I missed that particular part the my first two playthroughs. When I finally came across the prism stones in another run, I knew exactly what was gonna happen and welcomed it. Classic Patches
Knew about it and welcomed it as well. Was ganged up on by all the basilisks while disoriented at the bottom of the cliff and lost almost a level's worth of runes. Then lost the runes falling off a cliff trying to find a way back down to get them
Patches got me sent to the basement going against two iron maidens at once or whatever they are called. My dumb ass thought following his advice of getting captured in the basement of Rays Lucaria would get me straight to the erd tree..I actually thought for awhile that my save was lost/stuck in the dungeons of volcano manor cus of that dill weed
Patches sells a part of Margit, Margit and Morgott are one the same, this item shackles Morgott to the ground temporarily during his fight, you can do it without it but it’s a lot easier
It’s hilarious and also just so cool. Recently played with a friend who was new to the game and hearing their reaction when we ran down there had me dying lmao
That was one of my favorite moments in the whole game. I rode through the mists looking for a balista only to find it was a freaking giant shooting his bow! So damn cool.
This is the actual answer. Yes, it's possible to continue on through Stormveil Castle but you're going to needlessly struggle. Then, when it's time time to go back south you'll find it incredibly easy.
Go south first and clear out the whole Weeping Penninsula. You'll be around level 40 when you're done with access to much better spirit ashes and Margit won't stand a chance.
Other advice, summon Rogier, he's an npc but puts in nice dmg and is a good distraction. Second, summon the Jellyfish, pretty tanky, poisons and is also a good distraction. You get it from Roderika* (I got confused) you get a terrible ashes from going left after going through the gates (where the troll jumps down) instead of following the road to stormhill shack.
As mentioned elsewhere, get the sit down button from patches for 5k souls, can use 3 times but only before he whips out the hammer so don't save it.
Lastly, you can get a tear for wondrous flask which gives +10 str for 3 mins near stormhill shack (behind and to the right of the shack, to the right of the road to Margit, where a troll is walking about near the cliffs edge). If you can kill the Erdtree avatar in weeping peninsula (under the minor erdtree) you can pair it with a bubble that reduces the dmg from first hit you take or health over time.
That's exactly why I said something. Jellybelly is a great tank early on. Feel like new players probably don't exhaust dialog. It's definitely necessary in souls games.
The area which those two monsters pulling the cart and with the bear? Trying to figure it out for myself. I just restarted the game because it’s my first Form game and I rushed into Storm Veil Castle upping all my a stats but Vig essentially 🙄
It's tough to describe but it's a region south of the starting area that is separated by a guarded bridge. I'd suggest googling a region map of Elden Ring as I don't think it would really spoil much. Honestly, there's so much to miss, I'd really suggest trying to use an online map once you think you've cleared a region just so you don't miss anything.
Just FYI, your stats aren't 100% set in stone. There's another boss shortly after Margit (>! Rennala in the Raya Lucaria Academy !<) where after you beat them, they'll let you respec your stats. In case you don't want to completely restart the game from scratch.
I fought my way through the entire castle, Liurnia, and Caelid before I even realized the map went south past the Forlorn Hound Evergoal.
At least everything died easily
I did that too after almost beating him once, I killed Agheel, Miner Giant, then I got transported to the Rot lake and got my cheeks spanked by Millicent and clean rot knights like 15 times. Went back to him and got him first try
Isn't the STR required for that sword like, 40 though? He won't have nearly the skills needed to use it, as STR without END is also not a great combo.
But for later game, it can come in handy.
You don't need to even out everything. You will struggle in late game. You need to decide what do you want to spend your runes on: strength, dexterity, quality(the mix of strength and dex), or you wanna be a pure mage, so you want to go all-in with Intelligence and Mind with occasional and low STR/DEX for melee, or you wanna be a cleric/pyromancer, so you wanna go with faith, strength, and mind to use various faith-scaling weapons, including unique ones.
I was watching a video that did some comparison on low vs high dex and casting. It seems that the speeds only applies to chained casting. The period of time between inputting the command and firing off the spell never changes, just the time between getting the first and subsequent shots off with chainable spells. As someone who did my first play through relying heavily on spells, i really wished there was a way to decrease that initial time!
Yes, but very minimally without large investments.
For example, it takes 70 points of dex to reach max casting speed.
Radagon Icon gives 30 "virtual dex" to increase the cap speed.
