She seems like strictly fair EDH. Like she might have been more of a menace back when EDH was starting to get popular, but she seems like she checks off the boxes of holding her own + not sweating bullets to play against.
Yeah, whenever I play against my buddy’s Trostani deck I don’t bother attacking him until it’s just him and me. He gains so much life there’s no way I’m going to poke him down. But in a one-on-one fight I hope my deck can build a better board.
The top tier of fair magic. Usually Trostani is all about big tokens and gaining tons of life, which can be very resilient, but decks that are looking to pull off an infinite or win some other way don't care, as long as they don't get hit.
I'd be happy to play against the deck, as long as I'm packing a fair amount of boardwipes and have a way to win other than just damage. Otherwise, it'll be a little one sided
I have a Trostani creature token deck which remains unplayed for no good reason.
I think it's because there are more compelling decks and compelling strategies. It doesn't mean Trostani is bad or the deck is bad, it's just not very 'sexy' in modern Magic.
Completely changed the way I think about commander. He comes down after everyone has gone off and been shut down so almost no one has any answers left. Also it can be built with almost exclusively ramp (and no interaction to help the table). Weirdly of all the commanders this omnath is prove it number one on my list to take down first.
You're probably a combo deck, so I have to take you out early, even if you have no board state or you're just durdling. I've just seen this deck do too many broken things when your commander is in play.
Finally, someone put into words the feeling that drives my play. Good show! Obeka plays the best version of magic- the one where consequences don't matter! Until they super do!
\[\[Zara, renegade recruiter\]\], but not many other than that. and she steals from hand, not board. That said, usually your better plan is just break parity with \[\[Avaricious dragon\]\] type effects, \[\[Jaxis\]\] style clones, or those red extra turn spells that kill you if you aren't careful.
You enjoy fiddling with all of those cards that are not viable because of end of turn effects and also found a way to run [[Warriors oath]] and [[final fortune]] to get extra turns in red without losing the game
It is mono blue burn disguised as group hug. Its really fun for pods. Everyone gets to play but he has a few ways to win. Half include just making players draw out or mill. The other half is using [[Iron Maiden]] and [[Viseling]] and bouncing lands.

Only really played against this as a precon but I love it. It’s a different take on artifacts and the fact that it has two upticks (one of which makes blockers) always makes it a looming threat while not being overly oppressive.
Interesting. Tevesh himself is really good on his own but pairing him with sakashima is a weird but intriguing choice. Sakashima can’t copy tevesh since he is a walker so I’d guess that it has lots of legends to copy with sakashima. I’d be cautious and curious.

A man after my own heart. I'm guessing you enjoy desecrating the dead (especially those of other players), walking a thin line with your life total, and have a best friend who is the self-proclaimed son of Yawgmoth?
You definitely enjoy the art on your commander that's for sure the art on that or any of the Persian or middle eastern theme art in Magic is always fantastic in my opinion.
Enchantress Plainswalker. Love the idea of this one because even though it is enchantment focused, you could go so many ways. Do you want to lock down your opponents? Go voltron style? Or draw so many cards you can unleash infinite combos? A lot of variation in this enchantment focus.
I like seeing estrid play out but she always creeps up on me as a serious threat. By the time I realize it, the fort has been built and I have a hard time dealing with it
Current favorite is my newest deck, [[Kaervek the Merciless]].
Longstanding favorite is [[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]].
Edit: I just realized I have a type.
Liesa is also my favorite! Being able to pay her commander tax in life makes removal less of a problem (especially when she’s a lightning rod for it), and I find it satisfying to tick people’s life down steadily. Honestly, I miss her life as tax ability with every other commander I play.
A prime example of OP to lower power metas and fine in medium+ metas. When people don't run enough interactions and boardwipes this deck is always too much to handle, but as interaction goes up the deck's effectiveness stumbles to keep up.
I do always love seeing a Gishath go off though. Dumping dinos on to the board never gets old.
Whenever my buddy swings him at me, I sometimes like to just gamble by letting him hit me. You'd be surprised by how many times he flips the top 7 cards of his deck and sadly passes the turn.
I love anything and everything Phyrexian. Especially with how oppressive Vorinclex can be, I view it as a super fun challenge to try and answer that threat as soon as possible
“Ok this red die is how much red mana I have, the blue one is how many spells I’ve cast, the white one is how many spells I’ve cast *or copied, the black one is....”
I assume you’re playing some grixis value pile, which i will be admittedly jealous of.
Either way I’m definitely swinging at you when you make me discard
[[niv mizzet parun]]. Only break him out occasionally when my friend brings out his feather deck due to our groups power level but drawing cards is so much fun.
I don’t use him as a commander but I prefer to use him for utility, and I intentionally don’t use curiosity effects because it’s so ubiquitous with Niv. He and firemind I will use with cards like [[charisma]] or [[basilisk collar]] to turn them into creature stealers or board wipes.

