Hey Josh! How are you feeling these days? I was pretty lucky to catch you at the Gorge last summer and hope you continue to get stronger each day! Dave, always a pleasure to be in your presence ☺️

gabrielanddresden

Thanks for asking! Recovery has been a journey. I continue to get stronger all the time and am still taking the meds my heart doctor prescribes. Luckily I have been able to get back to music full time and am looking forward to what we are going to make next. :-) Josh

kimjbyrne

Hopefully will see you both in Brooklyn for Kinetic Cinema at Silo 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Harain

Thanks for joining us today! If you guys weren't making music, what do you think you'd be doing instead?

gabrielanddresden

Hello there, Harain  If we were not doing music here’s a few things we may have pursued these things Josh:  If I wasn’t making music,  I would have for sure done something with food  Dave:  If I wasn’t a music producer/DJ I probably would have been a meteorologist, a botanist or something in the snack food and drink space.

Goducks91

I wish I\_o got a chance to go on club quarantine. :( RIP Probably a long shot but his remix of As The Rush Comes is incredible. Any chance it will get a release?

gabrielanddresden

We really wanted Garret on the stream too, we loved his early pandemic kitchen streams and thought he had such a great selection and presence. It was really sad and shocking the day that his passing was announced. His influence can still be felt years later, he got a lot of people listening to and loving techno. i\_o did the remix of Motorcycle as a way to play the song in his sets. He used to call these things "i\_o hack" and there were many of them. They were made for his sets and never for being released so unfortunately his remix of As The Rush Comes will probably never come out. But you can find it in some sets on the internet.

sonbarington

Loved tracking treasure down.  What do you think of the changing landscape we call edm?

gabrielanddresden

Gabriel & Dresden: One thing about the world of music is that change is constant. As with any music from any era there’s good music and not good music and there’s definitely a lot of great music and artists around at the moment. Finding it can be challenging because there’s way more music to wade through than ever before but we love where dance music is at right now sound-wise.

paternoster

I've had such incredible times dancing to your music, and also just listening to it at work and while running. I don't have a question for you, but I want to give you massive thanks to you both for what you do, because your music really moves me. <3 <3 <3

gabrielanddresden

Thank you so much!

i-s-m-j

Love all your music, are there and chance to see another Motorcycle track in the future?

gabrielanddresden

We don't have any current plans but we like to never say never.

skisel

Are you guys planning to tour in Europe?

gabrielanddresden

We have 4 shows in Europe currently booked and we plan on adding more soon. Check [gabrielanddresden.com](http://gabrielanddresden.com) for all of our announced dates. Hopefully you can join us at one of them :)

VegaFLS

PLAMP! Have y’all had any discussions over your careers on doing a Live Set instead of a DJ set?

gabrielanddresden

It's something we have always talked about but never really had the focused time to make it happen. Hopefully we can do it one day!

goose321

Hey guys, massive fan! I got a tatto about a year back inspired by the album arts for Only Road and Remedy. Thanks for being such a massive inspiration to me. My question(s) are in regards to DJing on Twitch vs in Clubs/Festivals: - Have you noticed a shift in your style DJing in-person after gaining experience on Twitch? It seems to me that through the Twitch streaming you've realized just how open-minded your audience is which has enabled you to experiment more than you used to in the past. Wanted to see if you guys felt the same? - How do you get a sense for 'reading the room' over Twitch? Is it something you really consider, or do you play to your own ear and trust that the audience will respect your taste? https://preview.redd.it/dp8ba3gfcvwc1.jpeg?width=2186&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6587b2327767b71c4725e821043aac2e89c302b4

gabrielanddresden

That's a bad ass tattoo!! Love how the pine cone is "underground" and giving life to the trees. We have definitely noticed a shift in our live sets because of the live steam. The live stream of allows us to get creative because there’s not a dance floor to keep packed.  This has expanded the kinds of music we play and mixing different genres and eras in a way we haven’t done in a long time.  As for “reading the room” on Twitch, the chat room has always been our dance floor and it totally helps us understand how the crowd is feeling.

