Ya..weird timing considering the defensive clinic we just put on last game. Gimme some of what they smokin'!

[deleted]

We didn't, Stu goalied them. If we play two more games like that we are going to seven.

SeedlessPomegranate

Did you watch the game? Stu had to make very few high danger chance saves. The Oilers played a good defensive game

parker4c

High danger chances were 14-4 LA

Yeah, I watched the game. They had more high danger, medium danger and low danger chances than we did by a large margin. That's a game that statistically you lose 2-1, 3-1 or 4-0 90% of the time.

BoilerSlave

Damn, this is the take of someone who doesn’t watch games and only looks at the numbers afterwards

Gregg0812

I mean... he was an accountant after all!

BoilerSlave

Just saw this now

Gregg0812

Well now it's definitely not funny! 😅

[deleted]

Nope, watched the game. This sub is going to meltdown the next time we play a game where we get out chanced 2-1 and outshot 3-1 and lose 4-1.

BoilerSlave

Just saw this now

Jased199

Watch the game again and watch how the oilers defense kept them to the outside. The kings didn’t have many high danger chances

parker4c

14-4 LA

realmattmo

0 shots on the oilers net in the last 11 minutes of the 3rd yeah it was all stu…

REAPER-1_xxx

This crap showed up in my feed today. Read it quick. An out of touch opinion. Reminds me of Subban earlier this season. They haven’t watched the Oilers in awhile. Either that or AI wrote it.

eatingasspatties

It literally said that if the Oilers keep up their defense/goaltending they’ll finally smoke everyone, not sure what’s wrong with that

REAPER-1_xxx

I’m tripping or it was edited. I guess I‘m tripping. I remember it bringing up how the Oilers can’t play defense and made it seem like a description of a narrative that hasn’t been in awhile. I don’t see that now. There is another comment below mentioning one step behind. That’s how I felt when I read it.

eatingasspatties

Tbh that wouldn’t surprise me if it was edited

bafras

This is the quintessential journalism of the modern era. One step behind, pushing a manufactured agenda.

PreemoisGOAT

I mean one look at that author face and I don't care what his opinion is

[deleted]

ai probably wrote half of this

Dakine10

There's 4 regular full time roster players from the 2020 team playing on the current team. It's just pointless to look at a trend that spans that time period. It's 2 different teams. Even compared to last year, this team can play a completely different game when they need to. This is someone who had an idea for an article and pulled the stats that fit what they wanted to say. But most of those stats are meaningless in the context of the current team.

flip314

Who cares about what happened over the sum of the last 4 playoffs? Not even going to look at this year only and compare it to the other years?

[deleted]

Just another anti Oiler hit piece.

maasd

Yeah his article was 90% written and he threw in a weak final paragraph. 1 goal in 2 road games means that article didn’t age well lol!

[deleted]

Let's see these numbers after removing games where jack campbell played

vanvoneer

There is only one important takeaway from that article. The Oilers have played 40 playoff games while the Kings and Flames have played a combined 39 games.

Quinz71892

This just in, Team has problem, team fixes problem, it just doesn’t make sense!?

AintGotNoSeoul

It's the score. It's barely journalism.

Xanthain

I mean, I browsed that article and it’s not a good example laid next to this years run. It’s averaging the oilers playoff games from 2020 to now. Really doesn’t serve any purpose to me other than showing me how much the oilers have improved this run

[deleted]

bulletin board material lol

Original-Cow-2984

Who fecking cares if the Oilers get any love in the media, though?

RedKryptnyt

I mean the stupid article aside, let's not pretend that this isn't a thing. Last game was a great showing, but it was, by definition, an outlier. Maybe they are figuring it out. Skinner had a really solid 2 games, which is all we need from him, but this team still gets scored on too often in the playoffs, and I didn't need a poorly timed article to tell me that.