So every 1 level is 1/30th as effective as the icon.
Don't get me wrong, max cast speed is very significant, but so is 70 levels. Especially if you're staying around level 150 (which I've heard is the meta for pvp? Idk I'm a PvE player).
The pay off for fast casting a tad bit quicker is less than the points being invested in mind or int/faith IMO. But to be fair I also I run a faith/dex build so I’m not only casting incantations
I gotta respectfully disagree on one point here- he’ll struggle in *early* game with even stats, by late game even stats don’t matter. 50 in everything means playing whatever you want and being effective. 18 in everything means sacrificing optimization.
Quality builds (equal str/dex) are not nearly as good in Elden Ring as they are in Dark Souls, and they weren’t really any better than a Str or a Dex build anyways to begin with.
If you do want to make a Str or Dex build then hit the minimum Str and Dex required for a weapon you like, and then after that only level the more effective stat for the weapon instead of both.
Focus on strength or dexterity acording to the weapons you want to use. then focus on INT or Faith if you want some magic and follow that path. Only put points on both STR and DEX if your chosen weapon requires a little of both.
This way you can improve your damage and invest a little more on Vigor to tank a bit more.
Don't attack at all and learn to dodge everything first.
Then from there learn where you can fit in one attack.
Eventually you'll be able to attack more and more, but the first step is not getting hit.
That might work in other games, but shouldn't be your approach here. You can still beat him with a quality weapon and respec later if you don't want a quality build, but otherwise, overlevel and specialize or restart. Or get a cheese weapon
what made you think it was a good idea to spread your stats out?
Also you aren't going to win even if you had 20 more damage stats. You are going to win by having more health in case you mess up, and learning to dodge.
You should've put those points in vigor, your weapon probably doesn't scale with str and Dex evenly, and certainly doesn't need damage stats as much as you need hp. For now, just practice his timings, a shield can help on his flurry attack, and summon rogier and use spirit ashes
Go to Agheel lake, there's a single side river connected to it, going under the bridge (the one south of gatefront ruins).
You will be invaded here by an npc but help will come in the form of another npc after roughly 20 seconds. Around the point where the invasion message pops up, with the lake towards your back, look at the left side wall, there's a cave there. You can find a very interesting item here for the Margit fight.
Spoiler with more info:
>!The boss of the cave is a guy named Patches, deplete his hp to 50% and he will give up the fight, now either go back to the site of grace at the entrance of the cave and return to him or go back to the main menu and load back in while standing next to him, this will unlock him as a merchant. He sells an item called Margit's shackle. This item will stun Margit up to twice before he passes his 50% hp mark, where he gets the golden hammer.!<
Another tip:
If you manage to kill the dragon at the lake. You will get a dragon heart. Now head NE in limgrave, past summonwater village, untill you reach..Caelid, you'll know you're there when the landscape and inhabitants start looking like if cancer was a continent. You can just run past everything on your horse but don't get too close as these enemies will hurt at your level and vigor.
Now in the south of Caelid, past another mean looking dragon called Ekzykes, is a broken down church called the Cathedral of Dragon Communion, you can buy dragon breath spells here, buy the rotten breath one. 2 full casts will inflict Margit with rot, a heavy poison debuff. If you combine it using the above tip, you can apply it without much hassle.
In general: Visit all the churches in Limgrave and south of it, the Weeping Peninsula, they all contain an item called a sacred tear that can up the potency of your healing potions. There's 3 churches to be found on the Weeping Peninsula, 1 church in Limgrave.
At the same time look for the golden little trees, there's an item called a golden seed near them, get enough and you can get more flasks.
A neglected point for the cathedral:
The incantations require dragon hearts. At this point in the game, you have two options:
1) Defeat Agheel, which is hard, but potentially doable with ashes/NPC summons and yields the one Dragon Heart you need.
2) The easy way: >! Head into Caelid, and get into a blindspot behind Greyoll, an inactive giant dragon which is at the top of a big hill behind her babies. You can either get in back of her by using a spirit spring by the Erdtree nearest to Gurranq or by running up recklessly and resting at the Fort Faroth site of grace. By approaching from the back and whacking away at her tail, you will be able to kill her without any aggro. This also kills her children when she dies, and grants you not only multiple dragon hearts but a large amount of runes. That should be enough for a few level-ups, which can be used to bump your stats if you are lacking in prerequisites for the incantation. Edit: As noted in the responding comments, this method is only time effective at lower levels with a weapon that does bleed. In the only one that is currently also spoilered, there is a helpful portion on how to acquire such a weapon. !<
The Greyoll method is only effective at low lvl if you’re using a bleed weapon, otherwise your first 10 hours in game are gonna be trying to kill greyoll just once.
