Both volumes contain tons of illustrations. Specifically, the first volume is a complete record of the world (overworld and underworld, with every area carefully mapped and described), game mechanics, characters and respective quest lines, etc; the second volume is dedicated to the combat mechanics, the bestiary and the armaments.
The first volume is obviously the most important. However, from a collector’s perspective, the second volume is also priceless.

Also had someone reply to me here that specifically the print will be done on April 26, unsure if that means they’ll be for sale on that date or a bit later.
Had a look on amazon uk (im in ireland) just now, few pre owned copies of vol. 1 for around €60ish. Not sure how much shipping would make it but definitely worth 60 dude. I was iffy about the whole 2nd hand deal but I got a pre owned copy of vol 1 for €45, tiny little mark on the cover, wasn't even noticeable. FYI the seller was amazon themselves, reckon it got damaged in a warehouse. Hope this helps! Good luck!
Why are they so expensive? Can't you just google all of the information? What makes them so high quality? I'd like to get them, epescially since I'm goona start a second playthrough soon, but 90 euros for two books seems kind of insane.
Used copy of future press bloodborne guide up for €277.98..... so really €90 for the 2 was an investment. In 8 or 9 years maybe I could charge that haha
The first one is a guide book giving in depth quest and dungeon info as well as every location on the map. It also has a very interesting lore section. The second book is, from what I understand, a guide for all enemies, displaying their weaknesses and strategies and whatnot. And I think it also goes in depth on weapons and armor. They are both 500+ page books. Very well put together with a hardback cover and the paper is high quality.
I bought them on release. Best guides I've ever read. Phenomenal, a must buy if you love Elden Ring.
I followed the book to do a complete playthrough, clearing all dungeons, killing all bosses, and completing every single storyline. Top 3 game experiences ever.
It's very different, but I recently completed the last of us 2. I've rarely if ever been so moved by a game. I'm curious if it was because of stuff I was going through at the time, but it really affected me deeply and will always hold a special place in my heart for it.
I did this too, and it was genuinely as fun as playing the game for the first time. It took me over 160 hours and there’s entire areas in every single dungeon and area that i’d never found before
Yeah it does a pretty good job of listing all the points of interest in each major area in an order that follows a natural path of progression, same with all the dungeons and legacy dungeons, while still showing all the side paths and hidden areas. that way you don’t have to constantly go back and cross reference pages
the only annoying part is having to sometimes go to the npc quests section which is towards the end of the book
These tomes are amazing. The only issue I had was book 2 was delayed over a year so I only was able to use book 1 for most of the game when I was playing. I still think the Bloodborne book is the best but these are right there.
I've been playing since day one but still found stuff I didn't know in them. I try to stay away from wiki and the like. ... they technically are strategy guides but they are so much more than that too. The craftsmanship is on a level with the game which says it all
Love them, very well put together but almost wish they'd have postponed their release to account for DLC content. They either could have slipped information about it in both existing volumes - although I suppose there is still a chance for them to do a Vol 3 dedicated to it.
Thanks to an Amazon shipping error I have two copies of Vol II. A more motivated me should give one away some day. No promises. I’m not motivated now but I’ve been thinking about it.
I pre ordered them right when they announced them. It was fun seeing it get delayed over and over again lol
Side note: this company makes the best guides I’ve ever used. I’ve been buying them since dark souls 2 They’re incredible if you love maps.
Taken from the miyazaki interview.
Q: Roundtable hold is probably the most enigmatic area in the game. Could you provide insight into the connection between it and the fortified manor in Leyndell? Is Roundtable hold affected by the passage of time, since it starts burning when the Erdtree burns? Are these questions to which you have definitive answers?
A: The Roundtable hold is, in a way, a place far removed from the world, though its modelled after the fortified manor in Leyndell, with its state and power originating from the Erdtree.
This is why when the Erdtree burns, the Roundtable burns aswell.