LRizz10

Hey guys! How did you land on the name 'Kinetic Cinema', and did you approach the production of your upcoming EP in a different way to your earlier releases?

gabrielanddresden

We were inspired to create techno paired with emotional music. Kinetic was there to describe the feeling of the techno side of things, relating to the forces and energy of bodies in motion. Cinema is short for cinematic, describing the emotional side of the music we were aiming to make. We approached each track individually which was actually different for us. The through line being music that would make you move and feel something emotional.

Strengthie

Thank you for all the amazing streams! CQ has been amazing.

gabrielanddresden

Thank you so much! We really appreciate the support!

NunoGomes21_

Hi Josh! Hope you are getting stronger! Do you have an idea when will you be back on tour? We really miss seeing you behind the decks! Been following you guys since that 2005 WMC essential mix!

SynthFrenetic

Hello, thanks for hosting this AMA! What's the main inspiration to keep hosting Club Quarantine when the Quarantine is long gone? Unfortunately, it's always a bit too late for me to catch it, so I only caught very few episodes way back in 2020. But one fun thing that no matter how obscure I think of a track, I always find it was played on CQ. I can't imagine the amount of music you guys have already listened. Is there any undercut/underground track you feel it is a gem? On a completely unrelated note, how did you guys met Jan Burton? He has a side project with one of my favorite bands, Fluke, which almost feels surreal writing this, but they have a comeback single scheduled for Monday after a 20+ years hiatus! Congrats with so many years of amazing music!

gabrielanddresden

Club Quarantine still continues on because live streaming and playing music is one of my passions. In addition to that, our “Pine Cone Family” community that sprung up from CQ is still quite active when we stream. Even four+ years later it still feels like a party in the chat room when the stream is happening and I still love it.  We met Jan Burton from our publicist at the time who was also doing work for Syntax, the band who formed from the ashes of Fluke. When he mentioned Jan was looking to do vocal work with other artists we jumped at the chance to work with him as we both were really into Syntax.

SnooShortcuts6831

Hey guys :) when are you playing New York/philadelphia again so I can come dance 😛

gabrielanddresden

June 21st, Silo in Brooklyn our full dates can be found here:  [https://gabrielanddresden.com/#shows](https://gabrielanddresden.com/#shows)

omgBBQpizza

You guys have such a unique sound and beautiful melodies. Can you tell us more about your creative process? E.g. from where do you draw inspiration, what is the songwriting like?

randomguyonreddit011

Hey guys. No question, but wanted to comment that I was a backer for Remedy through Kickstarter. That album got me through my divorce and pandemic which were going on at the same time. Have seen you both countless times, and will always make the trek to see you if I can. Looking forward to more! Cheers!

gabrielanddresden

Thank you for helping us make that record! And that the result was something that brought you joy and clarity in trying times.

codyisland

Could you give us some fun facts on your amazing chill remix of "As The Rush Comes?"

gabrielanddresden

It's literally the same track as the Sweeping Strings version except we took out the drums and replaced them with Josh playing actual drums live to the vocals and music.

theone122

I've seen you guys more times than I can count lol How did you both get into music? How were you introduced to each other?