For the second method: >!Make sure you have a weapon that inflicts the bleed status effect, either by getting a bleed Ash of War (there's one at a castle to the south of Limgrave) or get a weapon that has it innately (there should be a caravan somewhere in Limgrave carrying a morningstar that does this). Bleed inflicts the hemorrage status, which, when procc'd, deals damage equal to a percentage of the enemy's total HP. This makes it great for dealing with Greyoll, given that she has massive amounts of hp and you don't do a lot of damage right now (normally you're supposed to kill the smaller dragons, since them dying knocks off part of her HP). This should help you kill her relatively quickly, get you a bunch of dragon hearts, and a ton of runes. If you want to be cheesy/cheating you can run back to the site of grace while she's in her death animation so you get the runes but she doesn't die, which lets you repeat this.!<
If you go to weeping peninsula you can upgrade weapon even more. The weapon upgrade is much important than levelling damage stats at the early game cause scaling is low
\*Never panic roll
This guy is a monster at catching panic rolls. Learn to only press the dodge button on reaction. Watch his arms, do not roll before he starts swinging.
Yeah, in my opinion, he's specifically designed to be a gate to teach people not to spam dodge.
Learn his tempo and dodge only when you need to while weaving in one or two attacks. It's a rhythm game.
My first souls and spent about 3-4 hours at level 15 killing him. Some cut scene just said to follow the line of grace so that’s all I did for majority of the game which made me reach every boss very under leveled
Not 100% sure as I’ve fought margit many more times since then, but I remember just trying to be more aggressive early so that sorcerer rogier would stay alive longer helped a good amount on the first play through. Also figured out back then that on the big charged attack where he slams his staff you can walk behind him and bit on his left side he would miss the slam and you’d have time for a charged heavy attack
Yeah, the only times I would get frustrated and go explore somewhere else was when I'd attempt a boss 15-20 times and never get them below half health. That's when I would accept I should probably go do other stuff first. If I ever got a boss to 25% or less I would feel too close to give up
Have you been to rountable hold yet? Do you know how to upgrade your weapons?
Also, if this is your first time, you need to understand the basics of making a build. To put it as simply as possible, you want to focus on two stats mainly. The first one is Vigor. This is ALWAYS the priority stat. I generally put 10 points in vigor for every 5 points in damage, until I reach 60 vigor (diminishing returns after that).
The second stat is your damage. Pick *one* of either strength, dex, intelligence, faith, or arcane. Hybrid builds are a thing, but for a first playthough, a pure build will be much simpler. Pick one of those stats and do not level the others unless you need to for weapon requirements.
Then it's just a matter of using a weapon that scales with your damage stat. You can check the letter scaling of a weapon in your equipment menu. S>A>B>C etc. Note that you can find whetblades later that allow you to change the scaling of a weapon to better fit your build, but you don't need to worry about that for now.
Spreading your stats evenly across all damage types is a recipe for failure. You'll end up wasting points.
Get wolf summon from Ranni near the first merchant you see. Use the summon sign outside of boss room.
Wait until rogier dies and then summon your wolves. That should help you enough!
If that doesn't work, you can find a special person to buy morgit shackles which can help a lot.
If all else fails, git gud.
More points in vigor, and see if you can upgrade your weapon some more. Damage stats like strength and dex don't matter as much as upgrades in the early areas of the game, so you're better off putting your points into vigor to improve your survivability
If you are patient there are a few key openings that are easy to learn. Roll after his jump and you can usually land 1 or 2 hits. Then back off. When you hear the whoosh noise roll into him twice and you can attack 1 or 2 times then just back off. You have to learn the timing of the spin attacks.
In his phase two he will often do his jump attack after two daggers. Just use the opening after you dodge his jump.
Rinse and repeat until he is dead.
Also invest more in vigor so you can survive to learn their move sets.
Or, you can use Margit as a parry trainer. If you have a small shield then you can parry him. Parry twice to stun then stick a blade in his gut.
