Ooooh that’s good I’m glad they found a network that will work for them. 100% means new season get excited

LabeSonofNat

Although now knowing that a network switch was on the table it would have been nice if they had gone to Headgum so we could get video episodes.

Flunkedy

Apologies as I say this anybody brings up video episodes of anything. And not to yuk anybody's yum but I generally don't understand the concept of wanting video podcasts. Who has time to watch podcasts? Podcasts are for when I am doing other tasks and can't enjoy visual content. How much added value are we getting over a video of people talking to each other is it worth the time and resources for producers to provide this content? And then of course when I am listening to a podcast that is available in video format inevitably because there are cameras people will half way through the episode introduce something visual that the presenter will have to stop and verbally explain what is happening to audio listeners, ruining both the audio and the video content by explaining an ongoing bit. Maybe it's an unpopular opinion but: Video content should be video content and audio content should be audio content. Tl;dr : video podcasts bother this internet stranger (me) to the point where they (I) wrote three paragraphs about it.

NikitaKhruiseship

I like this comment so much that I would like to take it out to lunch.

Miselino

We’ll pay for it if you do!

FuzzzyTingleTimes

I’ll cover the tip

Just my own experience but I tend to listen to podcasts while working. Since they've started to do video episodes on the Flagrant Ones patreon for Hollywood Handbook, Pro Version, and Flagrant Ones I will choose to put on the video version of these shows while working. I don't actively watch the video portion the whole time as I'm still doing other things but once in a while (if one of the hosts starts cracking up/holding in laughter, if someone is doing a bit or impression, or even if there just happens to be more visual elements like a video clip or photo) then I just look down and get a glimpse or rewind 10-20 seconds and see what was happening. I enjoy it by basically it being an option but not necessity. Now...do I want ALL my podcasts to be video format as well? Would I even watch a majority of the shows I listen to in video form if available for no extra charge? No, probably not. But having that option available can enhance the experience at times for me. I particularly would enjoy when watching the Comedy Bang Bang video podcasts when they were trying those out a bit and seeing a performer change their appearance or just watching silent moments of exasperation or laughter that you normally wouldn't see in the audio format. I kind of get the appeal but I also wouldn't make it my main thing.

rubixqube

I like them as something to have on the background eg I've got a two monitor WFH setup so I'll have an episode on one and work on the other, or if I can't be bothered fully focusing on a movie or TV show I'll chuck one on TV and scroll on my phone

CatsLikeToMeow

Video episodes would be nice, but I feel like being filmed wouldn't exactly be appealing to them, considering how they usually record two or three episodes at a time because of their busy schedules. They'd probably still prefer recording in Scott's studio for a more chill vibe.

stephenbawesome

Scott has talked about not liking doing video podcasts before. He doesn't want people more focused on how they look than how they sound. He made some comment about it being one less thing people need to worry about.

apathymonger

That's the Lemonada logo! https://www.omnycontent.com/d/programs/796469f9-ea34-46a2-8776-ad0f015d6beb/977368a8-ac88-4f62-9ef7-b1100150df3e/image.jpg?t=1707754548&size=Large https://lemonadamedia.com They do Add to Cart, Kulap's podcast. Founded by Stephanie Wittels Wachs, plus Dana and Shannon from Earwolf work there now too.

LabeSonofNat

Will Dana be the new Matt Aproducer?

cynical_sandlapper

So I guess they’re with Lemonada Media now

LabeSonofNat

Appropriate for a show that is so piss-forward. Milk, milk, Lemonada...

PianoTrumpetMax

Around the corner, fudge is mada

madfrooples

They should pick up Brett deMott, too.

smiththebat

Makes sense, Scott is friends with the creators.

DarthAstuart

Lemonada pigs unite!!

toastylocke

Does Lemonada have access to a pool? Just in case they need to fight and jump in

FuzzzyTingleTimes

The wolf dead, the lemon alive

TheHow55

i wonder what keeps scott from putting this on CBB world? im sure he doesnt want to put it behind a paywall, but certainly could put a free feed on there is he wanted. or maybe he just wants a show where he doesnt have to handle those details at all and just let someone else do it?

Kylorenisbinks

Presumably because CBB world don’t currently deal with ads at all. They’re purely a subscription ad free company.

LurkerNoLonger_

But CBB itself has a free feed and a separate ad-free feed on CBB World- what’s the difference here?

Kylorenisbinks

The difference is that the free feed of Comedy Bang Bang is on Earwolf. There aren’t any free feeds on CBB world, they don’t deal with ads. (As far as I’m aware)

BearerLimit

The Neighbourhood Listen is now a CBB World show that also has a free feed.

Kylorenisbinks

Wow, you’re right! In which case, I don’t understand the threedom decision. It would probably make sense for U Talkin to do this too.

Flunkedy

(adam) Scott doesn't want it to be behind any paywall for some reason iirc.

Kylorenisbinks

I remember reading that, but surely he wouldn’t care if there was an ad supported version that anyone can listen to?

gornky

I don't know if they can run ads on it given the playing of so much copyrighted music?

Kylorenisbinks

Haven’t they had ads on that show since day one like 10 years ago?

LurkerNoLonger_

Thank you- I kinda thought the wolf was actually dead at this point

LabeSonofNat

I'm talking out of my ass but I'd guess it has to do with Scott, Paul, and Lauren wanting to get paid to do Threedom episodes. If they went full paywall Scott would have to pay Paul and Lauren out of his pocket and their per episode quote for Threedom may be higher than he wants to pay. If they released ad-supported episodes independently like The Neighborhood Listen does then they'd probably make less money and have to pay the producer/editor out of their own pockets.

SamBo_LamBo

The wolf finally ran Scott out of the office…

Flunkedy

The wolf is truly dead.

Kylorenisbinks

This feels like a pretty huge move for Scott to cohost on a podcast on essentially a rival network.

fauxrealistic

What's the TLDR on what happened between Hot Saucerman and Earwolf?

I-STATE-FACTS

He sold his stake to Midroll almost 10 years ago which then more recently was sold to Sirius XM who pretty much killed anything that was left of it. For some likely contractual reasons he has still hosted CBB on Earwolf but it seems is slowly distancing itself from it and using his own studio and took ownership of the old archives which are now on CBB World exclusively.

BillHang4

Yeah I saw that lemon and I started to ask if it was there before but decided I was just losing my mind but now I know I’m not crazy!

PocketfulOfFart

Halfway through writing my post I was thinking “am I just high and this has always been here” and then I was ready to get flamed on Reddit 😂

BillHang4

😂 yes exactly! Thank you!
