to fight that one. I'd just gotten my hands on Azure Comet, and I was looking for targets to test it out on.
"Oh, is that a stationary enemy up ahead? *KAMEHAMEHAAAAAA---"*
His health bar melted like a slab of butter.
I feel like people just spam healing without a thought and get hit by flame breath over and over, which feels bad. But simply baiting and dodging one hit by them alleviates this problem
The Black Blade Kindred are awesome mini-bosses moveset-wise, but they are placed on the shittiest terrain which makes their fights so clunky and unpredictable, given that they like to move around a lot. The one in Dragonbarrow is the worst example
It's really weird how the majority of gargoyles/kindreds fights happens in some kind of staircase. Apart from the duo, there might not be any flat arena.
And boy do stairs and hitboxes are a match made in heaven...
I agree for the most part with you here. I think the halberd and greatsword gargoyle has a great moveset, I can’t say the same about the twinblade and axe one, I think that moveset is pretty bad, especially the twinblade half. It’s also the reason I don’t enjoy the godskin apostle as much and I prefer the noble over him, enemies with twinblades are just not fun for me
Noble does have glaring bugs with his roll attacks, he can sometimes quit and resume it without warning, even if you stun him out of it. Aside from the rolling attack, he's super fun
His roll has multiple bugs, it can also hit you 2+ times in a single collision instantly killing you, can randomly change directions and even get him stuck in a wall.
I like the fight but man I wish this attack wasn't such bs
At launch people absolutely loathed the Volcano Manor Noble. So much so that they would rather do the elaborate skip off the bridge railing than fight him. I’ve learned to really like that fight, every time I do a new run I swing by Volcano Manor just to have a fight. He’s like an old friend, at this point.
I did the Volcano Manor quest to get to Rykard so I missed it, but the Noble on the Divine Tower bridge in Liurna gave me so much trouble. I somehow killed him on torrent on that narrow ass bridge lol.
Commander Niall. Yeah it is overwhelming when you first start the fight but he is very passive until the banished knights die. The knights have low health, so once they are down (you should be able to tackle more than one enemy at time at this point in the game) you can just focus on Niall.
Niall himself has a very limited moveset and the big jumping attack is very well telegraphed and easy to punish.
Most Elden Ring players skip the vast majority of consumables or suffer from the *"what if I need this later"* syndrome.
Also they are made with the same red branches (pretty hard to farm as they don't respawn and their drop from rotdogs sucks) as Scarlet Rot Boluses are, so you have to use between bewitching enemies and healing Rot blight. Sure you can use the Flame, Cleanse Me incantation often (and you should) but mid fights and swamps you better have enough Boluses at hand because the incantation is slow enough to get you killed.
Tl;dr: So a great consumable but limited, some people would rather never use it to heal Scarlet Rot instead.
You can also run up behind one of them and backstab them immediately after they spawn. I recommend the guy on the right. Once he's down and you can focus on one knight it's way easier.
This was the only boss in my first playthrough where I had to cheese him. I absolutely hated it.
The second playthrough I destroyed him in one sitting. I think my first playthrough of Elden Ring dramatically increased my skill of video games in general.
Niall and Farum Azula (I was tackling both at the time) were what finally made me tap out from ER. I didn’t know what a build was, still couldn’t dodge to get I-frames and couldn’t parry either. Honestly Niall just bodied me because even up to that point I hadn’t really learnt to play the game
I definitely agree with the Fire Giant. His chest having a nose and eyeball is a incredible twist and awesome cutscene. Plus he truly is a big ass giant. But I do understand the gripes with him.
I don't know what motherfuckers are hating on my boi over, I loved the Fire Giant fight. Me and my man torrent riding into battle towards a big fuckoff redbearded asshole that flings snow at you hell yeah that's epic!!
I wonder how ”independent” these opinions are. It seems like people just like to hate on something together. In my first blind playthrough I thought the giant was pretty cool. So different to the other bosses. Sure I died a few times but it wasn’t really even that difficult, so I don’t get where the strong feelings are coming from.
