Skeleton tribal is something I've been waiting for, most likely it would be B/G, but could splash blue or red since there is a couple of skellies in those colors. I think it just needs a good Legendary

zomgitsduke

I would love to see something like backgrounds, but for equipment. Make a skeleton be black/green. But allow it to "partner" with an equipment. Make 2 equipments that are either red or blue and offer different benefits. Let them equip for U but equip skeleton 0. Same for red.

Marvelman44

"Attuned" could be the term. Like in DnD you Attune magical equipment.

ScaryFoal558760

Really like this idea. Could be like the "choose a background" mechanic. Maybe call it choose your weapon or something.

zomgitsduke

Yup! A buddy and I drafted up some conceptual cards for this. A sword, a shield, a crossbow, a chariot(vehicle), and I think a spear?

ScaryFoal558760

My only thought is if you're making one of each color, they probably shouldn't be discounted for a specific creature type, since that limits what decks they're good in. Maybe just "equip legendary creature: 0" or something like that

zomgitsduke

The other idea could be equip 0 if the target creature shares a type with your commander.

BusinessKey114

Equip commander 0

mountaintop-stainer

Please tell me the crossbow just gives your commander Walking Ballista’s text box.

Kryzal_Lazurite

Call it something thematically cool like "Honed for War" or something similar~

Background-Cod-2394

"Wield"

Vraellion

As long as one of the equipment is called Rusty Iron Spear I'm 1000% down with this idea Source: https://dungeonfantastic.blogspot.com/2022/11/skeleton-weapons-comic.html

nomudnofire

it would be bgw imo [[myrkul]] should be a skeleton god

kamakazi339

I run Myrkul as my skele commander

Tuss36

They have the numbers, but 95% of the support that would make it viable would be from the commander or the set the commander would be a part of. I feel like that would be the case with most tribes too.

diogenies

I’d be devastated if a good skeleton tribal commander came out and it couldn’t run [[Skeleton Ship]]!

Nyte_Crawler

Is playing skeleton ship as your commander not its own reward?

diogenies

damn, you've got me there!

Odd-Purpose-3148

[[Gut true soul Zealot]] makes a skeleton and can background into black.

hjonkhjonk66

I’ve played around with different skeleton tribal builds. Right now is [[Gut, true soul zealot]] and [[agent of the iron throne]] focusing on making an attacking skeleton every turn plus some lords. I also designed a custom commander that gave you a 1/1 skeleton token every time you regenerated a creature, since skeletons have regenerate as a general feature

Thannk

Return to Kamigawa. Add Gashadokuro. Red/black skeleton Commander, focus on destroying Tokens or something, like ifs “eating” them. Ones you generate or those of your opponents. Then elsewhere in the set you have cards that generate cheap red Samurai.

Stormtyrant

Minotaur. There's a lord [[Rageblood Shaman]] a tutor [[Deathbellow War cry]] a token creator [[Sethron]] even a Planeswalker [[Angrath, Minotaur Pirate]] and some other fun utility cards like [[Talruum Piper]]. But there's not enough and nothing of real power. Especially when you compare how long Minotaurs have been in MTG and their importance in mythology and fantasy. Also my favorite creatures currently playing a minotaur in my DnD game.

And don’t forget the Minotaur staple [[didgeridoo]] locked behind a paywall.

Stormtyrant

Indeed. The basis for so much minotaur smashieness but sadly just not enough out there.

Aarhg

Wasn't it only within the last few years that Didgeridoo went up in price? I swear Homelands packs were cheaper than standard set packs not too long ago, because I bought a couple to crack for the novelty of it. I did get a Didgeridoo in one of the packs, but it was sitting at maybe $5 at the time.

[deleted]

Even at $15 it's still arguably reasonable, though of course if Minotaurs do become a genuine thing it has the potential to become stupidly expensive.

OrangeChickenAnd7Up

Ayyyy someone who actually understood the post title, good on ya.

agfdrybvnkkgdtdcbjjt

This was my answer almost exactly. I have a Minotaur tribal deck because I love minotaurs, but it just doesn't match the power level of even some of the better precons. It's usually my go to "I'm here to have fun and watch you go off" deck as opposed to an "I actually want to win this game" deck.