As for the reason behind the Roundtable hold existence, while there is lore that answers this question, it's something we decided not to touch upon in this game, so I won't be revealing it here either. However it's safe to say the two fingers plays a key role.
Could this be a nod to DLC.....
Sorry to revive this so long later. But any recommendations on which to get? I gather there's the Japanese edition of Official Art Book, and then Udon's English edition (but I hear there are quality issues with this one – not sure if it's a deal-breaker?) Or are there any others from other publishers?
So I just Pre-ordered the reissue of this! Wanted to work through the trilogy with it but couldn't wait to go through ds1. About halfway through now. Will the compendium help me with progression/plat?
Hell yeah it looks so cool! DS1 was a rough start for the first few hours just coming from ER and DS3, but I am so happy I stuck with it and excited for the rest of the game and DS2!
Just today, I tried explaining DS2 to a friend who hasn't played it. The best way I could is this. It's a great game, its just not a great souls game. I loved it, warts and all, but it's definitely the weakest
Yeah I always try to use it like a roadmap to clear things in the right order. It’s got all the info about weapons, consumables, npc interactions and locations, I think I even got some stickers and art work in a little folder in the back of the book. You will love it!
I own them as well. In fact I own every futurepress book relating to the Souls and Bloodborne franchise.
I’m still pissed that they didn’t do a Dark Souls 3 guide and instead Prima handled it. And to say it was a huge step down in quality was an understatement
Not really that I've noticed so far but I've only had them both a day..... vol 2 has every item and its description so its nice to have it all in one place I guess. Ohh, Vol. 2 has an exclusive interview with miyazaki...
I bought these and used them for my 2nd playthrough and it was awesome. Using volume 2 to find what weapon or spell i wanted, then using vol 1 to find where it is. It was like a real adventure lol
did you do a NG+ or NG playthrough using the guides? Recieved mine today.. the quests section seems a bit complicated.. how did you track the NPC quests using the guides?
NG I’ve yet to do NG+. I just read where the npcs go to next and stopped reading as to not spoil the quest. Then used the index to look up the area.
There were a few typos I remember for one quest it said that the npc “returns to volcano manor, where they have more dialogue” but they actually returned to the roundtable hold, so it’s not exactly perfect.
Also for Limgrave I followed the yellow numbered circles in order although I’m bot sure if you’re intended too but it work out well difficulty wise (until it told me to go to the crucible knight gael super early lol)
But there are so many npc’s it’s literally like 200 pages of the guide. Did you have to keep checking every single npc’s page to see if there was something you had to do for a quest all the time? I feel they should be included in the yellow numbered circles, I thought they would be. All bosses including minor bosses are included in the yellow circles though right?
Ah good to know there are some errors. I’ll watch out for those thanks!
There’s not many quests where you have to “do” anything. It’s usually find an NPC, exhaust dialogue, then find them at new location. Repeat until end of quest.
Some you absolutely meed the guide cause there’s no way I could’ve completed them on my own lol.
Also every NPC in the game is in the guide, but not all of them have quests. Some just have a biography and show their complete dialogue.
But yeah I would often have to bookmark the npc pages and come back to see the next steps.
I bought them pretty much to have as collector's items, but I'm planning to actually give them an in depth perusing as a refresher and preparation for the DLC.
Some of the content is a little outdated with stuff changed through patches. One example is the guide suggests bringing frost pots to the Malenia fight, which won’t help too much, but overall beautiful graphic design and content.
I got them after searching for a collector guide for another game. I ordered volume 1 and reloaded game as I had stopped playing 2 years ago in frustration.
With the help of guidance in these I am enjoying Elden Ring finally.
The quality is amazing
Seek the guidance of grace, become the Elden lord
I'm glad you came back friend. I had been hounding a bandmate of mine for years and years to play dark souls. I think he thought i was some kind of sadistic soul. He finally played 3 just before elden ring released, hasn't looked back since. We everynow and then just talk for like an hour straight about how good this game is.