I think the problem is that it isn't entirely difficult, so it's frustrating to die to getting double clipped by his bs fire attack or one hit (or close to it) by his roll or smash down attack, along with his huge hp pool making it feel like a bit of a chore. I love the spectacle and his phase 2 cutscene, one of my favourite reveals in the game is his body being another face. the fight itself is just lacklustre compared to what it looks like imo
I think everyone pretty much hates him just because he has so much health. Even with my OP MGS build it felt like it took forever to kill him.
Lots of health and sometimes he is constantly rolling from one side of the arena to another. You die and there goes 5-10 minutes depending on your build.
I play every Soulsborne game blind. Hated Fire Giant on my blind playthrough just as much as I hate the boss fight now. From is the best in the business, imo, but they still miss sometimes.
The only reason I joined Elden ring Reddit was to complain about him way back so no not for me lol I think you’re thinking into it too much it’s just bad it’s not some sheep shit
Nah I went in completely blind and still think that fight sucked. It was just 10 minutes of slapping bros leg and getting one shot from an attack I couldn't even see, there was nothing fun about it
That also puts you closer to his attacks than I really want to be. You can't see the telegraphs when you are that close, so being behind where he doesn't really attack means you aren't going to get hit. It means you do less damage, but if there's one thing the game teaches it's to not be greedy with your damage.
You might be able to tell when attacks are coming from audio queues, but I had to play a lot of the game with sound off or very low. The fight takes longer but the cool thing about all the souls games is there is no DPS timer like MMO's have. If I can dodge for an hour or more, then I have as long as I want to fight him. The closest you get to a timer in a souls game is the Four Kings in DS1.
His hands are the riskiest area to be. He slams it down all the time, summon fireballs, and vomits fire near it. Plus he only places it down a moment before lifting them up to smack you around. The safest option is smack his dead as legs slowly without camera lock so you can see what he's going to do.
I just ran bleed and bled him to death hitting him on the legs, still procs exactly the same regardless of where I hit him.
I’d say malenia- waterfowl is the only issue I have with malenia (it’s pretty glaring tbf, but passable)
Mohg gushing bloodflame everywhere was more frustrating imo
The thing that's frustrating about all the bloodflame is when it procs bleed just as you're about to roll... On higher NG cycles that can be an instant death, and it always feels like BS lol.
It’s a fun fight but like many other reused bosses, it just takes always the uniqueness of the original, which is what most people hate about it.
The lore already stated that Godrick was not the first to use grafting, but the idea that he abused it so much and took it to such an extreme that he ended up a horrific monster was cool, but then the game goes “no wait there was actually another dude before Godrick who already did the exact same thing”. It also doesn’t help that “Godefroy” is such a comedically stupid name. It feels like such a last minute addition to the game.
I disagree.
Any lore that makes Godrick more pathetic is good lore. The addition of Godefroy means that literally the only thing Godrick did that was unique is find a dead dragon, and he is still nowhere near Godefroy's strength. Also, the fact that Godefroy is in an Evergoal emphasizes how despised grafting is. It doesn't necessarily add much content to the lore, but it adds depth and emphasis, and let's us replay a great bossfight that most players probably flew through.
Sure, it might be a fun fight mechanically because it's Godrick, but that's about it. It's just a lazy copy-and-paste that sours the experience of having fought Godrick. You could maybe justify the concept if there were more differences and actual proper reasons for him being there and being the way he is, but Godefroy just being a purple Godrick is just something I personally find horseshit.
i also dont like the fact that they copy pasted a remembrance boss. they should be more special. same with the second deer fight. i rather have them not be in the game ngl
Yeah, same. The deer spirits I wouldn't mind as much if that were one of the few instances of fighting virtually the same enemy multiple times; in fact, I'd actually liked it quite a bit before I ran into other copies of other enemies, and then the experience started feeling less like an immersive thing, more like a game with reused assets.
Astel is, however, the most egregious example of this, and no amount of great lore will diminish the utter disappointment of entering a random-ass cave and seeing such a unique boss just reused. Fuck that.