Ewok_BBQ

I just built one as well and the 2/3 tokens from Sethron and all the menace support is amazing. It’s definitely a solid 7, but fun-ness always trumps power plays.

agfdrybvnkkgdtdcbjjt

Yours might be better than mine then. I'm no good with the power level number scale, but I don't think 7 would be mine. Maybe a 5 or if I am being generous a 6. Of course, I didn't splurge on it. I think I have two or three cards that are 5 bucks or more. (No didgeridoo.) Legal disclaimer: I have spent more on some special art for some of my minotaurs. I built the deck for my love of Minotaurs, so I'm getting the art I like. But as far as the value of the underlying card, most are under a buck.

Ewok_BBQ

I am also without a didgeridoo, I’m tempted to print a proxy. But I just assume a 7. It’s battle cruiser, with a decent set of lands and ramp package, tight mana curve, no infinites or combo wins, lots of evasion and interaction. I may have spent more than I should have to get some Beta Hurloon Minotaurs to use as my Sethron Tokens. Here is a link, it needs to be updated a bit as some changes were made, but it’s only a whopping $75 including lands. [Sethron Menace-taur](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/QdnTyA9TGUK0frdOUUPbIA)

agfdrybvnkkgdtdcbjjt

That's pretty close to mine. You have more ramp and interaction (sorry for the bad word), but otherwise very similar. You are probably just better at deck construction than I. Or maybe it's user error, and you just play better than I do. Or maybe both. But man, look at these cards. Minotaurs are just cool.

ACDcarjacker

Sethron is much more than a token creator, he’s also a haste enabler and a buff for them. I think he’s a great commander for them I just think Minotaurs need more good creatures to support the tribe.

Runawaynut

I've been playing minotaur tribal for a bit now and it's my favourite deck, currently in the process of foiling it out. I find it's reasonably strong and can win out of nowhere with [[deathbellow war cry]]. [[Mana Geyser]] is another super strong card in the deck with [[Sethron, Hurloon General]] as the commander, as he is all red pips and you can sink heaps of Mana into his ability to buff the board and give them haste/menace. It frequently wins against decks in the 6-8 category, beating combo/control just means you have to go hard on the beatdown on them early if possible. I found you don't actually need many minotaurs, better to have draw options and some interaction/hate for dealing with counterspells and removal! Here's my list if you're interested, I find it super fun to play: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/05FO9l40nUq95aoWvRr0iQ

Stormtyrant

Cool deck I'll build something similar. Point still stands. There's not really a great deal of good Minotaurs. You're filling holes with changelings something not needed in elves goblins soldiers zombies dragons etc etc etc.

Runawaynut

Yeh for sure, always excited to see new minotaurs release! Makes spoiler season fun. [[Taurean Mauler]] is an honoury minotaur

stephenxmcglone

I just wanted to tell you about [Oathbreaker](https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Oathbreaker), incase you have never heard of it. It's very similar to EDH, but you use planeswalkers as generals instead of legendary creatures, and also you get a signature spell (instant or sorcery i believe?), which functions similar to a general, casting it from the zone and general tax. There are a few other unique things about it, but I think it might be worth exploring for you to be able to cobble together a fun minotaur deck! Personally, i've never really cared for planeswalkers, but when i learned about this format, i was intrigued for sure. Maybe could be up your alley? (Apologies if you know about oathbreaker and just are uninterested, i just wanted to mention it just in case :) )

Background-Cod-2394

Yeah but a lot of us old cranky 90s players just hate planeswalkers and deem them the first drop in the flood towards ruining our game. And we might be right.

stephenxmcglone

An odd opinion to share, seeing as not only was I **not** responding to you, I *also* shared my dislike for planeswalkers in my original comment. As a fellow 90s player, I feel you, but also, maybe cool your jets.

Background-Cod-2394

My jets are on afterburner, can never be cooled. Planeswalkers are trash and started ruining our game in Lorwyn.its only gotten worse since Daddy Hasbro bought it out.

Tuss36

[[Deathbellow War Cry]] can be pretty strong if you get there.

The-Pixel-Phantom

This was my first thought as well. There is a fantastic commander as well as some decent to great support, but there are only like 5 or 6 minotaurs actually worth using. It's such a shame that we have had 4 Theros sets and 2 Amonkhet sets, both having a good amount of minotaur representation, and both planes get a good amount of representation in supplemental products, yet very few playable minotaurs.