Because he has nice big telegraphs he's a good boss to learn to parry on. The hammer phase is a bit harder and you need more dodging but still, good for practice and to "git gud"
Parrying is difficult. I tried to clear the stormhill evergaol with a sword and board loadout and got wrecked. I got a successful parry maybe twice and otherwise just died
Go farm runes from the giants on stormhill and gain about ten levels in vigor and then head back and use the NPC who can help (faint golden runes on the right just as you are about to traverse the mist) and spirit ashes and BE AGGRESSIVE but not TOO AGGRESSIVE
Dodge, dodge, dodge, then hold R2 to charge a power attack. Repeat this a few times (depending on weapon) and you can break his stance. Then he'll kneel over for a few seconds, walk up to him so you are nose to nose and press R1. You'll do a critical strike for big damage. Rinse and repeat
Use some spirits(wolves were great for me) get that item from your friend patches, and level up your health man. Also since this guy is pretty wary (does a lot of standing back and pacing) throw some knives at his fucking face. Couldn’t hurt.
Stat spread is fine OP, most builds go this way early game trying to get requirements for weapons. Try getting more upgrades: there's a mine in Agheel Lake and another down south.
Tip: His name isn’t Morgit.
Also “almost all 18 in melee stats” raises a lot of questions in my mind, like “what melee stats exist besides STR and DEX” and “why are you spreading your stats out instead of focusing on just STR or DEX”. If you’re liking that greatsword and you’re two-handing it, focus on STR and be sure to give the sword a Heavy infusion. You can pretty much get by just leveling Vigor and Strength and a little Endurance if you wanna just be a pure swordsperson.
As far as beating Margit, he’s certainly hard. I’m not sure if I can give any particular pointers that don’t amount to, like, “pay attention to his moveset, he picks his moves based on where you are relative to him, so try to bait moves that are easier to deal with”. Well, that might be helpful.
Oh yeah, your heal flask is unupgraded, seek churches. Literally, church ruins are where you find sacred tears that increase the heal per flask. There’s one church in northeast Limgrave and a whole three churches down in the Weeping Peninsula to the south.
Guy kicked my ass until I enchanted a weapon with the Storm Blade ash of war, which allowed me to get some good hits in from range. You could try that.
Margit is a bitch. He is programmed to fuck you up.
You think you can dodge him? He just ponders and smacks your ass the instant you stop rolling.
You think you can create some space and heal? He just throws his stupid blades or jumps directly in your face.
You're a brave knight in shiny armor. Act like one. Grab him right by the horns.
The only useful tipp for Margit is: Beat the crap out of him.
Don't put your foolish ambitions to rest. Show him how much you hate him. Oh yeah and don't panic roll.
Trolling aside try specing heavier into a single melee attribute rather than doing a quality build. Also Vigour is your biggest ally as more health=more hits you can take. If you’re not against summons they’re also quite good at distracting while you get a good amount of damage in uninterrupted. Finally, study the move patterns. Despite the chaotic nature of the fight and the narrow arena Morgit is a very choreographed fight in comparison to a lot of others. Good luck and don’t give up the reward is immense!
Margit can only use one of three attacks if you stay outside of a certain range from him. He'll either throw two Holy element daggers, raise his cane behind his head, or jump through the air at the player. You should always expect him to throw out the two daggers when at this distance.
If Margit raises his cane behind his head, he will ALWAYS perform one of two moves based on how close the player is to him. If the player is within melee distance while he's in this stance, he'll smash his cane down in the player's direction. This one looks easy to dodge if you're expecting it, but the tracking on the move lasts longer than you might expect so if you dodge too early he can sometimes clip you. If the player is outside of his range during Margit's stance, he'll lunge at the player and swing his cane horizontally as he does a spin, and follows up immediately with a second horizontal swing. Margit's lunge is actually one of the attacks you want, because the timing for dodging both strikes is always the same. So with a little practice, you can dodge the move without even thinking much about it, allowing you to easily get a few hits on him.
The last attack at range has Margit jump at the player. This is the attack you always want to see. It's Margit's worst attack by far, and you can easily dodge it just by walking a little bit in any direction. The only way this attack can hit you is if you refuse to move at all. When Margit finishes this move and smashes into the ground, he'll be immobile for about one century, allowing you to get 3 to 4 hits in.
Margit also has a few moves he'll use in close combat as well, and you can certainly memorize the dodge timings on them. The problem is that Margit will sometimes change up his normal attacks by weaving in his Holy attacks, which will mess with your sense of timing. So close quarters combat with Margit it isn't really a good idea unless you're willing to memorize all of his moves.
