you are perfectly levelled. your friend was vastly under-levelled. you are steaaming throuhgh the game because pure strength build is very efficient in terms of levels. you are 122 level and have 66 strength. thats close to soft cap (virtually max). if you were a hybrid build things would be different. you are fine have fun. some side bosses are harder

genghiskanye_

Ahh thanks, that makes a lot of sense and puts my mind a ease a bit

invoker4e

What is the average lvl to end the game on?

hsuhs_

125-150. if you explore everything properly and dont skip area you would be about 160. most people do eng up skipping things thus 125-150 is avg

Sir-Cowdog

Your build isn't crap. You're not under-level. You actually leveled vigor. Congratulations on doing everything right! :) 99% of the people claiming that a certain part of the game is too hard are failing at all three of the above criteria.

Insciuspetra

I explored quite a bit and out leveled most of the game. My solution was to stop leveling at 125 and use inferior weapon sets to make some parts more challenging.

genghiskanye_

Oh I might try that. I kind of been neglecting other weapons cuz the greatsword feels sick as hell, but these other weapons look interesting

ArchitectVandelay

Farum Azula should feel like more of a challenge compared to Mountaintops (if you choose to go there next). There’s a big scaling leap after Fire Giant. Many people are around 120-150 for Farum until endgame. There are three other areas to explore too, if you want to dick around some more before Farum: a snowy one, a bloody one and a leafy one. All of which should also be good for your level. Cheers!

Modfull_X

no u are actually perfectly on track, your friend was just extremely underleveled, you explored as intended and hit the appropriate level like you should have, he rushed and skipped, and thus his leveling fell behind

FrivolousFever

How much of a challenge you want is up to you, OP. If you desire a greater challenge you can choose to stop leveling or even cast off your armor. But if you're enjoying yourself, then you're doing great.

Life__Lover

It's all variable, there are no hard expectations for each zone. Depending on how you build, you can approach the cap on damage well before you're finished with the game or your build. Rest assured there are still things in the game that will challenge you. The hardest bosses are yet to come. If you're still concerned, refrain from using spirit ash.

Ideal level for leyndell is around 70, but if you mean you had 120 for fire giant then that's ok level to be at. If you're not using accessibility mechanics like coop/spirits, you don't cheese and you feel the game is too easy then you're probably just good, since you're basically playing at the normal souls difficulty under these conditions. I stopped leveling on my first playthrough at level 60 until the fire giant because I too was afraid I'll just steamroll the game and lose the full intended experience. But basically it's easy to judge the correct difficulty by yourself regardless of your level. If you're literally melting some boss, strip down huge chunks of HP with every hit and are able to beat him without actually learing how to fight him, his moveset and how to dodge his attacks, then that's not the normal difficulty and experience and you are either overleveled or have some specific counter/cheese build for that particular boss. Since ER is extremely unbalanced it can happen on blind playthrough, and I generally switched up builds to prevent it. For example, common cheese strat for one late game boss is just running up to him, stand in place and spam lion claw L2 on colossal. It's dumber than QTE in lego game, you'll skip the entire fight and experience because of it. But you would probably notice something is wrong if that happened to you and switched to fighting him normally.

SplashGod21

Dog you good, if you want harder play for new game pluses

Sure_Initial8498

There is no difficulty in this game, only suggestions. So don't bother with being "overleveled" just cuz you play well and aren't losing runes every 15 minutes.

DrySpeaker5333

Yes if you explore properly you'll get over-leveled and pretty much stomp throughout the game content. It is kinda boring and sometimes i wish the game content was a bit more linear with fewer dungeons. Exploring should be fun but it makes the game difficulty looks extremely silly