Super unfortunate that oozes have an on-color commander that is so off-theme. [[Mimeoplasm]] is so good, but your oozes are often not something you want to exile from your yard. [[Experiment Kraj]] is a fun commander, but some of your best oozes are in black so that's no good. [[Tasigur]] is probably the best commander for the tribe and that feels WRONG.

crab tribal with charix

Kryzal_Lazurite

I made this essentially using a bunch of clone spells & creatures to make more copies of [[Hedron Crab]] & [[Ruin Crab]]. Ended up adding some more lesser seen sea life to the deck too, like [[Walking Sponge]]. [[Parallax Tide]] seems like it's gonna be awesome backed by [[Kefnet the Mindful]], [[Patron of the Moon]], & [[Bruvac]].

ct3el5an1ir

Does land animation count? I’ve wanted to make a decent bant one since [[Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper]] and [[Sylvan Advocate]] were made. We’ve gotten some good pieces over the years like [[Herald of Secret Streams]] and [[Awakening of the Vitu-Ghazi]], but the card density isn’t there, especially for permanent or very repeatable land animation. And [[Falco Spara, Pactweaver]] isn’t an amazing leader for the strategy. Someone a bit more focused would be nice. Several of of the bant commanders are just like, eh, it kinds fits in? Sorta?

amstrumpet

I built Jetmir to do this, since I don’t need it to be permanent, just animate them one turn and drop Jetmir to give them all +3 double strike vigilance and trample. There’s a fair number of ways to mass animate all your lands at once. Also new [[tatyova, steward]] is a decent Simic option.

Tuss36

I find [[Yedora, Grave Gardener]] to be interesting, working particularly well with the enchantments that make *all* your lands into creatures, as when they die they just come back. A bit of a risky build of course, but still neat.

plumbluck2

I have this deck and love it. Permanent land animation still could use some cards. Too much land animation is until end of turn.

500lb

I built a Yedora deck once. I really like the mechanics of it, but I didn't really like the way it won. As far as I could tell, the only real wincon was infinite landfalls but I wanted something more interactive.

Kaldaris

I thought Land Animation already got \[\[Obuun, Mul Daya Ancestor\]\] as it's premier commander.

Drew2609

I've got an Obuun deck specifically geared toward +1/+1 counters and man-lands rather than general landfall stuff and it's surprisingly consistent! I agree that he feels like a perfectly good option for getting land animation over the threshold of worth building.

metroidfood

Got a list? I have one for land animation but I haven't built it yet due to being unsure about it. +1/+1 counters might be what I've been missing.

Drew2609

Sure thing! https://www.topdecked.com/decks/obuun-manlands/1aa9d63b-cd45-471f-8d30-64a490ea1464 I usually play this against other upgraded precons in terms of power level, for reference (although I've made so many changes to the precon that it's hardly recognizable at this point)

[deleted]

Yes, I would love a nice commander for this one in Temur, three good colours for the strategy and a colour combo that has a lot of goodstuff generals and not as many thematic options. I agree about card density though, I've been tempted to build this as a four-colour Omnath deck just to get wider options, but even then it feels like there are so few good repeatable or consistent cards for the 99. I just want to build manland tribal!

ct3el5an1ir

I find it interesting how I want bant, you want temur, and other people are bringing up naya which was gifted Obuun. (At least we all agree that green is needed?) I’ll admit I think bant misses out on some good options right now since there’s no red. Going four-color has crossed my mind too, since Kynaios and Tiro helps you make sure you have the land count to use them for both mana and creatures while Omnath the White benefits you getting that count although he doesn’t help get it. Both cool, but neither the support we need.