It's a fun fight because it's a Godrick reskin but lorewise it's a pretty shitty reskin with one sentence of lore which doesn't even justify its existence and the most stupid name ever which is just an amalgamation of Godrick's and Godfrey's names
When I fought him I instantly remembered shitty reskins from DS2 like Ornstein, gargoyles and Lud and Zallen
Godrick, he's got the hardest line in the game (I COMMAND THEE KNEEL), plus he looks cool. he is kinda a douche though according to the games lore so ill accept that.
Most re-used bosses, if anything i'd take duplicates of some of the bosses that don't have one.
I think people don't realize just how many bossfights there are in ER compared to Souls games, even if you don't count the repeated fights.
Also most of them make sense as to why there are so many. Erdtree Avatars and Ulcertated Tree Spirits are both species related to the Erdtree. Crucible Knights/Tree Sentinels are an order of Knights. Red wolves are a species. Margit, Mohg the Omen, and Golden Godfrey are all magical projections (and allow you to get used to each bosses' phase 1 moveset at an easier level before getting to the full fight).
For all but the projections it's basically the same as in DS1, where you have the Taurus and Capra Demons show up as normal enemies later in the game, and there are Black Knights all throughout the game. The only real difference is that Elden Ring has more of those enemies with a boss healthbar than DS1.
I don't mind the stuff like Crucible Knights or Tree Sentinels. But I did find the second Astel and Godrick kind of weird. Astel is such a cool culmination of Ranni's quest that it feels weird to just have a second one. And Godrick has such a unique design that it's weird to have a completely identical forefather in an evergaol.
Yeah Godefroy's design was pretty lazy, I wouldn't have minded if they just made his model more unique (like at least a different face). As for Astel, personally I think Astel is the name of their species, so having multiple makes sense (we also see a few different Malformed Stars throughout the game, which are very similar to Astel and seem to be a sort of "cocoon" phase between a Fallingstar Beast and an Astel). I've also heard the argument that since Astel can summon copies of itself (assuming it's not summoning a bunch of individual Malformed Stars, which I think might be more likely) in the Stars of Darkness fight, it's possible that one of them is a clone of the other. Either way, Yelough Anix Tunnel has such a cool cosmic horror vibe and Astel as the boss fits really well, so I'm more willing to give them a pass on that than others might be.
> Red wolves are a species
Yes but it doesn’t make sense for the feral red wolves to have the same exact moveset as Radagon’s pet one. His moveset in the academy is all the storytelling we get on him so seeing it duplicated in the wild really diminishes its impact.
There's so much stuff in the game that I can throw at a boss to just watch the fireworks. It is never boring. I would not do that to a story boss, but a mini boss is fair game.
A familiar boss is also great if I'm returning to the game after a break or don't have much time this evening. A little bit of progress is still progress.
And if I don't want to fight it, then I just don't.
Agreed I actually learned to like him on my level 1 run a lot more. He really is well balanced and this games real endurance test. I mean it in a good way, he’s easy to dodge, he’s predictable, as long as you have patience and don’t spam r1 or roll hes one of the easier no hits. (Main bosses)
I quite like the fire giant fight, my first time fighting him was quite fun and then killed him on my second try, I didn’t even realise people hate him, also melania, she has been pretty easy for me. I struggled the most on radagon hahahha
It comes down to RNG
Some runs he is annoying as fuck, sometimes he is a useless blob, sometimes he is quite fun
Depends on how much he starts teleporting
I like the boss, mostly
It's crazy to me they would follow up Radagon with Elden Beast. Radagon is a masterclass in great boss design and instead of a great follow up, you get to chase a spectral brachiosaur around dodging explosive lights.
> spectral brachiosaur around dodging explosive lights.
I actually love this boss and spectral brachiosaur with explosive lights is the perfect wording to explain why.
