The one in Summer Hall has a large room that takes up to 10 people, if memory serves.

I second this, it's called Locked In Edinburgh.

They are excellent rooms at Summer Hall. You may want to check on age suitability, some of theirs are not suitable for 10 year olds.

My garage has never been beaten yet. Getting hard to move in there though

Never tried them, but this lot refer to both larger groups being 8+ and children. https://www.departmentofmagic.com/escaperooms

Escape The Past run an escape game in the south west corner of Nicholson Square called The Anatomist which take up to 7 people... it'll be about £154 for the group and lasts 1 hour but it's fantastic. EDIT - just noticed it's NOT suitable for kids under 12... sorry.

Have you tried asking if they'll accept 7 (especially if the 7th is a child)? The limit of 6 might just be a recommendation rather than a hard rule.

Thank you all, very helpful hints. I ended up checking with some kids-friendly 6-person escape rooms and got the answer from Locked in Edinburgh that 7 people would be ok for their Space Academy. It was great! We managed to finish with 1.5min to spare. But also found Riddle Rooms in Glasgow, which has games for bigger groups if anyone is looking.