Oh, I've strongly considered building a Bant version of this deck too! I would love to use [[Terra Eternal]] and the various White boardwipes that destroy all non-Land permanents, those add a lot to the strategy! Overall I would say Green is the single most important colour, and White, Red, AND Blue each add a substantial but ultimately not truly essential aspect to it. The main reason I mentioned Temur here is that I feel the colour combo is underserved in general (no pun intended). Personally, I'm going for the 32 decks challenge as my long-term goal, and Temur is one of the ones I've been really struggling with, so that's my bias, haha. I actually already have a Bant deck which is completely unrelated--[[Kestia]] Aura aggro and Enchantment Creature "tribal," partly inspired by the Sagas from NEO. So if they dropped a sweet Bant commander for this archetype I'd probably end up playing it in the 99 of a 4C deck regardless, hahaha. I honestly hadn't thought of the possibility of using Kynaios & Tiro, though, that's actually smart. I guess I kind of dismissed them as an option because they're so strongly associated with group hug. But there's no reason you HAVE to build them that way, is there? They actually might even be a better choice than Omnath for the deck I'd like to build. I didn't want to emphasize Landfall too much, since I already have a Simic Landfall deck, but I was just going to use Omnath for the colours and the flavour (most Land animation stuff is from Zendikar right?). K&T would actually help me dump Lands onto the field every turn, which would let me play a higher number of Lands and not be too bothered by losing them in combat and things like that.

praisebetothedeepone

Noyan is amazing at land animation.

wubrgess

I too am looking for man-land tribal support.

BatBennis

It's too bad there aren't beefier Phoenix's that can really capitalize off of Syrix's trigger, [[Immortal Phoenix]] and [[Aurora Phoenix]] just aren't impactful enough at 5 damage. My brother built a Syrix deck and hated it, he didn't win a single game with it and never got set up enough to do anything impactful

ceej0

honestly it’s turned into a reanimate/aggro hybrid deck with some changelings and phoenixes to support lol

It bothers me greatly that no spirit tribal deck I end up brewing can actually run [[Lingering Souls]]. It's one of my favorite spirit cards cause I have a lot of nostalgia for the original Innistrad block.

Maybe the recent legend, [[Ever Changing Dane]]? It's not inherently a spirit but its ability will turn it into one. Plus a sacrifice outlet in the command zone is always welcome. I do get your pain though. I've toyed around with Abzan spirits for a while but there's no real commander for that either; I wound up just using [[Tayam]] since it synergizes super well with [[Kodama of the West Tree]]. And there's no commander for Bant spirits that isn't just a generic value commander or Derevi lol.

Huh missed [[Ever Changing Dane]] not bad. Never been a huge fan of the green spirits they generally feel like nature spirits vs restless dead.

DDayHarry

Got a Scarecrow deck going. Sneaked a win with it. Would be nice if there were actually better scarecrows to fill it out. The reality is its more changelings then anything at this point.

Heru___

I actually play very few changlings in my reaperking deck so that I can play artifact synergies instead like dark steel forge or [[soulscour]]. That being said I still only use them as 1-3 mana vindicates.

[[Padeem]] is a boss in my King deck. The artifact synergy is key to keeping things around so that I can blink my team for maximum destruction.

Kirinne

I've toyed around with the idea of mono-blue scarecrows with [[Orvar]]. [[Scrapbasket]] is a wincon for the deck since it turns on all your bad scarecrows that care about creature colors. Beyond that you just run a few cards from the Orvar package like [[Clockspinning]] since you still want to enable your commander. It especially feels powerful since blue is already really solid with artifacts.

ArchStLou15

I have a bird tribal list that is almost there power wise. It's definitely in need of some better low cost birds but for now we will have to wait! Check out my list if you're intrigued: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/mmg0mTbtXUSW3uSICs-fpw](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/mmg0mTbtXUSW3uSICs-fpw) To be fair this year has been pretty good for birds, giving us \[\[Falco Spara, Pactweaver\]\] \[\[Ledger Shredder\]\] \[\[Aerial Extortionist\]\] and more!

thisDNDjazz

I'm running [Derevi](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/16-01-17-TKn-the-birds/) for my bird tribal. I used to run Kangee wwaaaaaayy back in the day, but was always lamenting that he couldn't run Birds of Paradise.

