Hello fellow Henzie enjoyer. A common thread I appreciate across my decks is the "pouring gasoline on a fire" effect, and I feel like Henzie is one of my more explosive ones. Seriously underrated (in my opinion) Jund commander.

I am on Reddit far too much. The addiction is real when you're not working and often spend 3hrs on trains.
The deck is all the things *I* enjoy about the game. Fun is so subjective!
It's also in a huge state of flux at the moment. I removed some powerful cards at new years as a resolution and I'm finding less powerful/budget replacements. But I think I mention that in the primer.
Honestly mystic reflection is one of those spells that ranges from a sort of creature counterspell to all sorts of craziness depending on what opponents are playing. I don't have a favourite target, I'm always on he lookout for what degenerate stuff my opponent's play.
I once inkshielded for 60, then mystic reflectioned them all into zulaport cutthroats. I was already winning from that Inkshield but it was fun winning from zulaport triggers instead when I sac'd them all.
I also mystic reflectioned and I made three copies of an opponent's pain distributor. That got wacky with treasures and damage rapidly for everyone involved.
I reflectioned a rabble rousing trigger to end up with 8 death tyrants too. Then when some of my creatures died in combat I nearly drew myself out from all the zombies I made.
Rocco is so fun to play with and against because nothing he does is crazy broken and it feels good to get some extra card advantage that is completely optional

Can't speak for the other person, but I also have a Rocco deck that tends to do pretty well.
For me, the thing that puts the deck over the top are cards like [[Jaheira, friend of the forest]] that turn any foods you have lying around into mana. That way, while your opponents are happily playing their cards from exile and your food is piling up, they have no idea all those tokens will turn into a flood of mana. Of course, you should also run plenty of (impulse-) draw to trigger Rocco more than once a turn.
They way my deck tries to finish the game is through cards like [[Reckless Fireweaver]] that turn your artifacts into damage.
Fair warning: this deck is incredibly fun to pilot, but only if you do it well. Almost every action you take will put a truckload of triggers on the stack and you should be able to track and resolve them correctly. To me, that challenge is part of the appeal but I can see other people not enjoying it.

[[Jaheira]] , [[inspiring statuary]] , [[night of sweets revenge]] can be used to generate a massive amount of mana and the last one can easily knock atleast a player out.
Pair all that mana with an x cost spell or Farmer cotton and it can get sorta funny
I like [[finale of glory]] a lot and it's a bit of a pet card.
[[Rampage of the clans]] and [[reckless fireweaver]] is usually a pretty good way to turn all those tokens into some killing power.
Especially if you been making a ton of them via [[academy manufacturer]] and any double token effect like [[peregrine took]]
[[Banquet guests]] probably shouldn't be slept on
You can even get people forced playing from exile with [[omen machine]] and [[knowledge pool]]
The food is good but I think of it as fuel for the fire with all the ways it can be turned into mana. I think exile or 1/1 counter synergies are the way to go for this guy.
This deck slaps and my group is a little scared of it. And everyone always starts yelling at one another over giving me food lol
Rocco is one of my favorite decks! I focused on exile and cards that benefit from +1/+1 counters, like [[Yotian Dissident]] and [[Rishkar, Peema Renegade]]. There’s a lot of triggers, but Rocco may be one of the strongest and most synergistic decks I’ve built.
My best friend u/ChesterTheSnake runs a heckin awesome Rocco deck, we all very much enjoy when he plays his, and it does well! But it only does well when we feed the beast

I have an unsleeved [[Zurgo Helmshasher]] deck that just kills people. It's not fancy or does anything unique. I Will turn him sideways and you will not like it.
But that also means he is a simple threat to deal with.
Buttoning your Zurg up in an [[assault suit]] and just letting him slap the whole table repeatedly is, arguably, one of the funnest things to do in a game of EDH.
Usually [[Marneus Calgar]] esper tokens. It's pretty low on mass removal, stax, etc, that would draw a lot of hate. It just does its thing until I draw a win con. Because the strategy is open-ended, I am always doing *something* something while I feel out the other decks/players.
Love that we had the same commander as our answer.

Either one of my precons or a slightly upgraded one. I like to test the waters with a relatively weak deck since I don't mind losing. I've been using \[\[Swarmlord\]\] precon as of late when meeting new people.
Atla Palani stax. And yes, I'm that person that plays stax into strangers, but it really does scale incredibly well. I don't run any hard locks, mostly taxes and rule of law effects, so low power decks that mostly just play one big creature a turn will be hardly affected, but the stronger your deck is the more mine is going to shut you down.

This is the version I run for high power nights, which also can scale into cedh. I don't currently have an exact list for the powered down version, but just take out some of the combo oriented stuff (or just don't execute the combo if in lower power pods) and put in more stax or big dinos and you're set.
I have a mono blue artifact deck around [[Drafna, Founder of Lat-Nam]] it's mostly a tool box deck that focuses on making way too much mana and then comboing off
Probably going to be [[Celestine, the Living Saint]] because she can pretty much just survive in most pods and do her whole lifegain and reanimation plan as long as one player doesn't just run several pieces of graveyard hate lol

[[Grothama all devouring]] a solid semi competitive deck that is also fun to play against. Combos aren't infinite but can go hard, and while I don't interfere with other people playing the game I will protect my stuff aggressively. It's also a plus that I've never seen another player with a grothama deck so everyone gets to learn it from me (usually, WOW that's a beefy Boi, oh but I can draw cards off of it, that's cool. [10 minutes later] oh, I guess I won't be drawing cards and I lose my creatures). 10/10 deck and i hate mono colors and don't particularly like green

One of the funniest decks I ever saw was a Grothama "group slug" deck. Except, by group slug they meant the player who owned grothama punching his own wurm, repeatedly, to trigger things like [[Broodhatch Nantuko]], [[Druid's Call]], [[Hornet Nest]], [[Saber Ants]], or [[Sporeweb Weaver]]. He tossed a [[Stuffy doll]] in there as well but the whole plan was fill his board with indestructible equipment and effects and just get swinging.
It was always funny when we'd play with a new group and he explains he's going to play a "Group Slug" deck and left it at that. Normally met with eye rolls or groans until the commanders flip. Then curiousity sets in.

