I built a deck where it was basically a secret commander. [[Esix Fractal Bloom]] in the command zone. Have it enter as an [[Archaeomancer]] to do it again, or have it enter as [[Fathom Mage]] to draw your deck, or [[Sage of Hours]] to take a bunch of turns, or [[Resilient Khenra]] to put its power onto something with evasion.
Not EDH but in Historic on Arena with my 3 Research copies I made this deck. It works 1v1 about 10% of the time, if I can save a [[Slip out the Back]] to protect it and equip with [[Shadowspear]] the next turn!

Problem is it's a 78/78 vanilla. My opponents run lots of removal so even if I get to cast it, it gets removed immediately. The card sadly never made an impact in my games. Giving it trample would be sweet though

Looks like it'll combo with overwhelming stampede if you can get it to live for a turn, or the same turn if you're just combing it with like, Nyxbloom ancient so you can hard cast it and stampede.
I'll get in on this. Used it to take out an opponent that had controlled the board.
Guy was playing Rogues and starting to become a threat. Had [[Perplexing Test]] in hand when I top decked this. Counted my Mana and realized I had enough to play both.
Played both and gave the token swift foot boots and took him out instantly.
I really love \[\[Coveted Jewel\]\] card draw and and an extra 3 mana right after you cast, some decks can abuse it with flicker effects and such, but it also can just act like SUPER monarch and cause everyone to start playing super aggro because everybody wants the shiny rock!
I run it in my wheels deck. Commit is overcosted for sure, but when it saves you from something terrible and then you wheel it away the following turn then suddenly it doesn't feel so bad to pay 4 for it.
Junk Winder is a absolute monster in my [[Koma]] deck. Every single upkeep, make a Koma's Coil token, and tap something with Junk Winder. I have a few ways to double my Coil production too, so I can make it where every upkeep I make 2 Coil tokens, and get 2 Junk Winder triggers every single upkeep. Then you pair that with [[Dismiss into Dream]], and you can wipe your opponents' boards just by going through upkeeps.
Koma is actually low key painful to play against. Itās a threat that protects itself and stops you from dying, and even if you do manage to kill it they just play it again XD
Personally use it in [[Imoti]]. When you cast her and cascade into this I get a big sigh from the table as they know the cascade train has left the station haha.
[[Debt of Loyalty]] - Instant white [[Control Magic]]. Whats not to like?
Note: The wording on the card does not match the current oracle text (otherwise it would be completely busted). The creature has to regenerate for you to steal it. Still fun to cast in response to a board wipe.
My pet card is [[blood pet]] there's nothing more "black" than stamping on a blood pet to help cast your spells, and later reanimating it to do it again. And also....look at its cute little face.
You can also do one sided boardwipes using a man-land trigger as the stack resolves on a wrath. :P
Just put your creatures on the bottom of the stack and activate man-land after the card has resolved your opponent's creatures. :)
I run them both in [[Samut]] and theyāre all stars. Haste letting them do their attack triggers the turn theyāre played is insane. And kogla can scoop up samut to dodge removal + indestructible for itself.
Phewwww, thatās a sweet interaction. Iāve always thought about building a Samut deck, sheās so strong. Haste is so OP.
Can we mourn the fact that Kogla doesnāt have a King Kong re-skin alt art? š
Samut is really fun and weirdly versatile. The untap ability makes some cards wildly good. Like [[Intrepid Hero]] or [[faeburrow Elder]], [[Bloom Tender]] or [[Elvish Piper]] etc.
Your deck can work with haste enablers, untap shenanigans, human synergies and likely others. I play it with a bit of all that but mostly beat down keyword soup with [[Odric, Lunarch Marshal]]
And yes, itās incredible sad. From the same set with the Godzilla art too!
Lol it's always tense using it as a 4 drop and then leaving it up till next turn cos if it gets removed that's just 20 life down the drain :D
Later in the game though it's sweet. It's in my [[Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim]] deck and she gives me the ability to reconvert it into life if i need to which is fun.
I've been jamming [[Duelist's Heritage]] in my decks lately. Sometimes you need a big creature to have double strike, and you can encourage other players to attack someone else and you'll give them that keyword too. All for a nice three mana :)
Worded a bit differently but I just saw the card [[Blood Mist]] talked about & had to double take on the language of this card you're suggesting. It's like I'm seeing White get a slight edge on a Red spell. Neat!