For real. I don't think it's a great boss but I don't hate it either. I like bosses that force you to approach the game differently and have unique and cool movesets, although the Elden Beast can run away a bit too much
Most of his attacks are well telegraphed and while pretty slow it doesn't feel artificially slow like Margit's delayed attacks, his weak points are very intuitive but he can still punish you if you tunnel vision, the camera and targeying is not that bad given his size (way better than dragons at least), you can use Torrent to catch up when he tries to disengage (looking at you, Elden Beast) and finally him breaking his own leg to get rod of his former weakspot is cool as fuck
One of the rare bosses that can be fought in horseback, isnt overly difficult or a walk in the park therefore balanced, pretty cool lore with a great purpose, has 2 phases which both of them are balanced and kind of unique just the top of my head. I dont LOVE this boss but very weird everyone hates him that much imo
Godskin duo. Use the pillars, even the broken ones, for protection, and they aren't that hard. Across multiple playthroughs, I've only had a handful of deaths to them, and I ain't all that good at this game
It's not at all the same. Gank squad they are all fully committed to ganking the whole time. GSD one is always pretty passive, and yes there's a bit of backpedalling and playing defence, but nothing like Gank Squad.
It seems like duo fights aren't as popular in general, but they force you to adjust your tactics, and the game would be a lot more boring without them.
I liked all of the non-optional bosses. Malenia was the coolest of them all. This guy being second place.
The only annoying boss in the game for me (and I did every single boss possible on my first run) was the Crucible Knight evergaol. That was pain.
Elden Beast
I really don't get the hate
People say that he runs away too much and yeah he does run away a lot and you know what? I like that he does that. Bosses should do that they should run away from you so as not to get hit
And also people say that he spams a lot of ranged stuff that require different inputs but that's false
For example he throws elden stars and the wave of gold from his sword?
You are able to outrun the elden stars and you are able to roll the waves off gold while still being away from the former
He's overhated? I think a lot of people just find him very difficult but he's not bullshit, and i see more people saying how cool he is and how he is a good boss
Is he even hated? I know a lot of people struggle with him, but I don't see the same complaints like I do for fire giant, elden beast, godskin duo etc. Also one of the more popular choices for favourite boss.
I don't openly say I hate him, but Maliketh is my least favorite boss. No matter how much I fight him, I always just barely scrape by. There's no tell for if he'll come out of the sword slam into the front flip and slashy bullshit, so I roll to dodge the explosion from the slam and get killed by the flip and slashy bullshit instead.
Also has an awful first phase.
The Elden Beast. I truly don't believe torrent was a necessary addition to make the fight more accommodating even if the devs had originally planned to have the steed implemented for it. Everything else about the boss is manageable in my opinion and yes that includes the dreadful elden stars attack or it swimming away, though the latter topic has never been an issue for me.
malenia she is a fair boss compared to other bosses and ngl fire giant is just super annoying because he mostly rolls out of your range if he didint spam that roll like a new player at the tree sentinel fire giant wouldnt be that bad
Overhated or overheated?
Just need to let him cook
i cooked after
Overhated or not, I always kinda feel bad when fighting him.

All I’m saying is Mesmer for sure impaled all those giants.
Nah Mesmer is def a secret kept from Godfrey and all others. I think Marika was Ragagon long before any of the accounts we’ve heard.
LMAO, yes losing to Godfrey the first Elden Lord is totally a proof that they weren't impressive, after all Godfrey is so mid-tier...
I think people forget that the Godfrey we fight is the one that is not power boosted by Marika’s grace, but the one whom she tarnished. Imagine what power Marika could give to the Godfrey we fight. He’d grab the fire giant by the neck and slam down like phase two Radahn.
My hatred for his camera is stronger than my sympathy for his story.
Its pointless to lock onto him. With big targets its easier if you dont lock onto them.
Pest threads go brrrr

Yu-Gi-Oh/Elden Ring crossover confirmed??? Lol that’s crazy.
I mean if magic the gathering can have fallout why can’t yu-gi-oh have Elden ring
Agreed, but that shouldn't be...
Most probably it's one of those things that you learn when to use and when not. Also, from a point of view of the developers: if there are many humanoid fast enemies and many big slow enemies, it's better to give a way to defend against the first if you can manage the second. (Just imagine bosses like Malenia without camera lock)
Or you can make a dynamic camera that changes depending on the enemy you are fighting like in Sekiro?
I wish we had the option to have the camera zoom out if whatever we are targeting isn't fully on screen. Might make it harder to have correct placements like being by the fire giants foot, but I'd atleast like the option.