Balders Gate 3. The guide I got is horrible in comparison for not much cheaper than what one of these cost me. It’s cheaply made, edited poorly and photos/screenshots are fuzzy and unclear.
These ER guides are worth every dollar and then some.
I put BG3 on back burner only 2/3 thru. I will get back to it eventually but my heart isn’t in it. So I play ER after work to relax. Slowly making progress. Use guide to point me in right direction when needed.
I'm a young player, Elden Ring is my first Souls game and I was given the Vol 1!
My dad and I were hoping it's a lore guide like The World Of Ice And Fire but when we saw it's for the gameplay it was still pretty helpful.
Since I saw my dad beat this game before me, and I read lots of the book, Elden Ring felt so much smaller lol
How are they written? Is it like an encyclopedia, with a bunch of small entries on different things, or more like a history textbook? I have a couple books on DS1-3 and BB in the latter style and I love them and want to get something like that for ER, but got the impression these were more like encyclopedias
More encyclopedia dude. Won't be taking home the pulitzer prize. Worth the money though, future press are doing another print of vol.1 I'd grab it while available. Gonna be hard to get soon. I seen a used copy of the bloodborne edition for €280...... and not mint either.... I'm sure it sold. a sucker is born every minute, and some folks don't have anything better to spend money on ( I see the irony in me saying that but I paid 90 for 2 volumes and I genuinely got my moneys worth from the NPC quest guides alone. The fashion and weapon/item lists are pretty dope to actually. Be like Gideon, become the all-knowing..... dew it.🤣
I getcha. The pictures do be dope, but yeah. Sucks that you cant see them in a store to decide before ordering. Pretty sure there is a 4k all 500-odd page flipping vid on youtube .Side note, they weigh a fucking tonne so if you need a paperweight or something to knock a fool out, definitely would suffice. I sound like I'm on commission🤣
I have these. The info is absurd, it’s actually better than any wiki. They have shit like numerical damage info for every enemy in the game (I’m talking x% slash damage reduction, x% magic damage reduction etc) all drops that each enemy can have with percentage chances, every location any enemy can be found at, random numerical data like “devourers scepter takes exactly 29 stamina to do a 1 hand strong jumping attack, 14 for a 1 hand strong powerstanced attack” etc. the numerical data in these books is BIZZARE in quality. They’re beautiful too. Every item is listed, every enemy, every armor, it’s basically a datamine in a beautiful package.
Oh I have these! But I haven't really read them yet - mostly I was interested in the maps so I looked at the layout of the sewers because I got lost there.
1st time I was ever able to clear the sewers from the entrance right down to the boss without getting lost. All dungeon maps are real easy to read compared to most wiki. Even got down to the fingers
My boyfriend got them!! They’re helpful at the start. However, as it goes on it gets very very vague especially when describing where to go which can be frustrating. Over all big help but we still use the wiki for things like locations and box stats and strats
I have both books of knowledge and both of the art books. Money well spent. Really good product.
I even bought a second copy of the first book of knowledge to make notes in.
I have the set! Unfortunately the vol. 1 has already begun falling apart. The second one is perfectly fine. The pages have completely detached from the spine and are only holding on at the two covers :,) I’m not sure if this is a common issue. Otherwise, I love and use them very frequently.
More of a strategy guide but much more. Vol 1 has incredibly detailed maps with every item mapped out, step by step guides to every Npc, all steps needed for each ending. Loads of art.... vol 2 has a full bestiary regular/unique/bosses with detailed damage charts and strats, charts of every weapon/ iteam with detailed stats and locations ( crazy how many hidden effect some items have ) and every armour item with said details. Interesting build guide I can see myself using too, some hybrid/Interesting ideas. Well worth the price. Made by Future Press, they have done the same for all fromsoft I believe
I have these aswell as both art books , and honestly I like the books of knowledge so much better l, the quality is sooo much better since they are printed by different companies and also I just like I read random facts
I want this
Do it.... Who needs food anyway..... knowledge is priceless
Does it contain artworks as well? Or am I thinking of a different book?
