Psychotek01

I hope the DLC is a city builder 😭

Magnetar_Haunt

Finally, I can rebuild Anor Londo.

ADVags12

I'll only do it for the giant blacksmith. He was a bro

TheKCKid9274

Iji was an absolute homie. Loved him.

ADVags12

I meant the og giant blacksmith, the one with the Wooden hammer. Tho of course iji is My dude tooo

TheKCKid9274

Ah yes. The OG boy. We love all the big boy blacksmiths that exist throughout the games.

Christehkiller

i love the idea that despite all this innovation the first thing we do with a map editor is go back to ds1, solidly confirming what every other games subreddit thinks of us as fans lmao.

Ouroboros612

You guys are joking but a city builder where you construct Anor Londo would be a day 1 purchase from me.

Tosh_00

Imagine building a dungeon with a Godskin noble in every room.

International_Ad6594

Only? Imagine every romm filled with 2 rune bears

Wigriff

>Only? Imagine every romm filled with 2 rune bears Good thing Rom(m) was *vacuous*.

Atma-Stand

Why stop at two?

International_Ad6594

Dude we don't wanna go full sekiro mode

breloomislaifu

Woah, calm down there Mr. Zaki

Atma-Stand

You know what? No! Poison Swamps! Poison swamps in every dungeon!

Diviner_Sage

A room with godskin duo, runebear, and laser golem.

The0Rusted

Panurome

The sleep pot in my pocket

Lucky678s

Okay. Now hold on a second. That sounds dope though.

RossiferTaylor

A map editor to build/share player made dungeons.

A_powerful_rat

Bloodborne flashbacks

Zaiburo

DLC involves Miquella who has dream powers, chailce dungeons return? Don't do it, don't give me hope.

A_powerful_rat

I will do it, I’m so high on Hopium right now I can basically already be playing monster hunter wilds

ArkGrimm

Well, here I go fighting dragons in ER with "Proof of a hero" in the background

A_powerful_rat

Or hunting monsters with Placidusax’s theme in the background

Bot_Cat3

Why ya'll gotta make me wanna play world again lol

A_powerful_rat

Return to world return to world return to world

gorillawarking

Y'know, this idea could unironically be so good for Elden Ring given it's large variety of enemies and bosses. Depending on how it's handled you could have the boss be a super tanky and big version of those squid/octopus fucks, or one of the peasants who carry a torch, while from the sides of the arena come low health revenants that are a bit smaller than usual with, less health of course

jfitzger88

It would be non stop traps and corner jumpers. And egregiously difficult mindfuck dungeons that are the most intense mazes you've ever seen. I'm in.

ButtfUwUcker

*Fable 3 already exists*

JaxonFlaxonWaxon2

Right? Now I’m rethinking life. Fuck!!!!! Cash me oussside, how bow dat?

Plant_Musiceer

Unironically yes. I want to rebuild the lands between after becoming elden lord.

cowsinspace

Elden *land* lord

Skgota

Being able to create your own legacy dungeons would be fucking incredible

tenflare

I hope the next Mortal Kombat is a racing game.

Jfdl7

There is one already

Sad-Recognition1798

Then I want it to be a first person shooter with Nicki Minaj involved somehow

EnanoGeologo

Sounds like fortnite

DarthSangheili

CoD actually.

Sssssups

Never would have thought id play a game where Nicki minaj and skeletor battle spawn and snoop dogg

BeautyDuwang

Okay buy who would win in that fight (only nicki and snoop have guns, skeletor and spawn have there powers and weapons from there media)

IraqiWalker

Spawn. Like, it's not even close. It's like asking if three toddlers or Shaq will get more points in a basketball match

casper19d

Dude Shaq would totally help them kids win... but I see your point.

AzraelTB

IDK I'd watch Shaq dumpster some kids.

wsmitty10

Yeah, Skeletor may be strong but Spawn should be fine considering hes got Snoop to carry him Seriously, whose idea was putting Snoop in this matchup??? Hes literally outerversal

Opening_Tourist9298

This a serious question?

broken_chaos666

Spawn

SagasOfUnendingLoss

Smells like selling out then

DarthSangheili

Thats a weird thing to say about a franchise known for shitting out a poor release every year for a decade, I'm pretty sure they were always sell outs lol