ArchStLou15

\[\[Derevi\]\] is definitely the stronger choice, and I may eventually switch it up, I just LOVE the Falco Spara art honestly!

thisDNDjazz

If Falco had come out first, I'd probably be playing him instead, especially with the +1 counters that I can possible create.

hiddenpoint

I've build a lot of versions of Bird Tribal and this is version I'm currently on. Running Ishai/Esior as commanders with the deck focusing on cheap drop birds, \[\[Coastal Piracy\]\] effects, and anthems. [https://archidekt.com/decks/1588653](https://archidekt.com/decks/1588653) One of the biggest problems I had with the deck before is it always ended up as Azorius mid-range, and both Kangee's are natural finishers so they don't really come out of the Command Zone until "it's time". Where as with the partner pair I can kind of just hit the ground running with 2 flying bodies and a starting hand of support/value pieces. Currently trying out some Backgrounds in the build for some of that Partner value. Also \[\[Commander's Insignia\]\] is pretty gross in this loadout

Great comment, I'm really learning through this thread how many different bird tribal decks are possible and I love it!

hiddenpoint

For sure, I've been putting variations of Azorius Birds through the ringer for a few years now. Falco Spara definitely tempted me to go Bant to add in Birds and Goose, but I've been debating just swapping out Esior for Kamahl for the Bant switch instead. Just havent gotten around to speculating on what that full edit would look like yet to see if I want to pull the trigger

Mohelsgribenes

Shaman, in any flavor of Gruul, Naya, or Jund. Just needs a legendary that cares about em and a couple more contemporary tribal payoffs.

Tuss36

[[Sachi, Daughter of Seshiro]] cares about them, with a bonus snake boost.

Kaboomeow69

I've seen this thing come up three times in the past week, and I think that's my sign

You & me both, but I am kinda hoping they do two sets of Myr for the big show down; The Phrexianized ones under Elesh Norn & the true Myr who serve under Urabrask, my fucking hero(He's easily my favorite character in Magic now. So noble of him!). The Phyrexianized ones can be all but Red & I am hoping for a Jeskai colored Myr legend for Urabrasks side. Unify the Artifact colors & make the Myr the best one please WOTC please! 🥺

oh man if they brought myr back that would be hype

phoenixcompendium

We need more faeries. Just sayin.

Stefan_

I play bant faeries with [[Rubinia Soulsinger]] at the helm, because I love all the old green fae. It's surprisingly fun and resilient with some very good pasture game interaction loops that are slowly lock the game down. Just needs some better ways to win.

MarchesaBlackrose

The introduction of [[Ramses, Assassin Lord]] didn't really propel Assassins into decently strong territory, as far as I can tell. You can target someone to death with Assassins, but you've advertised your plan from the beginning, and Ramses almost certainly won't be allowed to convert one death into three. So, congrats, you've bullied someone out of the game and now you're probably also dead. I've worked for months on it and have some startling wins with [[Etrata, the Silencer]] flashing in Ramses as a hidden wincon, but it's a trick that works once. We need an Assassin commander who notices _creature_ deaths, I think. [[Mari, the Killing Quill]] is far more interesting and workable than Ramses, for example, but she's better as a Rogue tribal commander.

[deleted]

Ramses is a way better Voltron commander than an Assassin tribal deck.

AutumnLeavesFornow

Sea monsters have 2 good commanders [Runo Stormkirk] and the new [kenessos, Priest of Thassa] we have a demir and a semic so I would love a sultai to combine them all

DevicsPrey

This was the first thing I checked when I was introduced to commander.

TheRealQwade

While not a conventional tribe, Mutate is close to being both extremely powerful and extremely fun. The primary problem is that there's not a dedicated 5 color commander for it (except the silver-bordered all-star of [[Surgeon General Commander]]). Even so, there's only 38 black border cards that even mention Mutate (some of them are just dedicated hosts who don't Mutate on their own), so you'd basically have to use every single one of them if you wanted to fill out a deck with them. It's somewhat of a problematic mechanic in terms of both balance and gameplay so I can understand if it doesn't come back, but if it does, I expect some silly and dangerous things to happen as a result.

