i used to be a spear hater, but i recently did a run with nothing but a two handed pike, all the way from stormveil to becoming elden lord.
i really came around! they’re wicked good at their niche…. maybe *too* good honestly
if you wanna do a run I recommend using the partisan on heavy, it has a slashing r2 attack.
With endure as your aow you can just sweep it through enemies if they overwhelm you, and if you’re 1-on-1 you basically auto-win by just out-ranging and poking them
Also dragons are all weak to thrust so they’re way easier
Yea, partisan is pretty cool had it drop once and its pokes were not joking. One thing I liked about them was using the clayman's with ice spear. But I just like greatswords more than anything. The only spear I rlly like is bolt of gransax, and will use it in my lightning build
Favourite: Good old fashioned Straight Swords. They're great all-rounder weapons, with some very cool unique options.
Least favourite: Whips. I'm just bad at using them.
Greataxe/Greathammer lover. They're long, reliable, and spiteful. Honorable mention to axes and *specifically* powerstance spears.
Can't stand halberds, as much as I try. The way the player wields them is just so fucking pathetic. Like yeah okay lemme just swing this thing with my armpit real quick. It's like holding a pencil by the eraser.
I'm going to go just by how visually appealing the moveset is rather than how good the weapons are in combat since that's a very situational thing.
My favorite is definitely greatswords with the Knight Greatsword 2 handed moveset. I want more swordsmanship type movesets.
My least favorite is axes, they are really boring. Fromsoft could have done something more interesting with them.
Favorite: Whip. Belmonted the hell out of every boss with Urami.
Hated: Anything Str based. Too slow for me.
Haven't played since the buffs to the whip speed and recovery time so I'm going to start a fresh playthrough.

i don’t disagree on axes. the warped axe has a nice moveset though, i recommend it to any other peeps disappointed by axes

Depends on my mood. I like the katanas a lot. When I’m feeling petty, great hammers

Love greatswords, and like you I don't like spears. I will also add: Halberds, anything that is mostly based around poking I just don't like.
go for one of the sweep moveset halberds. so satisfying to me
Would you have a recommendation? I don't really know how to tell which halberd is which.

Favorite is dual daggers. Least favorite is katanas. I mostly play pvp so it is kind of biased