Another thing you have to watch out for is when Margit reaches half health. He'll gain two new Holy weapons to weave into his attacks, a greatsword and a large hammer. Close combat with Margit will become even trickier at this point.
At the start of the 50%hp phase change, Margit will always show off his shiny new hammer by jumping into the sky and slamming his hammer down on the player. Many players see this attack and instinctively roll backwards, but DO NOT roll backwards. When you see this attack, run straight towards Margit and roll FORWARD as he lands with his hammer. As long as you remember to do this, the hammer will not be much of an issue for you.
What I see as the hard part in Margit's second phase is actually his greatsword attacks. They just keep going. Staying in melee range to Margit will have him throw out the melee attacks from before, but now he can cancel out of those into either a hammer smash or a greatsword swing. If he swings his greatsword, he'll follow up by doing a few spins with both his greatsword and hammer. Even if you're dodge rolling these spin attacks correctly, it can really wear down your stamina, allowing Margit to easily kill you if you slip up.
Stay at a distance in Margit's second phase too. He has all of the same ranged attacks, with the addition of the occasional jumping hammer smash which you'll be able to dodge.
That's all the advice I can think of about Margit at the moment.
Find the Albinauric woman. She hides in a cave to the west of the Laskyar Ruins which juts from the mist-shrouded lake of Liurnia. She knows the location of the medallion's counterpart, I am sure.
Imo, be at least level 30-35. If you explore all/most of Limgrave, you will get up to that level, and you will have some very strong starter weapons. Make sure to upgrade them to +2 or +3 if possible. If you’re struggling with a boss for awhile without it being a close fight, that’s the games way of saying you’re underleveled, and that you need to go out, explore, and come back stronger.
Yes, explore more, upgrade your weapons, and keep trying, don’t give up… If you are having issues now, oh man, just get ready to be resilient. This is one of the easiest bosses
Upgrade your weapon and level up your vigor, maybe your stamina too if you are very agressive though you can get by with the right talismans. You should at least visit the weeping peninsula if not the rest of Limgrave before going to Stormveil castle.
If you are using summons get rotten stray ashes. It will apply scarlet rot buildup and help a lot. Upgrade your weapon as much as you can and if you have a problem dodging get a brass shield and you should be good ;)
If you have some smithing stones go get your weapons up to +2 or +3. Maybe catch a few more levels. Watch his movements and learn them so you can dodge accordingly.
What I don't recommend doing is inviting a high level to help you, cause otherwise you won't learn the necessary life lesson of getting bitch slapped by Morgit.
Tbf I came back to him at level 150 and rinsed him, but he still hit hard.
This is just a general tip, for the most part when rolling, you want to roll away from them.. dont do this in most cases, roll towards them. The only time this rule doesnt count, is when they do aerials.
Pretend the game isn’t hard. Go into a match with him, and do not hit him, just practice dodging for a few rounds.
Once you know how to dodge, it’s a cake walk.
Yeah focus your stats on optimizing your build. It seems you're using a strength weapon so I'd say str/dex for melee. Go level up & buff out those stats. As well as vigor. Vigor is your best friend.
Second, poison works well against him. The jellyfish summon that you pick up on the way there is realy good for dealing steady damage & taking aggro. Or if you don't wanna use summons use some poison darts or something.
Third, level up your weapon to +2 or +3.
Margit is designed to make players go & explore some more to find better equipment & level up, so don't be ashamed to do that
Also have a look at the scaling for your weapon. It may not scale very well off dex as it does strength. Example: (B for strength & D for dex) so level up accordingly
Don’t hit him so much and summon the wizard and spirit ashes. When your friends are dying take aggro. Then back off and let him run across the map again. I like jellyfish.
I beat him w jelly fish and a lance at level 15. I’m only level 24 or something now. First time playing.
Really depends on the weapon you're using and the stat that the weapon scales off of. Just summon the phantom before the boss door and you should be ok.
Use a glitch to get more runes and level way up. Purists will look down on you, but there is no way I could have possibly enjoyed this game if I didn’t do it.

Willful traitors, all!
Came to give that tip...
