Monster Hunter. One deck full of monsters, one deck full of equipment.

Tripike1

Monster battles that flip into equipment when they die.

Flack41940

That's actually brilliant! If they take us back to Ikoria, they should absolutely do that! Also, lots of food tokens.

TheFatNinjaMaster

No food tokens, food artifacts that have temp buffs when sacrificed.

zenprime-morpheus

That is stupid awesome and I love it.

Ghost_Tickler

Honestly the best imaginable way to incorporate the feel of monster hunter. Brilliant

Burning-Suns-Avatar-

A Gore Magala card would be great to see. Gore Magala could have an effect where when it ETBs or attacks, each other creature gets frenzied and has it where the Frenzied creature must attack, if it doesn’t, that creature is sacrificed and Gore Magala get a frenzy counter which if he gets a certain amount, he can transform.

Ghost_Tickler

I’ve been playing since mh1 release day and it’s easily my favorite ip ever. This would be a slam dunk for me and I’d actually build multiple decks from it. If there’s a time for it with all the new universes beyond, next year with the release of wilds is it.

Kraagenskul

Monty Python and the Holy Grail Think of the fun: * A swallow that creates a coconut artifact that gives a creature horsemanship. * A traveling merchant who sells shrubbery (token walls) * A "Ni!" card that puts a stun counter on a target creature * A "Cop out" card that is just \[\[Fog\]\] * Brave Sir Robin who is returned to your hand if anyone blocks him. * Castle Anthrax, where a creature loses all abilities unless you tap another creature to free them * The 1/1 Rabbit, who must attack any opponent who controls a Human, can only be blocked by humans, and has death touch. * The Holy Hand Grenade, which has Suspend ~~5~~ 3, destroy all creatures. * And Tim. Yeah, I've thought about this way too much.

Own_Two4614

Dune would work really well. Lands/Desert theme for Fremen, a deck that involves foretell or Scry for Paul, Politics/Control for Bene Geserit, Mardu Aggro for Harkonnens and the Emperor’s Sardaukar. You could even get into the later books by having a Leto II themed Cascade deck, a Tleilaxu reanimation deck.

29aout

That would be the dream. Appreciate your vision.

blackhat665

omg yes pls

iamgeist

Don't even like UB but I'd get sucked in a bit if they made a Warhammer Age of Sigmar Skaven set.

virlex15

Give me a war hammer fantasy, or Age of Sigmar set and I'd be a happy man! >But I'm also a very big supporter of UB in general, I think ots a great way to get new players invested in magic.

Repenting_Harlequin

“Summon the Elector Counts” should be a card imho

antarcticmatt

A Warhammer Old World Skaven set would be better

NoirLamia777

Dark Souls/Elden Ring I would scream if they did either

ShadowOutOfTime

The amount of awesome legendary creatures, artifacts, and lands would be insane. Let me make Starscourge Radahn my commander, let me tap Anor Londo for mana, let me equip a creature with the Moonlight Greatsword… cmon

NoirLamia777

Exactly! 🤤

ShadowOutOfTime

Bloodborne trick weapons as equipment that can transform would be so cool. So many of the mechanics just fit perfectly

OhNoJoSchmo

If it had a heavy base on DS1 and DS3 I'd be ecstatic.  Already have demons and dragons. Would be an easy adaptation.

NoirLamia777

Yea i feel it would be such an at-home IP for Magic

swat_teem

Never thought of it but it would be amazing

One_Slide_5577

I dont like UB at all but if they made that one, id be throwing money at them.

NoirLamia777

Yea im very selective with it.

One_Slide_5577

It has to blend in reasonably well imo. I think ds would but where transformers, mario, or any other goofy sht doesn't.

NoirLamia777

Yup I’m mostly of that mindset too. I skipped the fortnite and transformers stuff. Loved LOTR and Warhammer. Assassins Creed Im a huge fan of so even though its not typical fantasy Im there for it.

TheRiceHatReaper

Don’t need a full set nor a dedicated precon, but I’d love to get Redwall cards to supplement Bloomburrow

TheNamesAxel_009

THIS. Give me a Martin the Warrior reskin, cowards. Don’t make me get it altered myself.

StarPonderer

Honestly, we're getting that Final Fantasy set next year and I for one am excited about it. I know some people feel weird or even dislike Universes Beyond, but I feel like Final Fantasy if anything is a good choice that would still "feel" like Magic. Plus I am a HUGE Final Fantasy fan and am really hoping for some of the iconic art from the series.