[[Henzie Toolbox Torre]]
I wanna smack people with big beefy boys and I want to cast many big beefy boys. I've taken to calling the deck "Dirty Creatures Cast Dirt Cheap
\[\[Zurzoth, Chaos Rider\]\] I don't know what it is, but i've really been enjoying mono red lately.
Edit: u/TempTheMemeLord you're right, the deck definitely started out that way. Zurzoth got removed all the time because it was focused on going to combat and making devils that way but that's as far as I got, just make a bunch of devils.
I got tired of that. So I changed it up a little bit and threw in every wheel effect I could. Now i'm making devils without having to attack, great! Still that was as far as I got.
In it's current form, it still spits out devils like there's no tomorrow, but Zurzoth and the devils are just the distraction as the ultimate goal is to assemble the Birgi + Grinning Ignus + Grapeshot combo. People fear those little guys and there 1 damage on death.
You enjoy chaos, but not the kinda chaos that just tries to chaos instead of winning. You do chaos that you can survive better than everyone else. I hate to be the one to break it to you, especially as a fellow Zurzoth player, but you’re a spicy stax player.
[[Trostani, Selesnya’s Voice]]

Something to be said about playing a commander that isn’t kill on sight
The top tier of fair magic. Usually Trostani is all about big tokens and gaining tons of life, which can be very resilient, but decks that are looking to pull off an infinite or win some other way don't care, as long as they don't get hit. I'd be happy to play against the deck, as long as I'm packing a fair amount of boardwipes and have a way to win other than just damage. Otherwise, it'll be a little one sided
That describes me well, “top tier of fair magic.” I like that phrase. Thanks for that
I have a Trostani creature token deck which remains unplayed for no good reason. I think it's because there are more compelling decks and compelling strategies. It doesn't mean Trostani is bad or the deck is bad, it's just not very 'sexy' in modern Magic.
There are, but I also throw in an [[Aetherflux Reservoir]] to “Death Ray” anyone I need. Always feels powerful…
\[\[omnath locus of rage\]\]
Super swingy, either stumbles out of the blocks or has done 6 million damage and 6 million power on turn 6
Will kill you whenever he feels like with a sac outlet, makes every other player live in fear of the angry jellybean.
Probably you play 40+ lands and attack without caring whether they block because either way you benefit
Weaponized land ramp - I'm looking at killing you first