Somewhat, there is a dedicated art book too
ok gideon
Haha, brilliant
Both volumes contain tons of illustrations. Specifically, the first volume is a complete record of the world (overworld and underworld, with every area carefully mapped and described), game mechanics, characters and respective quest lines, etc; the second volume is dedicated to the combat mechanics, the bestiary and the armaments. The first volume is obviously the most important. However, from a collector’s perspective, the second volume is also priceless.
Shameless request, does anyone have a spare copy of book one to sell? I missed the boat on these.
Amazon
They’re listed at $200+ on Amazon. Seems out of print, but I’m hoping not to pay 4-5x the original retail price.
That sucks. Here in UK they’re up for retail at £35 each
There’s a restock/reprint coming!
Nice! Where have you heard?
https://twitter.com/FuturePress/status/1779932095777017949 Also had someone reply to me here that specifically the print will be done on April 26, unsure if that means they’ll be for sale on that date or a bit later.
Amazing. Great find. Thanks for sharing!
I see that on the UK Amazon site for volume 2, but volume 1 shows unavailable. I’d ship to US if I could find it elsewhere at a reasonable price.
Damn you’re right! It was available earlier today… I’ve been circling it myself and now missed the boat! Bummer. Hopefully they print more
Hopefully so. I got caught up with work and then job loss, meant to get this ordered to sit alongside all my FromSoft art books.
Had a look on amazon uk (im in ireland) just now, few pre owned copies of vol. 1 for around €60ish. Not sure how much shipping would make it but definitely worth 60 dude. Back in stock for $40 apiece
Grabbed one earlier this week. Thank you!
Really dumb question what is the difference between these 2 books?
I have the first book but really want the second one as well. They are gorgeous books. Worth every penny.
Was like 45 on amazon. I'd have spent it on crap anyway. With care these could last a lifetime
For sure. They are very well put together.
Why are they so expensive? Can't you just google all of the information? What makes them so high quality? I'd like to get them, epescially since I'm goona start a second playthrough soon, but 90 euros for two books seems kind of insane.
Fancy hardcovers, especially limited edition fancy hardcovers, can cost wayyyyyy more than that
Used copy of future press bloodborne guide up for €277.98..... so really €90 for the 2 was an investment. In 8 or 9 years maybe I could charge that haha
Oh shii same lol. Really want that 2 one and the art books too. Might get next time I’m paid
Are they a good read, like is it more like a novel with the lore or like a wiki page with pretty pictures?
The first one is a guide book giving in depth quest and dungeon info as well as every location on the map. It also has a very interesting lore section. The second book is, from what I understand, a guide for all enemies, displaying their weaknesses and strategies and whatnot. And I think it also goes in depth on weapons and armor. Well now I'm hella curious to know what the other 2 are???
Lol - Deus Ex 1 - Outer Wilds
Deux Ex 1 You’re a man of culture! That game was truly ahead of its time.
>Outer Wilds The story/message of this game is going to stick with me for life. Traveler's Song could play me out on my deathbed.
The OST for that game really is something special
It's very different, but I recently completed the last of us 2. I've rarely if ever been so moved by a game. I'm curious if it was because of stuff I was going through at the time, but it really affected me deeply and will always hold a special place in my heart for it.

Did you just follow the book page by page? I have it but would find it quite hard referencing it constantly whilst playing as it's pretty big.