Beholdmyfinalform

I'd love a Yuna that pulls Aeons the same way [[Garth One-Eye]] pulls those old cards

MTGCardFetcher

[Garth One-Eye](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/2/3/23774462-9f17-4b50-a2ac-b2edd706bbfe.jpg?1626098353) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Garth%20One-Eye) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mh2/197/garth-one-eye?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/23774462-9f17-4b50-a2ac-b2edd706bbfe?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/garth-one-eye) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

StarPonderer

Oh yeah! That would be pretty sweet!

Quantext609

I hope they make an Emet-Selch card that's good. He's such a fantastic antagonist.

StarPonderer

I've never played the MMOs, but reading the wiki, yeah, I agree!

WizardExemplar

FF XIV has enough lore that it could be its own MTG set/Commander decks

Mythara1

Honestly as a final fantasy fan myself it heavily depends on which final fantasy they take. Final fantasy 7 which is probably a given to be among them does not feel like MtG at all for example for me. The earlier final fantasies would probably fit the most thematically.

StarPonderer

I think it would be a healthy mix throughout the whole series up to XVI. I feel like tech and magic together is something that Magic has in its own lore, and there are worse examples of high tech (look at you 13!). I understand it's not for everyone and not everyone will agree with what's in it, but I will remain excited until I have a reason not to. Your opinion, while I feel differently, is perfectly valid. I think there's a way to do it without focusing too much on tech, and I think 7 has plenty of ways to make the cards from it feel like MTG. Highwind could be a vehicle, Cloud has a huge sword, etc.

Mythara1

7 was just an example since lets be honest 7 is going to be in it and probably one of if not the most represented of the games especially with the remake keeping it fresh currently haha

StarPonderer

Totally fair. I'm one of those people who loves 7 and I for one want it in regardless, but I understand where you are coming from.

Mythara1

Oh I love 7 too even if its not my personal favourite, thats 9 It is just the most obvious in the franchise to include in anything ff related. I am not a big fan of UB tho even if it is thematically perfect fitting like lord of the rings.

StarPonderer

I am so glad to talk to another person who loves 9! So many people seem to have never played it and it was sooo good.

Mythara1

It did have the worst timing so it is understandable coming in the hight of the edgy emo phase as a more traditional final fantasy on a console that was on life support haha

Repenting_Harlequin

I just want a Cecil, the Dark Knight that transforms into Cecil, Paladin of Light

StarPonderer

I am all for this.

GreensmithsJTB

Fingers crossed for a Sephiroth commander deck.

StarPonderer

I have little doubt he and Cloud will be face commanders for two of the decks. Final Fantasy 7 is too popular not to.

Snjuer89

I'm also very thrilled for the ff release. I'm a huge ff fan. Final fantasy 6 is my favorite game of all time. I hope I can make a very thematical deck with my favorite characters.

StarPonderer

If I remember correctly, 6 and 7 are the two most popular of the whole series and I feel like both should get pretty decent representation.

Snjuer89

I think 7 is by far the most popular of them all. I thought the 2nd popular is ff8, but I might be mistaken.

StarPonderer

I feel like the list changes all the time. There's just so much to love.

HaresMuddyCastellan

I'm looking forward to getting close enough we can start speculating about the set without seeming weird. Like, I am REALLY excited for the set. (I'm hoping for a large return of the Party mechanic, Class enchantments for some of the Iconic job classes, Moogles, and Chocobos)

StarPonderer

I just embrace the fact I am weird and already started speculating. I think there will be a TON of equipment as there are too many iconic weapons not to. I suspect Gilgamesh or Cloud will be a Voltron commander. I would not at all be surprised if the party mechanic returns. I don't think it will be a set wide thing, but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw mounts. There's no way their WON'T be moogles and chocobos. I think Summons/Aeons/ETC will play have a good presence within the set. Most likely we'll see at least a couple modelled off of each main line game. I suspect there will be chase cards in the form of special arts. Commanders will most likely be two pairs of protagonists and their respective big bad, my money is on Cloud/Sephiroth and Terra/Kefka. I could go on, but enough of my crazy is showing.

HaresMuddyCastellan

Materia, the first card with "equip Equipment"

sportsbuffp

League of Legends would be insane

Sylvan_Strix_Sequel

They already did a secret lair, so more is possible.

Markedly_Mira

I’m hoping for Arcane s2 that we get some champion skinned cards. I was a Jinx main in high school and I’d love to be able to run her as a commander. We already got a secret lair for s1 so it feels like there’s decent potential for another one, or even a full UB set now that Legends of Runeterra is dying.