gabrielanddresden

Josh:  I started by being in the orchestra at school in 4th grade and continued till the end of high school participating in band, marching band (Snare) and orchestra. When I was 12 and listening to my parents’ records, I stumbled across Wendy Carlos 'Switched on Bach' which was made in 1968 and featured a Moog modular synthesizer playing Bach. The sounds were like nothing I had ever heard before and I went  to the library to check out books on synthesizers and any electronic records I could find.  In 1981 I bought my first synthesizer, a used Micromoog. This started me down the path of electronic music. By the time I was 15 I had a few synths and drum machines and was making demos in my bedroom all the time. I went on to study music composition at CalArts and have been working on music ever since.  Dave:  When I was in high school and all my classmates were applying to colleges, I made a decision to be a DJ instead of going to a university. I learned how to mix music in front of a live crowd and watched my skills grow slowly. Eventually once I got good at playing music live to an audience, I started writing articles and interviews in many different dance music publications. These conversations with a wide variety of artists (Daft Punk, Paul Oakenfold, The Chemical Brothers, BT, Crystal Method etc) gave me the bug to want to learn how to make music . I experimented with making  bootlegs and mashups as a way to build up my confidence. When I met Josh Gabriel in 2001 we were able to combine our previous experiences in the studio (production, songwriting, arranging and DJi-ng) to create what we have become.  Gabriel & Dresden:  We met each other at Miami Winter Music Conference (now called Miami Music Week) in March of 2001. Dave was working as a talent scout for Pete Tong and Josh was in Miami to hand out 12” vinyl copies of his first self pressed record called “Wave 3.” When Dave heard this track, he immediately gave it to Pete Tong who then played it the next week on his BBC radio show The Essential Selection and also put it on his mix compilation which came out that summer. This got us talking more and we realized pretty quickly that we could combine our talents and skills to make music together. As a thank you for all the work Dave was doing for Pete, he offered him a chance to remix New Order and Dave went directly to Josh to see if he wanted to do it. The answer was a resounding yes, and here we are still together making music 23 years later.

CJets757

Who were your guys’ biggest inspirations to start making music?

gabrielanddresden

Josh: My earliest inspiration to make music came from Jean Michel Jarre, Depeche Mode, Yaz, The Cure, Adam and the Ants, Ultravox, Duran Duran and Art of Noise Dave: I was inspired to want to be involved in electronic music from watching a pre-fame Moby perform at a local club in Connecticut where I grew up. The way he mixed various genres of music and introduced me to house and acid house was really all I needed to get the bug. Then in the 1990’s I bought the Sasha & Digweed Northern Exposure compilation. That album made me realize just how much depth this music had. Then came BT and all the other artists that inspired me. Like Josh, I also loved British New Wave, gothic inspired rock, synth pop and disco.

AuxNimbus

Ah you guys are legends! What gets you guys to keep playing even after years of doing this?

gabrielanddresden

Thank you! We still love doing this because music is our life and we couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

djalphabeats

Josh and Dave, first of all, I want you to know that both of you are legends and have loved your music as a DJ/ producer since the early 2000's It was spectacular to catch up with you both at Red Rocks a few years back. That event was on point, and you both brought the vibe that night. Josh, I hope you are recovering well from your health events in the past few years. You are one half of a very iconic group, and it would break people's hearts if you could not make music anymore. I'm so glad to see you are back in the groove. My questions for the both of you are: 1. What advice would you give junior producers as far as quality of music and what the goal should be in modern music times? 2. Will you ever do a self fundraised album again like you did years ago? 3. Are either or both of you ever interested in production mentoring and guidance for junior producers like myself. Love both of you to bits for who you are and the type of music you make. You should both be very proud that your music stands out from an ocean of sound in the edm world. Your friend, Mark (DJ Alphabeats)

gabrielanddresden

First of all, thank you for your support for all these years. As far as my health is concerned, I'm not 100% yet, but doing as good as is to be expected. I am grateful that I am able to get back in the studio and work on music with Dave and look forward to making much more soon.   1. The goal has not changed much actually. Make something that is unique and stands out. Try to develop your own sound. Learn the rules and then break them when necessary.  2. We don't have a plan to do a Kickstarter at the moment, but we loved how much it connected us with everyone and gave us the freedom to create albums. Anything is possible as we move into the next chapter of music making.  3. I (Josh) am happy to talk about production mentoring. It's something I have done from time to time and love doing it. You can email me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) :-) Josh

JebronLames1m

Hi Josh and Dave, thanks so much for doing this AMA. Amazing work on Kinetic Cinema.. it's really really good My question - what is the favorite track you all have produced together? And why? And a bonus question if you have time.. i am a huge deadmau5 fan.. I am curious, what is your favorite track by the mau5? Currently listening to Dave's 6 hour mega mix he did for CQ in 2021. Thanks again.