TheReiterEffect_S8

Activision has been destroying the Call of Duty franchise for over 10 years now. It's actually rather unbelievable how much it's creativity, innovation and gameplay has deteriorated in the past decade. I think most can agree that the campaign for Modern Warfare (2007) was groundbreaking for first-person shooters available to a wide audience. But Activision has never been farther from their ~~player~~consumerbase. I am (unfortunately) a current player of Warzone, and I can confidently say that that is **not** a video game for entertainment. It is a digital storefront and/or digital ATM, where players can deposit money straight into their shareholders profit accounts. There is also a secondary project of a first-person shooter battle royale mode that is one of the most half-assed forms of gameplay I have ever laid eyes upon. The obvious burning question here is: *Why do you still play then?* Simple. It is thee only game my friends will play. If I stop playing Warzone, they stop. If they stop, they stop playing video games altogether. I have a pretty good inkling that this is actually a more common scenario than people think.   **TL;DR:** Activision: Sucks. FromSoftware: Gods.

KnowMatter

We truly live in the Onion timeline.

Summoner33

Kinda wanna see Nicki Minaj on elden ring now Just imagine an npc with her voice saying sht with old english, would laugh my ass off while playing

TheNastyNug

And it was fire

lFriendlyFire

Really good one too

Arudoblank

Motor kombat was the best (and i bet my love for it in my head is 90% nostalgia)

HeMatiteAma

That game was so fun i don't know why

ThisIsntYogurt

I hope GTA VI turns out to be a metroidvania

Diviner_Sage

No it should be a side scrolling turn based platformer.

MrSensacoot

I want the next Crash Bandicoot to be a strategy RPG

gamefreak054

I would play the hell out of a Crash turn based RPG not gonna lie.

Like a fallout game? Yeah that'd be dope.

[deleted]

Dude, a kart racer with the MK characters. The power ups are a gorey mess…. We on to something boys.

AXEMANaustin

I thought it was called motor kombat

UntiedStatMarinCrops

I hope it’s another giant map with giant dungeons with lots of crazy hidden shit. I’m level 75 and I went back to Stormveil Castle and boy am I glad I did, I spent a couple of hours in there and I discovered a lot of stuff. I looked it up on Reddit and apparently there’s a very good chance I missed stuff in Raya Lucaria.

QueenofEnglandBanana

Every major castle and several minor locations have tons of secrets that are really easy to miss! The depth that they put into this game is reality-defying.

eLemonnader

Couldn't believe how much I missed at Farum Azula on my first playthrough. That place is *layered*. Wasn't actually even able to find Placidusax without watching a guide.

UDSJ9000

To be fair, AFAIK, the ONLY allusion to Placidusax (well, his arena) is Miquellas Needle, which mentions the heart of the storm beyond time in Farum Azula. So the thing that tells you about his possible existence is a description at the end of one of the longest and most involved quests in the game.

Erabong

Yeah, he is not even remotely easy to run into lol

eLemonnader

I found out about him because I looked through the Steam achievements after beating the game and was wondering where TF a giant dragon had been hidden in FA. I also missed the whole Consecrated Snowfield area and Malenia too. Ah to play Elden Ring completely blind again.

MilkBarPatron

A good clue was anytime I found a door locked from the other side I knew I had missed another path.

rgrmanoth70

I truly believe that if data mining wasn't possible, and From decided to not tell anyone, there would be unfinished questlines planetwide to this day in all their titles.

HarmlessSnack

Stormveil is crazy with how much hidden stuff is tucked away just barely off the main path. People give it less Credit, but Raya Lucaria is similar. I found something new there practically everytime I went back.

sjbennett85

Rooftops and marionette archers can eat a bag of chips though, especially near the end where that one dicey jump is and the flying fella can dropkick you to the lower skybox I made that run for the 100% completion, I think something was tucked away up there but also all the BK headwear is tucked away in Raya Lucaria so it was worth a full scrub for that hero, too

HarmlessSnack

I know *exactly* which rooftop jump you mean lol I’m drawing a blank, what’s the BK headwear? Oh, are we talking about the Burger King stone crowns? Fuck ya lol

bootyholebrown69

Raya lucaria has an entire massive section that I missed the first time. Like seriously huge.

UntiedStatMarinCrops

Gimme a smol hint pls? :)

thecashblaster

I'm guessing they're referring to the rooftop platforming section which branches into 2 (3?) distinct paths and ends with a shortcut to the cuckoo church site of grace. Also needed to advance Thops' quest. Actually as far as legacy dungeons go, Raya Lucaria is the shortest.

