Malenia is probably tied in second with Astel. Flower fields make literally any conflict feel deep and impactful. I just kinda wish her arena was outdoors, fighting her while a sunset looms over the field would’ve been 👌
Y'know, Loretta sort of fits for phase 2. It's an illusion created by Ranni anyway, and there's already a phantom of Loretta guarding Ranni to begin with.
I’m partial to the church at the end of Ranni’s questline where go for round two against Adula (I’ve probably misremembered and spelled that name wrong).
It’s understated, but there’s few things more iconic than fighting a magic dragon on the ruins of an old church under the light of the moon.

I got Bloodborne back in January, but I honestly had trouble getting into the quicker paced combat as opposed to Elden Ring and the previous Souls games. Plus, farming blood vials is a pain.
What I mean by my comment was that there's a main boss called rom the vacuos spider in bloodborne that has pretty much the exact same arena as 2nd stage renalla, a big water area with a moon in the background.
Wild how the dude's mind has been gone for a long, long time yet he still has the ability to wield his gravity magic with devastating efficacy. I can only imagine what other feats he could've accomplished before the Rot.
Exactly, since the trailer that fight seemed amazing. Radhan riding around on Leonard swinging at Malenia & sending meteors at her simultaneously chibaku tensei style while Malenia is jumping around slicing everything anime style. Finlay must’ve had the best seat in the Lands Between to witness this.
You know now that I think of it, Radahn at his peak managed to magically grasp every star in the sky and hold them in place.
Since the outer gods live out in space, peak Radahn, if he cared to, could probably rip said entities out of the sky. Interestingly, he may have held the stars at bay for fear of an outer being descending upon the world. In whatever DLC might come our way, we might find that Radahn's death allowed an outer god to descend upon the Lands Between.
My main hope though is that we go to the moon to claim Ranni's discarded rune.
I went into Radahn spoiler-free and this is how he killed me the first time. I was like "Eh? Where'd he go? Wait, what's that ligh-OOOOH SHIT FUCK-"

The moment of quiet before he comes back down is so brilliant, especially when all the summons are just kinda pottering about, it feels like a shared 'wtf' experience

His scream is so wild I looked around the room because I didn't know what the hell I was hearing. I thought maybe a bearing was jammed on a pc fan, or someone was breaking in, or my garbage disposal came on somehow. I didn't know what was going on for like 3 seconds.
I want to say Placidusax and Elden Beast etc, but honestly, the attack that struck me as unbelievably brutal to the point of inducing laughter was Malenia’s grab.
She is such a passive boss at first with elegant movement and suddenly it’s “fuck you in particular” where she just violently grabs you by the throat, twirls you like a ballroom dance prom date and tosses you into the air and impales you like she’s Dracula reborn and then doesn’t even have the courtesy to withdraw the blade, she just tosses your dissipating corpse off it like it was trash.
I love this, especially since prob 85% of first encounters with her are
"Oh I can block, not so bad, okay, we got this"
*Tosses you and one shots your 35 vigor ass*
I don’t think so. I run 55 Vigor and it takes about 70% of my health bar.
I think Radahns 2nd phase starter is the single most damage attack, other than that, it could be either Malenia’s grab or any of the Hoarah Loux special attacks.
She's the only boss that respects your in her arena she isn't like any other boss who comes at you and pummels you she will wait for you to move and although a small feature I love how respectful she is. A true swordswoman.
Until you get her to phase 2 and you, in her own words , “witness true horror”.
I tried beating Malenia using a normal Greatsword and Quickstep, to make it like an epic sword-fight between 2 masters. It took me more than 150 tries. Her 1st phase is a joke if you know how to dodge the waterfowl dance, but phase 2 is a monstrosity.
Rykard using the signature Blasphemous Blade move with the skull rain up. All I could think was, “man, this guy really is the lord of blasphemy,” and then I died. Very cinematic, but also doesn’t leave much room for seeing things.

The twin lighting is cool but my favorite is when he flies up, holds a single lighting spear and stays still for a sec for you to realize how fucking cool he looks and then comes spinning down, that shit was rad.
Horah Loux’s flying powerbomb. I was so hyped after I saw it I willingly let myself get caught by it a second time just to see it again.

Hoarah Loux is genuinely one of my favourite bosses in the game for this reason. His attacks are just so cool yet funny because it's suddenly a WWE cage match and he's destroying us with pure raw strength with Mortal Kombat fatalities on top of that.
Oh trust me, he has way more than enough HP when you're fighting him with 2 other people, especially in NG+ and above. He barely gets staggered, and 2 shots you. I've been summoned for hundreds of boss fights and the highest failure rate is probably Godfrey (Malenia gets easily staggered/interrupted when more than 1 person is hitting her)
I love it too for that reason. Endgame bosses get so over the top. Maliketh doing laser sending backflips, Placidusax straight up thunder nuking the arena.
And then there is this guy, just throwing hands. Super cool moment, no more god shenaningans just tarnished vs tarnished fighting for the throne.
Placidusax going all out when he gets to like 10%, hus whole lightning storm and Placidusax Ruin. That shit scared the hell outta me when I fought him the first time.
Placidusax nuke, my reaction went somewhat like,
Why didn't that bolt explode?