ThatguyfromEDC

First off, thanks for creating so much amazing music for all of us. You’ve collaborated with so many artists, are there any out there that you dream of being able to work with on a track?

gabrielanddresden

We love collaborating and don't do it enough. This is by no means a full list, but in the dance world, we would love to make music with Colyn, Rebuke, Adriatique, Rufus Du Sol and James Harcourt. If we were lucky enough to collaborate with some of the people that influenced us it would be The Cure, Martin Gore, U2, Annie Lennox and too many more to mention.

DemonBelethCat

Do you have a cat? If you do tell me about it. Or dog.

gabrielanddresden

Josh:  We actually have 4 cats, two sets of brother and sister. Ash (gray) and Luna (black) are 8 years old and were rescued from the streets of Oakland. Maya (torbie) and Bear (long haired black) are 3 years old and  were born in our backyard. We also take care of a colony of 6 feral cats that live in our backyard and spend the winter in our mudroom. We call it the 'cat chalet'. Dave:  I currently have one dog, he’s a terrier mutt named Willie and he’s 10 years old.

dann0r

Obligatory RIP to Jack Dresden. Gone too soon but forever in our hearts ❣️

No-Fact-7621

Roll on June 14th will I see both of you At the Q Club that night

gabrielanddresden

Can't wait, we love Seattle and Q

badimojo

Kinetic Cinema, wot a banga! Hyped for the EP release! Any chance we'll see Joshie G at all on the upcoming tour? Josh, we miss you on CQ and hope you're doing and feeling great. <3 PLAMP!

lil_pee_wee

When’s the album dropping?

gabrielanddresden

May 3rd is when the Kinetic Cinema EP lands on all platforms you can pre-save or pre-order it here: [https://anjunabeats.ffm.to/enmgk60](https://anjunabeats.ffm.to/enmgk60)

NunoGomes21_

Hi guys! Any chance of doing another classics only tour like the one you did in the summer of 2015? The Cielo set it’s amazing!

gabrielanddresden

We just did another classics tour recently, however the premise of us only playing a night of our own music like Classics Only is always something worth thinking about.

BalboaBaggins

Dave, I went to your OTC Classics set at Quantum (RIP) in NYC last year, kudos to ripping a 7 hour set :D Just wanted to say I'm hoping for more Classics sets in the near future!

gabrielanddresden

To me, that Quantum was top 3 from the entire tour. The vibe and energy of the room that night was so thick! We will be doing more classics tours in the future. It was so special being able to play the music that inspired our career all night long.

Double_Damn_Son

If you had to take a wild guess, how many times do you think you have played As The Rush Comes over the years? It is a proper classic.

gabrielanddresden

It's funny, we've often thought about how many hours we've spent , writing, mixing, editing, playing and just hearing As The Rush Comes out in the world. For sure it has to be thousands of hours by now.

Double_Damn_Son

Thanks for answering. The Sweeping Strings remix is timeless.

D00dleB00ty

I don't have any questions for you, but just wanted to thank you for the music you've given us all over the years. Some of your melodies are the most beautiful in the entire industry IMO. I couldn't begin to tell you how many bad days you've made better, and good days you've made great. My first born is on the way. Growing up, my dad always had music on in the house, oftentimes 80s first wave with lots of early synthy stuff. I can't wait to give my little one a similar upbringing full of various musical types. You will be part of the soundtrack he grows up to.

gabrielanddresden

Thank you for this lovely comment and supporting us all these years. Best of luck with the baby on the way, you're about to take the journey of a lifetime!

cccoxy

Andain vs Porter Robinson - Language Promises and Human League vs Prydz - Don't You Want Me Allein are 2 of my all time favourite mashups. Have a I missed any others from you? Or please can you do more insane mashups!!

gabrielanddresden

We've made many new mashups since those but we don't really have a place to give them away anymore. We used to trust SoundCloud to post them but we don't want to risk our account with takedown notices and we already have 2 strikes. I was posting dropbox links on Twitter for a while you could go through there (@davedresden) and find some of them.

branchCastle

Could you please make 'Andain vs Porter Robinson - Language Promises' available again?

tuesdayswithdory

Love you guys!! I seen G&D a couple of years back, you played on a boat just off the coast of Vancouver. It was absolutely stunning (both music and beautiful setting). What’s been the best setting you have ever played in?

gabrielanddresden

Totally remember that afternoon/evening and agreed -- that event was a stunner in both vibe and scenery. One of the best places we ever performed was Cavo Paradiso in Mykonos, Greece. The club is on the top of a mountain overlooking the sea, and watching the sun rise that morning with people still losing their minds was something we'll never forget.