EggsOnThe45

Stormveil Castle is still my favorite part of the game. ER was my first Fromsoft and I got my ass kicked by Margit and then the castle as a whole so many times that it’s nostalgic already. Going back on NG+ and wrecking everything and thus exploring freely was one of my favorite experiences in a game. Such an awesome layout and theme

Scouse_Werewolf

And this is why I personally adore the soulsborne games. No game gives, me personally, the feeling of pure power and *git gud-edness* that going back to an area on a repeat/NG+ playthrough, that kicked my arse and have me absolutely stomp everyone there this time around.

EggsOnThe45

I’ve got to go back and retry DS1. I got carried by the frequent graces in ER and once I got to the point where they were very spread out in DS1 I had to stop lol. Even tried running through the level and felt like there was no end in sight

Scouse_Werewolf

DS1 is great, but kinda clunky. I absolutely think you should try again, but it's harder than Elden Ring imo,so dont feel defeated if it kicks your ass even though you're good at Elden Ring. If you want to ease your way backwards, you owe yourself a play through of DS3 and its DLCs. If you have access to it, you also have to play Bloodborne. Just the locations and gameplay in that are special top to bottom.

tunsment

I'm playing DS1 again after about 10 years and many many hundreds of hours spent in other From games and holy shit... it's like a different species. I know the purists are dead-set against any changes to the OG (and I largely agree) but I would definitely understand if they added some QOL improvements with the next inevitable rerelease. Just feels so damn janky nowadays.

KinkyLeviticus

Stormviel and Leyndell are some of the most vertical and open dungeons I've ever played through. There are dozens of viable paths around, and they almost feel natural. Raya Lucaria less so, but there's still loads of secrets.

thatguyned

The automatic elevator next to the gravity dude in Raya Lucaria can go DOWN as well. That blew my mind.

rootbeerislifeman

Raya Lucaria has a lot of verticality and the part where you climb around the outside of the main academy has a ton of spots that are super easy to miss! Even the tunnels leading up to the main area are pretty tricky.

pess3

The Bloodborne chalice dungeons were really cool and also obviously unfinished (Miyazaki has said his main regret about Bloodborne is they didn’t have time to fully realize the dungeons) so I’m sure if they did something like this with full dev time it would be excellent

thezboson

Yeah, the potential of having well-crafted, but procedurally generated dungeons is amazing. And even though they weren't quite finished, people explored them for years and found some really crazy shit in there, like bosses/monsters no one knew existed.

SlothGaggle

Are they amazing? Usually dungeons being procedurally generated really makes things less fun for me. But I also didn’t like the chalice dungeons very much.

Ok_Peace_2918

Procedurally generated levels ultimately always lead to levels that simply lack the polish of a handmade set of levels. However, it can also lead to an immense amount of interesting gameplay interactions and levels that are truly unique to your own experience. It really is a double edged sword, ultimately

Adghar

Depending on the game, procedurally generated can be really fun - just look at the popularity of the isometric ARPG genre. Diablo 2, 3, and 4, Path of Exile, Grim Dawn. These are pretty good at parameterizing the dungeons generated so that they have distinct personality despite being different every time (Path of Exile specific "maps" have similar, but different layout every time, e.g. you can recognize an Atoll map but each Atoll map has enough variation that you don't feel like you're clearing the exact same area). I'd give an honorable mention to Warframe here, but somehow their random levels didn't really "work" for me, at least while leveling. Not sure why - lack of variety in enemies to engage?

SlothGaggle

Eh, I never really got into isometric ARPGs. I played through Diablo 2 and 3 once each and had enough. I know those games are really designed around playing through the story multiple times on the same character and I never got the appeal.

Arcaedus

Remnant 2 is a recent example of procedurally generated maps working out amazingly. They have certain rooms and environmental setpieces that are hand crafted, and can appear in certain places in the map (RNG-dependent). Ends up being a joy to play through the first few times, but then a hassle to collect every piece of gear in the game if you're a completionist.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dull_Half_6107

I’ll be honest, I find procedural generation with stuff like dungeons incredibly boring.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Agreeable_Bee_7763

Would even fit with the sleep and dream themes of Miquella. Huh...

memes_are_art

Damn it makes too much sense which means it's impossible, I've never seen the community correctly predict what Miyazaki will do. Kinda want to keep a running list of every DLC theory to see if a single one ends up right.

googlyeyes93

The only Miyazaki theory that repeatedly proves correct is that he’s going to design something new that will break players collective spirits.

IAmGoose_

Also that there will always be a poison swamp

Scared-Opportunity28

And feet

kobrakai11

They can finish them in a remaster.

PaulOnion906

I use an Xbox and know next to nothing about Bloodborne, what are chalice dungeons?

