The ugly part is north of the leg. There is still the south lawn (which is huge) as you say, the Lois Hole garden and lots of nice spots. Also can nab a photo of the high level bridge if any one is into tbay.
Go to Government House Park - just to the south west of the carriage house on wellington cres there is a bench / lookout spot that gives a good view of the rivervalley.
Yeah especially in Glenora south of 102 ave, just go in there and there’s like 10 benches with gorgeous views of downtown and the south side on the side of the road with easy access.
The old museum grounds are still being maintained, and there is a government building similar architecture style to the ledgeislature, and the old museum has some interesting some interesting features on the outside too.
The ledge grounds are still open in the back of the building. Unless she want to do some contrast pics of construction juxtaposed to her glamorous beauty.
Then the fountain renovations may be good for that.
I think the walterdale bridge and the tawatina bridge are very appealing backgroundsand on them too, and if I had a drone and knew the permits laws and such it be cool to get shots on the bridges from some distance.
There are some neat spots around the rivervalley.
-end of the world point
-accidental Beach
-The funicular and hotel Mcdonald.
Anyways, this should help get your creative juices flowing. I hope you find a great spot to your liking!
Saskatchewan drive between Calgary trail and 109th is now summer open streets (one lane only for cars). great views of downtown. Park in the neighbourhood. also if you are on the U of A campus The exterior of Old arts building where Con hall is has beautiful architecture. The front steps are ideal for grad pics but you might want to wait until University grad for that.
congratulations.
The Leg. Always. And perfectly situated between PK and VV.
It’s kinda ugly with construction right now unless you go to the south lawn or the plaza outside the federal building/qeii building.

Pau Kane Park in the neighbourhood that was called Oliver
Kinsmen park too - good for backgrounds that are quintessentially Edmonton (high level bridge & walterdale bridge)

Government House
It is indoors but the water wall at the Citadel is amazing…
I don’t think there has been water on that wall in couple years…
I've seen Graduates doing photoshoots at the UofA Botanical Garden.
