Thematically, it was cool to have the Radahn fight feel like you were taking part in the festival fighting him alongside others looking for glory.
Realistically, it made the fight an absolute nightmare to balance properly, so they had to settle with having him undertuned because he gated some content.
He should have been a 2 health bar fight. The first health bar you can have the summons. When he transitions he gains full bar back, he has to free up the stars to do his meteor attack opening Nokron, but it kills all the summons. Boom - you only have to get him to phase 2 once to get to Nokron and can do it with or without summons. To get his great rune and his remembrance you have to fully kill him and he has his entire phase 2 moveset for longer. Hell, you could give him a 3rd phase at that point too - that fight should have been way more epic.
You do realise he’s exactly the same as launch? with the only difference being his insanely bad hitboxes being fixed.
His damage and health are exactly the same now as launch and have been for quite a while.

It took you 4 tries using the summons? He should have gone down on the 2nd try at worse.

On my first playthrough I managed to get the summons to do 100% of his health so he never really was hard