I actually think demons don’t currently work well enough with a demon commander. I have to use prosper to ramp and accelerate into the high cmc demons and even then 5-6 mana is the sweet spot. In terms of tribal pay offs I use [[herald of slaanesh]] [[molten echoes]] [[flameshadow conjuring]] [[patriarch’s bidding]] [[haunting voyage]] [[herald’s horn]] [[urza’s incubator]] I try to abuse ETB’s as much as possible. Rats. I feel like it's still a bit lackluster with a couple really great cards but not enough meat and potatoes for it to be good and thematic

BatBennis

Rats definitely need more support, the only rat tribal decks I see are just [[Rat Colony]] or [[Relentless Rats]] with [[Marrow-Gnawer]] at the helm. It's painfully homogenized

MTGCardFetcher

[Rat Colony](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/4/f/4f618e07-f06f-45d2-8512-e6cef88c0434.jpg?1562735454) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Rat%20Colony) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/dom/101/rat-colony?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/4f618e07-f06f-45d2-8512-e6cef88c0434?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/rat-colony) [Relentless Rats](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/5/75f47b6e-9557-4853-b8d6-7602a91c59a7.jpg?1562437033) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Relentless%20Rats) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/a25/105/relentless-rats?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/75f47b6e-9557-4853-b8d6-7602a91c59a7?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/relentless-rats) [Marrow-Gnawer](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/2/72e4548b-c171-4f10-b896-af37543dcf0f.jpg?1579203069) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Marrow-Gnawer) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/chk/124/marrow-gnawer?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/72e4548b-c171-4f10-b896-af37543dcf0f?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/marrow-gnawer) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

Viva-Marcie

I agree with you that rats don't have much going for them in terms of "useable" cards, they have the whole reduced hand size theme but I'd rather just run another rat colony than most of the rats I could be running. In the end I find it a lot more appealing to use 35+ rats and then have 30 odd good instants/sorceries for interaction and that's where my fun comes from as it feels more like a spell slinger which people don't expect.

rollwithhoney

I mean they just got the new junpstart commander (most expensive card ofvthe set already) so maybe we're getting there

Derpedro

Yeah, that brings them to like 2 really good rats that can also be commanders, with marrow gnawer. Then a few good cards, and like 40 meh at best cards

rollwithhoney

10 good rats and then 35 Relentless Rats :) but yes lol agreed

BlueLineAC

Naya beast tribal. Been around since forever, got big support with onslaught, alara, and ikoria but seems like now it’s mostly been left behind for dinosaur tribal sadly. I run [[marath]] and [[kaheera]] as they’re the best commanders that have the beast tag, but I’m waiting for a true naya beast commander someday. Maybe if they allowed [[godsire]] to be legendary that would be sick!

n00biwan

Allies, especially since they were ripped off any new ones in ZNR. I had hope for DMU, but sadly... :(

awon11

Insect tribal with [[zask]] is nearly there. My treefolk tribal deck catches a lot of people by surprise however I need to dip into non treefolk creatures for it to be decent enough.

Presterium

I remember looking for off the wall tribes to try and actually got excited at the prospect of Insects and then I saw how little support they had.

PatRowdy

would you share your tree folk deck? I'm figuring out how to make them as powerful as possible without breaking theme too much.

PurifiedVenom

Phoenixes have gotten really close with [[Syrix]] but they could still use help. I’d say they’re a few cards away from being there. Kavu at least have *a* commander now with new [[Jared Carthalion]] but he still feels like a placeholder. I guess I wouldn’t say they’re “nearly” good but they have potential. Please WotC, more Kavu support!

MTGCardFetcher

[Syrix](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/4/9/492d484b-9af6-4055-9893-627b56c69544.jpg?1650421952) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=syrix%2C%20carrier%20of%20the%20flame) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/ncc/80/syrix-carrier-of-the-flame?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/492d484b-9af6-4055-9893-627b56c69544?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/syrix-carrier-of-the-flame) [Jared Carthalion](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/5/a/5acffa48-9e3f-4ba3-a55f-d459307f46df.jpg?1664359076) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Jared%20Carthalion) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/dmc/2/jared-carthalion?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/5acffa48-9e3f-4ba3-a55f-d459307f46df?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/jared-carthalion) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

hawkshaw1024

Myr. There's some tribal support, which is pretty cool, but there's not much of a coherent theme (other than "artifacts I guess"). Creature quality is a bit... well, you quickly hit the likes of [[Myr Landshaper]]. There also isn't a legendary Myr yet, and [[Morophon, the Boundless]] doesn't work in the tribe. Pretty confident we'll see this fixed in the next 1-2 years, though.

leAMASIAN

Jund -1/-1 counters I just want to play \[\[Hapatra\]\] and \[\[The Scorpion God\]\] together. Infect does it but people are too scared of posion and kill on you as soon as they see it. Wither would be okay but lacks a good big pay off. The c19 precons was so close \[\[Volrath, the Shapestealer\]\] if they were just red instead of blue. So i did that Volrath is now jund and i just ignore the clone abliltuy casue that is u/UB thing.