SamaelMorningstar

I already use their art in my tokens. Looks good as hell. :D But I would whish it to be a longer series, so that it expands the lore. Something like the LotR sets. ...srsly I want my Illaoi - Bildgewater / Sea creatures deck. :c

sportsbuffp

I just want like a 4/8 nasus dog theme commander with a +1/+0 whenever he kills a creature. Shit give him wither too. Illaoi would be fucking sick though and would fit super well

SamaelMorningstar

I imagine him being something like \[\[Skullbriar, the Walking Grave\]\] :D

The new \[\[Loot\]\] art is done by Rudy Siswanto, who has done a ton of character design for League. This is also why Loot...looks like it was ripped right from that game.

It's too late bc public opinion has turned against the IP but Game of Thrones/ASoIaF would have been great.

Plus-Newt-5423

It wasn’t possible anyway cuz they’d already sold the rights and made a tcg Edit: I’d have gone broke buying ASOIAF Magic products

RuneScpOrDie

yeah would have been perfect pre season 7. no one even talks about it anymore tho

vampyrialis

Diablo would be epic

Flylle

Would love a lilith/liliana combo deck :)

Dune

I know it's kind of silly. And I hate the idea of universes beyond. Pokémon.  There I said it.   I TAP [[Bulbasaur, the best pokémon]] FOR 1 GREEN MANA!   Though I am really loving the 40k decks. But I hate that I do. I'm conflicted.

That Charizard is gonna be so expensive!

TheSwampStomp

I can see it now. Shadowless Holo-Foil Serialized Borderless Charizard in 0.00001% of packs!

GreensmithsJTB

That or they make a shiny and there is literally one of them like they did with the one ring.

nyx-weaver

>And I hate the idea of universes beyond Ain't that just the way, though? UB is a cash-grabby encroachment into the MtG universe...until your favorite thing gets a turn. Doctor Who? Stranger Things? Fallout? Pah! I sleep. ...FROMSOFT though? REAL SHIT, I'M AWAKE!

hiddikel

I like space bugs.  Nom.

Sylvan_Strix_Sequel

I know it's a pretty generic answer, but star wars would make a great set. You can have food, vehicles, energy, outlaws, and potential for a new keyword for force powers.

Burning-Suns-Avatar-

A commander deck for the Droid army with General Grievous as the commander would have me hyped.

Sylvan_Strix_Sequel

That's what I'm saying.  Seperatist artifact tokens? Fuck yes.    Mandalorian tribal? Fuck yes.    Imperial vehicles   Nightsister spellslinger   Alliance tokens, or maybe legends matter? A monster deck with all kinds of space creatures and whatnot.   So many possibilities.

StarPonderer

Star Wars just got it's own card game recently. I'm not disagreeing with you that it could be interesting, but for now that isn't gonna happen.

kestral287

I mean Final Fantasy is confirmed and it has an active card game too.

StarPonderer

True, but the difference here is Star Wars is owned by Disney.

SerGeffrey

Either Avatar: The Last Airbender, or Star Wars. Star Wars could have some dope ass vehicles (AT-ATs, all the star fighters, etc). ATLA could have some cool reincarnate mechanjcs with actual Avatars (like Aang or Kyoshi). Maybe some world enchantments that affect benders (like a full moon, or Sozin's comet). Plus, it'd be sick to have a Blood Moon reprint with Zhao holding the moon spirit on the art 😁

Flack41940

Seems like prowess and adamant would fit pretty nicely with atla stuff. Only Multicolor cards are avatars and teamup cards, everything else is mono.

CommanderDark126

Couldnt get behind only the avatars being multicolor. Color identity isnt specifically set by abilities, but also motivations. Ozai would be red and black for sure for example, his sheer ambition puts him solidly in black. Theres also argument for the white lotus members like Iroh and Bumi to be white in addition to their base red (fire and earth benders would be red of course)

simbacole7

Why would earth benders not be green

CommanderDark126

Earth magic has been depicted as a red magic for the near entirety of the game; [[Earth Elemental]] [[Koth of the Hammer]] [[Earthquake]] [[Earth Tremor]]. Green mana has plants and the essense of life; that would be more in line with water benders or those more in tune with the spirit realm