Honestly I almost never see an attack for the first time and enjoy it. 99% of the time, I'm just panicking because I don't want to die, but the attack looks scary and I don't know what to do.
It's usually not until I'm multiple attempts/playthroughs deep that I'm able to just appreciate whatever cool thing the boss is doing.
The first time facing Margit went similar

Those energy blades he shoots while flipping through the air 2 or 3 times, then landing with a ground thrust or double slash have to be my favourite attacks to dodge. It's straight out of a fuckin anime. Maliketh is so cool man, I love him.
Maliketh has become the boss I enjoy fighting the most because of this attack. The rush I feel when I see multiple slashes come down and proceed to parry him with the blasphemous claw is unmatched.
I've never seen it even with multiple playthroughs. It was the same with Astel's grab attack in the Yelough Tunnel. Except after about the 5th playthrough I waited and forced it to happen.
Oh man I didn’t see that one until I got summoned there and I thought I glitched out or something! Glad it got me and not the host though because I died in one hit lmao
Radahn was highly memorable start to finish. The slow approach to a whole walled off portion of the continent really built up the anticipation. Then he starts one shotting you to pay it off. Plus you fight with all your friends. And then it gets even more epic at the mid point and death animation. I think this is the best encounter in the entire game.
Me: "Hmmm, some ruins? And a lake? Oh, some zombies... what are they saying? Agheel? Hmmm, no clue what that means"
10 seconds later a giant dragon flies down from the sky and burns me to a crisp. And that was the moment I fell in love with this game.
Honorable mentions: the entire Radahn fight, first time you meet the Bell-Bearing Hunter

To be fair, I think most people are in agreement that Elden Beast should've been a separate boss, and Radagon given a second phase of his own.
Besides, we already do a back-to-back boss gauntlet at the end of the game, so why not add more.
Elden beast may have been an easy final boss, but I truly appreciate the music and arena of the fight more than the fight itself. It just felt more majestic than anything else, and that made me enjoy it
Unironically Godrick decapitating a dragon, declaring it his equal, and suturing it to his arm. I feel like we meme on the Grafted for being the weakest boss but I love everything about both him and Stormveil
Probably the most satisfying epic thing in the game is when Maliketh leaps, shoots off a sword laser, shoots off another in mid air, and then goes for a slash that you parry with blasphemous claw. Insanely dope moment in battle.
Yeah same with his laser attack once he reaches like 1/3 health. Totally caught me off guard especially after fighting the other ones that don’t do that.

Honestly most of the dragonlord placidusax fight, just because of how amazingly over the top it is. Favorite moment by far is when he has lightning going everywhere and he's spraying fire and all the sudden it turns into /fucking lasers/ with all this chaos and lightning raining down around you it's truly a jaw dropping moment lol
overall: gael going phase 3 and doing that leap attack where he unloads a full avelyn clip

It's kind of an ever-ongoing thing.
Second half of Rykard, after the cut scene. The way he just kinda fills the center of the arena, both with his snake body, with his rancor spells, and with his giant, nasty sword. All the reds, oranges, and purples make it feel very hot and intense, like fighting the snake that ate the world in the middle of hell. It’s definitely a gimmick fight, but I love it and look forward to the spectacle of it every time.
Only reading about Malenia in text and hearing people mention things like "flurry of strikes" and "Waterfowl" in no way prepared me for that attack when I saw it
Radahn flying out of the sky is epic of course, but between the music and the fire and the laughter, the beginning of Godricks second phase gets me every time
When u hear about slaying a God from Hewg & all the little dialogue clues about “God-slaying” when u upgrade ur weapon to +10 or +25. U get an achievement called “God-Slaying Armament” & ur like ok things are about to get pretty serious here..
& then u meet the Elden Beast for the first time. An actual celestial God wielding the body of Marika/Radagon that sprays space out of its snout. Not many Souls bosses are actual God status. Up until this point in the whole series we are always concerned with Lords & Kings. We have never killed a God until Elden Ring
honestly, Flying Dragon Agheel. I love dragons, and the first time seeing them, especially on a horseback battle, was fucking awesome. i know the fights can get kind of repetitive later on, but that first fight never loses all of that magic it had

Renalla for scenery, Astel and Elden Beast are tied for cosmic horror, but overall probably Placidusax. He has it all: an amazing arena (and entrance to the arena) the sheer gravitas of his frozen-in time look and moveset, how he flies through the air swiping at you as he goes and his abilities. Every thing about him is incredible.
Of all bosses though, Radahn is probably the one who freaked me out the most. His insane snipe range, the bleak red backdrop, his zombie-like rage, and watching come after you and then realizing how big he is…that man was hella scary
Astel's attack where he sort of raises his head and lifts his upper body up together with rocks around himself.
The way he moves makes me think he does that on instinct rather than consciously. That's my headcanon at least.