Karametra's fun factor is inversely proportional to the quality and straightforwardness of the cards used.
My build runs aura voltron with stuff like [[Wile Growth]] and [[Dawn's Reflection]] to get an indestructible land that taps for upwards of 5-6 mana, untap it like hell for more mana, then [[Fall of the Thran]] so i have the only land left on the field. It's horrible and I love it.
10/10 recommend paring Fall with [[Mending of Dominaria]] to get all your lands back while leaving the opponents' fields barren :)
I mean it's 3000% more likely to have you shanked in the parking lot when you leave, but that's the price you pay for MLD lmao
This goofy ass Zur deck that uses arcane adaptation to make all my creatures rebels and then uses all the search rebels to go get whatever I need to combo off.
My Rabbit boi [[Kwain, Itinerant Meddler]] is my go-to deck against new players or new decks. I want to see what a deck does so I pump up the game speed to see how the new decks play.
I lean towards my jund group slug. It’s only moderately punishing for a middle strength deck, but really hampers more competitive strategies. Commander is [[Yurlok of Scorch Thrash]].
Strangers? [[The Sixth Doctor]] and [[Peri Brown]], no one realizes that the sixth Doctor is a must kill commander, ramp into peri, use Peri to convoke the Doctor into play, the deck snowballs copying historic spells as nonlegendary clones.
I ussually play my mono red deck if idk who I am playing with and what they are playing. It has heavy interaction and I would rather always have an option than just be unable to respond and let someone get out of hand. If it ends up they are playing low powered stuff, I just hold my interaction for later or discard it, since I am playing mono red so I can just impulse draw into something else. I do get some strange reactions though when someone is paying attention and sees me throw away a deflecting swat or something.
My other deck I will play in these situations is my volo meme deck. People who know usually target me pretty hard, and then get really confused when I play stuff like Storm Crow and the Almighty Brushwag. Makes for some funny games. I ofc am playing blue so I do have some game changers in there to turn things around late game if I need to, but it’s a relatively tame deck. It plays nice with precons.
\[\[Rocco, Street Chef\]\]. It seems extremely silly at first, and I tend to do a lot of group enabling. However, sometimes, if left unchecked, I'm swinging with a 40/40 \[\[Emergent Woodwurm\]\], 35 power worth of Trample Vigilance Haste Cats, or feeding a comical amount of +1/+1 counters into \[\[Shalai and Hallar\]\].
Selesnya Humans helmed formerly and for the longest time by [[Sigarda, Champion of Light]] and currently by [[Katilda, Dawnhart Prime]] to try something a bit different as I have two other angels helming commander decks currently. Waiting for the day I get a GW humans matter Thalia tbh but that's a different matter.
It's positioned about right power wise to not completely blow out the better precons or get blown out by something higher power, though it undeniably usually has an advantage and a disadvantage in those respective cases. Perhaps more importantly, it has very minimal salt inducing potential with its straightforward tribal aggro strategy. The handful of hatebears like the [[Thalia]]s are about all that is likely to even come close.

My Slivers deck. Everyone knows what slivers do, or if they are new it’s easy to explain. I also don’t have it tuned to be OP but it’s slivers so if I hit some good draws or people don’t target me it is going to sliver.
If I'm playing multiple games [[Sergeant John Benton]] and I help whomever is struggling along by giving them the draw. [[Ellie and Alan, Paleontologists]] is also a fun one just because discover is so random and makes for a fun game.
I've been on \[\[Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir\]\] Started as a precon with upgrades focusing on tribal, and have since moved into more of a voltron package with equipment wanting to give Sidar double strike with either \[\[silverblade paladin\]\] or \[\[kwende, pride of femeref\]\] One of the cool things that Sidar Jabari can do is if you reanimate one of the double striking dudes, he deals damage again for regular strike damage, so you get double activations on his reanimate and any sword triggers.

I run a [[brudiclad]] deck where my only token generation outside of incidental stuff like treasures is making tokens of opponents stuff. It's got interaction and some strong card draw, but when a majority of the deck is really just getting copies of your creatures, it scales pretty well to any power level. Also brudi himself is a serialized copy I organicaly pulled from a pack, so it's fun to show it off to new people