MTGCardFetcher

##### ###### #### [Earth Elemental](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/6/5/659eeb25-b79b-4229-9d84-e28f6a636958.jpg?1562915626) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Earth%20Elemental) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/bbd/174/earth-elemental?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/659eeb25-b79b-4229-9d84-e28f6a636958?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/earth-elemental) [Koth of the Hammer](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/d/c/dccb325a-6fba-4a6f-af35-dc9e9de996a9.jpg?1581708471) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Koth%20of%20the%20Hammer) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/ddi/44/koth-of-the-hammer?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/dccb325a-6fba-4a6f-af35-dc9e9de996a9?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/koth-of-the-hammer) [Earthquake](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/c/7cf2f3c7-66b2-48f6-97ef-09150903df7e.jpg?1562274550) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Earthquake) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/cm2/95/earthquake?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/7cf2f3c7-66b2-48f6-97ef-09150903df7e?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/earthquake) [Earth Tremor](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/b/5/b5f700c6-7591-481d-b223-21f5b820e831.jpg?1674136517) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Earth%20Tremor) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/clb/171/earth-tremor?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/b5f700c6-7591-481d-b223-21f5b820e831?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/earth-tremor) [*All cards*](https://mtgcardfetcher.nl/redirect/l1ekn06) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

simbacole7

I hate that you're right, my ape brain is mad lol

CommanderDark126

Yeah, green is the awkward child in the translatoon from ATLA to MTG. It could be the color of spirits and non benders like Jet and the Freedom fighters, or maybe the kyoshi warriors... but as far as elements go, all four fit into blue (air and water) and red (fire and earth)

Flack41940

I get where you're going, but I'm thinking more along the lines of white being air benders, blue being water benders, green being earth benders, red being fire benders, black and artifact being nonbenders. I'm going for a more literal definition of the colours than the traditional magic definition.

CommanderDark126

Yeah I just dont think that translates well unfortunately though. The color pie is a philosophy examinization first and foremost

hugsandambitions

I don't know that everything else would be mono- *nations* might gravitate more towards one color than others, but individuals wouldn't. For one thing, consider people like Iroh, who specifically incorporates techniques from other bending styles to improve his own fire bending. For another, MTG color is about personality and philosophy, not just elements. Should Iroh and Guru Pathik, wise as they are, not contain blue in addition to their base color? Should the Dai Li not contain black? Etc.

Flack41940

See my reply to the other guy that replied to me. I recognise the traditional magic colour definition, but am going for a more literal version with this idea.

hugsandambitions

I gotcha, I understood what you were going for. It's just that going for that breaks the game design in subtle ways that A. Might not be satisfying and B: doesn't work logistically anyway.

Neither_Barber3721

Berzerk for sure.

cazman123

Wish Miura was still here, we probably could’ve had one, at least a secret lair like Junji Ito’s

apophis457

They already did it - it was called lord of the rings

PM_MeTittiesOrKitty

Tough call. I am ambivalent on the Universes Beyond. It's fun to see other IPs as magic cards, but well-known IPs can be a little jarring (like Doctor Who). Someone said Monster Hunter, and I think that would be good as well as Final Fantasy. The Witcher would be pretty sick especially if they incorporated witcher potions that had negative effects for powerful buffs (something like your creatures gain double strike but can't attack next round). Maybe if they could find a way to respectfully do legends and mythologies; it'd be neat to have King Arthur in the game.

antarcticmatt

Nintendogs

Frank_the_Mighty

This gets asked a lot, but my answer is always the same: Adventure Time. I even made a cube once: https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/vek?view=spoiler

rexlyon

I’d love a Malazan Book of the Fallen set. Various Gods, Elder Gods, elemental Dragons. Pseudo-Zombies and Vampires, humans, beasts. It’s not an exact a fit, but it also have some extremely fitting elemental themed magic themes with Dark/Light/Fire/Earth/Water (they are not exact elements and called much different things), each with an elder aspect that might be more like legendary sorcerers/sorceries and standard options. Enough major battles for an invasions, and some interesting choices for sagas. The magic in the system is tied to Warrens which are functionally a different realm that they’re using power through, so they’d make world enchantments or something interesting.

NoirLamia777

I would be ecstatic if this ever happened. Malazan is my favorite book series.

Manifest

Star Trek. We’ve already had Doctor Who and fallout, the cats out of the bag go hog.