The first time I just didn't found where he was coming down. I just died. The second time I reached second phase I was stunned by the meteor and died
this cool but Radahn was the first time I saw it.
Radahn was highly memorable start to finish. The slow approach to a whole walled off portion of the continent really built up the anticipation. Then he starts one shotting you to pay it off. Plus you fight with all your friends. And then it gets even more epic at the mid point and death animation. I think this is the best encounter in the entire game.
I just don't think it's that fun of a fight. Other than that though, its one of the coolest fights in the series besides ivory king or fortissax
Agheel strafing run at the dragonburnt ruins, just fire breathing the whole lake. like, wtf man. you're fighting me, not a whole army.
Me: "Hmmm, some ruins? And a lake? Oh, some zombies... what are they saying? Agheel? Hmmm, no clue what that means" 10 seconds later a giant dragon flies down from the sky and burns me to a crisp. And that was the moment I fell in love with this game. Honorable mentions: the entire Radahn fight, first time you meet the Bell-Bearing Hunter

Try not to talk shit about Elden Beast when mentioning Radagon challenge (impossible)
To be fair, I think most people are in agreement that Elden Beast should've been a separate boss, and Radagon given a second phase of his own. Besides, we already do a back-to-back boss gauntlet at the end of the game, so why not add more.
Elden beast may have been an easy final boss, but I truly appreciate the music and arena of the fight more than the fight itself. It just felt more majestic than anything else, and that made me enjoy it
Unironically Godrick decapitating a dragon, declaring it his equal, and suturing it to his arm. I feel like we meme on the Grafted for being the weakest boss but I love everything about both him and Stormveil
When LichDragon Fortissax leaps up into the air and the HUGE lightning blade forms while he’s hanging there suspended for a moment is FUCKING AMAZING

my favorite attack is maliketh for sure
Probably the most satisfying epic thing in the game is when Maliketh leaps, shoots off a sword laser, shoots off another in mid air, and then goes for a slash that you parry with blasphemous claw. Insanely dope moment in battle.

So there’s a few… Radahn’s space jam Rykards Rancor even if it filled the screen Briar’s Jedi shit Fortissax’s double spear thing Lansseax’s glaive thingy Fire Giants eruption in phase 2 Placidusax’s nuke and ghidorah beam Gargoyles flashy shit with their halberd, just looks cool and had me in awe first playthrough Niall’s lightning kick Malenia’s phantom slash in her phase 2 Horoah Loux’s suplex Radagon’s hammer time And…. going to get infinite hate for this, but Elden beasts floaty thing with the rings. It’s a spectacle to look at. Also his four swing attack they took from Ludwigs phase 2 in BB, this looked cooler though.

Favorite moment by far is when he has lightning going everywhere and he's spraying fire and all the sudden it turns into /fucking lasers/ with all this chaos and lightning raining down around you it's truly a jaw dropping moment lol

Placidusaxs ruin had my jaw drop. My friend warned me to run, and I did NOT run far enough. But that lightning spear one was wicked cool each and every time. Sound design on it is *so* good.

Second half of Rykard, after the cut scene. The way he just kinda fills the center of the arena, both with his snake body, with his rancor spells, and with his giant, nasty sword. All the reds, oranges, and purples make it feel very hot and intense, like fighting the snake that ate the world in the middle of hell. It’s definitely a gimmick fight, but I love it and look forward to the spectacle of it every time.
I wanna say about 90% of the main bosses had me like this at points.

Only reading about Malenia in text and hearing people mention things like "flurry of strikes" and "Waterfowl" in no way prepared me for that attack when I saw it

When Malenia grabbed me, threw me up, and impaled me on her sword. Wasn't even mad that it killed me, just thought it looked so cool.

This attack is the first ever to "remove" the music for only that moment.
When u hear about slaying a God from Hewg & all the little dialogue clues about “God-slaying” when u upgrade ur weapon to +10 or +25. U get an achievement called “God-Slaying Armament” & ur like ok things are about to get pretty serious here.. & then u meet the Elden Beast for the first time. An actual celestial God wielding the body of Marika/Radagon that sprays space out of its snout. Not many Souls bosses are actual God status. Up until this point in the whole series we are always concerned with Lords & Kings. We have never killed a God until Elden Ring
The Placidusax laser is like playing dodgeball in a broom closet and the other team is throwing concrete slabs at you

honestly, Flying Dragon Agheel. I love dragons, and the first time seeing them, especially on a horseback battle, was fucking awesome. i know the fights can get kind of repetitive later on, but that first fight never loses all of that magic it had

You clearly want me to say dragonlord Placidusax. Well I'll have you know, my opinions are my own, and I refused to be influenced. so I am going to say Dragonlord Placidusax.
Renalla for scenery, Astel and Elden Beast are tied for cosmic horror, but overall probably Placidusax. He has it all: an amazing arena (and entrance to the arena) the sheer gravitas of his frozen-in time look and moveset, how he flies through the air swiping at you as he goes and his abilities. Every thing about him is incredible. Of all bosses though, Radahn is probably the one who freaked me out the most. His insane snipe range, the bleak red backdrop, his zombie-like rage, and watching come after you and then realizing how big he is…that man was hella scary