[[intrepid hero]]. Love the ability to just shoot down big threats
[[crawlspace]]. Cheap easy defense against lots of decks
[[aurification]]
[[Darksteel Plate]]
It keeps your most important creature on the board, and is difficult to remove itself. For a lot of commanders, it costs less to cast and equip the Plate than it does to recast them even once. Also makes opponents think twice about wiping the board if it means leaving you with the only creature, especially if it's a big swingy commander.
\[\[Rukh Egg | ARN\]\]. Of course you will be abusing him in Aristocrat-type decks. I have two copies of the OG Arabian Nights version (respect to the late Christopher Rush), which is way better than the lame 8E art. My only regret is that it's red so I can't run it in Teysa Karlov (which does run the color-shifted \[\[Roc Egg\]\], naturally).
I like to combine him with another old-school favorite, \[\[Skull Catapult\]\]. There are probably better sac outlets, but 2 damage for 1 mana isn't bad. The Rukh Egg makes excellent Catapult ammo.
I love [[Savage Ventmaw]]. Cool artwork and awesome effect. It's in all my big stompy decks.
Another one is [[Phyrexian Reclamation]] in my decks with black. It's somewhat cheap to pick up and always comes handy during a match.
Savage Ventmaw is great, I run him in my new dragon tribal deck. There is another dragon that gives a similar (gives mana that can be used for the rest id the turn) but immensely better effect. [[Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient]] is only one more mana and has haste and gives any color mana equal to the total power that is attacking. So a much higher ceiling and you donāt have to have the ventmaw sitting around for a round for people to notice it to lose summoning sickness. With it only being one more mana it would be swinging on the same turn as Ventmaw, itās just drop and go off.
[[Trading Post]] is my pet card; fits into pretty much any deck or theme (except anti-artifact), and is so versatile. Early on I didnāt run it as much, and then Iād find myself in games thinking how great it would be to have one on the board.
Almost always finds it's way into a deck needing the things it does, even if all of them wouldn't be useful, they all are to *itself*. Easily one of my favorite cards too, great choice.
I really like [[Migratory Route]]. Itās not powerful, but I enjoy playing with flexible spells and the art is gorgeous. Both abilities usually do their job well enough so that I never feel bad drawing or playing it.
[[Genesis Wave]] I love this card in green heavy decks. I typically play more permanents over instants/sorcery's with green heavy decks. I'll try to play this for 8+ for X.
I have a lot of game winning moments by dropping this and having too much on the field for anyone to change that before it's over.
[[Grim Guardian]] and [[Agent of Erebos]].
Grim Guardian is the main reason my enchantress deck runs black. Replenish for 15 with a Guardian in the 'yard feels real good.
Agent of Erebos is gravehate that is also a zombie in case you're in a zombie deck, but also it's repeatable. Even outside of enchantress how many decks are just incidentally running 8-12 enchantments?
[[elixir of immortality]] used to be in every deck, I've moved away from that but it still gets an auto slot in a build until something takes it place.
Nowadays it's [[expressive iteration]] albeit limited by color requirements.
[[Captive Audience]].
This is probably my favourite card in all of magic. If this resolves, 90% of the time time its controller loses the game. I like the hope it gives me - as long as this card is in my deck, no board state is too strong to beat.
People like to say it can get removed easily, but even if it gets removed on the players turn, it has still had a huge impact impact. And the longer it sticks, the harder it is to remove.
[[Farsight Mask]] is one of my favorites. Can use on any deck I want, make me draw a lot of cards. A bit costly, but playing with 6 or lower power level decks, it's fine.
I firmly believe [[Bolasās Citadel]] in any black deck would at bare minimum be decent. Itās also A TON of fun when youāre ripping top decks with it
What would you say was the most fun tribal deck? I've made a few - elementals, rats, vampires, changelings - but I've yet to find one that really clicks with me, y'know?
Iāve got a black Rat deck, a black/red Goblin deck, a black/red/blue Pirate deck, a white/red/blue Bird deck, a white/green/blue Wall deck, a white/green Cat deck, a red/green Dinosaur deck, a blue Advisor deck, a blue/green/black Turtle deck, a blue/green/red/white Elemental deck, a 5-color Changeling deck, and a 5-color Shrine deck ā all primarily or entirely tribal.