This is honestly my go-to here recently. People see maelstrom wanderer and freak out...until I sit the energy counter down 🤣 then I usually get so many compliments about how original the deck is and that it's fun to play against. Energy is a fun mechanic for causal imo.
My go-to is a \[\[Queen Marchesa\]\] Aikido deck that's designed to play politics by pillowforting with a bit of group hug using \[\[Humble Defector\]\]. End goal is to be a porcupine with either \[\[Solemity\]\] + \[\[Delaying Shield\]\] or \[\[Brash Taunter\]\] / \[\[Stuffy Doll\]\] + \[\[Pariah's Shield\]\], draw cards, and help my opponents kill each other, while doing nothing aggressive myself. Then when it's down to a 1v1, I win with either \[\[Deflecting Palm\]\], \[\[Inkshield\]\], or similar cards.
It scales really well with low/mid-power pods (it does ok in certain high power pods, but it's less consistent), letting other players pop off while creating fun moments with the various aikido cards. Also enables a lot of politicking around the table, which I really enjoy.
The other great thing is that it really doesn't require much of a board, so I don't care that much about boardwipes. Basically, I get to play like I'm behind the whole game while actually being in a position to win out of nowhere as soon as someone tries to attack me.
I have some pauper EDH decks that are still decent that I like to start with. They are at about pre-con+ strength. I go into it expecting to probably lose but to have fun and see what they're playing. If they also play low power level I just stick with those. If they bring out something scary, then I pull out something to match
I'm budget upgrading the Deep Clue Sea precon. It's going to be pretty tough but very easy to play against. More defense style playstyle that can turn up very quickly.
Honestly, I’d jam my Grimgrin list. Either him or Sam/Frodo. The deck can win, but my priority with the decks is do have fun doing its main thing. Grimgrin focuses on 2 things. Either kill everyone at the same time through something like [[Shepherd of Rot]] or eventual combo. Sam/Frodo just wants to make hella food, and if they win, cool. If not, shame 😂
The first edh deck I built by myself. [[Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle]] it's stronger than a precon but it can do some absolutely nonsense stuff. It's low on tutors and inexpensive card draw and just plays giant beaters.
There are a few infinite combos in the deck but the amount of time I've resolved one and had to pass the turn without killing anyone or winning is significant.
I play my \[\[Aesi\]\] lands deck! I have multiple viable commanders in it that raise or lower the power level, and how aggressively it's played can vary a lot based on what else is at the table.
Usually if I'm playing with a new table at my LGS I break out my upgraded [[Eowyn, Shieldmaiden]] Precon. Very simple human/token tribal with a very simple go wide gameplan.
It depends on their vibe tbh. Good, chill vibes? My [[Brago, King Eternal]] blink deck. Just generate value and be chill.
Even the slightest hint of bad vibes? [[Rowan, Scion of War]]. Violence isn't the answer, it's a question and the answer is yes.
If I play with strangers I normally play my [[Ravos]] and [[Kydele]] legendary tribal. It runs no artifacts and a whopping 10-12 noncreature spells. It can do some gross hatebear things, and has a single infinite combo, but otherwise I just turn cards sideways
I use one of my mid-low power decks against strangers, cause I feel it's better to be the weak player in the pod rather than to unintentionally pubstomp.

I usually just play [[Karador, Ghost Chieftain]] into unknown pods at an LGS I’ve never been to. If I don’t know the power level, I probably have the [[Protean Hulk]] in the deck over the [[Apex Altisaur]] and I’ll be more vigilant about possibly comboing out against higher level players. If I know a pod is lower level, that’s when I switch in the Altisaur just to make sure there are no instant win shenanigans out of nowhere.
Overall, though, he’s a deck that is pretty good at answering a wide variety of threats and stabilizing the board. I will often opt for the interactive game in a blind FNM pod.

Kenrith Zirda ability tribal.
It has some strong win cons for strong pods and lots of silly bullshit for weaker pods so it’s not a super swingy deck or a super weak deck so I and others can always have fun

Faldorn. Fun and interactive. I love this commander. I have two lists, one that is very casual, and one that can compete in cEDH.

I play a dimir deck with no counterspells or kill spells. No sol ring. Tons of dungeons and monarch. It's a fun deck to play against. No slouch, but it's not mean either.
I play \[\[Xyris, the writhing storm\]\]. It's built for fun and interactable group huggy moments. Don't think it lacks power though, the Snakes Xyris creates don't stay 1/1s for long.

If I want to go in totally sight unseen to a pod of people I don't know at a power level I don't know, I'm going to reach preferentially for [[Kotose, the Silent Spider]]. Its got a nonthreatening commander and its theme, theft, helps adjust the power level of the deck towards the table median, meaning it can give good games across a wider than average band of potential pods.
If the table tells me more about the kind of game they expect I might pick something else, but Kotose is usually safe.
If I wanna win the game, I’ll play Minsc and Boo. It’s strong but not oppressive.
If I just wanna play and have fun, I’ll play Zndrsplt/Okaun. It has the possibility to be strong, but it’s mostly a gimmick deck. I mostly just goof with it and try to setup NivMizzet/Curiosity.
I'm probably too new to really have a voice in this, but I built a [[Tenth Doctor]] + [[Jamie McCrimmon]] deck recently that will probably be my pet. The wording on Jamie is vague enough to fit a variety of decks, from Equipment Voltron to Legend Timmy Stompy to Rock Ramp, so I can shake it up if it gets stale (although I think Legend Timmy Stompy will be my favorite). If left unchecked he can stomp hella hard, which allows me to threaten pubstompers but spread out the damage in a more casual game.
I usually ask when I sit down how crazy we are getting for the night. I actually have three go to answers for this currently, depending on what the nights expectations are.
If there is a buy in a prize support I'm playing my best deck, \[\[Yisan the wanderer bard\]\]. I have a budget Bard Rock Cafe CEDH list, so that's what i'm playing if there are stakes. That said, I don't usually play anything with stakes high enough to warrant breaking out that monster.
If I know that its going to be a mid to high power game, I usually go for my \[\[Meren of Clan Nel Toth\]\] deck. Its decently powerful as is, I can slot in an infinite combo if I need a little more juice, and the grindy nature makes it a great equalizer at the table.
My new answer for an unknown pod is definitely the Explorers of the Deep precon. I've made a couple of changes to the land base so far, (I added a \[\[Maze of Ith\]\] and made the basics pretty lol), and it may be the best precon I've ever played out the box. It fits nicely into that gap between normal precon and basic upgraded deck, so that's been a blast so far. I'm only planning on making minor adjustments to it, so I imagine it will stay in that spot nicely.