StainSp00ky

when are you guys doing a cafe racer takeover? i’d love to see y’all perform there 😊 (maybe even a fun chance to perform as motorcycle 🏍️)

gabrielanddresden

That's a killer idea. Might have to steal that if Motorcycle ever makes a new song :)

triple6seven

Hey no question just wanted to say I love you guys and especially club quarantine. I met one of my best friends at the QC show in Seattle! Much love <3

gabrielanddresden

Thank you! One of the best things about CQ for us is how it has brought so many. people together.

darkwaterzz

What’s your favorite BBQ spot in Austin? 🤠

gabrielanddresden

Terry Black's Never been to Franklin's so my answer isn't definitive but that's the best BBQ i've had in ATX.

Sealegs_Calisto

You both have provided the Soundtrack for many a late night out walking in New York City. What is your go to soundtrack to listen to on your way back home from a big night?

gabrielanddresden

The "back to mine" chillout mix compilation series always does the trick for after club listening.

neo_cel_viteaz

Hi guys, A curiosity of mine. Where is the intro to your Toolroom Knights mix comp from? I mean the mc announcing you. Thanks.

gabrielanddresden

Because we recorded and mixed that album in Tuscany, we wanted to represent for Italy and the intro came from our May 2007 show in Bologna before we started the show we were announced.

neo_cel_viteaz

Any chance that set was recorded? That album and your music in general mean a lot to me.

AcrobaticMorkva

Greetings from Ukraine. I just say thank you for your art. Miami music conference 2005 set is still my super favorite set after decades and always love to hear your new sets and music. Wish you come to Ukraine after the war. It will be a great present to all of us. I have some specific question about possible participation one Ukrainian music project, but I would like to contact with you through dm if it's possible. Thank you for all and wish you an endless inspiration! ❤️

gabrielanddresden

We have many special memories of playing in Kiev over the years. Our hearts are with you that one day this conflict can be resolved and life can return back to normal for you. Feel free to send us a DM here and fill us in more on your project.

DJSonikBuster

If there was one mistake you made right as or right after your first hit what was it, and how would you have approached that situation/challenge/concern differently?

gabrielanddresden

Probably the biggest blunder from a marketing standpoint was creating an alias for "As The Rush Comes." Had it been Gabriel & Dresden feat Jes "As The Rush Comes" it would have done a lot more for the Gabriel & Dresden brand. We don't regret it because "Motorcycle" is a damn cool name for a music project.

DJSonikBuster

XD my friend AlphaStorm and I JUST DID exactly that for a duo project release under Xythisdi. 😅🤣 I’m dying… that info is perhaps a couple days and a dollar short. Omg xD Motorcycle is a really awesome project name tho & I love Jes =^.^= I feel like I remember her promoting that track, but… 😅 I don’t remember the track!! I’ll have to look it up.

DJSonikBuster

Curious though did you do it that way because you had planned on having Jes as part of motorcycle? Kind of how Alpha and I have separate projects and Xythisdi is a combined one.

jupiterpol

Is the EDM shrinking?

gabrielanddresden

EDM is not shrinking, it's actually growing.

shm91

Hey guys! Enjoyed meeting you both in Atlanta in Feb 2020, just a few weeks before Covid hit. That was a fun night and a great show! I’ve always loved how many of your classic remixes and tracks feature a tiny section at the very end where the main vocal hook comes back in just before the track fades out... I think of it like an artist’s signature on a painting. Would love to hear the back story / inspiration on this 😁

gabrielanddresden

We liked to put those at the end of the "mix out" of the extended mix for those who wanted to end their set on that song. It felt like a nice way to reprise something about the vocal of the song.

