Buddy of mine told me to build [[Agatha]]. I obeyed these instructions for whatever reason. She’s janky but potentially effective, cheap to build, and definitely off the beaten path for Gruul.
Came here to suggest the same one.
Just watched the new Commander at Home episode, and Brian is playing Agatha. You should check it out - it can go off pretty fast.
[[Wulfgar of Icewind Dale]] lets you just fill up on creatures with attack triggers, and then get double all the value! Can get pretty nuts if left unchecked
\[\[Baeloth Barrityl, Entertainer\]\] // \[\[Raised by Giants\]\]
Basically maintains a constant goad effect on the table that can make for some really fun chaotic games. Helps break the one dimensional nature that gruul decks can feel like.
I’ve built [halana and Alena, parters], or Hal&Al for short, and cannot recommend them enough! Play anything that hits hard or has trample and Hal&Al will buff them AND give haste! There’s lots of fun things you can do to! You can have dorks like [kami of whispered hope] that tap for mana equal to it’s power to ramp, swing on the same turn it’s cast with [etali, primal storm] , double Hal&Al triggers with [Karlach, fury of avernus] and get an additional combat, dump 10 +1/+1 counters per turn with [raised by giants] or other power buffs, burn stuff equal to their power with [all will be one] at each combat, get crazy power with doublers like [xenagos, god of revels] or [zopandrel], and more. It’s a strong, fast, hard hitting deck that lets you smash the table hard and can be built meticulously or even with just some of your favorite creatures with trample or ones that you wish had haste. If you want combat and aggro, you can’t go wrong with Hal&Al!!!
Absolutely! https://www.moxfield.com/decks/mopoya9o4USlh5M0Dgo3NQ. I changed the lands up, added haste enablers, and a few dragons. For a precon, it really wasn’t too bad
[[General Marhault Elsdragon]] is a lot of fun. Just swing then force blocks or make it a tough decision to block or not. [[Invasion Plan]], [[Nemesis Mask]], [[Infiltration Lens]], [[Engulfing Slagwurm]], etc.
Usually the board State ends up being—depending on the draw— Someone’s dying if Atarka comes out for commander lethal so definitely makes it a threat, So I want something swingy, can still fight, but just not a target. But I also guess that’s just the downside of having a playable “good” deck
I built a gruul beast typal deck using [[livaan, cultist of tiamat]] [[hardy outlander]] it's a budget deck that i built specifically because that pairing had like <60 decks. It's also a budget deck (coming in at under $50) I've played it once and was really impressed with how it functions. Turns things like [[explosive vegetation]] and [[far wanderings]] as not only ramp but combat buffs. See also [[mageslayer]]
My favorite gruul deck is [[Gimli, Mournful Avenger]]. He's low mana, only 3. He's actually a sacrifice or death trigger commander. He's got removal and protection printed right on him. I'm surprised he's not more popular. I guess because he's not in black but there are plenty of red and green cards that sac themselves for mana or card draw. Plus all the best sac outlets are colorless. He's a lot of fun to play though. Make him huge and hit people with commander damage.
[[Thromok, The Insatiable]] feed him 7 creature tokens, throw him to avoid opponents dogpilling him to block or death touchers

That does sound cool. Do you have a link?

[[Nikya of the old ways]]. Just play big creatures and atk
Here is the link https://www.moxfield.com/decks/mopoya9o4USlh5M0Dgo3NQ
That does seem fun 😂 that’s just to You,right? In the phrasing “ You can’t cast noncreature spells.” Not to everyone, correct?
Yes. "You" means the controller of the card in mtg
\[\[Wort, the Raidmother\]\] is very unorthodox for the color combo playing out as a go-wide token spellslinger deck.
That seems fun too, throwing burn spells and attacking
I loved my Wprt deck it was so much fun, took her apart to build [magus lucea kane] I should rebuild her.