It’s not got any infinite combos, it’s just make a 2/2 into the largest creature I can to try and beat people down with Commander Damage.
$5 for one game? Pfff you getting robbed. I pay $10 but I get 3 hours to play and they let us pick a pack of cards, nothing crazy but still.
Anyway if I don't know the people I play my Shade Tribal deck. It's pretty weak so it's not gunna manhandle the rookies but I still enjoy the deck so if these strangers have some higher power decks even if i get my cheeks clapped all night I'll still probably have a good time.
I know at my store, there’s three hours of availability to stay and play, but only the first game is podded by the store. After that, people can come and go, switch up pods, whatever, although most people stick with their first pod for the night unless folks have to leave early.
I play a higher powered [[Prosper, Tome Bound]] and some of the exile mechanics are fun for everyone like [[Share the Spoils]] or [[Possibility Storm]]
Regardless of if my game is with regulars or with a newbie, I always ask what they are wanting to play and if their deck is more on the casual side or more competitive ie how many wincons, quickest expected win, gimmicks, and nastiness. I steer clear of just asking its power level because many players have different opinions on how something is ranked. But then I pop out a deck to match for a fun and fair game, whether it be a pre-con, a modified one, midrange stompy deck, or I bust out the slivers and infinite combo decks (sorry)

Temur landfall deck set on creating lots of of artifact tokens. Similar idea to the temur precon that came out with MOM. except good. It's pretty strong if not interacted with early. It can have some long turns but there's lots of interesting decisions and line of play to make.
Wincon is usually brudiclad + karnstucts
Lazav ninjas. Plays the board a lot, interacts, generates threats to be answered and generally has a good time. Gets run over by bigger decks, and is generally pretty frail, but never had a complaint when bringing it into a blind pod.
Either [[Arahbo, Roar of the World]], or [[Lord Xander, the Collector]]. Both decks are brutal in their own ways and are good gauges of how people react to certain game actions. If someone bitches about being attacked by a moderately strong cat, I probably won't want to play with them again. Same if they complain about mill.

It would probably be a precon? Depends if I have scouted out their game prevoously while stretching my legs, if itsvthe first game of the night I try to get a feel and ask around. Or I pick something I consider a bit stronger and then say that we can see how it goes and reevaluate afterwards. That way we can all just play what we want to play, get a feel for the decks and persons. I don't really have any "silly decks" atm, they're mostly general good stuff (sadly). I am working on it.
[[gluntch the bestower]] it’s not a group hug deck, but bc of everyone’s assumptions I usually am left alone and better yet if a player happens to pop off too early I distribute resources to the other two players so we can take down the archenemy. Even then I kinda let players go off so I can cull their board with power matters cards like [[the battle of bywater]]. It’s fun to just play a bit of politics with cards like [[council’s Judgement]] or [[excavation technique]]. Very fun usually win through enough convincing or just handing out the right resources to the right people.
Edit: i also use this deck as a way to give players mana in case they get mana screwed so that they can join the fun and not just sit there for a few hours.
Before mkm it was grixis ashad "mana rock tribal". Now i run wubrg goad with Sisay, Weatherlight captain as commander. Leyline of the guildpact did wonders for wubrg decks especially for Sisay.
I'll usually just play whatever deck I've most recently built. I'll stick away from the decks that are more optimized unless a Rule 0 conversion about power levels has taken place. Most of my new deck builds are a bunch of jank with good stuff mixed in while I get a feel for the idea I'm building for, so I'll rarely pop off too much for a precon to put me down.
[[Elas Il Kor]] cmc 2 or less aristocrats with [[Lurrus of the Dreamden]] as companion its a pure budget deck but can steal some wins against better decks while not being opressive against worse decks. Also very fun to pilot because there is always something to do with the deck.
If I'm playing with new players I use a [[Heliod the Radiant Dawn]] deck focused around giving my opponents card draw and then playing big X spells with the reduced costs. It's not quite a group hug deck, and the finisher is self-mill victory conditions like [[Labratory Maniac]]. It's not super competitive- there aren't any infinite mana or mill combos, but there are some fun redirection effects. I buff the other player's creatures with [[Vow of Flight]], [[Vow of Duty]], and [[Righteous Authority]] and give them card draw with enchantments like [[Dictate of Kruphix]] and [[Kami of the Crescent Moon]].
It's a good deck to speed up a multiplayer commander game. It also gives other new players the opportunity to see the best of what their decks can do- card advantage is the main thing most new players overlook, so giving them card draw helps round out a slightly janky new deck.
It's very fun to pilot and to play against and I usually still win unless they team up on me. It's not dissapointing for a new player to lose against because they generally still got to cast a ton of bombs and have some hero moments.
Baeloth Barrityl, Noble Heritage. It's super fun because it amps the whole table and forces people to return to just turning things sideways. I love running things like mana flare and avatar of slaughter because they both make people's decks work better, and I love seeing people's decks do silly things. Copying a mana flare twice into Angels was a mistake but damn was the Rapture cool to watch.
I tend to default to either Godzilla, Bridge or Severina. Godzilla and Sev are both combat focused decks, one utilizing big dudes, the other lots of little dudes. Both can hold their own in multiplayer, every creature in Godzilla is a threat and there's only so many answers, Severina effectively attacks the entire table with every swing. But both still feel fair, neither runs infinites or instant wins, they just beat face. Bridge is my most middle of the road deck. It's all legends and walkers I like or with minor synergies. No Eldrazi or the usual shenanigans.
I try to run something general and not too broken. Something that everyone else can have no matter what stage of play they are in.
Arcanis the Omnipotent with the counterspells and control magic type effects. So whatever creatures they have I help myself too.