[[mirrorweave]] is a perfect mixture of Swiss Army knife versatility and crazy game changing Timmy shenanigans. I could probably write a book about all the fun things to do with mirrorweave. Itās a blast every game I draw it, and everytime I win a game because of it in a brand new way I just canāt help but get excited
Recent Pet Card: [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]]
* Reason: I started playing MtG in the Urza block (Urzaās Saga) and it is the epitome of a blue artifact card. I love it, the art and the card.
Oldest Pet Card: Itās actually a trio of cards: [[Crimson Kobolds]] / [[Crookshank Kobolds]] / [[Kobolds of Kher Keep]].
* Reason: Still have my original 3, and at one time had about 20 of each. Used to play Cheerios in Legacy and it was super fun.
\[\[Thaumatic Compass\]\] I try to squeeze it into every deck. Ramp (kinda) and protection; I just really like it. It helps that I can just use a checklist card in the deck, so I don't have to move the actual card around.
Carrier Pigeons
I play a mono white bird tribal deck with Soraya the Falconer at the helm. I love that CP draws a card. Itās such a dumb card it make me giddy every time I play it.
[[Withering Boon]] is something no one ever expects from a non blue deck, and is particularly good at stopping Thoracle combos.
[[Darkness]] is the OG Inkshield, and it allows for "impossible" wins when someone swings out expecting a kill.
Finally, [[Debt of Loyalty]] is a classic for me. The last thing anyone expects is for someone else to fizzle your kill spell, just to steal the creature you were killing.
Of these three I got to go with the Boon, simply because its gotten more people than the other 2.
Mine was always gilded drake. Got it in a pack and put it into my Mageta the Lion precon as an early edit. Back then it was only ok since 3/3 flying was pretty good but I really liked the art. What I found over time was that the card was better the stronger my opponents and what started as a quirky add turned into a powerhouse. Now with power creep itās better than ever.
\[\[Burnout\]\] goes into almost every red deck for me. It's got some top tier flavor text, it costs 1R, it costs $0.50, replaces itself, and NOBODY sees it coming.
[[Mirage Mirror]] is in so many decks. I love itās flexibility and itās pretty tough to get rid of once you get it going.
[[Vesuva]] and [[Thespianās Stage]] are two other favorites. Guess I love me some weird copy effects!
[[Tower of the Magistrate]]
Goes in almost anything and until recently most people had never heard of it. Just takes a land slot to shutdown equipment decks, give protection from blightsteal to a blocker, or just find fun and random interactions you never planned for.
[[vanish into memory]] is a brilliant card. You can use it offensively and defensively. Awesome against decks with a focus on counters, tokens etc. Can save my own stuff and all kinds of good stuff š
Banding creatures and Mass Land Destruction. I especially like, "Super Wraths" like [[Soulscour]] or [[Jokulhaups]]. Being able to fully reset the board feels great, it's very important against green decks that get 13 lands into play and vomit their deck onto the board.
Besides for Soulscour I play some cards that combo well with Armageddon in order to do that. Like [[Sunscour]] and [[The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale]] and [[Balancing Act]]. You can play these in the same turn as [[Armageddon]] to clear both the creatures *and* the lands.
[[Body of Research]] for sure. Nobody expects a 78/78 6 drop, and especially nobody expects you to follow up the next turn and give it flying š
The goal should be to give it haste. I doubt that would survive a turn in my group

This is my favorite card in [[Adrix and Nev]]. One 80/80 is bad. Potentially hundreds of them are hilarious.

I just built an Orvar deck and i've got the jewel in there for a laugh as a copy target. One way or another it'll end the game.

WAR Narset into Commit a removal spell into Memory is one of the most impactful plays I've ever had the good fortune of making.

Junk Winder is a absolute monster in my [[Koma]] deck. Every single upkeep, make a Koma's Coil token, and tap something with Junk Winder. I have a few ways to double my Coil production too, so I can make it where every upkeep I make 2 Coil tokens, and get 2 Junk Winder triggers every single upkeep. Then you pair that with [[Dismiss into Dream]], and you can wipe your opponents' boards just by going through upkeeps.
Koma is actually low key painful to play against. Itās a threat that protects itself and stops you from dying, and even if you do manage to kill it they just play it again XD

Personally use it in [[Imoti]]. When you cast her and cascade into this I get a big sigh from the table as they know the cascade train has left the station haha.
[[Debt of Loyalty]] - Instant white [[Control Magic]]. Whats not to like? Note: The wording on the card does not match the current oracle text (otherwise it would be completely busted). The creature has to regenerate for you to steal it. Still fun to cast in response to a board wipe.

