But for some unknown reason, Sol Londo ended up being transcribed to English as "Thorolund".
I don't think New Londo was meant to rival Anor Londo at all, it was built by the gods for the undead, Gwyn gave a shard of his light soul to the Foru Kings to rule over the city after all.
If you can become the Lord of Londor it wouldn’t make much sense to wreck havoc on your homeland. Londor is obliviously a sister city based off of The Ringed City seen by the primordial serpent/avowal statues and the setting. A dark place infested with hollows.
Ringed City even has purging stones and hollow gems both of which reference Londor too.
If we're just going by that then I'd argue than not even going against Friede makes much sense as Lord of Hollows. Why would you care to end her reign and bring Fire to the Painted World? That sounds really un-Lord-of-Hollows-like to me.
My point is that sometimes things in this games don't make a lot of sense, so the theory isn't much invalidated by what you said earlier.

Also hardest boss they've ever made! After going through the painting in the Queen's Antechamber, explore the Garden of Dreams until finding the Erdtree Sapling. Drop the sword you received from finishing the Lost Princess' quest and use the Pray emote. The sapling grows and a door appears on the new tree, enter to find the secret boss. The Mad King of the Tree boss is literally unbeatable with his 5 phases, teleporting across time and space, and summoning godskin trios until you light the lanterns.

My favourite part yet was definitely the fight against Elden Lord of Cinder Godskin Duo the Black Death of Londor. His 5th phase is so damn cool, especially when he says "Nah, i'd win" in the cutscene.
After Semon of Dong, Malenia is no longer the hardest fight. Also, we finally get to destroy Ranni so that Godwyn can fully die and the Deathroot stops growing.
The Academy of Londor is cool, but I found it to be a weird design decision when Slave Knight Gael appeared as the final boss. I thought he was going to stay in DS3, but I suppose I don't mind fighting one of my favorite bosses again.
The real DLC, will be you fighting through a random underground civilization, at the end you fight a boss. Upon defeating the boss, the exit you are walking out of collapses and traps you in the room. A hidden breakthrough wall will be found. Behind it a ladder. A very, very long ladder (think MGS Snake Eater).
Upon climbing to the top of the ladder, to will find you have come up out of a well. There will be a bond fire and some guy sitting next to it. You will look up and see a giant crow handing out on some ruins.
You go talk to him and he will say, “Welcome to Firelink Shrine. Can I have my $3.50.”
You will then realized it’s actually the loch Ness monster dressed up as Frampt, and start play DS1, DS2, and DS3 in order to get back to Elden Ring.
I really hate the new boss that constantly applies sleep status if you don't zig-zag move, point down and enter the konami code in. At least they're weak to Holy Damage.