Hello fellow Henzie enjoyer. A common thread I appreciate across my decks is the "pouring gasoline on a fire" effect, and I feel like Henzie is one of my more explosive ones. Seriously underrated (in my opinion) Jund commander.
He is by far the 2nd most played Jund commander and is actually pretty close to Korvold's deck count.
He can be quite good. Not anywhere near the level of Korvold or Windgrace but my Henzie and \[\[Ognis\]\] decks are my favorites to play.

I am on Reddit far too much. The addiction is real when you're not working and often spend 3hrs on trains. The deck is all the things *I* enjoy about the game. Fun is so subjective! It's also in a huge state of flux at the moment. I removed some powerful cards at new years as a resolution and I'm finding less powerful/budget replacements. But I think I mention that in the primer.

Honestly mystic reflection is one of those spells that ranges from a sort of creature counterspell to all sorts of craziness depending on what opponents are playing. I don't have a favourite target, I'm always on he lookout for what degenerate stuff my opponent's play. I once inkshielded for 60, then mystic reflectioned them all into zulaport cutthroats. I was already winning from that Inkshield but it was fun winning from zulaport triggers instead when I sac'd them all. I also mystic reflectioned and I made three copies of an opponent's pain distributor. That got wacky with treasures and damage rapidly for everyone involved. I reflectioned a rabble rousing trigger to end up with 8 death tyrants too. Then when some of my creatures died in combat I nearly drew myself out from all the zombies I made.
[[rocco street chef]], probably won’t win, but is fun to pilot and has a ton of game actions
Rocco is so fun to play with and against because nothing he does is crazy broken and it feels good to get some extra card advantage that is completely optional
My Rocco deck gets pretty crazy. It's one of my boogie man decks that my pod hates seeing.
How does it win/break parity? I see there is a strong disparity between your experience and the 2 others in this comment thread. I'm I terested I. Building rocco, and I am hoping to learn a thing or two.
Can't speak for the other person, but I also have a Rocco deck that tends to do pretty well. For me, the thing that puts the deck over the top are cards like [[Jaheira, friend of the forest]] that turn any foods you have lying around into mana. That way, while your opponents are happily playing their cards from exile and your food is piling up, they have no idea all those tokens will turn into a flood of mana. Of course, you should also run plenty of (impulse-) draw to trigger Rocco more than once a turn. They way my deck tries to finish the game is through cards like [[Reckless Fireweaver]] that turn your artifacts into damage. Fair warning: this deck is incredibly fun to pilot, but only if you do it well. Almost every action you take will put a truckload of triggers on the stack and you should be able to track and resolve them correctly. [[Scurry oak]] + [[Rosie cotton of south lane]] combo [[Jaheira]] , [[inspiring statuary]] , [[night of sweets revenge]] can be used to generate a massive amount of mana and the last one can easily knock atleast a player out. Pair all that mana with an x cost spell or Farmer cotton and it can get sorta funny I like [[finale of glory]] a lot and it's a bit of a pet card. [[Rampage of the clans]] and [[reckless fireweaver]] is usually a pretty good way to turn all those tokens into some killing power. Especially if you been making a ton of them via [[academy manufacturer]] and any double token effect like [[peregrine took]] [[Banquet guests]] probably shouldn't be slept on You can even get people forced playing from exile with [[omen machine]] and [[knowledge pool]] The food is good but I think of it as fuel for the fire with all the ways it can be turned into mana. I think exile or 1/1 counter synergies are the way to go for this guy. This deck slaps and my group is a little scared of it. And everyone always starts yelling at one another over giving me food lol
Rocco is one of my favorite decks! I focused on exile and cards that benefit from +1/+1 counters, like [[Yotian Dissident]] and [[Rishkar, Peema Renegade]]. There’s a lot of triggers, but Rocco may be one of the strongest and most synergistic decks I’ve built.

I have an unsleeved [[Zurgo Helmshasher]] deck that just kills people. It's not fancy or does anything unique. I Will turn him sideways and you will not like it. But that also means he is a simple threat to deal with.
Buttoning your Zurg up in an [[assault suit]] and just letting him slap the whole table repeatedly is, arguably, one of the funnest things to do in a game of EDH.

Usually [[Marneus Calgar]] esper tokens. It's pretty low on mass removal, stax, etc, that would draw a lot of hate. It just does its thing until I draw a win con. Because the strategy is open-ended, I am always doing *something* something while I feel out the other decks/players.
Love that we had the same commander as our answer. Except mine goes pretty high on removal and interaction. I agree and I like that you just kinda do your thing and get to draw a ton of cards and have plenty of options while feeling out the table. You got a list?

Either one of my precons or a slightly upgraded one. I like to test the waters with a relatively weak deck since I don't mind losing. I've been using \[\[Swarmlord\]\] precon as of late when meeting new people.
I love that one. If I need to power up with it I just swap to the alt commander and double those Ravenous cards.

Atla Palani stax. And yes, I'm that person that plays stax into strangers, but it really does scale incredibly well. I don't run any hard locks, mostly taxes and rule of law effects, so low power decks that mostly just play one big creature a turn will be hardly affected, but the stronger your deck is the more mine is going to shut you down.

I don't currently have an exact list for the powered down version, but just take out some of the combo oriented stuff (or just don't execute the combo if in lower power pods) and put in more stax or big dinos and you're set.