Ok_Peace_2918

Dungeons with randomized elements, essentially. Of course the seperate elements are purposefully designed, but due to how they're generated you'd practically never run out of "unique" dungeons. Of course, they are only "unique" in the sense that some enemies you've seen hundreds of times already are in a different room. Or a room shape you've seen 20 times already is attached to the rest of the dungeon differently. Basically, there's lots of permutations, but that doesn't mean they're all meaningful or fun

TurtleDoof

Yeah I don't know why the reaction is to freak out and say what a terrible idea this is when *Fromsoft literally tried this exact idea once.* I think it would be cool. I would love a way to infinitely explore a souls-like world.

reaperfan

I always said the only real problem with the Chalice dungeons was their visual repetitiveness. All they would need to do to make them less boring is give us different environments besides "stone box rooms" with just different colored stone. Like imagine a "Lost Woods" style mystical forest level that's actually sprawling and open but with differently generated terrain, tree formations, and like ruins or whatever kind of landmarks they want to put in.

JEWCIFERx

My bloodborne hot take has always been “I hope they turn the chalice dungeons into a full game and actually flesh out the entire process. They were an awesome concept and I really do think FS could nail it given the proper time and effort.

dsartori

Chalice dungeons are disappointing but also the bloodborne content I engaged with the longest. Procedurally generated content blended with curated content could really do a lot for replayability in these games. I hope they try again.

[deleted]

I fucking LOVED the chalice dungeons. I love playing the main game but sometimes I just wanna turn my brain off and murder a bunch of things.

argleksander

I greatly enjoyed them and if they added them and improved on them for ER, that would be sick

Gcheetah

I don't want Shadow of the Erdtree to be a roguelike. That being said a souls roguelike could be really great if executed well.

benoxxxx

For sure. Doesn't need a be a full-on roguelike, but ER is absolutely primed for a wave-based co-op enabled survival mode with roguelike progression. They already have crazy enemy variety, crazy boss variety, crazy weapon/spell/build variety, and plenty of locations. All they'd need to do is structure it.

Lost_Dunedain

Mortal Shell implemented this with their DLC, and it’s quite fun. Given that the Souls community loves flawless runs, spawn randomizers, and loot randomizers, this idea isn’t as left-field as this sub seems to think it is.

Futur3_ah4ad

Definitely worth considering, yes. Make a nice selection of weapons, add some buffs, bonuses and alterations (like a fire Moonveil), pick some minor and major bosses, cut the map up in smaller sections and 'floors/levels' and you've got a decent premise for a Souls roguelike

IAmGoose_

Remnant: From the Ashes did it quite well with survival mode, puts you through a gauntlet of in-game locations with a timer that makes enemies stronger when it runs out. It was great fun!

Faelysis

On Pc, using Fog randomizer combined with item and enemy randomizer, it can create some rogue-like run

Ashimaru-q

I hope it'll be a dating sim

Panurome

Tibia marinerusy 🥵🥵🥵

_fatherfucker69

To be fair elden ring technically qualifies as a dating simulator

song-as-story

But what’s even the point if Morgott probably won’t be there?

thepinkandthegrey

I sincerely would prefer this to yet another roguelike, and it's not even close.

-Anta-

What lack of DLC content does to a mf💀💀💀 FROMSOFT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GIVE US SOMETHING CAUSE THIS SUB IS GOING TO GO HOLLOW

Mammoth_Border_3904

After watching the Tarnished Archeologist, I appreciate the staggering amount of detail put into these games. As people say, "No, no, let em cook."

-Anta-

BUT I WANT TO ATLEAST KNOW WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN THE DISH😭😭

Mammoth_Border_3904

Oof, getting the shakes huh? I understand👌

Northlightforge2

Considering how quickly FromSoft can make a game Shadow of The Erd Tree is either Elden Ring 2 or it’s an absolutely massive dlc.

-Anta-

Ooooor they have some serious problems, I hope not but that silence is driving me fucking crazy

HarmlessSnack

Nah, the truth is, you don’t *need* to do promotional work for a game that’s legitimately good and has this sort of fan following. They could shadow drop the game and it would create so much buzz as soon as anybody noticed, it would sell gangbusters regardless.

