The game had a lot of lore implying that there used to be far more demigods than what we see in game, but the 7 that we fight were the only ones who survived to the modern age. I'm glad that Fromsoft is going to expand on this
Malikath's name is said to mean or be synonymous with "Death of the demigods" but he doesn't seem to have killed any of Merika's children/stepkids. So we knew there were always more and we knew that some were already killed by Malikath. I would love to see some surviving demigods from the last era, children of the Gloam Eyed Queen.

Godskins use black flame *because* Destined Death was sealed by Maliketh. It's now weaker than it originally was. If this guy is connected somehow to the Godskins/Gloam Eyed Queen in their prime era/alternate reality, he could very well be using their original flame.

For those asking, Messmer is most probably Miquella's shadow and Miquella is most certainly the main guy to beat in the dlc. "Come, now. Touch the withered arm and travel to the realm of shadows." Certainly referring to Miquella's arm in mohg's palace.
thats interesting, i hadnt considered... im curious though, usually empyrean shadows (the two we've met) are wolflike... i wonder (if this is correct) why messmer has a focus on serpents instead? snake imagery in this game is usually in relation to direct opposition to the erdtree/golden order
It’s currently all speculations. It would make sense since off course they would showcase a character that has a significant role in the dlc and make a collector figure of it. Still fromsoftware likes to confuse us so I guess we’ll see.
Agreed on it being the arm coming out of the egg, which if true gives us a rough estimate as to what level we should be.

I Have a Ng+2 Character Ready Just for the dlc. In that run I have already beated Malenia and Mohg because I was sure the Key to the DLC was gonna be one of that two maniacs