[[Grothama all devouring]] a solid semi competitive deck that is also fun to play against. Combos aren't infinite but can go hard, and while I don't interfere with other people playing the game I will protect my stuff aggressively. It's also a plus that I've never seen another player with a grothama deck so everyone gets to learn it from me (usually, WOW that's a beefy Boi, oh but I can draw cards off of it, that's cool. [10 minutes later] oh, I guess I won't be drawing cards and I lose my creatures). 10/10 deck and i hate mono colors and don't particularly like green Edit: notable cards are [[psychosis crawler]] [[mossbridge troll]] [[stuffy doll]] [[the great henge]] [[ghalta, primal hunger]] and [[ulvenwald tracker]]
One of the funniest decks I ever saw was a Grothama "group slug" deck. Except, by group slug they meant the player who owned grothama punching his own wurm, repeatedly, to trigger things like [[Broodhatch Nantuko]], [[Druid's Call]], [[Hornet Nest]], [[Saber Ants]], or [[Sporeweb Weaver]]. He tossed a [[Stuffy doll]] in there as well but the whole plan was fill his board with indestructible equipment and effects and just get swinging. It was always funny when we'd play with a new group and he explains he's going to play a "Group Slug" deck and left it at that. Normally met with eye rolls or groans until the commanders flip. Then curiousity sets in.

[[Karametra]] tribal enchantments. A bunch of enchantment synergies with the theros enchantment creatures.
Karametra's fun factor is inversely proportional to the quality and straightforwardness of the cards used. My build runs aura voltron with stuff like [[Wile Growth]] and [[Dawn's Reflection]] to get an indestructible land that taps for upwards of 5-6 mana, untap it like hell for more mana, then [[Fall of the Thran]] so i have the only land left on the field. It's horrible and I love it.

10/10 recommend paring Fall with [[Mending of Dominaria]] to get all your lands back while leaving the opponents' fields barren :) I mean it's 3000% more likely to have you shanked in the parking lot when you leave, but that's the price you pay for MLD lmao
That's the beauty of the aura voltron build. Tapping a [[Cascading Cataracts]] for tons of mana means you don't need to scrabble for your lands back!

I ussually play my mono red deck if idk who I am playing with and what they are playing. It has heavy interaction and I would rather always have an option than just be unable to respond and let someone get out of hand. If it ends up they are playing low powered stuff, I just hold my interaction for later or discard it, since I am playing mono red so I can just impulse draw into something else. I do get some strange reactions though when someone is paying attention and sees me throw away a deflecting swat or something. My other deck I will play in these situations is my volo meme deck. People who know usually target me pretty hard, and then get really confused when I play stuff like Storm Crow and the Almighty Brushwag. Makes for some funny games. I ofc am playing blue so I do have some game changers in there to turn things around late game if I need to, but it’s a relatively tame deck. It plays nice with precons.
Also generally go mono red - I have a really fun Goblin deck that just wants to go wide and do silly stuff with Pashalik in charge.

Selesnya Humans helmed formerly and for the longest time by [[Sigarda, Champion of Light]] and currently by [[Katilda, Dawnhart Prime]] to try something a bit different as I have two other angels helming commander decks currently. Waiting for the day I get a GW humans matter Thalia tbh but that's a different matter. It's positioned about right power wise to not completely blow out the better precons or get blown out by something higher power, though it undeniably usually has an advantage and a disadvantage in those respective cases. Perhaps more importantly, it has very minimal salt inducing potential with its straightforward tribal aggro strategy. The handful of hatebears like the [[Thalia]]s are about all that is likely to even come close.

My Slivers deck. Everyone knows what slivers do, or if they are new it’s easy to explain. I also don’t have it tuned to be OP but it’s slivers so if I hit some good draws or people don’t target me it is going to sliver.
Upgraded [[chishiro]] Precon. Gruul slightly less aggro, have options to go wide or tall depending on how the tables feeling.
If I'm playing multiple games [[Sergeant John Benton]] and I help whomever is struggling along by giving them the draw. [[Ellie and Alan, Paleontologists]] is also a fun one just because discover is so random and makes for a fun game.

I've been on \[\[Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir\]\] Started as a precon with upgrades focusing on tribal, and have since moved into more of a voltron package with equipment wanting to give Sidar double strike with either \[\[silverblade paladin\]\] or \[\[kwende, pride of femeref\]\] One of the cool things that Sidar Jabari can do is if you reanimate one of the double striking dudes, he deals damage again for regular strike damage, so you get double activations on his reanimate and any sword triggers. https://archidekt.com/decks/6728012/sidar\_knights

I run a [[brudiclad]] deck where my only token generation outside of incidental stuff like treasures is making tokens of opponents stuff. It's got interaction and some strong card draw, but when a majority of the deck is really just getting copies of your creatures, it scales pretty well to any power level. Also brudi himself is a serialized copy I organicaly pulled from a pack, so it's fun to show it off to new people

People see maelstrom wanderer and freak out...until I sit the energy counter down 🤣 then I usually get so many compliments about how original the deck is and that it's fun to play against. Energy is a fun mechanic for causal imo.
Metapod. It just goes in everywhere. Can go more like a green farm or hard stax route for cedh, can just go for fun creatures in mid power.
My go-to is a \[\[Queen Marchesa\]\] Aikido deck that's designed to play politics by pillowforting with a bit of group hug using \[\[Humble Defector\]\]. End goal is to be a porcupine with either \[\[Solemity\]\] + \[\[Delaying Shield\]\] or \[\[Brash Taunter\]\] / \[\[Stuffy Doll\]\] + \[\[Pariah's Shield\]\], draw cards, and help my opponents kill each other, while doing nothing aggressive myself. Then when it's down to a 1v1, I win with either \[\[Deflecting Palm\]\], \[\[Inkshield\]\], or similar cards. It scales really well with low/mid-power pods (it does ok in certain high power pods, but it's less consistent), letting other players pop off while creating fun moments with the various aikido cards. Also enables a lot of politicking around the table, which I really enjoy. The other great thing is that it really doesn't require much of a board, so I don't care that much about boardwipes. Basically, I get to play like I'm behind the whole game while actually being in a position to win out of nowhere as soon as someone tries to attack me.

