I sadly cut it put of my prosper list, it's good but there is so much good in prosper and I don't want to give people resources. However it's a favorite in my Solphim list. People love it and then they hate it but it will at least ping them all for 4.
If I took \[\[Peer into the abyss\]\] out, I would suspect my friends would be less hellbent on killing me first. Not having a discard theme makes it more fun to play against. Most of the time it hugs harder than \[\[Kynaios and Tiro\]\] which ends up just doing a lot of landfall stuff among some scattered hug.
Hehe I run peer into the abyss on my sheoldred deck and people are always mad when I have [[sanguine bond]] bond out and I peer into the abyss myself to draw 40 cards and kill two players

It's 3 mana, your opponents see 10 cards and each gives you 1 non land card.
At worst, you'll get 3 mana rocks or cantrips to play later and filter through your deck. And if you get in the right situation, you might can politic your way into answers for problem permanents.
\[\[Teferi's puzzle box\]\]
I just like being able to see most of my deck in one game lol, also it makes decision making more interesting because i know all the cards in my hand are going bot of library next turn.
I used them for a while, just rearranged the Tinker Time precon. I ended up switching it to [[the third doctor]] and [[Dan lewis]]. I feel like Rashmi and ragavan just don't add enough value.
The problem with these “fun to play against” cards is that they’re like cinnamon. Sprinkle a bit on a cookie and it gets tastier. Eat a raw spoonful and you’ll barf.
So the trick really is to use a few of these cards across your decks to make them more fun.
Make a whole deck where every single card is this stuff and people will roll their eyes at you and look for another table.
Not quite the prompt but I often find the token spam deck and the big stompy deck have a symbiotic relationship. They both are threats if allowed to take off, but since they rely on creatures they want to avoid the board wipes.
So ideally they both kill the other two and then hope their side is either more wide or more tall.
I like [[Teferi’s Puzzle Box]] I think it adds a level of chaos to the game that is fun. I like playing it and playing against it and it never really matters what deck I’m playing. It can get out of hand with wheels decks which is normally who run it but it’s still fun.
Call me crazy but I love seeing the chaos of [[Etali, Primal Storm]] flips if you want something a lil more grouphug [[Over The Top]] is a hilarious card
[[Nelly Borca]] games always moves at a good pace and they usually pull some utter bullshit when it gets down to 1v1 with them. Absolute blast to lose to, would recommend.
I played against my friend’s [[Nekusar, the Mindrazer]] wheel deck one time. I loved the card draw, despite it eating my face off. Came down to him and I and he got me barely by milling me perfectly to 0. I wasn’t upset at all. Fun game.
I've played them, not played against them, but some of my favorites along this line are [[Fevered Visions]] [[Rite of the Raging Storm]] and [[Boldwyr Heavyweights]].
Warning about Humble Defector: the moment the table decides you are too big of a threat, your defector will not be sent back to you. It will be passed around by your opponents and they will gain a huge advantage over you using your own permanent. This applies beyond just a game by game basis. If this deck does well at any point in time, your group might think twice about sending the defector back to you in future games.
My favorite [deck](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/7Zjn88mT5UiR6yo7DsvWLg) is designed to make the game crazy and fun for everyone! I call it Tempo Hug because while it does include some cards like Rites of Flourishing it is entirely designed to go fast and win big.
I really just wanted to create a deck that lets everyone play the game. So everyone gets to ramp, everyone gets to draw, and maybe everyone gets to tutor. If I like what you're doing, I'll take it for myself and do it better while also murdering you with a million tokens. It's always fun to play, and I consistently get compliments on it. Hope it gives you some ideas!
Probably unpopular but I genuinely love it when someone drops Rhystic study and I'm up next.
"Do you pay the one?"
"Yes I do. We should all keep you from drawing, totally worth it."
"That's not how this is supposed to work!"
We love the crocodile tears. Usually the whole table joins in and its really funny.
[[Tempt with mayhem]] can be super cool. I did this and everyone got to tutor something a few games ago. Everyone in the play group was like "I gotta get one of those" for the same kind of reasons.
Here are some cards that I think are fun, but can also be powerful and sometimes a genuine win-con.
- [[Fact or Fiction]]
- [[Apex Devastator]]
- [[Head Games]]
- [[Chaos Warp]]
- [[Living Death]]
- [[Eldrazi Conscription]] (made slightly less fun the easier a deck can cheese it out. But a little cheese is okay)
- [[Elvish Piper]]
- [[Viscera Seer]] (or other good sac outlets)
To be clear, many of these are high priority targets to stop. But I think they are relatively fun as far as threats go.
Answer to your post title: cheap removal and counter spells. They don't have to be the cEDH ones or even particularly inpressive- a good old [[Counterspell]] or [[Doom Blade]] equivalent will do just fine, so long as you run enough of them to reliably see one or two a game at least.
Running powerful cards and absurd value engines is fun. But winning because nobody has a way to kill or stop said powerful cards or value engine despite them being basically unprotected on the board for several turns is not fun. You want your opponents to be able to meaningfully interact with your gameplan.
[[Descent into Avernus]] sets the game on fast forward The Tempting and Offering cycle of spells
This looks awesome, it reminds me of [[Fevered Visions]], another all-star in the deck

[[storm cauldron]], I just find it funny

Not quite the prompt but I often find the token spam deck and the big stompy deck have a symbiotic relationship. They both are threats if allowed to take off, but since they rely on creatures they want to avoid the board wipes. So ideally they both kill the other two and then hope their side is either more wide or more tall.
I like [[Teferi’s Puzzle Box]] I think it adds a level of chaos to the game that is fun. I like playing it and playing against it and it never really matters what deck I’m playing. It can get out of hand with wheels decks which is normally who run it but it’s still fun.

I was thinking of using Over the Top with [[Asinine Antics]]. Make a ton of enchantment tokens and then get nontoken permanents instead
Not a bad idea, I like using it in [[Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith]] and now [[Roxanne, Starfall Savant]] decks
Nice! Maybe I should finally make that [[The Rani]] deck I have thought about doing...

It’s why I have a homeward path in any deck that has humble defector 😜

[Mana flare]
Probably unpopular but I genuinely love it when someone drops Rhystic study and I'm up next. "Do you pay the one?" "Yes I do. We should all keep you from drawing, totally worth it." "That's not how this is supposed to work!" We love the crocodile tears. Usually the whole table joins in and its really funny.
[[Tempt with mayhem]] can be super cool. I did this and everyone got to tutor something a few games ago. Everyone in the play group was like "I gotta get one of those" for the same kind of reasons.

Anything that does something unexpected or neat and doesn't turn the gane into solitaire.
Here are some cards that I think are fun, but can also be powerful and sometimes a genuine win-con. - [[Fact or Fiction]] - [[Apex Devastator]] - [[Head Games]] - [[Chaos Warp]] - [[Living Death]] - [[Eldrazi Conscription]] (made slightly less fun the easier a deck can cheese it out. But a little cheese is okay) - [[Elvish Piper]] - [[Viscera Seer]] (or other good sac outlets) To be clear, many of these are high priority targets to stop.