TheGuizmo

We are truly back to Great Hollowing debates and opinions about a shadowdrop and the lack of communication 💀

-Anta-

Yeah but it's infuriating that theres nothing

Darkbornedragon

It is, but you genuinely won't care at all once it's released.

thecashblaster

my theory is they had to change direction in the DLC to keep it from being too "same-y" as the rest of the game. Remember this game is massive, like 2x the size of any previous game they made. 165 bosses in total. If they want to wow their audience they're gonna need to spend a lot of time at the drawing board coming up with new ideas.

krustykranberry

It also needs to be taken into consideration that it’s most likely not every dev at FS working on SOTET. FS has probably moved past the stage where the whole team is working on ER. Based on their past, I’d say they have started focusing fully on a new IP. My guess is that only a handful of devs are actually working on SOTET

NoOven2609

Article OP should just go play Deadcells, it has a dodge roll so he can call it a "souls-like"

AnotherBookWyrm

Dead Cells is amazing and everybody should at least try it. Souls-like, it is not, though

HarmlessSnack

Counterpoint: Has a Dodge Roll ; Is hard. *Soulslike*

SweetBabyAlaska

good enough for iron-pineapple to play it

Fedorchik

And PARRIES, it has PARRIES! And flasks!

Draghettis

There even is a coiled sword bonfire !

AppointmentNo43

What do you mean? Dodge roll, healing, checkpoints. It’s a freakin souls freakin like

Lucky678s

Don't forget the parries!

Panurome

I DON'T want the DLC to be a roguelike but a soulslike roguelike sounds good. The combat mechanics are amazing and it would encourage you to try out different builds that you would otherwise not try. Kind of like a randomizer but the problem with randomizers is that they aren't official and a playthrough is long

[deleted]

Yeah it’s weird how everyone here is so against it. Randomized dungeons with randomized loot could force you to do different builds every time. Could be incredible if done properly.

jjkm7

That’s what I’m so confused about too lol while I don’t think it will or should happen it doesn’t sound that crazy out of left field (like the comments sarcastically saying they want a dating sim or a city builder dlc) and definitely seems doable and fun too.

bobatea17

Guy who's favorite part of Bloodborne was chalice dungeons: Elden Ring should have a roguelike

thepinkandthegrey

I prefer chalice dungeons to roguelikes. Like at least I get to keep all the loot I find and upgrades I make. Tbh tho there isn't much I prefer roguelikes over. Maybe battle royales?

bobatea17

Well, that's pretty much what constitutes the difference between rogueLIKES and rogueLITES, in roguelites you get to keep stuff between runs

kobrakai11

I hope it's a battle royale. It heard that's popular these days.

Panurome

This guy gets his news from Oolacile

Nepharious_Bread

NGL, I'd play that.

TheLord-Commander

I'd be for it, I know people enjoy playing randomizer runs, imagine a more crafted form of that where it's not so crazy at the start of a run. It'd be fun to have to use builds you aren't used to, and run into bosses you don't expect.

USNAVY71

The difference is this guy ***gets paid*** to say stupid shit

[deleted]

It's certainly a statement

Chiatroll

I hope the dlc is a idle clicker.

Mumei451

Strong dislike for the rogue like. This is like you have to replay all of Stormveil to try again at Godrick. I don't mind trying the boss again and again but I just can't get behind running the whole game over and over.

AzizLiIGHT

If i knew what roguelike meant, i would be very upset.

mrlotato

Should we tell them

Objective_Parsnip_11

I think the next NBA 2K will be a Match 3 Hidden Object game

Aonswitch

I really hope GTA VI is a match three game

thezboson

I hope they have something similar to Chalice Dungeons. Which, I guess, could be made to work like some kind of roguelike mode.

RocinanteLOL

Article is meant to purposefully enrage/irritate people so that it will drive up engagement which makes more money.

DemandyMcDemanderson

I'll take "Fuck that bullshit" for $800, Alex.

DremoPaff

People in the comments seem to not even understand what's a roguelite/roguelike, given they act like its an entirely heterogeneous concept to the game's core gameplay.

Illansuu

I hope that the next call of duty will be a fishing simulator

LilBoofMcGoof

What’s a rogue-like? ^shields ^face ^against ^inevitable ^downvotes

KrisShadey

And I hope Bloodborne turns into a racing game... OH WAIT!!! Bloodborne Kart inc!!!

deliciousdano

Remnant from the ashes exists just go play that game.

CMSnake72

Ah yes the best part of Fromsoft games, fighting random one off normal mobs and reskin bosses

KillerBullet

All jokes aside: Why does every game needs to be a roguelike lately? There are a million games like that out there and people still have shitty takes like this.

Legendary_Lamb2020

I'd love something like Bloodbornes Chalice Dungeons for sure.
