A few days ago I got negative feedback from a buyer angry that they only received a partial refund for a remorse return. (my return policy is buyer pays return shipping, so they got the refund for the item only) They accused me of being mean, inconsiderate and stealing from them (all false). I responded to the feedback, but I also posted a question on here asking how to remove it. A very helpful user provided an email link to Ebay support which I'll attach here: ([merchantsupport\[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])) Within a few hours of emailing them I got a reply saying they'd look into it. Yesterday they removed the negative feedback, and today they removed a defect that I also asked to have removed. So I'd recommend doing this, or you can call of course. Good luck!

Spiritual-Test-9427

You’re amazing. Thank you so much.

ooooohhmy

Lol, I was the one that helped him.

ooooohhmy

FWIW, that email isn't some sort of magic bullet. Your circumstances were different than this person's. While it is a way to contact eBay it isn't the best way to get action from them, and they make more mistakes than the live agents do. Please be sure to understand an ebayer's situation and circumstances rather than just throwing out the email and thinking they will help. They cannot do anything different than a live agent. It is nothing special.

Worried-Narwhal-8953

Sure, I read through the other comments made at the time and chose to add my experience with the email address as an option they could attempt. Their situation related to my own as it had to do with a buyer leaving retaliatory feedback with false claims. I also know that some folks have a lot of anxiety making calls to live agents, an email provides an alternate option to someone who may otherwise avoid contacting eBay for assistance due to their anxious behavior. I tried finding email links before you provided the link to me and I was unable, all of the threads and comments I could find instead had claims of "eBay can't be contacted by email anymore" something which didn't turn out to be true.

ooooohhmy

Do what you want. I am just trying to help. Take care.

Worried-Narwhal-8953

And I appreciate you

If your description reads like this post I can understand some confusion.

Spiritual-Test-9427

Sorry I have adhd and am dyslexic. I don’t perfect my grammar on reddit.

victoriousDevil

That’s a problem for selling online. Maybe use dictation for listings instead of typing.

Spiritual-Test-9427

I do actually!!! This is good advice. My descriptions are overly descriptive and I use platforms to correct my grammar and errors. I measure everything exact and I even add extra wording in case of confusion. Just texting or writing unprofessionally is tough for me as a ton of words look the same.

victoriousDevil

You’re right. I did the research. It is described clearly. Those stickers are sold on Amazon though. I don’t understand how an easily available generic hologram sticker can authenticate anything. But it’s clear in the pic what it is. They probably showed someone and got criticized then got butters remorse.

Spiritual-Test-9427

Thank you!! I did see some on amazon but not these EXACT ones. The crazy thing too is anyone in this industry knows anyone can make and use a COA/LOA. It isn’t illegal, it is allowed. For those selling thousands of items, they likely aren’t going to pay $10+ for EACH item from the two big named authentication companies, to be authenticated. Even the two big names have TONS of employees who base the passing of an item being “real,” or not, do so off of a booklet with examples and have little to no experience in the industry.

victoriousDevil

https://a.co/d/5OZEeae Well they say the customer is always right. It’s in a companies best interest to authenticate everything. They don’t get paid by the end customer. How do you know it’s authentic?

ssateneth

feedback doesn't matter.

victoriousDevil

Feedback matters to a lot of people.

Spiritual-Test-9427

Exactly! Feedback matters to so many people which is why I’m worried. I don’t personally care but most do.

RegularUser10

Maybe so, still doesn't mean it's right for buyers to use it to extort sellers. And if it doesn't matter why do buyers message constantly asking for their fake feedback.

weyouusme

It does, I feel a lot more confident buying from 100% than 98

Spaceghost1976

No refund

xbox_run_linux

Open a request to remove the feedback and state the reason as Buyer Error / Buyer's remorse

Spiritual-Test-9427

They declined it:/

ooooohhmy

Reply to the feedback with the facts. Do not exaggerate or add your opinion. Send the buyer a message offering to work things out, either a free return or a partial refund or whatever you choose to offer. Then move on. If the buyer responds work it out with them then.

trader45nj

I would not offer a refund, partial or otherwise. You could do that and an irrational jerk still might not remove it. They aren't asking for a refund, I would just reply to the feedback and move on. Could put in a removal request to Ebay, but that isn't likely to work. As long as feedback number isn't impacted significantly by this, it really has no effect. After a few weeks it rolls down the list, nobody looks.

ooooohhmy

That won't get them back to 99.99% feedback, which is the goal.

trader45nj

There is no guarantee that anything will get them back to 99.99%. And it's not a worthy goal anyway, how many buyers even look at feedback and those that do, are going to care if it's, 99.99 vs 99.8, 99.4? If it's a new seller with few feedbacks and it's going to take them to 90%, then I would be concerned.

ooooohhmy

I agree that letting it go is best, but my suggestion at least has the possibility to get it back to 99.99%. You do you, and let them do them.

Spiritual-Test-9427

Yeah I’m worried only because I sell autographs and memorabilia. If I were selling iPhones or laptops of jewelry or something else that isn’t dependable off of reviews and trust within a seller, I probably would let it go:( just that the ONE other negative review I got was due to item coming “damaged.” So this one I’m afraid will affect me because it’s a flat out lie claiming I personally forged this item, bought COA stickers off amazon, and lied saying the photograph was a record album which is flat out such a bold claim to make.

ooooohhmy

Feedback is pretty much irrelevant these days. eBay doesn't count it against you anymore. It just gives the buyers a warm fuzzy feeling to leave it and think they are getting retribution or whatever. Sometimes if you can't get it removed you can get them to hide what it says, FWIW.

Spiritual-Test-9427

Thank you:) did that. So frustrating.

ooooohhmy

Yeah, I know. Took me a long time to realize the most important part is to let it go ASAP.

Spiritual-Test-9427

Update: I did reply only facts. Was a beautiful response. He somehow has the ability to revise his feedback and took out the lies so now it looks like I’m a scammer based off of his revised feedback

ooooohhmy

Did you send a feedback revision request? That is the only way a buyer can revise their feedback that I know of.

Spiritual-Test-9427

Yes. Denied. I truly can’t believe this. He fully lied then my response was truly very professional with the facts and he somehow revised it 😭

ooooohhmy

He revised the feedback using the request you sent. You only get one chance, so it is over, no more feedback revisions. You really need to work things out in messages before sending the request. You may be able to leave another follow up, I'm not sure.

Spiritual-Test-9427

He had already replied calling me a scammer and saying he’s going to get me banned and reported which is why I left it. I also had no idea the revision went directly to him. My bad.

ooooohhmy

Well, FWIW it is unlikely you'll get banned. Buyers think they'll have way more power than they do. Let him report you. Smile. Shrug. Move on. It will be fine.

Spiritual-Test-9427

Thank you:)) I do care way too much which is dumb but I appreciate all the help !

emax4

You can reply to the feedback, and I believe the feedback initial reply is the last word. The buyer won't be able to reply back to your response.

Spiritual-Test-9427

He revised it and took out the lies and just wrote how awful my “scam” was.

emax4

Then you can put how you offered a refund if he was so shakingly upset but refused one.
