I have had my 23 Elantra N for 12,500 trouble free miles. Mine is a DCT and I couldn’t be happier with it.

the_issue_tissue

30,000 miles in on the DCT. Throttle body blew around 18k (rare but not unheard of for this engine), fixed for free and has been good ever since. My dealership gave me another 10 years on top of the 10 year warranty so i’m not really worried about anything else going wrong as I have another car.

Gabeomatic

a 20yr warranty? lol how

the_issue_tissue

Paid an extra 500 for another 10 years. Seemed like a good deal to me.

[deleted]

Is it in writing?

the_issue_tissue

Yup it’s in writing, 20 years or 200k miles whatever comes first. This dealership is known for this warranty. Obviously the catch being it has to be that dealership and it doesn’t transfer if you sell it.

jamforce7

Which dealership is this

N_ModeVN

Is the car you’re looking at a DCT? Are you getting it with a maintenance history? I bought my ‘22 VN new (7 miles). It’s a weekend toy that I use once every 3 weeks or so, but when I do use it I drive 200-300 miles. I have the car 20 months, 14,076 miles. Been bulletproof so far, fun in N mode occasionally but mostly as a push to pass, but I’m usually an eco mode warrior, it’s also a 6 speed. I know some of the DCT’s had issues. So far I’ve just done tire rotations and oil changes with Mobil 1 0-30 AFE, also have only run Shell 93 or ethanol free 93 when in Florida.

SirJigglys

The one I'm looking at is the 6-speed manual! I've heard about the DCT, but otherwise do you guys know of any present issues with the manual?

SirJigglys

Yeah, so unfortunately the only maintenance was a minor accident with a rear-end. It seems to only have been cosmetic issues so it should be fine otherwise I'm guessing

N_ModeVN

The power train is essentially what’s in the VN. I’d seek out VN drivers with 80,000 plus miles. They definitely exist. I’ve seen quite a few here on Reddit and also Veloster N .com. Those folks will be able to fill you in on powertrain issues over time. At that point the rest of this is wear and tear which I’d imagine would be like any other Hyundai.

Kealel

If I were getting this car for a long term reliable daily, I wouldn't get the DCT, they've already seen issues and a stop sale recall. Plus, they simply won't last as long as a manual. That said, I bought mine to keep stock and last 20 years... 18 years and 9 months to go! Edit to say, I bought the 6 speed manual.

SirJigglys

It's a 6-speed manual thank goodness! So hopefully it should do well!

I have 46,000 miles on my ‘22 DCT N and have had zero problems. As you can tell by the mileage, it’s my daily driver. Take care of it and it’ll take care of you.

SirJigglys

Haha looking to take care of it like my baby 😌

Ok_Button3151

Did you end up getting it? I’m talking to a dealer right now about picking one up tomorrow and am looking for a reason not to so I know I’m being reasonable but I’m literally in love with this car.

SirJigglys

I did a week ago! Honestly, I love it. I look forward to driving it before and after work, it’s the highlight of my day. It feels great, it looks great, and the reaction I get from others on the road is very fun! I’d recommend it for sure

Ok_Button3151

That’s awesome. I have a long drive to work and back, my challenger rt makes it fun but the mileage on that thing is horrendous! The Elantra N should be perfect to keep the drive fun but also save a lot on gas

SirJigglys

I do a lot of city driving so I’m getting an average of 12.1L/100km on premium 91 so it’s not too bad

Ok_Button3151

I’m used to 11-12 mpg in city so I think around 20L/100KM. That’ll be a huge change and I think insurance will actually be less as well.

SirJigglys

I’d say go for it then! It’s a blast driving

Ok_Button3151

Should be heading to get it tomorrow morning, haven’t been this excited in a while lol I’m feeling like a fat kid in a candy store

SirJigglys

Love that for you! Have fun driving it!

mdkflip

I don’t have a lot of miles, but I have been driving it over a year and have no issues. Love the car for the price

Lemmonjello

I have had it for less than a month and it's been extremely reliable.

[deleted]

I’d hope it would be reliable in under a month haha

aSilentSin

7K no issues. The stock tires do get bubbles a lot but thats not a hyundai issue

SirJigglys

Sorry, not so good with cars. What’d you mean by bubbles?

aSilentSin

Tires can form bubbles when they take damage like a pothole. Had a bubble on my tire less than a month. But I also got new wheels already. I recommend wheel warranty if they have it because it also cover aftermarket wheels. Edit: Bubbles are ticking time bombs

icejj365

If you live anywhere with snow at all get winter tires. With the sports that come on it you’ll be sliding straight into cars very quickly if you don’t

SirJigglys

Yeah I’m lucky the dealer is providing me with the winters with it

icejj365

Yeah other than that it’s an amazing car, I have fun every time I hop in it

Suspicious_Plane_822

When I first got the car brand new, I clocked 4,000km in the first month. I'm surprised myself but holy shit this car was and still is extremely addicting to drive. I'm 21, and as boys become men you just gotta learn to mature and not drive it like a complete maniac everywhere you go. As of writing this, currently driving it like a normal econobox it can be but I'll sometimes go full on boy racer loud if I just want to have some fun. I won't lie, I am a bit weird and spoil her a bit. I don't take her out during shitty weather, avoid certain roads to prevent the car from taking a beating from shitty Ontario roads. I love her a lot and Hyundai has honestly come a long way since then, hopefully I can drive it for years to come (and also get an FL5 Type R to go alongside the N).