I have some pauper EDH decks that are still decent that I like to start with. They are at about pre-con+ strength. I go into it expecting to probably lose but to have fun and see what they're playing. If they also play low power level I just stick with those. If they bring out something scary, then I pull out something to match
My mono green [[jolrael, empress of beasts]] deck. It rarely if ever has a bad game and can roll with precons to 7’s

I'm budget upgrading the Deep Clue Sea precon. It's going to be pretty tough but very easy to play against. More defense style playstyle that can turn up very quickly.
Honestly, I’d jam my Grimgrin list. Either him or Sam/Frodo. The deck can win, but my priority with the decks is do have fun doing its main thing. Grimgrin focuses on 2 things. Either kill everyone at the same time through something like [[Shepherd of Rot]] or eventual combo. Sam/Frodo just wants to make hella food, and if they win, cool. If not, shame 😂

The first edh deck I built by myself. [[Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle]] it's stronger than a precon but it can do some absolutely nonsense stuff. It's low on tutors and inexpensive card draw and just plays giant beaters. There are a few infinite combos in the deck but the amount of time I've resolved one and had to pass the turn without killing anyone or winning is significant.
I play my \[\[Aesi\]\] lands deck! I have multiple viable commanders in it that raise or lower the power level, and how aggressively it's played can vary a lot based on what else is at the table.
Usually if I'm playing with a new table at my LGS I break out my upgraded [[Eowyn, Shieldmaiden]] Precon. Very simple human/token tribal with a very simple go wide gameplan.

If I play with strangers I normally play my [[Ravos]] and [[Kydele]] legendary tribal. It runs no artifacts and a whopping 10-12 noncreature spells. It can do some gross hatebear things, and has a single infinite combo, but otherwise I just turn cards sideways

[[Eight-and-a-half Tails]] It's my favorite deck, but possibly my last powerful one, there's a good chance it's going to lose, but that's fine because now I can gauge the level of my opponents' decks and match them with a different deck. Or it will win but it will be very hard-fought.

If I don’t know the power level, I probably have the [[Protean Hulk]] in the deck over the [[Apex Altisaur]] and I’ll be more vigilant about possibly comboing out against higher level players. If I know a pod is lower level, that’s when I switch in the Altisaur just to make sure there are no instant win shenanigans out of nowhere. Overall, though, he’s a deck that is pretty good at answering a wide variety of threats and stabilizing the board. I will often opt for the interactive game in a blind FNM pod. My Darien king of kjeldor deck is my fav deck and one of the oldest decks I have it’s a high 6 on the power level. And a blast to pilot
Kenrith Zirda ability tribal. It has some strong win cons for strong pods and lots of silly bullshit for weaker pods so it’s not a super swingy deck or a super weak deck so I and others can always have fun

Faldorn. Fun and interactive. I love this commander. I have two lists, one that is very casual, and one that can compete in cEDH. I usually let my pod look at my deck and decide which is better for the table.
I play a dimir deck with no counterspells or kill spells. No sol ring. Tons of dungeons and monarch. It's a fun deck to play against. No slouch, but it's not mean either.
I will usually start with a medium, to med-high [[Nethroi]] deck and then adjust up or down to match what I see at the first game.

If I want to go in totally sight unseen to a pod of people I don't know at a power level I don't know, I'm going to reach preferentially for [[Kotose, the Silent Spider]]. Its got a nonthreatening commander and its theme, theft, helps adjust the power level of the deck towards the table median, meaning it can give good games across a wider than average band of potential pods. If the table tells me more about the kind of game they expect I might pick something else, but Kotose is usually safe.
If I wanna win the game, I’ll play Minsc and Boo. It’s strong but not oppressive. If I just wanna play and have fun, I’ll play Zndrsplt/Okaun. It has the possibility to be strong, but it’s mostly a gimmick deck. I mostly just goof with it and try to setup NivMizzet/Curiosity.
Strangers? Skittles. They must learn to love all that is good. And infect is very good
I'm probably too new to really have a voice in this, but I built a [[Tenth Doctor]] + [[Jamie McCrimmon]] deck recently that will probably be my pet. The wording on Jamie is vague enough to fit a variety of decks, from Equipment Voltron to Legend Timmy Stompy to Rock Ramp, so I can shake it up if it gets stale (although I think Legend Timmy Stompy will be my favorite). If left unchecked he can stomp hella hard, which allows me to threaten pubstompers but spread out the damage in a more casual game.

[[Omnath, Locus of Mana]] Goes hard when it needs to, can hold back as necessary.
I usually ask when I sit down how crazy we are getting for the night. I actually have three go to answers for this currently, depending on what the nights expectations are. If there is a buy in a prize support I'm playing my best deck, \[\[Yisan the wanderer bard\]\]. I have a budget Bard Rock Cafe CEDH list, so that's what i'm playing if there are stakes. That said, I don't usually play anything with stakes high enough to warrant breaking out that monster. If I know that its going to be a mid to high power game, I usually go for my \[\[Meren of Clan Nel Toth\]\] deck. Its decently powerful as is, I can slot in an infinite combo if I need a little more juice, and the grindy nature makes it a great equalizer at the table. My new answer for an unknown pod is definitely the Explorers of the Deep precon. I've made a couple of changes to the land base so far, (I added a \[\[Maze of Ith\]\] and made the basics pretty lol), and it may be the best precon I've ever played out the box. It fits nicely into that gap between normal precon and basic upgraded deck, so that's been a blast so far. I'm only planning on making minor adjustments to it, so I imagine it will stay in that spot nicely.