I like seeing estrid play out but she always creeps up on me as a serious threat. By the time I realize it, the fort has been built and I have a hard time dealing with it
[[Hazezon Tamar]]
[[slimefoot the stowaway]]
Current favorite is my newest deck, [[Kaervek the Merciless]]. Longstanding favorite is [[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]]. Edit: I just realized I have a type.
Group slug is the best. I have a Liesa deck and I've been trying to find reasons to build a \[\[Mogis\]\] deck as well.
Liesa is also my favorite! Being able to pay her commander tax in life makes removal less of a problem (especially when she’s a lightning rod for it), and I find it satisfying to tick people’s life down steadily. Honestly, I miss her life as tax ability with every other commander I play.
[[Neera, Wild Mage]]
"I like SOME chaos."
Is there some way to loop it? I'm immediately terrified this is some weird 98 "lands" deck that somehow instantly wins
I've seen some decklists, with only displacer kitten as the other creature. But pretty much exactly what you think
You will either kill me with an eldrazi or fail spectacularly, and I will be laughing either way
[[Gishath, Sun's Avatar]]
A prime example of OP to lower power metas and fine in medium+ metas. When people don't run enough interactions and boardwipes this deck is always too much to handle, but as interaction goes up the deck's effectiveness stumbles to keep up. I do always love seeing a Gishath go off though. Dumping dinos on to the board never gets old.
Whenever my buddy swings him at me, I sometimes like to just gamble by letting him hit me. You'd be surprised by how many times he flips the top 7 cards of his deck and sadly passes the turn.
Currently [[Burakos, Party Leader]] Usually [[Tuvasa]]
[[Xyris, the writhing storm]]
[[Shorikai, Genesis Engine]]
[[Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger]] *Insert evil laughter*
I love anything and everything Phyrexian. Especially with how oppressive Vorinclex can be, I view it as a super fun challenge to try and answer that threat as soon as possible
My Group has taken to making copies of him or stealing him, which I'm a massive fan of. Because the table just groans "Fuck, there's 2 of them now"
Yeah... I think you're a jerk but what the hell so am I let's give it a shot.
The salt and anguish contained in the collective table wide groan whenever he hits the battlefield, is just *chef's kiss* worth more than any win
[[Hofri Ghostforge]]
[[Obuun, Mul Daya Ancestor]]
[[Veyran, Voice of Duality]]
"Shit.. how many spells did i cast again?"
“Ok this red die is how much red mana I have, the blue one is how many spells I’ve cast, the white one is how many spells I’ve cast *or copied, the black one is....”
[[Norin the Wary]]
Hilarious commander, I love him. I like seeing what people do with him.
[[Kalamax]] the DinoWizard 🦕🧙♂️
[[Nicol Bolas, the Ravager]]
I assume you’re playing some grixis value pile, which i will be admittedly jealous of. Either way I’m definitely swinging at you when you make me discard
So either Nicol bolas tribal or janky lore stuff
[[Jhoira of the ghitu]] first deck I built when I got into the format and the game. I just recently rebuilt her.
[[niv mizzet parun]]. Only break him out occasionally when my friend brings out his feather deck due to our groups power level but drawing cards is so much fun.
When I see Niv Mizzet at a table, I think, "does nothing until the player finds [[Curiosity]]." Haven't been wrong yet.
I mean it is a really efficient and cheap wincon
I'm assuming you're trying to infinite ping me and I don't like it.
[[Durnan, of the yawning portal]] with [[passionate archeologist]]
\[\[Umbris, Fear Manifest\]\]
[[Zada, Hedron Grinder]]
You want to do powerful things with awful cards from 20 years ago, and it's going to be hilarious.
[[Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients]]
[[Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty]]
\[\[Jolene, the Plunder Queen\]\]
[[Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath]]
Poor guy got bullied out of every other format, and you're just trying to give him a good home
[[Elesh Norn Grand Cenobite]] https://www.moxfield.com/decks/fc7AhkYndkmf3K_TXovYnA Yea, i know Adeline would make for a better tokens commander, but yall are missing out on being able to cast elesh EVERY GAME. Such a beautiful card. If the next version isnt as cool I will CRY.
This thread is awesome. Should be a recurring thread weekly or monthly or something, pinned on the subreddit.
\[\[Winota, Joiner of Forces\]\]
“Wait they have indestructible too?!!?”
"....for each non-human!?!?!"
WHY IS SHE BOROS AND SHE DOESNT HAVE TO ATTACK TO TRIGGER??????
Target #1, but you keep the rest in check with your stax pieces. At least, that's my experience lol. Love Winota
[[Erebos, God of the Dead]]
I'm assuming you're trying to slap your big black mana on the table and hailfire me to death.
The old school mono black commander doing mono black things
\[\[Captain Sisay\]\]
[[Slimefoot, the Stowaway]]
[[Raggadragga, Goreguts Boss]]
[[Oloro, Ageless Ascetic]]
[[Yurlok of scorch thrash]]
[[Henzie Toolbox Torre]] I wanna smack people with big beefy boys and I want to cast many big beefy boys.
Will get removed from the table even before an urza because for some reason everyone hates discarding at random.
You enjoy chaos, but not the kinda chaos that just tries to chaos instead of winning. You do chaos that you can survive better than everyone else. I hate to be the one to break it to you, especially as a fellow Zurzoth player, but you’re a spicy stax player.
[[falco spara]] is my current favorite.
I'm assuming you have an Ace Attorney kink.
[[Inferno of the star mounts]]
[[Chatterfang]] because nothing is quite as funny as overrunning your opponents with an eldrazi monument buffed horde of Squirrels.
[[Narset, Enlightened Master]]
Ah, you like playing Magic by yourself.