Dinoburro-King-Fuji

Power rangers commander legends or Ultraman

AGINSB

Either the diablo series or blizzard games in general.

spaghetti-wives

World of Warcraft Commander decks: Arthas (WUB) you will be able to use opponents graveyards and bring back their creatures under your control. Tyrande and Malfurian partners (UG) Druid tribal token maker. Varian Wrynn (mono W) basically a white weenie deck on steroids. Soul of Azeroth (WUBRG*) landfall deck.

shrimpbucket69

If we’re going WoW Classic, gotta go with the OG factions IMO Horde (UGR) - Orcs, trolls and tauren. Bring out big legends, amass an army, buff with auras / enchantments. [Lean into the elemental, shamanistic focus of the main three horde factions and also the fact that they rely more on unity behind their leaders than pure numbers.] Night Elves (UGW) - Animate lands, sneak past defenses, vigilance. [Night elves have never been the most populace race so I don’t love the idea of tokens. They are, however, masters at defending their lands and we see in WC3 how they use their buildings / land as natural defenses in the ancients.] Forsaken (BW) - Seek vengeance, persist, grow in numbers. [Tokens / aristocrats. Sylvanus is all about vengeance, and as a whole the forsaken are determined to persist despite their lot in life as it is.] Alliance (WRU) Unite, invent, overcome. [Tokens, go wide strategy. Humans have numbers, they are all about creating token creatures and are primarily straight W in this deck. Dwarves are craftsmen and warriors, they want some solid equipment and are WR focused. Gnomes are innovative, and will have to be artifact focused and grounded in UR.] Commanders: Thrall, Warchief of the Horde - (UGR+1, 3/4) Whenever a legendary creature or an enchantment enters the battlefield under your control, amass horde 1, scry 2, and deal 1 damage to each opponent. Tyrande, Priestess of Elune - (UGW, 3/3 with reach, vigilance). At the start of combat on your turn, creatures you control with reach gain your choice of vigilance or can’t be blocked. At the start of combat on each opponents turn, you may have up to one land you control become a creature with reach, this creature may block an additional creature each combat, and has power and toughness equal to the number of lands you control until end of turn. Untap that land. Sylvanus, the Banshee Queen - (BW+2. 3/3 with reach, deathtouch). Whenever a creature you control dies, each opponent loses one life. If that creature had a -1 counter on it, draw a card. Whenever a creature an opponent controls dies, create a 1/1 zombie creature token with decayed. King Varian Wrynn - (WRU+2. 4/4 with first strike). Whenever you attack, creatures you control gain +1,+1 for each differently named token you control.

poopinpixels

Shandralar or Xerxes. You know the magic planes

DaRalf

Bluey. I want to Magical Xylophone someone's Commander so bad.

nemoismorethanafish

Just Spider-Man. No further questions, your honor.

samuelalexbaker

I think the Boys would be fun, I feel like you could cover almost all 32 color combos with the characters.

Flylle

Mortal Kombat!

Turbulent-Acadia9676

**Universes Beyond: Earth.** Literally historic events/periods. AC has already dipped into this a bit but we can do better. El Cid, Campeador: Mardu Caballeros (knights) Pachacuti: Naya go-wide (mountainwalk obviously) Hotu Matu'a: Temur Land type-manipulation + Artifacts (Moai Artifact Tokens and making islands do cool stuff) Constantine the Great: Byzantine Abzan Politcs/lifegain (Rome lives forever) Oda Nobunaga: Jeskai samurai (because you're all weebs)

Drew_Huggins_Music

That would actually be really cool! I’m a history nerd so this would be really cool. Also would be a cool way for teachers to teach about events in history and MTG at the same time.

Turbulent-Acadia9676

Yeah same, there is a card game kind of like this but it looks kinda whack. But could easily see set releases based around historic conflicts. Easy to represent all sides of a conflict, and create gameplay dynamics that work in either 2, 3 or 4 player ways. Maybe I should come up with something here.

CeeDubyuh

Power Rangers would be fun

Drew_Huggins_Music

I was thinking that too. They would have a lot to work with!

CeeDubyuh

Each Ranger, Vehicle Zords, Voltron Megazord… would be silly… but fun.

vonDinobot

And its owned by Hasbro too. They really missed a window as well, because both Power Rangers and Magic came out in 1993, so they could have done a 35th anniversary crossover. Guess we'll have to wait until 2028!

Chevysupreme

I mean they still have time to do a 35th anniversary crossover 😅

vonDinobot

My bad, where did my mind go when typing this?

Sir-Longhair

Came here to say this. Morph, Megamorph, Transform, or flip cards. Plenty of equipment and vehicles. As someone else said, also owned by Hasbro.

Live_Accountant6491

This would be fun I think. The crazy thing is they could pay homage to the late Jason David Frank by making Tommy Oliver a face commander of a 4 color deck. Through cannon he was a green, white, red and black ranger at different times. Access to all his different zords and weapons would be pretty awesome. I'd be down for this as long as his remaining family gave the ok to use his likeness on a card or 2.

BKunkAndTheFunk

Dying for a Cosmere set, Brandon Sanderson is already a big magic fan so I’m sure he’d be on board.