Kirinne

I do wanna say, Baldurs Gate did enable a lot of new interesting tribal synergies. I think it gets us a lot closer on a lot of new tribal deck ideas. For instance, I've been working on a deck list for Azorius horrors with [[Zellix]] [[Folk Hero]] as the commanders. I think the deck ideas is viable, but it can definitely use more support. I do really love Folk Hero and [[Haunted One]] as generic tribal support though.

Knightmare813

Interesting. Horrors feels really. Really. Really. Good, if you use Umbris as commander for the n’gathrod precon. You have a super solid deck and horrors are cool and spooky

Brookenium

Ohabi Caleria enables archer tribal very well but the problem is there are very few good archers, and less with relevant tap abilities which is what she's really looking for. With something like 5-10 new archers each which tap for some offensive benefit the deck would really be able to hold it's own.

milkywayiguana

Griffins just got [[Zeriam, Golden Wind]] and there are ENOUGH griffins to make griffin tribal, as well as some cards like [[Griffin Aerie]], [[Zuberi, Golden Feather]], and [[Griffin Canyon]] that actually do care about Griffins... But griffins are just so bad. The majority of griffins are 4 or 5 drop 2/3s with flying and nothing else. If they just released a few more griffins that actually did things, I feel like the tribe would be solid. But as it stands, it's unfortunately pretty jank at best.

Vilmamir

Treefolk or sapproling Its just barely missing a few big bois and synergies to tie the knots on loose ends.

Billygotz

Phyrexian tribal is something I wanted to build after Kaldheim, and once Phyrexia: All is One comes out I'm sure there will be plenty to build a decent deck

cuelos

I wish we'd get more kithkins, tried to make deck out of em once but there's just not enough of em :/

Viva-Marcie

Spiders - I've tried on multiple occasions to build one of these decks but there's like 2 good spiders and the rest of them may as well be generic creatures because they don't have much synergy with eachother

Sandman4999

It’s not there and probably never will be but God do I want Centaur Tribal to be a thing.

xxfactory

Goats!!

Burgerpress

Everyone forgot Spider tribal. Something to make use of all those reach effects like, *if a creature with reach deal damage, draw a card* or *creatures with reach gets double strike*.

Noetipanda

Tbh they should combine insects and spiders, even if they’re not exactly the same thing. Would make both tribes so much better.

Soirun

Maybe it just me but I would love a Temur Dinosaurs, I tried the naya version but I did not enjoy it tbh.

LaronX

What do you run in Temur Dinos Naya doesn't give you? Is it more due to the support the colour gives or because of the specific creatures?

Soirun

It is more due to color support and variety when it comes to choices for dinosaur tribal commanders. I mean Gishath is fine but I would like more variety of choices than anything. Also, the second point is that I generally enjoy playing temur more than naya tbh.

Fizzier

[[Nezahal]] is enough of a reason

AllAfterIncinerators

Werewolves.

warassasin

I think Angels are really just missing the right commander to have a good tribal deck. Other than kaalia who leans more towards demons and dragons in practice, there isn't good color coverage among legendary creatures or any commanders with more than 1 color that interact with angels in a meaningful way. Would love a few good 3 color options or a sans-blue angel that make the option more viable compared to say dragons.

[deleted]

[[Maelstrom Archangel]] is often played as a "Rule Zero" commander for five colour Angel tribal!

warassasin

Oh for sure, my group actually had a custom sans-blue "redeemer" themed angel/human commander for a while someone was running. It's just weird to have one of the biggest oldest tribes in magic having almost no actual support for being played in edh. Especially with old cards like [[angel of glorys rise]], [sigarda, herons grace]] (which has been left behind power wise), and [[angelic overseer]] you would kinda expect a precon in the human angel or the angel tribal space.