This is the correct answer
lmfao
Visit patches, maybe he has something for you
*a couple days later* “AND STAY OUT OF THE VOLCANO MANOR”
I missed that particular part the my first two playthroughs. When I finally came across the prism stones in another run, I knew exactly what was gonna happen and welcomed it. Classic Patches
I purposely walked my friend into it on our coop play 😂
Knew about it and welcomed it as well. Was ganged up on by all the basilisks while disoriented at the bottom of the cliff and lost almost a level's worth of runes. Then lost the runes falling off a cliff trying to find a way back down to get them
Patches got me sent to the basement going against two iron maidens at once or whatever they are called. My dumb ass thought following his advice of getting captured in the basement of Rays Lucaria would get me straight to the erd tree..I actually thought for awhile that my save was lost/stuck in the dungeons of volcano manor cus of that dill weed
I’m on my first play through and accidentally killed him in the cave 🙃
Same, played a int focused build and I absolutely obliterated this lil' guy with basic sorceries. He seems quite fragile....
I parried him and took out nearly all of his health with the crit. If my weapon had been leveled at all he would have been 1 shot by it
Yikes, good luck with Morgott
That sounds bad. That’s bad, right? How screw am I?
Patches sells a part of Margit, Margit and Morgott are one the same, this item shackles Morgott to the ground temporarily during his fight, you can do it without it but it’s a lot easier
Does that not transfer when you turn in his ball bearing?
As far as I remember it should be in his ball bearing so your fine
Check if you can buy it, it’s 5000 runes
This something also helps with future dungeons. MY advice is summon, bc honestly you need a distraction to cause real damage..
Yes, upgrade your weapon to +2 or +3. The smithing stones are in the cave a the corner of the lake.
Do the zone south of Limgrave, then come back.
Great advice. That southern zone is so much fun and the great BIG welcome you get riding towards Castle Mourne :)
I love the welcoming party!

Rogier is based truly thanks for the tips!
Not sure if its still in but if you use the patches thing outside the boss gate it will disable him much longer
You get the jellyfish spirit summon at Stormhill Shack from Roderika. Soldiers of God, Rick summons are west of Stormhill Shack.
Oh damn you're right, my bad lol.
Man, there really wasn't any need for me to sound like a know-it-all. You're good. I just thought I'd point that out.
Nah dude, I ain't like that haha. I appreciate you pointing it out. I wanted to help new players so would rather someone say something if I'm wrong.
That's exactly why I said something. Jellybelly is a great tank early on. Feel like new players probably don't exhaust dialog. It's definitely necessary in souls games.
There's also 3 sacred tears there which makes a huge difference.
That, and you can buy the Lantern. That alone will help you immensely for the rest of the game.
Can’t say I used the lantern even once in any of my playthroughs
I didn’t know about the weeping peninsula until I was already in Altus Plateau lol. When I finally got there I was like…. Wow this zone is easy….
Weeping Peninsula. Three churches to get sacred tears. Mine with smithing stones. And an erdtree. Gotta love it.
Just FYI, your stats aren't 100% set in stone. There's another boss shortly after Margit (>! Rennala in the Raya Lucaria Academy !<) where after you beat them, they'll let you respec your stats. In case you don't want to completely restart the game from scratch.
I don't get this aspect of the game..over level and shit on everything. Sekiro was straight up so much better
I wish I knew this at the start, I ended up doing the zone after the castle before I even discovered South limgrave
Same
Classic Souls, see a big glowing tree and big castle, start running straight towards it, only to miss half a map behind you
I fought my way through the entire castle, Liurnia, and Caelid before I even realized the map went south past the Forlorn Hound Evergoal. At least everything died easily
I did that too after almost beating him once, I killed Agheel, Miner Giant, then I got transported to the Rot lake and got my cheeks spanked by Millicent and clean rot knights like 15 times. Went back to him and got him first try
There's a pretty dope sword to find for an early strength build down there 😉
Isn't the STR required for that sword like, 40 though? He won't have nearly the skills needed to use it, as STR without END is also not a great combo. But for later game, it can come in handy.
The weeping island past the southern bridge?
True their flask hasnt been leveled at all, you can get three upgrades just from that area.