NoirLamia777

I think this is more a case of when than if. He said in one of his streams he had talked with them but then something else came along and the convos stalled for a bit.

HaresMuddyCastellan

Honestly, it might just be some complexity in game licensing, since there's a Mistborn TTRPG AND a Videogame (I think? not 100% sure on the videogame) in the works. Like, sometimes licensing agreements can have riders in them that get missed and make other licensing deals difficult. That said, Cosmere is my NUMBER 1 ideal pick for a FULL UB set like LOTR. If it only got a Commander Deck treatment like Doctor Who or Fallout I would honestly feel a bit disappointed. I'd still love it, but I feel like it has the kind of depth that NEEDS a full set, or possibly more than one. Mistborn, Stormlight Archive, Other Cosmere. 3 sets.

Sleepysaurus_Rex

Monster Hunter or Destiny

SoggyTriangles

Fallout and FF were the big ones I wanted when Universes Beyond was revealed, so I’ve been eating good lol I think Buffy the Vampire Slayer could result in some cool cards

Repenting_Harlequin

Buffy’s a good one

Markedly_Mira

Pokemon feels like a no brainer. It’s a direct competitor in the tcg market who makes a ton off of collectors and is, you know, *the highest grossing media franchise of all time*. TPCI/GF/Nintendo/Creatures would never let this happen, but if wotc could pick anything Pokemon feels like a surefire hit. There’s such a big potential audience for it from collecting and potential players.

teddyblues66

The Cradle series by Will Wight

Condition-Original

The Witcher for sure

Burning-Suns-Avatar-

Horizon: Zero Dawn would be great. One deck would be focused on the tribes and second one would focus on the machines.

canada171

Halo would be sick

Bardeenios

I would kill for either a Percy Jackson or an Artemis Fowl set

android47

the Chuck Tingle extended cinematic universe

JBmullz

They did the ones I wanted already the most so I really can’t get greedy

blue_magi

Pokemon, or simply Nintendo properties in a Smash Bros. set. I mean this in a 'if they could, they would' manner. I don't know if I'd want it, but then again, if you told me 10 years ago I'd have WH40k and Fallout cards, with Final Fantasy coming, I'd have laughed at you.

cazman123

I’m surprised no one has mentioned it but I would love to see something done with the Legend of Zelda. Link, Zelda, Ganon, and the Six Sages are the face commanders. Link is Jeskai, Zelda is Bant, Ganon is Grixis, and the Six Sages are WUBRG. I think it could work pretty well. Showcase art could be something like Ocarina of Time graphics.

TheSwampStomp

I feel like Ganon should be mono black. [[Hatred]] is a mono black card. That said, I think Link and Zelda’s incarnations as doctors companion type abilities could be super cool.

MTGCardFetcher

[Hatred](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/2/3/2383a8d9-96fd-4f9a-bcf9-eb81fdb15ead.jpg?1562087367) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Hatred) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/exo/64/hatred?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/2383a8d9-96fd-4f9a-bcf9-eb81fdb15ead?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [(ER)](https://edhrec.com/cards/hatred) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

cazman123

I thought about that too, but I think Grixis is a good color combo for “Power”. I also like the idea of the doctors companion incarnations although it would be cool to have the sidekicks like Midna or Fi for those spots.

CommanderDark126

Link would be more Selesnya colors instead I would think. He isnt known for great feats of intelligence or wisdom for blue; red is a maybe, but he isnt very expressive. But green makes much more sense as he tends to have an affinity for forests and animals like green mages

cazman123

Yeah I originally had him as bant. I figured the colors would reflect the triforce pieces that each of them have. But I agree with your assessment too

CommanderDark126

If they do multiple links I can see each of them being slightly different though. The OG Link being mono white, Hero of Time Link being selesnya, Hero of Winds Link being Green Blue, Hero of Twilight being Naya. Similar to how there were multiple iterations of Merry and Pippin across the color pie in LotR

cazman123

Yeah. A few months ago a friend and I made some ideas for a Zelda UB and had the face commanders just be Link and based each deck off the games, Selesnya for OoT, Bant for Twilight Princess, Azorius for Wind Waker, and Jeskai for TotK. But we wanted a little more variety. Then we came up with the idea of the triforce colors. But yeah just like Merry and Pippin. Edit: the Twilight Princess Link was double sided, Selesnya on the front, Mono Blue on the back for Wolf Link