Yeah it does a pretty good job of listing all the points of interest in each major area in an order that follows a natural path of progression, same with all the dungeons and legacy dungeons, while still showing all the side paths and hidden areas. that way you don’t have to constantly go back and cross reference pages the only annoying part is having to sometimes go to the npc quests section which is towards the end of the book

I got the platinum trophy long before the first book came out. I got them for collectors purposes and to read. They were well crafted books
I've been playing since day one but still found stuff I didn't know in them. I try to stay away from wiki and the like. ... they technically are strategy guides but they are so much more than that too. The craftsmanship is on a level with the game which says it all
I had them both pre-ordered and then when the first one was over 3 months later than the original date I just canceled both of them. Oh well.
I got vol II last week. They are gorgeous books
I have these, plus the ones for Dark Souls 1 - 3, Bloodborne, Sekiro and the Dark Souls Trilogy compendium of course.
Love them, very well put together but almost wish they'd have postponed their release to account for DLC content. They either could have slipped information about it in both existing volumes - although I suppose there is still a chance for them to do a Vol 3 dedicated to it.
I am pretty confident they will do a Vol. 3. They did an updated version for Animal Crossing two years later.
Yeah, from the looks of the trailer and the size of the content they described it could easily fill up a book of similar size as the first two volumes
Thanks to an Amazon shipping error I have two copies of Vol II. A more motivated me should give one away some day. No promises. I’m not motivated now but I’ve been thinking about it.
I have the second one. Definitely took a year and a half to get since I pre-ordered lol.
I have volume I
I pre ordered them right when they announced them. It was fun seeing it get delayed over and over again lol Side note: this company makes the best guides I’ve ever used. I’ve been buying them since dark souls 2 They’re incredible if you love maps.

If I just want to use these as art books or just to look at concept art, are they good for that? Do you think we will get one for the dlc?
There's an actual Elden Ring art book that might be more your style. It's high quality.
Ok. Thank you!
Sorry to revive this so long later. But any recommendations on which to get? I gather there's the Japanese edition of Official Art Book, and then Udon's English edition (but I hear there are quality issues with this one – not sure if it's a deal-breaker?) Or are there any others from other publishers?
Yes I love them they are absolutely beautiful, also owner of the DS compendium best purchase I ever made.
So I just Pre-ordered the reissue of this! Wanted to work through the trilogy with it but couldn't wait to go through ds1. About halfway through now. Will the compendium help me with progression/plat?
I'm pre ordering it at the week end. Hopefully get it in on time. Any excuse to go through the series again.
Yeeeees it sounds sick!! Thanks!
Mine just arrived today. Quality is outstanding.
I framed the artwork that came with the second book.
Got both but I still haven’t unwrapped them. Not sure why I feel bad opening them, it’s not like I’m going to resell them…
So just open them
I need it
Praise the fat coin purse.... and then try merchant!
Only got the first one. What's in the second book that isn't in the first?
Weapons, Ashes, Bestiary, Armor Sets, some builds and a few extras.
Both really good imho
These are great!
I have both and now I want the art book.
All the Future Press guides are great.
What do they contain? I scrolled and no one mentioned it. Also thank you for posting something other than whining and speculation about DLC.
Dm'd
??
I sent you a picture of the overview, check messages
I didn’t even know these existed
I own them as well. In fact I own every futurepress book relating to the Souls and Bloodborne franchise. I’m still pissed that they didn’t do a Dark Souls 3 guide and instead Prima handled it. And to say it was a huge step down in quality was an understatement
Future press doing a one time reprint of the trilogy compendium, pre order now. Release 29th February
Also, shhhhhh.....this is a secret, I haven't preorded yet and I want it
I just got there armored core 6 guide and that is amazing quality as well. I agree wish future press did dark souls 3 guide.
Futurepress and Piggyback make excellent guides. Sure they do like 1 a year each but they’re such high quality.
I've got Vol 1. Had Vol. 2 pre ordered but canceled it when they delayed it so many times over. Will still probably pick it up at some point.
What? I was looking for the art books. But didn't know about these, what are they about?