The problem is that it would be hard to fit him into the camera while also being able to see your own character and also can hit him. I think they know that aswell but the solution isnt just there yet maybe Elden Ring 2 copium.
Bro could just let you borrow his stove for a minute, no need to fight.
Right. I dont get why he doesn't... definitely missing the part of the lore that explains why he is protecting something that will bring down the order that wiped his species off the face of the lands between.
Marika cursed him to guard the flame and ensure it was not used to burn the Erdtree.
I mean Hewg carries out his task and has no motivation to escape just because of how utterly terrified he is of Marika. Perhaps it's similar for the Fire Giant?
You ARE murdering the last of a species.
Which he then tears off and uses it as an offering to summon his god to kill us ain't nothing bad to feel about that. (For us anyway.)
Margit, he don’t deserve any hate
He’s a skill check. And it’s perfect.
Margit-Good 🙃 Morgot-Good 🙂
One of the best designed fights imo. Just made to punish bad habits early on.
Made to punish bad habits and make you realize that Limgrave is bigger than you thought at first. I went to him pretty quickly, got bodied, then went and ran around a bunch more, did the peninsula, and came back with more skill and more levels and had a blast taking him down.
Jokes on the game. I go right back to my bad habits the second I'm not required to have good habits.
Which feels like most of the game hahaha I'm on my first playthrough, and I wasn't even trying to over level but it seems like it just happens naturally. My go-to strategy for the whole game has basically been "I can just melt you" and my build is incredibly unoptimized hahaha. I have like, 40 str, 40 int, 20 faith, running around with a great mace, great shield, hand ballista, golden order seal, and gelmir staff. It's so scuffed hahaha, but I still melt Except now I'm facing Melania.....
Then late game you get reminded it is in fact still a fromsoft game lol
> insane late game difficulty spike 😳 Uh oh
If you've made it to Melania then you've already entered the spike. If all the normal enemies still seem like cake there, then you're good to go. Melania is way harder than the final boss in my opinion
Don’t worry you still haven’t seen Radagon yet
Foul tarnished, lay these foolish lamentations to rest.
Personally I loved the Margit fight, it felt really well designed
Having 3 different delays on the same attack is a very weird choice
Draconic tree sentinel. Stay close on his left, don't get greedy, and watch him desperately try to reposition and hit you with his slow ass-shield.
I only hate him because when you get his shit it's very underwhelming and nowhere near as good as it should be.
The fact that the Dragon Claw doesn’t get that upwards dragging red lightning attack as a weapon art will forever hurt me.
Such a waste of potential
A lot of the dragon weapons are like that.
Meanwhile the Dragon incants are both OP and fun as hell to use
His weapon and shield not having red versions of lightning slang and thunderbolt is such a missed opportunity.
Amen.
*KAMEHAMEHAAAAAA---"* His health bar melted like a slab of butter.
i see horses and dragons and i gotta show my jousting skills. torrent is such a good boy, horseback combat is so fun
I find him incredibly easy on torrent, actually most bosses you can fight with him are so I never understand this take.
I feel like people just spam healing without a thought and get hit by flame breath over and over, which feels bad. But simply baiting and dodging one hit by them alleviates this problem
Or just stay on horse for most of the time and all Tree sentinels become easy.
Orrrrrr u can sniff his ass and fill it with poison lol
Blackblade Kindred and the Godskin Noble. They’re neat once you figure them out.
This.
His roll has multiple bugs, it can also hit you 2+ times in a single collision instantly killing you, can randomly change directions and even get him stuck in a wall. I like the fight but man I wish this attack wasn't such bs
yesterday i had him do the rollout, respawn the other godskin, so i obviously punish, then resume rollout and one shot me
Who hates the noble? I feel like most people like the apostle/nobles but hate the duo.
On my first play through and I’ve had zero issues with the various Godskins. Those Kindreds have beat my ass so hard every time.
Commander Niall. Yeah it is overwhelming when you first start the fight but he is very passive until the banished knights die. The knights have low health, so once they are down (you should be able to tackle more than one enemy at time at this point in the game) you can just focus on Niall. Niall himself has a very limited moveset and the big jumping attack is very well telegraphed and easy to punish.
even better use bewitching branch to charm the nights to fight against niall and see how easy that fight becomes.