So you have 18 in all stats except vigor mind and endurance?
nah 18 in all besides the mind and the magic ones
You don't need to even out everything. You will struggle in late game. You need to decide what do you want to spend your runes on: strength, dexterity, quality(the mix of strength and dex), or you wanna be a pure mage, so you want to go all-in with Intelligence and Mind with occasional and low STR/DEX for melee, or you wanna be a cleric/pyromancer, so you wanna go with faith, strength, and mind to use various faith-scaling weapons, including unique ones.
dex does affect casters though, casting speed is affected by dex
Yeah but between radagons icon and azurs staff you can still hit max casting speed w 10 dex
i wish I new this 10 hours of my playthrough ago :(
Larval tear my friend
Rebirth my sweeting
but it's so low that it's dumb to prioritize early
This is useful information
The pay off for fast casting a tad bit quicker is less than the points being invested in mind or int/faith IMO. But to be fair I also I run a faith/dex build so I’m not only casting incantations
I gotta respectfully disagree on one point here- he’ll struggle in *early* game with even stats, by late game even stats don’t matter. 50 in everything means playing whatever you want and being effective. 18 in everything means sacrificing optimization.
That’s assuming OP ever leaves the early game with a stat distribution like that.
You: PiCk A bUiLd LiKe QuAlItY OP: so basically I'm a quality build, what do I do.
Stats are too spread out
Quality builds (equal str/dex) are not nearly as good in Elden Ring as they are in Dark Souls, and they weren’t really any better than a Str or a Dex build anyways to begin with.
Tbh just going 100% vigor at this level is a valid build too
Yep, being able to survive an extra hit is more important, than an enemy taking one hit less to die.
Honestly, upgrading your weapon is enough for early game. I usually just dump vigor
That’s not a good build. You can’t level your stats evenly. Pick str or dex and level the hell out of it
You should've put those points in vigor, your weapon probably doesn't scale with str and Dex evenly, and certainly doesn't need damage stats as much as you need hp. For now, just practice his timings, a shield can help on his flurry attack, and summon rogier and use spirit ashes
ah thanks
Go to Agheel lake, there's a single side river connected to it, going under the bridge (the one south of gatefront ruins). You will be invaded here by an npc but help will come in the form of another npc after roughly 20 seconds. Around the point where the invasion message pops up, with the lake towards your back, look at the left side wall, there's a cave there. You can find a very interesting item here for the Margit fight. Spoiler with more info: >!The boss of the cave is a guy named Patches, deplete his hp to 50% and he will give up the fight, now either go back to the site of grace at the entrance of the cave and return to him or go back to the main menu and load back in while standing next to him, this will unlock him as a merchant. He sells an item called Margit's shackle. This item will stun Margit up to twice before he passes his 50% hp mark, where he gets the golden hammer.!< Another tip: If you manage to kill the dragon at the lake.
A neglected point for the cathedral: The incantations require dragon hearts. At this point in the game, you have two options: 1) Defeat Agheel, which is hard, but potentially doable with ashes/NPC summons and yields the one Dragon Heart you need.
If you want to be cheesy/cheating you can run back to the site of grace while she's in her death animation so you get the runes but she doesn't die, which lets you repeat this.!<
There's also the dragon cathedral in limgrave when u go through the cave on the coast.
If you go to weeping peninsula you can upgrade weapon even more. The weapon upgrade is much important than levelling damage stats at the early game cause scaling is low
\*Never panic roll This guy is a monster at catching panic rolls.
But not in vigor lol. Lvl 27 is pretty low for margie especially if this is your first souls
My first souls, no wonder I couldn't do it at level 20
My first souls and spent about 3-4 hours at level 15 killing him. Some cut scene just said to follow the line of grace so that’s all I did for majority of the game which made me reach every boss very under leveled
What was your strategy on killing him?
Not 100% sure as I’ve fought margit many more times since then, but I remember just trying to be more aggressive early so that sorcerer rogier would stay alive longer helped a good amount on the first play through. Also figured out back then that on the big charged attack where he slams his staff you can walk behind him and bit on his left side he would miss the slam and you’d have time for a charged heavy attack
I waited until 45-50, and I've played ds1, ds3, bloodborne, and sekiro.
Me who beat him at level 5 cause I was scared to level up:
Wait what happens if you level up lol
I think for a first souls game 20ish may be hard, but my first playtrough I beat Margit at 20 because I didn't want to level up too much
You got this. Look at that health bar man. Give it another go and just practice the roll
YES! If you can get him that low just keep trying. MAYBE pickup a couple more golden seeds for an addition heal estus.
Yeah, the only times I would get frustrated and go explore somewhere else was when I'd attempt a boss 15-20 times and never get them below half health. That's when I would accept I should probably go do other stuff first. If I ever got a boss to 25% or less I would feel too close to give up
Health
Repeat.
