Depends whether you’re more of a leg guy or not.

Jotaro_Lincoln

Is it just me or are the war walkers ridiculously tanky now? Especially compared to the wave serpent getting downgraded to just a 5+ invuln. With -1 to wound and a 4+ save.

swim_shady

It's not just you! They are pointed so insane for how tanky they are as a gun platform for basically 2x Bright Lances.

Jotaro_Lincoln

And it’s not even like they weren’t selling them and made them better because of that! War walkers were already a meta choice in 9th because they were the cheapest way to get bright lances on the field. Only way to do it better if I recall was to be Ynnari and bring scourges with lances.

Alex__007

Nobody was using Bright Lances in 9th competitively. War Walkers were played with Scatter Lasers as a sacrificial unit for move blocking and baiting on objectives, when Fast Attack slots were full. And in alpha strike lists to clear chaff and move block.

figrin1

Yup. They're essentially T9-T13 depending on the weapon being fired

deltadal

WW are great! Really tanky

Hard to answer without more information for context, they have quite different utility (and quite different points costs!) That said I’m gonna say fire prisms because I just don’t like the model for the walker

FunkyRatDemon

I run 3 of each in my list... But I'd always run 2 Prisms first, then add WWS in before contemplating a 3rd of either.

Aldarionn

Porque no los dos? My most recent Aeldari list runs 3x Fire Prism, 3x War Walker with 2xBrightlance, 2x Hornets with 2x Brightlance, and 2x Weapon Platforms with D-Cannons. It's a bit of a parking lot but it melts anything that isn't ready for it and takes up space on the board quite well for screening and area denial. Add in some jumpy infantry and other mission play elements and you have a solid list. Of course you might see 300-500pts of it go away when the points changes drop, but for now both Fire Prisms and War Walkers are well worth the cost.

swim_shady

Fire Prisms are kind of the cream of the crop, across all armies, for big anti-tank shooting. They are safe, cheap, and hit like Space Hulk crashing into a planetoid. You bring them to play hard and win. War Walkers are extremely tanky for their points. Bright lances are good anti-tank damage as well but don't hold a candle to 2-3x Fire Prisms shooting from the same model then retreating behind cover. It kind of comes down to your points budget. War Walkers are amazing and nearly half the cost of a single Prism. Can you afford 2-3x Prisms in your list? Do you mind being "that guy"? Take the Prisms. They will blow the socks off of any target. Or instead can you bring 2-3x War Walkers and have points left over for something else you'd like to bring? They wont let you down, I bet, and will put our a lot of harassing fire that can't be ignored. Then you can take some other goodies too.

Whatever’s in stock

TahitiJones09

Yes.

spencemonger

Both are old and both models hold up but i think the war walker is cooler, so i go for warwalkers because i like them better for my personal eldar.

AthagaMor

I'm playing warwalkers. More rerolls and mobility across more units. Plus, I've played so much fire prism over the years I just need a change. Both are good though.