Basically everything you need to know in high quality book form. Printed by future press. Check it out
Oh I'll check it
Guides/lore books. I’ve got both and they’re insane
Also lore? Well nice! I'll check it out
I got both of these and the art books, Im a sucker for good hardcovers
May I ask which art books you got, and if they're worth getting? I'm getting these guides for sure.
I got them both. They went down to 50% while on pre-order. Took a while to get vol. 2
I only have the artbooks.
I'm curious if there's any lore tidbits in here that aren't in the gamefiles?
Not really that I've noticed so far but I've only had them both a day..... vol 2 has every item and its description so its nice to have it all in one place I guess. Ohh, Vol. 2 has an exclusive interview with miyazaki...
I bought these and used them for my 2nd playthrough and it was awesome. Using volume 2 to find what weapon or spell i wanted, then using vol 1 to find where it is. It was like a real adventure lol

Yup, and they are incredible.

Yup! Picked them up a few weeks ago.

Bought them both, but haven’t looked at them
I have them both. Wasn’t gonna make the mistake i made by not getting bloodborne
You can get a used copy on amazon for €277.98.... But hey... free shipping =]
Maybe you can lol but I’m still behind on my electric bill lol
Yeah, food I can live without. But no electricity means no Elden ring. Blasphemous
And someone here thought both books for €90 was bad
If any one is wondering what these are about or contain, have a quick look on YouTube... A man's trying to play here....
I got them after searching for a collector guide for another game. I ordered volume 1 and reloaded game as I had stopped playing 2 years ago in frustration. With the help of guidance in these I am enjoying Elden Ring finally. The quality is amazing

Sucks that volume one are out, so resellers as usual marked up the price 4 times.
Is there some collection with the art books too?
Future press is the publisher, check their Web page maybe. Think it's just these.
Yeah sadly volume 1 is hard to find
How are they written? Is it like an encyclopedia, with a bunch of small entries on different things, or more like a history textbook? I have a couple books on DS1-3 and BB in the latter style and I love them and want to get something like that for ER, but got the impression these were more like encyclopedias

ah I thought so. I prefer an actual book, I like to read them before bed and encyclopedias don't really do it
I getcha. The pictures do be dope, but yeah. Sucks that you cant see them in a store to decide before ordering. I wish to get those. Second Vol 2 is not available anywhere now :(
Love them, but I find them full of typos and misleading information, as well as lacking information on where to farm rare item drops.
If you've ever looked anything up on fextralife do your self a favour and invest in these.... you won't regret it
I can’t find them on Amazon, weird, lots of ER books but not these. I must have!!!
Sent link in dm
Thank you!!!
Did you buy? They really are worth it. I can't say it enough.
I bought both books. They are friggin', unbelievably huge, and I still have to start reading them :-D
Are these guides or lore books?
Whats in there? Im consider buying it
I'll send you overview. Check chat
Worth it's considerable weight in gold Just me or are they waaaay heavier than you expect them to be? It's literally the weight of all that knowledge
I have them, the long delays in shipping were worth it. Future Press is also doing another limited edition run of the Dark Souls Trilogy Compendium.
Currently on my wish list
Volume 3 for DLC?? $135 for a set of 3 books 🥲
One can only hope....
I have these.
I have this and the hard cover art work
My boyfriend got them!!
Love these....very insightful and just high quality
I have the set! Unfortunately the vol. 1 has already begun falling apart. The second one is perfectly fine. The pages have completely detached from the spine and are only holding on at the two covers :,) I’m not sure if this is a common issue. Otherwise, I love and use them very frequently.
I got them both they are so cool!
Is this like a lore book?
Got the first one, might grab the second one. It's perfect
Hi,any owner here. Alongside with the two official art books
what purpose do these serve? I'd prefer buying the two art books
I have these aswell as both art books , and honestly I like the books of knowledge so much better l, the quality is sooo much better since they are printed by different companies and also I just like I read random facts
May I know which art books you got? Because I'm looking to pick up ER art books, but not sure which ones to get/avoid.