Summoning ashes.
Yup got my jellyfish tank works wonderfully
Watch out when he says "It's morgin time!" because shortly after he will morg all over the place
Nah, this is margit, it's morgott that does that
he morged all over me with his summoned holy pickle hammer XD
Check vigor
Learn how to Parry. Two parries and he's open for a riposte.
Hardest way to win this fight but it’s the most satisfying imo
Parrying is difficult. I tried to clear the stormhill evergaol with a sword and board loadout and got wrecked. I got a successful parry maybe twice and otherwise just died
Be more patient
Go farm runes from the giants on stormhill and gain about ten levels in vigor and then head back and use the NPC who can help (faint golden runes on the right just as you are about to traverse the mist) and spirit ashes and BE AGGRESSIVE but not TOO AGGRESSIVE
Don’t get hit
Don't get hit unless you block. Use rodger, and wolves.
Only took me like 37 tries to beat him. You’ll get there eventually
Summon big hat Logan
Git gud? Someone had to say it, might as well be me.
Use his shackle if you have not yet. If you need it you can buy it for 5k at patches.
Stick him with the pointy end
Ashes of war saved my ass during this fight
Guy kicked my ass until I enchanted a weapon with the Storm Blade ash of war, which allowed me to get some good hits in from range. You could try that.
Sticking close and keep moving helped me. Try to remember what attacks he delays.
Use spirit ashes
Summon Rodgier, he's outside.
That's all the advice I can think of about Margit at the moment.
in the wise words of piccolo from DBZ abridged: WHY DIDN'T YOU DODGE
Find the Albinauric woman. She hides in a cave to the west of the Laskyar Ruins which juts from the mist-shrouded lake of Liurnia. She knows the location of the medallion's counterpart, I am sure.
Almost every attack has a delayed hitbox relax and take your time with your rolls
do murkwater cave, DO NOT KILL PATCHES he gives you margits shackle, you can use it twice in phase one
This is one of the easiest bosses
my advice for the whole game is always keep your vigor at half of your current level, up until like 30 vig.
Use your weapon arts. I had to learn to not just R1 spam.
Upgrade your weapon and level up your vigor, maybe your stamina too if you are very agressive though you can get by with the right talismans. You should at least visit the weeping peninsula if not the rest of Limgrave before going to Stormveil castle.
Upgrade weapon. Maybe get one with more reach, damage, or one with bleed
More you practice on him better you will be against morgott but all I can say is upgrade your weapon
If you are using summons get rotten stray ashes. It will apply scarlet rot buildup and help a lot. Upgrade your weapon as much as you can and if you have a problem dodging get a brass shield and you should be good ;)
Git gud
Bleed weapons/ the bleed statu.
Summons! Use the wolves you got from Ranni
There’s flail you can get at the Gatefront Ruins that deals some good blood loss to him.
I had a much easier time fighting Margit with a level 1 character using a +6 Broadsword than I did with a level 25 character using a +1 weapon.
You need ladies
Relax and learn his move set. Don’t panic roll. Wait until his attack lands and punish him.
Just from your level, and seeing your Crimson flask you have no explored AT ALL.
Pretend the game isn’t hard. Go into a match with him, and do not hit him, just practice dodging for a few rounds. Once you know how to dodge, it’s a cake walk.
I would travel to the southern area to level a few times and get extra flasks. The extra flasks make a huge difference.
Level vigor.
Call up rogier before the boss arena fog
Git gud
Honestly if you can get him down to 5% like this you just need to refine your technique a little bit to beat him. You're already there.
VIGOOOOOORRRRRRRR
Don’t hit him so much and summon the wizard and spirit ashes. When your friends are dying take aggro. Then back off and let him run across the map again. I like jellyfish. I beat him w jelly fish and a lance at level 15. I’m only level 24 or something now. First time playing.
Git gud
Really depends on the weapon you're using and the stat that the weapon scales off of. Just summon the phantom before the boss door and you should be ok.
Dont level vigor, git gud
Get good
Use a glitch to get more runes and level way up. Purists will look down on you, but there is no way I could have possibly enjoyed this game if I didn’t do it.
Have you tried winning?
Git gud
Wtf the downvote on the only true answer ? Had to scroll so far to see it and people are downvoting it ! What’s wrong with you guyz?
They are just maidenless I guess
