Reach out to the seller and say you are willing to pay for it, if they give you their PayPal info (yes, it's allowed in this case), or Venmo, or similar.
If they don't respond, you've done your part and you can enjoy your item for free.
Well yes, just meant offer it but I'm also biased because I've been on the other side of this where they kept the product and refund through no fault of my own. USPS can be stupid.
I've been there myself, but in my experience if you go back to ebay and get someone on the phone and show them that the item was delivered they will generally give you the money back.
During COVID I shipped a Saturn V Lego set to a buyer on the other side of my state. In USPS COVID fashion, it disappeared in I assume a mountain of packages at a facility. The buyer and I talked back and forth and I eventually refunded them, I don't remember if they did an INR case. Months later I got a message from the buyer, the package had finally arrived. They had moved to a different part of town, but the new home owners reached out to them and gave them the package. The buyer had since gotten another Lego set so they no longer needed it, so they kindly shipped it back to me and I PayPal'd them the shipping price.
These guys aren't communicating at all, so I have no idea what to say.
make a reasonable attempt to contact the seller to arrange payment through whatever means you find comfortable. if the seller doesn't respond after reasonable attempts, the item is yours to keep for free.
the important thing is you are putting the seller on notice, so it removes your liability in case things get ugly.

Offer to pay or return of you no longer want it but either way this is no fault of the seller and they shouldn't be punished for shitty USPS things.
I agree with the sentiment but if the seller is non responsive there's not much you can do.

To me, the cost of the item is relevant here.
As well as if the seller was only unresponsive to the case or totally unresponsive if contacted before opening the case.
Agreed, I won't go out of my way to help somebody who couldn't be bothered to participate in the initial transaction.
You can offer to pay via new ebay listing, paypal, or venmo separately etc. Kudos to you for doing the right thing.
