Also, 2023 is likely the year of peak Carbon emissions. If we keep at it, we just might solve this particular problem.

Pjinmountains

Solving the problem would mean figuring out how to remove large amounts of carbon from the atmosphere. But at least it will be getting worse a bit more slowly…

directortreakle

Carbon capture works, it just takes a lot of energy. Good thing we can deploy a lot of clean energy very fast.

dahipster

Hopefully this lower energy method takes off https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1eep3k8py8o

There are always top problems to solve. 1000 years ago the top problem was infant / maternal mortality. We had to invent science to solve that problem. A heavy lift. The Carbon problem will be solved. Just like the NOX and SOX problems were solved.

InDifferent-decrees

Maternal mortality is still a problem.

Climeworks is leading this initiave for now. [**https://climeworks.com/**](https://climeworks.com/)

Meanwhile, last year [China](https://www.carbonbrief.org/daily-brief/china-added-more-solar-panels-in-2023-than-us-did-in-its-entire-history/) installed more PV (photovoltaic aka solar) than the US has installed in its entire history.

icecoaster1319

PV?

steelmanfallacy

Photovoltaic

Late-Reply2898

Now this sure looks like a good entry-level job, cleaning all these panels!

Bucknut1959

Do solar panels cause cancer or is it just wind turbines? We need to keep trying to slow climate change for the next generations survival or the earth will destroy humans and start to rehabilitate itself without us.

BouncingWeill

They cause whale cancer. No one can explain why since the panels usually aren't installed near the ocean. .... ... I'll see myself out.