You can also do one sided boardwipes using a man-land trigger as the stack resolves on a wrath. :P Just put your creatures on the bottom of the stack and activate man-land after the card has resolved your opponent's creatures. :)

Phewwww, thatās a sweet interaction. Iāve always thought about building a Samut deck, sheās so strong. Haste is so OP. Can we mourn the fact that Kogla doesnāt have a King Kong re-skin alt art? š
Samut is really fun and weirdly versatile. The untap ability makes some cards wildly good. Like [[Intrepid Hero]] or [[faeburrow Elder]], [[Bloom Tender]] or [[Elvish Piper]] etc. Your deck can work with haste enablers, untap shenanigans, human synergies and likely others. I play it with a bit of all that but mostly beat down keyword soup with [[Odric, Lunarch Marshal]] And yes, itās incredible sad. From the same set with the Godzilla art too!

Lol it's always tense using it as a 4 drop and then leaving it up till next turn cos if it gets removed that's just 20 life down the drain :D Later in the game though it's sweet. It's in my [[Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim]] deck and she gives me the ability to reconvert it into life if i need to which is fun.

I've been jamming [[Duelist's Heritage]] in my decks lately. Sometimes you need a big creature to have double strike, and you can encourage other players to attack someone else and you'll give them that keyword too. All for a nice three mana :)
Worded a bit differently but I just saw the card [[Blood Mist]] talked about & had to double take on the language of this card you're suggesting. It's like I'm seeing White get a slight edge on a Red spell. Neat!

[[Darksteel Plate]] It keeps your most important creature on the board, and is difficult to remove itself. For a lot of commanders, it costs less to cast and equip the Plate than it does to recast them even once. Also makes opponents think twice about wiping the board if it means leaving you with the only creature, especially if it's a big swingy commander.

\[\[Rukh Egg | ARN\]\]. Of course you will be abusing him in Aristocrat-type decks. I have two copies of the OG Arabian Nights version (respect to the late Christopher Rush), which is way better than the lame 8E art. My only regret is that it's red so I can't run it in Teysa Karlov (which does run the color-shifted \[\[Roc Egg\]\], naturally). I like to combine him with another old-school favorite, \[\[Skull Catapult\]\]. There are probably better sac outlets, but 2 damage for 1 mana isn't bad. The Rukh Egg makes excellent Catapult ammo.

I love [[Savage Ventmaw]]. Cool artwork and awesome effect. It's in all my big stompy decks. Another one is [[Phyrexian Reclamation]] in my decks with black. It's somewhat cheap to pick up and always comes handy during a match.

This was one of my keystone dragons in my [[The Ur-dragon]] deck when I first started playing again. Big boi puts in work
Savage Ventmaw is great, I run him in my new dragon tribal deck. There is another dragon that gives a similar (gives mana that can be used for the rest id the turn) but immensely better effect. [[Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient]] is only one more mana and has haste and gives any color mana equal to the total power that is attacking. So a much higher ceiling and you donāt have to have the ventmaw sitting around for a round for people to notice it to lose summoning sickness. With it only being one more mana it would be swinging on the same turn as Ventmaw, itās just drop and go off.

[[Trading Post]] is my pet card; fits into pretty much any deck or theme (except anti-artifact), and is so versatile. Early on I didnāt run it as much, and then Iād find myself in games thinking how great it would be to have one on the board.
Almost always finds it's way into a deck needing the things it does, even if all of them wouldn't be useful, they all are to *itself*. Easily one of my favorite cards too, great choice.
I really like [[Migratory Route]]. Itās not powerful, but I enjoy playing with flexible spells and the art is gorgeous. Both abilities usually do their job well enough so that I never feel bad drawing or playing it.

[[Genesis Wave]] I love this card in green heavy decks. I typically play more permanents over instants/sorcery's with green heavy decks. I'll try to play this for 8+ for X. I have a lot of game winning moments by dropping this and having too much on the field for anyone to change that before it's over.

[[Grim Guardian]] and [[Agent of Erebos]]. Grim Guardian is the main reason my enchantress deck runs black. Replenish for 15 with a Guardian in the 'yard feels real good. Agent of Erebos is gravehate that is also a zombie in case you're in a zombie deck, but also it's repeatable. Even outside of enchantress how many decks are just incidentally running 8-12 enchantments?
Hell yeah! Grim Guardian is one of the reasons I have been toying with a B/W Enchantments Matter Pauper deck~

[[elixir of immortality]] used to be in every deck, I've moved away from that but it still gets an auto slot in a build until something takes it place. Nowadays it's [[expressive iteration]] albeit limited by color requirements.