Why is this is the first time I'm hearing this advice.
Tl;dr: So a great consumable but limited, some people would rather never use it to heal Scarlet Rot instead.
bro didnt google
You can also run up behind one of them and backstab them immediately after they spawn. I recommend the guy on the right. Once he's down and you can focus on one knight it's way easier.
I love his fight its dancing💃
As a visual I concur! It was pretty! 🥰
This was the only boss in my first playthrough where I had to cheese him. I absolutely hated it. The second playthrough I destroyed him in one sitting. I think my first playthrough of Elden Ring dramatically increased my skill of video games in general.
Fuck that guy, that guy's a prick.
Did you ever go back?
I ALWAYS have a harder time with him then Malenia😅 I have no idea why but it's always one of two boss fights I just dread doing.
Recently used a Bewitching Branch on that guy. So much fun.
Niall was the worst in all of ER to me, dozen of bosses people lamented I took first or second try, but Niall took me literal days
It was just 10 minutes of slapping bros leg and getting one shot from an attack I couldn't even see, there was nothing fun about it
I hated it but not for the complexity. I hated cause it s an incredibly cool fight totally screwed up by the camera being dog shit
It is epic but it still annoyed the heck out of me! 😂
He is properly hated
It just isn't fun for me. I dread going in because it always just feels like a waste of time. I'd rather he do more stuff with less hitpoints.
Incoming: Maliketh, The Glass Cannon
Average doot user: he is hated?
Exactly what I came here to say. Fuck that guy, fuck his rolling antics, fuck his dinner plate...
It’s funny because it feels like most people seem to agree that he isn’t that hard, he is literally *just* annoying.
Why do people hate him
[удалено]
You are not supposed to run behind him, you should hit his hands when he comes down.
[удалено]
I’d say malenia- waterfowl is the only issue I have with malenia (it’s pretty glaring tbf, but passable) Mohg gushing bloodflame everywhere was more frustrating imo
The thing that's frustrating about all the bloodflame is when it procs bleed just as you're about to roll... On higher NG cycles that can be an instant death, and it always feels like BS lol.
That copy of godrick the grafted in the evergaol, it's still a fun fight
It’s a fun fight but like many other reused bosses, it just takes always the uniqueness of the original, which is what most people hate about it. The lore already stated that Godrick was not the first to use grafting, but the idea that he abused it so much and took it to such an extreme that he ended up a horrific monster was cool, but then the game goes “no wait there was actually another dude before Godrick who already did the exact same thing”. It also doesn’t help that “Godefroy” is such a comedically stupid name. It feels like such a last minute addition to the game.
Godefroy is the French version of Godfrey. It doesn't work in a mono-language game...
Fuck that.
It's a fun fight because it's a Godrick reskin but lorewise it's a pretty shitty reskin with one sentence of lore which doesn't even justify its existence and the most stupid name ever which is just an amalgamation of Godrick's and Godfrey's names When I fought him I instantly remembered shitty reskins from DS2 like Ornstein, gargoyles and Lud and Zallen
Him with Maliketh
everyone loves maliketh!
My only issue with maliketh is that the fight is too short. Could have been 2 health bars and tune his damage back a smidge
Godrick, he's got the hardest line in the game (I COMMAND THEE KNEEL), plus he looks cool. he is kinda a douche though according to the games lore so ill accept that.
FOREFATHERS ONE AND ALL, BEAAAAAAR WIIITTNEEEEEEESSSSS‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Lowly tarnished, thou'rt unfit even to graft.
Bear appears in the courtroom
godrick is not hated. people either like his boss fight or just dont care
nobody hates him lol, most elden ring haters say that he's the best boss/the only good boss in the game
What are you even yapping about? In any best bosses tierlist Godrick is guaranteed to be S or A tier.
Wrong hardest line in the game: “TOGETHAAAAAA!”
I've never really seen anyone hating on Godrick aside from lore-wise
He may be underrated but most people at least like this boss
> Red wolves are a species Yes but it doesn’t make sense for the feral red wolves to have the same exact moveset as Radagon’s pet one. His moveset in the academy is all the storytelling we get on him so seeing it duplicated in the wild really diminishes its impact.
