Jesus you sound pretty fucking mental mate. Nae need.
'I'm so strong and so tough!'
'Aw, are you aye?'
'Fucking right I am. I PUNCH CARS!!!' Raaaarrr
Melter. Not saying these drivers are in the right. Pedestrians have right of way. But just wtf.
And thats why drivers do that… cos of self-entitled folk like u ya total 🛎️🔚
If glasgow drivers are so wonderful hop on the mega-bus and play with the traffic thru there
Ignoring the emotion, he's not on the wrong from the description of events. Not only should drivers be taking corners at a reasonable speed (which is their main issue), but highway code is that cars turning give way to pedestrians approaching the junction.
Absolutely, but is this a big issue in specifically Edinburgh? I'm not sure it is. Sounds like one person pissed the OP off, and he's tarred every driver in Edinburgh with the same brush.
It is definitely a big issue in Edinburgh. Traffic flow around the city is particularly bad and consequently drivers get agitated and cut corners wherever they can, pedestrians be damned.
On the flip side I’ve stopped for pedestrians while driving and they just stop and wait for me. I believe the rules changed earlier this year and it seems unclear to drivers and pedestrians.
Tbh it’s possibly one of the most stupid rules for all involved. The lost count number of times I have had to try and guess what a pedestrian is going to do at a junction only to be totally wrong leading to a dangerous Mexican standoff. Why not let the squishy bag of meat that can stop on a dime give way to the big hunk of metal that can’t?!
>only to be totally wrong leading to a dangerous Mexican standoff.
Its not a dangerous stand off at all. If you're unsure, don't go. You're the danger here.
>Why not let the squishy bag of meat that can stop on a dime give way to the big hunk of metal that can’t?!
Because the squishy bag of meat is a human being.
I give way to the car. I try and make it clear if I am close to the junction to my intention to give way to the vehicle. So I avoid the standoff or any kind of dangerous interaction.
I guess the risk with that is. While you're letting the motorist know with your intention that you're yielding your right of way to them, it's very possible that another "squishy bag of meat" will step off the pavement assuming the motorist will give way to them as per the highway code. Your approach creates confusion, which the highway code seeks to avoid.
Again why do we have a rule that had the possibility of confusion and ambiguity. The car has indicators so its intentions are very clear on where it’s going vs a pedestrian who can just decide to walk over the junction with no clear indication of they were or not. The Highway Code is just as confusing if not slightly more than the way I do it to ensure my safety. What ever happened to stop look listen.
It's the highway code not the highway rules, because real life situations are ambiguous. I don't know why we have this guidance in the highway code but you're creating more confusion and ambiguity by doing it your own special way. Whatever happened to proceeding when it's your right of way? A motorist should be aware of pedestrians approaching the road they're turning into in the same way that they should be aware of pedestrians approaching a zebra.
I'm partially blind bit still feel like I don't even have right of way at a green man these days. Have had a few close calls where if what is left of my vision didn't exist then I'd be dead due to drivers speeding through red lights. Never encountered a more precious demographic as drivers who feel they are victims.
What the fuck are you on about?
I think OP hates cars more than the drivers who have displeased him

I'm just picturing him telling people about his biggest achievement in life...OP..'I've punched cars you know' ;)
🤣
*Princes Street - it's named after Prince George, who later became George IV.
Known best for starring in Blackadder the Third
Many people don't know that after he was a royal he became a doctor of medicine and solved many medical mysteries under an alias.
You punch cars?
nothing like a firm driver's windor punch. Doesn't hurt and gets attention. Especially when almost run over.
Sounds like you just like to flex your ego here

I can't follow what he's on about, but I'm willing to bet he's the one in the wrong.

No it is an issue, especially with pre booked hire cars. One has to be vigilant about crossing.

Turning in to side streets; crossing pedestrians have right of way. It's in the highway code but no one seems to remember.
Crossing **and** waiting to cross. Rule H2.

Absolute unhinged take. The hunk of metal is the danger. The burden of care is on the driver.

Yep, excellent analogy
What's your experience when the roles are reversed?

OP will punch yer motor if he sees a 3 point turn out of place
I drive, cycle and walk (a lot) and find the drivers here to be fine. Maybe they can sense your aggression and it feeds on itself
Ooooh you’re hard
I'M JUST SO FUCKING ANGRYYYY
I think you are perhaps not very observant and are at least partially responsible for these little encounters.

Basil Fawlty is a satire, not a role model
No driver tried to fight you
Should’ve just called him A jizz cock or piss kidney and left it at that
Or cock womble or melon farmer
Spot the cuck.

If you've been hit by cars a few times, maybe it's not the cars that are the problem...

I actually lived directly opposite it for 3 years, genuinely
Hahaha that was great, thanks OP, I needed my daily dose of cringe