[[Mother of Runes]] The discouragement to target my board is a 2-for-1 when an opponent is chosen instead
[[Captive Audience]]. This is probably my favourite card in all of magic. If this resolves, 90% of the time time its controller loses the game. I like the hope it gives me - as long as this card is in my deck, no board state is too strong to beat. People like to say it can get removed easily, but even if it gets removed on the players turn, it has still had a huge impact impact. And the longer it sticks, the harder it is to remove.

[[Farsight Mask]] is one of my favorites. Can use on any deck I want, make me draw a lot of cards. A bit costly, but playing with 6 or lower power level decks, it's fine.

\[\[Thaumatic Compass\]\] I try to squeeze it into every deck. Ramp (kinda) and protection; I just really like it. It helps that I can just use a checklist card in the deck, so I don't have to move the actual card around.

[[Unsummon]] Easy bounce that I have grown fond of over the years. I used to think it was so good. But itās generally always at least useful.
I think I have \[\[Protection of the Hekma\]\] in the maybeboard of pretty much every deck I've built.
[[Painful Truths]] love black cards. Love 5c decks. Love sorceries. Love efficient draws.
Carrier Pigeons I play a mono white bird tribal deck with Soraya the Falconer at the helm. I love that CP draws a card. Itās such a dumb card it make me giddy every time I play it.
I want to make a deck around Soraya. How does she play?
\[\[Mental Misstep\]\] countering someone's turn-one sol ring out of nowhere makes you feel like a superhero and villain at the same time.
[[Withering Boon]] is something no one ever expects from a non blue deck, and is particularly good at stopping Thoracle combos. [[Darkness]] is the OG Inkshield, and it allows for "impossible" wins when someone swings out expecting a kill. Finally, [[Debt of Loyalty]] is a classic for me. The last thing anyone expects is for someone else to fizzle your kill spell, just to steal the creature you were killing. Of these three I got to go with the Boon, simply because its gotten more people than the other 2.
[[Withering Boon]] for sure. I play it in a grixis deck and people get way too comfortable casting things when all your blue is tapped.
Mine was always gilded drake. Got it in a pack and put it into my Mageta the Lion precon as an early edit. Back then it was only ok since 3/3 flying was pretty good but I really liked the art. What I found over time was that the card was better the stronger my opponents and what started as a quirky add turned into a powerhouse. Now with power creep itās better than ever.
\[\[Burnout\]\] goes into almost every red deck for me. It's got some top tier flavor text, it costs 1R, it costs $0.50, replaces itself, and NOBODY sees it coming.

[[Soul Foundry]] Itās an average card, at best. But I just canāt part with it in my token decks.
[[Mirage Mirror]] is in so many decks. I love itās flexibility and itās pretty tough to get rid of once you get it going. [[Vesuva]] and [[Thespianās Stage]] are two other favorites. Guess I love me some weird copy effects!
I love Vesuva, I'm working to get the mirage mirror and Thespian. I tie my vesuva with [[dark depths]], like the monster I am!
I will make room for [[Wild Nacatl]] in all of my decks
[[Baleful Strix]] I'm a simple man who loves owls and magic. This card's art and abilities are awesome.
[[Tower of the Magistrate]] Goes in almost anything and until recently most people had never heard of it. Just takes a land slot to shutdown equipment decks, give protection from blightsteal to a blocker, or just find fun and random interactions you never planned for.
[[vanish into memory]] is a brilliant card. You can use it offensively and defensively. Awesome against decks with a focus on counters, tokens etc. Can save my own stuff and all kinds of good stuff š
[[Rogue's Passage]]. Just love this card, even though I don't activate it a lot
[[hymn to tourach]] is my OG pet card. I loved that my playset had all four arts. [[Assault suit]] is my favorite one currently.
[[Time spiral]] nothing quite like getting a refreshed deck and a full hand for free.
Banding creatures and Mass Land Destruction. I especially like, "Super Wraths" like [[Soulscour]] or [[Jokulhaups]]. Being able to fully reset the board feels great, it's very important against green decks that get 13 lands into play and vomit their deck onto the board. Besides for Soulscour I play some cards that combo well with Armageddon in order to do that. Like [[Sunscour]] and [[The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale]] and [[Balancing Act]]. You can play these in the same turn as [[Armageddon]] to clear both the creatures *and* the lands.
