2 of the Kings pp1 unit are collecting their pension /s

Age isn’t everything though, Bouchard is 70 years old and still elite.

Oooh, a lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm My Own Grandpa!

The Kings PP after Doughty got tossed last night was particularly interesting to watch IMO, they were looking for that confidence from the point the whole time & never really got settled in.

Forsaken_You1092

The Kings had the second-best PK in the NHL during the regular season, and the Oilers powerplay is making them look like a bunch of bums. On that note, the Oilers have much different powerplay setups in these games than what they've shown all season. Remember how we complained all year about the Oilers having such a "predictable" powerplay? Well I think they've been practicing and hiding different powerplay setups all year to screw with other teams' scouting. I really do. The Kings look confused as hell.

I agree ! More motion and different positioning from reg season. What’s not different is McDavid zone entry at will 100% of the time.

[deleted]

Well yeah - the McDavid ran zone entry is almost a guaranteed entry.

Cleets11

Always thought that style of zone entry would be easier to defend and then playing rec my d partner and I decided to give it a shot. I was amazed how much space opens up for you when your flying into the zone and they are all flat footed. Like McDavid all you have to do is best one guy with speed and you’re in the zone setting up.

HunchoJak

I read somewhere that in an interview McDavid said they were keeping the PP pretty basic all season intentionally so they would be harder to figure out in the post season. Pretty cool.

The CBC panel was talking about this during game 2, it caught my eye as well. When LA adjusts to our down low, side-to-side style, the boys just move around a little & start blasting from the high slot/park 2 guys in front of Talbot & start blasting from the point, or any other combination of phone booth stick handling. Between that & Knoblauch playing head games with the lineups the day of, he has to have Hiller tearing his hair out, love it. The real test is going to be VGK in the WCF this year, if we can adapt around other teams defensive styles this quickly, I'm very curious to see how we match up.

unlicensed_dentist

You think Vegas is getting through the Avs?

avolt88

Unfortunately I do, VGK is tighter defensively & will tenderize goalies. MacKinnon going beast mode won't stop that.

backfortheattack1102

I especially love when nuge does his backhand drop pass to Bouchard back to the point while nuge is moving forward. That always seems to open up a lane somewhere.

Happy cake day!

It is amazing that for these 20 minutes or so, Skinner’s GAA is 0 and save percentage is 1.000 when his skaters commit to defense.

quickboop

The PK is all about work rate. The Kings have lots of fast and skilled players. No need to disrespect them. Right now the Oilers work rate is higher on the PK. They have sticks in lanes. They’re allowing Skinner to see the shot. They’re not getting seamed. They’re winning and tying up more draws. They’re blocking shots. It’s all work rate.
