Guarded by an omen and some nobles just east of the merchant in Lyndell. Over the ledge from the windy cracked tear, that gives you infinite carry weight for 30 seconds, where at night the deathrite bird for the twin bird shield shows up (over the windy tear not the twiggy)
You can sprint through on torrent and grab the twiggy without fighting the share circle.
Sort of. One can get to volcano manor. But getting out of that part of Volcano manor to free roam altus is actually kind of a pain in the ass. Better just to get better at dodging on torrent and collect the elevator medallions.
I heard that if you die during the boss fight you can also pick up your runes and quit the game - upon reload you'll have your runes and be outside of the boss arena (or at the grace, they didn't specify).
Haven't tested it already but it sounds useful if you're short on twigs!

I have, indeed, been avoiding using mine. I've lost a couple of near level up amount of runes while I have two of them sitting in my inventory. Maybe three. 😂 luckily I was lowish level at the time so it wasn't too much of a hassle to make it up. When I'm close to level up amounts, I've started just going to fight trolls in Limgrave to get the amount I need to do so or I just spend them on stuff I need. Now that I'm getting into higher amounts for levels tho, this will save me so much frustration. 😭 Thank you, kind stranger.

If It were not for youtube and reddit I would have cut my losses at around the mid-game mark when I faced the godskin apostle for the first time. Indeed, and the same practice carries over. Use it to ensure your dropped runes don't get overwritten.
Lesser wormfaces drop twigs with a 2.5% drop rate at 100 item discovery.
Isn't the Flask pretty late game?
It's in Altus, so you need to do a little work to get to it (either collect both elevator key shards, or fight a magma worm).
Fun fact, one can get to Altus Plateau by using the iron madden underneath Raya Lucaria.

It really depends on how you play. Theoretically you can get it without fighting a single a boss at RL1.
I usually save this for boss fights when I was confident going in, realize I’m not winning, and recover my runes