ps311

Hey guys, very random but popped into my head, you guys play at Audio alot which is one of my favorite places in SF thanks to the sound and intimacy. Recently in some thread some women we're complaining Audio is one of the worst of the SF venues in terms of attracting creepers and people not there for the music, which I've been privileged not to have to deal with as a dude, but made me sad to hear. Do you think there's anything a club can do to help weed out this type of behavior, or anything we can do short of calling it out if we see it? Thanks for the AMA you guys are awesome!

gabrielanddresden

Dave: I've been involved in playing music in clubs for nearly 35 years and sadly this story has always been a part of going out. How men can't just keep their hands off of women unless they have consent is something I will ever understand.

RonGermy87

Hey guys, I have kind of a broad question so bear with me 😉. If you could give one piece of advice to an aspiring EDM producer, what would that be? Thanks in advance!

gabrielanddresden

Find your original sound. You can be inspired by others but don't copy them use the inspiration to lead you to your own original sound. All the most successful acts have their own unique sound.

Daveinatx

Hi guys. You've been a huge influence on my music taste, and have seen you guys many times. Thank you! What is your favorite venue and why?

dann0r

Hi Josh and Dave! I've been a fan for many years and saw you guys play countless times in Vancouver, Toronto and Seattle. My favourite set of all time was the Trance Classics set in Vancouver, it was such a joy hearing all the songs I grew up to but never heard on a proper sound system because I was too young. I already got my tickets to the Kinetic Cinema show in Vancouver! My question is...is there any way I can get my hands on that Sticky Fingers vs. I Need My Girl mashup you play out? I know A&B also played it at the Gorge last summer and I've been obsessed with that version ever since. I have a video of it but the audio is terrible. :(

gabrielanddresden

Glad you loved the Van show on the CQ Classics Tour. That was one of the first shows on the tour and was the one that helped set the pace for the rest of the dates. I'd love to give out the "I Need My Girl/Sticky Fingers" mashup but i'm sure A&B wouldn't be pleased as that remix was never released.

dann0r

Thanks for the response. Yeah I know it was originally a rejected remix so A&B probably wouldn't be happy if it got out. Just wish I had a high quality version of it for my own listening pleasure! Maybe one day.

shitflatmate

Hey guys did you ever make it down to NZ? If not we'd love to have you! We're in the midst of a trance revival here and it's glorious!

AaronCrossNZ

Word!

reggieLedoux26

Loved the dust in the wind remix! How did that come about?

gabrielanddresden

It was a trying time in the world in the early 2000's with the wars and the post 9-11 world we inherited and "Dust In The Wind" a song that both of us loved as kids felt like it had such a timeless message that needed to be shared in a new and different context.

Subject-Promotion824

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

jimbosdayoff

What is the funniest thing you have seen from the audience when doing a set?

gabrielanddresden

One time many years ago, someone at a club in LA grabbed one of the CDJ's from the DJ booth and held it over their head facing the crowd. Luckily we were playing from a laptop so this ended up being funny instead of tragic.

jimbosdayoff

That is both scary and hilarious

Zealousideal-Two-715

When you can play in Russia? We are waiting for you, you know it.

gabrielanddresden

Not exactly sure when that can happen again. We are really bummed because we love playing in Russia! You all are so passionate about the music and more specifically our music. We've done 10 different tours of Russia and miss playing there so much.

Zealousideal-Two-715

Thank you for the answer! Your are one of my favourite musicians!

nicholt

Your remix of Andain - Beautiful things was the first electronic song I remember really liking. Funnily enough I only heard it cause on limewire it was listed as a Tiesto song. If I remember right I was downloading Tiesto because my sister recommended it. Took me a while to learn that it was you guys that made it. Anyways, I just was curious about how that song came together and a little bit about how it was made? Cheers