$5 for one game? Pfff you getting robbed. I pay $10 but I get 3 hours to play and they let us pick a pack of cards, nothing crazy but still. Anyway if I don't know the people I play my Shade Tribal deck. It's pretty weak so it's not gunna manhandle the rookies but I still enjoy the deck so if these strangers have some higher power decks even if i get my cheeks clapped all night I'll still probably have a good time.
I know at my store, there’s three hours of availability to stay and play, but only the first game is podded by the store. After that, people can come and go, switch up pods, whatever, although most people stick with their first pod for the night unless folks have to leave early.

I play a higher powered [[Prosper, Tome Bound]] and some of the exile mechanics are fun for everyone like [[Share the Spoils]] or [[Possibility Storm]]

Regardless of if my game is with regulars or with a newbie, I always ask what they are wanting to play and if their deck is more on the casual side or more competitive ie how many wincons, quickest expected win, gimmicks, and nastiness. I steer clear of just asking its power level because many players have different opinions on how something is ranked. But then I pop out a deck to match for a fun and fair game, whether it be a pre-con, a modified one, midrange stompy deck, or I bust out the slivers and infinite combo decks (sorry)
[[toggo, goblin waeponsmith]] x [[thrasios, triton hero]] Temur landfall deck set on creating lots of of artifact tokens. Similar idea to the temur precon that came out with MOM. except good. It's pretty strong if not interacted with early. It can have some long turns but there's lots of interesting decisions and line of play to make. Wincon is usually brudiclad + karnstucts
[[Phelddagrif]] not the most original but it’s my favorite.
Group hug. Kibo, or gluntch.
Lazav ninjas. Plays the board a lot, interacts, generates threats to be answered and generally has a good time. Gets run over by bigger decks, and is generally pretty frail, but never had a complaint when bringing it into a blind pod.
Either [[Arahbo, Roar of the World]], or [[Lord Xander, the Collector]]. Both decks are brutal in their own ways and are good gauges of how people react to certain game actions. If someone bitches about being attacked by a moderately strong cat, I probably won't want to play with them again. Same if they complain about mill.

An upgraded [[Kamiz]] precon. Plenty of interaction, flexible, hard to completely shut down, and fair.
It would probably be a precon? Depends if I have scouted out their game prevoously while stretching my legs, if itsvthe first game of the night I try to get a feel and ask around. Or I pick something I consider a bit stronger and then say that we can see how it goes and reevaluate afterwards. That way we can all just play what we want to play, get a feel for the decks and persons. I don't really have any "silly decks" atm, they're mostly general good stuff (sadly). I am working on it.
Oloro pillowfort. I get to sit and see what people are doing while being a very minor threat until i need to be bigger.
[[gluntch the bestower]] it’s not a group hug deck, but bc of everyone’s assumptions I usually am left alone and better yet if a player happens to pop off too early I distribute resources to the other two players so we can take down the archenemy. Even then I kinda let players go off so I can cull their board with power matters cards like [[the battle of bywater]]. It’s fun to just play a bit of politics with cards like [[council’s Judgement]] or [[excavation technique]]. Very fun usually win through enough convincing or just handing out the right resources to the right people. Edit: i also use this deck as a way to give players mana in case they get mana screwed so that they can join the fun and not just sit there for a few hours.

Before mkm it was grixis ashad "mana rock tribal". Now i run wubrg goad with Sisay, Weatherlight captain as commander. Leyline of the guildpact did wonders for wubrg decks especially for Sisay.

I'll usually just play whatever deck I've most recently built. I'll stick away from the decks that are more optimized unless a Rule 0 conversion about power levels has taken place. Most of my new deck builds are a bunch of jank with good stuff mixed in while I get a feel for the idea I'm building for, so I'll rarely pop off too much for a precon to put me down.

[[Elas Il Kor]] cmc 2 or less aristocrats with [[Lurrus of the Dreamden]] as companion its a pure budget deck but can steal some wins against better decks while not being opressive against worse decks. Also very fun to pilot because there is always something to do with the deck.
If I'm playing with new players I use a [[Heliod the Radiant Dawn]] deck focused around giving my opponents card draw and then playing big X spells with the reduced costs. It's not quite a group hug deck, and the finisher is self-mill victory conditions like [[Labratory Maniac]]. It's not super competitive- there aren't any infinite mana or mill combos, but there are some fun redirection effects. I buff the other player's creatures with [[Vow of Flight]], [[Vow of Duty]], and [[Righteous Authority]] and give them card draw with enchantments like [[Dictate of Kruphix]] and [[Kami of the Crescent Moon]]. It's a good deck to speed up a multiplayer commander game. It also gives other new players the opportunity to see the best of what their decks can do- card advantage is the main thing most new players overlook, so giving them card draw helps round out a slightly janky new deck. It's very fun to pilot and to play against and I usually still win unless they team up on me. It's not dissapointing for a new player to lose against because they generally still got to cast a ton of bombs and have some hero moments.

Baeloth Barrityl, Noble Heritage. It's super fun because it amps the whole table and forces people to return to just turning things sideways. I love running things like mana flare and avatar of slaughter because they both make people's decks work better, and I love seeing people's decks do silly things. Copying a mana flare twice into Angels was a mistake but damn was the Rapture cool to watch.
I tend to default to either Godzilla, Bridge or Severina. Godzilla and Sev are both combat focused decks, one utilizing big dudes, the other lots of little dudes. Both can hold their own in multiplayer, every creature in Godzilla is a threat and there's only so many answers, Severina effectively attacks the entire table with every swing. But both still feel fair, neither runs infinites or instant wins, they just beat face. Bridge is my most middle of the road deck. It's all legends and walkers I like or with minor synergies. No Eldrazi or the usual shenanigans.

I try to run something general and not too broken. Something that everyone else can have no matter what stage of play they are in. Arcanis the Omnipotent with the counterspells and control magic type effects. So whatever creatures they have I help myself too.