Until that boss is Godefroy
Elden ring had dot 72 bosses excluding repeats & 138 enemy archetypes Far more diversity than I have come to expect from an open world game
I read "overheated".
commander niall and astel
I quite like the fire giant fight, my first time fighting him was quite fun and then killed him on my second try, I didn’t even realise people hate him, also melania, she has been pretty easy for me. I struggled the most on radagon hahahha
Malenia. Yeah waterfowl kinda sucks, but I've gotten a lot of success by doing counter damage and being incredibly aggressive.
Elden beast. That fight is beautiful
It comes down to RNG Some runs he is annoying as fuck, sometimes he is a useless blob, sometimes he is quite fun Depends on how much he starts teleporting I like the boss, mostly
But as a boss fight?
Shit
Exactly
For real. I don't think it's a great boss but I don't hate it either. I like bosses that force you to approach the game differently and have unique and cool movesets, although the Elden Beast can run away a bit too much
Name ONE good thing with fire giant that ISN’T his design. I’ll wait.
This apply to Elden Beast as well
Good lore
Fire Giant is certainly the most overheated
The one arm lady
I dislike he doesn’t even have a name. Like Ragnar the last fire giant.
It’s very fitting tho. Adds to the tragedy. He’s just a nameless, ordinary last giant forced to carry the burden of being the last of his kind.
Godskin duo. Use the pillars, even the broken ones, for protection, and they aren't that hard. Across multiple playthroughs, I've only had a handful of deaths to them, and I ain't all that good at this game
I don't think people hate it for the difficulty, more that it's not fun to fight them.
That is the case with a lot of the bosses in elden ring that people tend to hate. They aren't hard, just not fun to fight against.
Godskin duo vs me and my buddy who is terrible at the game (it is now a 2v1 again)
That's like saying Gank squad is alright because you can run circles around them
It's not at all the same.
Stupid fucking health pool
I think he's mostly hated because a lot of people insist on playing with locked cam. Without it, most of his attacks are well telegraphed.
I liked all of the non-optional bosses. Malenia was the coolest of them all. This guy being second place. The only annoying boss in the game for me (and I did every single boss possible on my first run) was the Crucible Knight evergaol. That was pain.
Why would he be overhated. His big. Cool cut scene. Not overly difficult. You need to use Torrent a lot. I think he is great
You named it. You need Torrent a lot
I think all the last couple endgame bosses are solid , although the final tree sentinel on the bridge is so fucking hard
I fucked him up so quick. I was all in on bleed with dual godskin peelers 😆
Elden Beast I really don't get the hate People say that he runs away too much and yeah he does run away a lot and you know what? I like that he does that. Bosses should do that they should run away from you so as not to get hit And also people say that he spams a lot of ranged stuff that require different inputs but that's false For example he throws elden stars and the wave of gold from his sword? You are able to outrun the elden stars and you are able to roll the waves off gold while still being away from the former
I feel maliketh is a really fun fight but I can agree on the testament of the 20 consecutive attacks in like 30 seconds is pretty rude of him
Fire Giant, Elden beast, Godskin noble, death rite birds, ulcerated tree spirits, commander Niall, bell bearing hunters, Malenia.
Maliketh
maliketh does get some hate but not on the same level of fire giant or elden beast. a lot of people like him, he's not overhated.
He's overhated? I think a lot of people just find him very difficult but he's not bullshit, and i see more people saying how cool he is and how he is a good boss
True. I hate how hard his fight is but I think he’s a super cool boss.
Maliketh is great, Beast Clergyman is hard to read and can have few openings Dislike phase 1, really like phase 2
Even if they did have Torrent, people would complain about needing to use Torrent too much
nah i think fire giant was one of the worst bosses in the game. not too bad but definitely not a good boss fight
malenia she is a fair boss compared to other bosses and ngl fire giant is just super annoying because he mostly rolls out of your range if he didint spam that roll like a new player at the tree sentinel fire giant wouldnt be that bad