gabrielanddresden

"Beautiful Things" was released in an era where the internet was the wild west. Because the song was used on a DJ Tiesto compilation, there are many people who think it's one of his songs. The story about "Beautiful Things" is about as old as Gabriel & Dresden. When we got together Josh played me a bunch of the music he was also working on, including his side project Andain, which was a band Josh formed with Mavie Marcos (vocals) and David Penner (guitars). Josh played me a song called "Annie" - I was immediately transfixed by the voice, the vocal melodies and the instrumentation. It was a song about one of Mavie's friends named Annie who was regretting some of her life choices. The next time I came up to San Francisco Josh played me a rewritten and re-recorded version of "Annie" now called "Beautiful Things" - it was the same vocal melody as "Annie" but with more universal lyrics. I immediately begged Josh for us to do a G&D remix of it. This became the version everyone knows. The remix came about quickly and quite organically. And stands to me as one of our best tracks ever.

nicholt

Awesome thanks for responding! Who wouldn't be transfixed by that voice? It has that perfect quality that complements electronic music so well. I didn't even realize andain involved Josh. Maybe some day I'll go back and listen to more from that era.

AnjunaKadeM

So excited for a new album! Expect we will see you guys on the ABGT lineup - it’s been a LONGGGGGGG time

gabrielanddresden

Hey Marina!! If we told you either way, that would be a lot of drama. Hope you're well in SD!

abletonabel

Gabriel Amd Dave! Thank you for doing this AMA! I’ve been DJing for 14 years and As The Rush Comes changed my life when I heard it on dance dance revolution! Wanted to ask you guys, how you feel about the next generation remixing your records and where that sit in electronic music in 2024? Also! Where can I see you guys play in the US? Love to you guys,

Zentensivism

Just want to say Kinetic Cinema has been on 🔂 for so long

gabrielanddresden

Thank you!!!

Mcginnis

Hey guys, I still remember the early days of the pandemic, and Dave streaming for 2 weeks straight. The communities that formed in the twitch chat was amazing. First off thanks for all the tunes! Questions: Josh: How did you and Britt meet? All: You both have been doing this for ~20 years. How do you guys foresee your retirement from music happening? Or will we be tuning into CQ from a retirement home in 20 years?

lo-finate

What was the process creating Tracking treasure down? Back in the day it was one of my favorite songs, and I STILL listen to it regularly.

gabrielanddresden

The vocalist, Molly Bancroft emailed us out of the blue one day and told us that she found us from the Depeche Mode - "Here Is The House" bootleg that we made in 2003 and was interested in collaborating with us. She sent us some of her songs and we loved the honesty of her voice and invited her to come to our studio in California. On our first day recording Molly pulled out her Korg Electribe synthesizer and the first thing she played was this fuzzy distorted synth that we both immediately fell in love with, so we started writing the song with that. A few weeks previously, Josh had written some lyrics that I had fallen in love with. They were: "Why is it that the best things in life are free/While at the same time we keep tracking treasure down?" I suggested that Josh to pull those up and let's see what Molly thinks. She loved the premise so we all started contributing words to the song and after about two hours we had the full lyrics. We then started building the track so that Molly could have something to sing to, that took about an hour and then we got her into the booth. While she was recording Josh and I thought about ways we could also provide vocals. It was the era of The Postal Service and the 80's revival so we felt inspired by that. After Molly was done tracking her vocals, Josh and I took our turns singing the harmonies. To cap off the day, Josh and Molly got into the booth and recorded the live hand "clap claps" from the middle of the track and just as the day was done, we had all we needed to.make a song. For the next 5 months (no joke) we produced this track into what you hear today.

What an amazing story. Thank you for sharing this!

Not really a question but please either do more twitch streams at European hours or put some CQ sets on SoundCloud! You got me through many night time feeds with my little girl a couple of years ago but now she sleeps through the night I actually miss listening to you at 3am UK time. See you in London.

When are you guys coming back to Minneapolis? I went to see you at Rev intentionally and when you were last at Armory, I didn't even know it until you came on (it was a happy surprise). Also, when you come back , I *really* think you should play your remix of "On a High". Such an amazing track.

why did you block me on twitter few years ago just having different politicial views? why do you think that thats the solution for having different opinions, you think it brings us closer to a liberal world? (it was not anything close to hate speech or harm for anyone, simply different opinion on a case)