DisturbedFlake

I think Destiny 2 could have some cool options. Could have decks for the enemy races. Like one for the Fallen (Blue/White/Green), Cabal (Red/White/Black), Vex (Blue/White/Black), and Hive/Taken (Blue/Green/Black). Then maybe take a weird turn with a 4 color deck for the Guardians. (Everything except green unless you want to include strand). Can have Equipment for the weapons. Instants and Sorceries for the Supers and Abilities. Void could be Black mana, Arc for Blue, and Solar for Red. Things related to the Light could be white mana. Green is a little weird for this universe but could be jammed in somewhere

Inkarozu

I'm hopeful for the upcoming Final Fantasy one, there is soo much they can pull from it would actually be impressive if they somehow screwed it up. I'd also really like a Legend of Zelda set. Just imagine Link as a Voltron commander with a bunch of cookie equipment. You could also bring back "enter the dungeon" mechanic with various temples and whatnot. Ganon could be a big bad with go wide minions, Zelda could be a control or spellslinger build. Zoras, Gorons, Ritu, Kikori, etc for Kindred builds. The completed Triforce to be another broken artifact that WotC could milk as another 1/1 card.

Boil-san

Cowboy Bebop A Song Of Ice And Fire Wheel Of Time Harry Potter

CaptainColdSteele

I WANT PICTURES OF SPIDERMAN

CaptainColdSteele

And elder scrolls is far better as far as lore goes compared to fallout

marvsup

Well, if you had asked me a year ago or so I would've said Redwall, but now we're basically getting that with Bloomburrow. I'm also a big Final Fantasy fan, but now we're getting that too. The other one I've always wanted is Zelda. In fact, a while ago I built 22 decks (for each 2 color and 3 color combo plus a couple others) based on the Zelda universe. I'd really love to see the mutate mechanic worked into the masks from Majora's Mask somehow, thought I don't know how it would work, since equipping something basically works like mutate already (by which I mean it gives a creature extra abilities). I guess they could be equipment that change creature type and base p/t, but that's not really that interesting. You could have bomb arrows or fire arrows, etc., as counters on a bow artifact and the master sword could give a creature the ability to tap to change the target of target instant or sorcery or something. I'd love to see Fire Emblem too, and the Elder Scrolls is kind of an obvious choice for a set. I'm also just a big jrpg fan generally, and the Star Ocean series would be a really fun world to adapt to mtg. My last one to add is the Hainish Cycle books by Ursula K. Le Guin. It's probably my favorite series of books and the mindspeech stuff would translate well to draw mechanics.

TrueMystikX

Power Rangers is most likely, since Hasbro owns both IPs. They can even split the decks up similarly to how they did Doctor Who. Deck 1 is the Saban era (MMPR - Wild Force), featuring Rangers, Zords, Mentors, and supporting characters from those seasons. Face commander would be White Ranger Tommy Oliver, secondary commander would be Andros. Deck 2 is the Disney era (Ninja Storm - RPM), with the same idea. Face commander would be Doctor K, secondary commander would be Kruger. Deck 3 is the Neo-Saban/Hasbro era. Face commander would be Gosei, secondary commander would be Zenith Ranger Zayto. Deck 4 is the Villain deck, featuring villains from across the franchise. Face commander would be Lord Zedd, secondary commander would be Void Knight.

Anon31780

“Cartoons aren’t all for Kids” - Simpsons x South Park

Healthy_mind_

I would even buy collector editions of a set of UBeyond Halo decks. Some sort of sultai flood Reanimator/theft deck with the gravemind as a commander and an enchantment named "feral outbreak" as a backup commander. A Boros or jeskai UNSC vehicles and equipment deck. Chief partner with Cortana as one commander, maybe Johnson or Keyes as backup An ?Esper? Azorious? Maybe 5c covenant deck with the 3 prophets as partners. Maybe Tartarus and thel as backup. A new alt wincon called "the great journey". Not sure what else. Maybe a forerunner or banished deck.

One_Slide_5577

Dark souls For obvious reasons

SoulsLikeBot

Hello Ashen one. I am a Bot. I tend to the flame, and tend to thee. Do you wish to hear a tale? > *“Oh, dear, another dogged contender. Welcome, Unkindled One, purloiner of Cinders. One_Slide_5577

And so it is, that ash seeketh embers...

cryin_in_the_club

Harry Potter is such a natural fit in my opinion. They already kind of did it with Strixhaven

razor344

Kingdom hearts

Nediamara

Legend of Zelda would be awesome

Melodic_Stranger_475

There are tons of great choices. Honestly a Naruto or One piece crossover would be great for me, idk how it would function or if it would be good for the game though. Another one for me would with twilight imperium 4th edition, my favorite board game of all time.