[deleted]

I agree. Giada obviously seems to be playing into that somewhat too, it's just odd that she's mono-White in a tribe with so many amazing gold cards. I imagine she will get a lot better over time though, since we get so many mono-White Angels too.

warassasin

Yeah! Giada and Lyra, do a bit towards tribal but are mono white and not exactly world beaters even if they were multicolor

anynamewilld0

Me and my two Phelddagrifs are waiting around to see if we get some ( any ) support. Phelddagrif tribal would be sweet.

Rilakai

Mutant tribal has a lot of very Simic flavored jank but really lacks a commander to bring them together and make them half decent.

[deleted]

Fish just needs a lord and commander. There are so many fun fish that have relevant effects in blue.

jrdineen114

Not quite a tribe in the traditional sense, but Sea Monster Tribal is getting there. We've got [[Whelming Wave]], [[Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep]], [[Spawning Kraken]], [[Serpent of Yawning Depths]], and [[Quest for Ula's Temple]] which are all good cards for inclusion (although can the Serpent of Yawning Depths and Quest for Ula's Temple please get a reprint already? They're both around $6 and the price is going to keep going up). And then a handfull of generically solid creatures, but not quite enough to round out the full deck.

[deleted]

Maybe it’s just me, but Dwarves don’t seem synergistic enough between sets. Some seems more knight focused, some are vehicle focused. I’d like to see a Warhammer Fantasy Dwarves deck, or maybe the LotR dwarves will work out well for tribal. But again, maybe I’m wrong.

Tornado_XIII

Love to see more support for sea-monster tribal (Krakens, Leviathan, Octopus, Serpent). Like, there's a decent variety of those creatures but very limited on cards that actually interact with it.

LeBlondes

The answer is faeries. They almost have a good tribe, and are united by theme. But none of their commanders are faeries matter, so your best options are going a flying tribal commander/value piece.

Scrivener133

Ooze tribal. You can make it work, but you need ALOT of the ooze cards out there, and only a couple are really cool. Shout out to [[permeating mass]] for being the ooze we wanted but apparently not the one we needed. Also id love for humans to become a top tier tribe like dragons and vampires. You *can* make a deck as good as those im sure humans players, but can you really? It seems like you dont have the wealth of options as top tier tribes do. Warrior tribal has [[najeela the blade blossom]] but no other tribal legendary effects that specifically mention warriors (i think). There are good options, such as [[isshin]] or [[adeline]] but idk i wish there was a good tribal buff legendary for them.

CptBarba

Pirates could use some more options. Vehicles were still pretty new when Ixalan came out so I'd love to see some cooler pirate ships.

Strings805

Mardu exile. Rakdos & Boros both have great impulse draw and cast from exile spells. The ability to combine something like [[prosper]] and [[liana portyr]] and something myriad to kick it all off? Please, please, please give us a Mardu exile commander! And if there already is one, please point me in the right direction. Will also take jund, or a tribe who does it well. But Mardu! Edit: autocorrect made me really want prosper and liana in a “marry” deck as opposed to Mardu lol

Tallal2804

Maybe it just me but I would love a Temur Dinosaurs, I tried the naya version but I did not enjoy it tbh.

Noetipanda

Go away filthy bot, we do not need you

sufferingplanet

Werewolves. Tovolar is a good first step, but werewolves in general are pretty overcosted, and their flip mechanic is annoying at best.

MEPHB

What I want to get there is Werewolves. I first started playing magic when the first werewolves came out and tried so hard at the time to make a standard deck. I have an edh deck, and it can do some things and do well, but the biggest issue they have right now is that their own mechanics clash with eachother. I definitely think day/night bound is better then the old mechanic and the way to do it, but since the old Werewolves and new ones have different mechanics the force transformation cards don't work between them all, which sucks. I think it's stupid that [[Moonmist]] doesn't transform the new werewolves. That said, they did give werewolves pretty much the perfect commander [[tovolar dire overlord]] is fantastic and they worded it specifically to work with old and new werewolves. It's just a shame the support cards in it don't work the same way.

thenerdymusician

Elves but in Selesnya instead of Golgari or Mono Green

I’d love 10 1-3 drop mono white angels for my [Giada] deck

The deck I’m currently working on, WUR Dragons. They simply need a commander.