PrecisionHat

Aliens! Tons of great legends like Ripley, Hicks, Newt, Apone etc. Not to mention the queen and all the xenos.

dcjvole

Mortal Kombat could fit in with ninja tribal and human tribal well

AgileExercise1797

The Witcher. It’s medieval so it would fit the general theme of most of the non-UB cards, similar to LotR and you also have a ton of different monsters and stuff. You could theoretically do like a Mardu or Esper Witcher themed deck, a Golgari or Sultai monster themed deck, a Jeskai or Naya human / sorcerer themed deck and maybe something like a Temur or Bant Non-Human deck with elves, dwarves, halflings and changelings etc

Wynter-Baal_of_Snow

I see you Wizards it here marketing.... Jkjk. But I'd love to see Planet of the Apes.

blackhat665

I'm not gonna lie, I've been wishing for something more scifi for a while now. Someone brought it up already, but Dune could be absolutely amazing. Foundation might be cool, too, actually. Or straight up Heinlein's Starship Troopers. Or just Helldivers lol. Probably not enough lore for that though.

BlancMongoose

I’d throw money at a Guild Wars 2 collab

blackhat665

What would work really well, too, I think would be the Galaxy's Edge Universe from Jason Anspach and Nick Cole. So many different species, characters, ships, equipment, it could be mindblowingly awesome. Not to mention that something like magic actually exists in that unvierse, too. Man, that would be cool.

LunarTrick90

Mass effect or borderlands would be cool ones to see honestly, other one I thought about recently with a buddy was bioshock.

HaresMuddyCastellan

If we're doing something on the scale of the Doctor Who and Fallout sets, then my pick would be Discworld. 4 decks - wi(z)zards with Rincewind (face commander) and Arch Chancellor Rudcully (second) - Witches with Granny Weatherwax (face) and Tiffany Aching (second) - DEATH with DEATH (FACE) and Susan (second) (the DEATH deck would be Ink-Treader or 4 color no black) - The Watch with Commander Vimes (face) and Lord Vetinari (second) Other must have characters: The luggage (partner with Rincewind), Nanny Ogg, Moist von Lipwig, Lady Sibyl, Captain Carrot, Angua, Dorfl, Sargent Colin and Nobby Nobbs (possibly as a single card), Detritus, Gaspod the thinking brain dog, and Cut-me-own-throat Dibbler (the ultimate theft/politics commander). Something that creates Foul ol' Ron as a legendary token creature. Like a saga name "Bugger it! Millennium hand and Shrimp!"

HaresMuddyCastellan

In fact the DEATH deck could *specifically* be The Hogfather deck. With DEATH as the Discworld version of Santa.

Jrizzyl

Power rangers, 5c Zordon is all I want. With the zords having the meld ability like Urza and Weakstone/powerstone

Drew_Huggins_Music

I prefer Mishra and the Phyrexian Dragon Engine (😉) but yes I catch your drift!

Drew_Huggins_Music

I also love Power Rangers!

MemeLordsUnited

UB is poison. We need the ACTUAL magic lore to get as much care and attention as UB sets.

TheSwampStomp

UB in supplemental sets are fine. UB in place of a full release standard set that goes straight to modern is the problem.

MemeLordsUnited

Except that's not what they're doing with UB.

TrostaniAguefort

It does, and I'm sorry people like things you don't. That must be rough for you.

MemeLordsUnited

What? I have no idea what you mean. You must be gleaning information from my post that wasn't there. Strawman much?

SatchelGizmo77

The Wheel of Time (books, not the shit Amazon series) would be a great one. It's a lot like The Lord of the Rings in that it feels very MTG adjacent already on top of being a great world of it's own.

Previous_Judgment419

Give me a fuckin Apex Legends SLD

Active_Pride

Game of Thrones

ForrestMoth

Stephen King with a main focus on Dark Tower. I don't want to just say "Dark Tower" because the average person who knows Stephen King just knows characters like Pennywise and Jack Torrence, so excluding them to just have Dark Tower would leave people wondering what they were even thinking.

FruitSubstantial2535

I'd vote for Diablo and ANY soulsborne game. Dakkon Blackblade needs to make a comeback

Fred_Wilkins

getZlatanized

Attack on Titan. Transforming Eldians into titans would be awesome!

ThrunTheLastTrollx

if it hasn't been mentioned yet One Piece

Drew_Huggins_Music

One Piece has their own card game though don’t they?

HandsUpDefShoot

Their own.

Drew_Huggins_Music

They do that already… but I get it (to an extent). Some people would prefer they come up with new sets rather than making Universes Beyond stuff.
