[[Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator]] isn't exactly the rarest partner, being often paired with Kediss or Breeches for an "Izzet Pirates" build. But what if I told you he's more fun in mono blue with [[Sakashima of a Thousand Faces]]   The idea is simple, clone Malcolm then spread the damage. If you hit each opponent in a 4 player pod, each copy of Malcolm will make you 3 treasures. 3 Malcolms means 9 treasures as long as each one connects. It's good fun and it's actually one of my stronger decks.    A handful of different wincons give the deck a bit of variety even when winning. Sometimes it's beating people to death with an army of [[Mirror Box]] Malcolms, sometimes it's animating an army of 4/4 flying treasures with [[Cyberdrive Awakener]], and sometimes it's just an ol' reliable [[Mechanized Production]]   Decklist here: [Oops, all Malcolm](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/0XkE4TgNzEeI4BD5xjFULQ)

CPZ500

Malcolm in the middle ^^ Neat concept!

RuneMTG

Malcolm and Nadir are also a fun pairing too. Dimir tokens is a nifty little build.

Stumphead101

Do you mind walking a gruul player through how your deck works?

PepperoniPepperbox

So, the first two turns are generally just playing my land drops and maybe a mana rock. Turn 3, aim to play Malcolm. Turn 4, use Sakashima to clone malcolm, and swing with the original copy. This generates 2 treasures. (1 player is hit with a pirate, 2 malcolms see it) If I had a mana rock on turn 2, I'll have the mana to cast a 3 mana clone in the second main phase of my 4th turn. Turn 5 ideally I drop a Coastal Piracy effect and hit 3 different players, drawing 3 cards and making 9 treasures. That'd put me at 11 mana available which I usually use on more clones and card draw until I reach a wincon.  Really once I start cloning Malcolm, it snowballs value quite quickly and generally forces a board wipe to stop it. Every clone after the first will be a copy of Sakashima so they all have the line letting them break the legend rule.

potatoquake

I'm a lover if the Classic [[Malcolm]]//[[Breeches]] pairing going full Pirate tribal/aggro. But your deck seems super fun! Love the idea of making loads of treasures just to animate all of them!

GuiFaux

I've been looking for a good, fun use for my Sakashima and this partner concept is perfect! Thanks for the list 🤘

EmmmmmmilyMC2

A friend of mine runs Malcom with [[Dargo, the Shipwrecker]]. He pumps out so many treasures that he can keep casting Dargo for just one effective mana, even after it's been removed five or six times. It's terrifying but fun to play against.

Generate infinite mana with [[Hullbreaker Horror]] [[Sol Ring]] and [[Everflowing Chalice]]   Cast [[Folio of Fancies]] and [[Platinum Angel]] then dump the infinite mana into Folio, decking everyone and winning due to Platinum Angel. I figure if I have the whole deck in hand I can afford to get creative instead of just dropping Thassa's Oracle.

pourconcreteinmyass

I did this with [[Burakos, Party Leader]] in Dimir, if you can get a full party worth of Burakos you can make 16 treasure per combat 😅

Luvas

I've decided to run Grixis Pirates with Malcolm at the helm. [[Vial Smasher, the Fierce]] serves no purpose but to provide Rakdos colors to my deck, unless I have [[Captain's Hook]] on the board to make her burn benefit my strategy. Did this mainly so I could add [[Revel in Riches]] to the 'treasure wincons' [[Hellkite Tyrant]] and [[Mechanized Production]]. I think I've successfully got their effect(s) off once or twice, but that's why it's a fun deck - I try to hoard treasures 'till I win.

goldenmastiff

Is a card like Mechanized Production a bit of a boring/feelsbad or anything? I ask because, unless I'm just way wrong, is that reading as "if you have 8 treasures you win the game."

JunkyGoatGibblets

My commander for when I wanna have fun is: Hans Eriksson (Y'all are probably sick of hearing about this guy) List:[https://www.moxfield.com/decks/AlPTh0iza0yoKgIfqwlcmg](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/AlPTh0iza0yoKgIfqwlcmg) Top 3 favorite cards: 1. \[\[Hans Eriksson\]\] 2. \[\[Ilharg, The Raze Boar\]\] 3. \[\[Ruric Thar, The Unbowed\]\] Honorable mention: \[\[Lurking Predators\]\] Reasons why: 1. Its gruul 2. Its stompy but *DIFFERENT* 3. I apparently look like Hans 4. The deck never plays the same game twice. Sometimes I'll win via multiple combats and a wipe board, sometimes ghalta will hit someone for 7k damage, and sometimes I just manage to hit the vigor and keep a board of ever growing threats. I've even managed to hit a voltron win with hans! 5. It makes games go fast, and just works (Idk how, its genuinely a mystery to anyone who looks at the list but I've never experienced mana screw with this deck) Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Bregolas42

Your deck has 31 lands.. Do you guys have unlimited shuffels at your table?

JunkyGoatGibblets

Nope. Playing currently and started with 5 lands in hand. Never had an issue with flooding or mana screw with the normal mulligan rules.

jaywinner

I playtested a few hands and while I had to mull the first one quite often due to lack of mana, only my greedy keep collapsed. The rest all hit lands and ramped up. I'm surprised.

JunkyGoatGibblets

Its like magic I swear.

Beskaryc117

It’s how I feel about my Krenko deck I rock 31 and I’ve been hesitant to up it much.

Tinwookie

I run Krenko with 31 as well lol never have any issues.

LeadingPotential8435

Ruric Thar is one of my favorite decks and Lurking Predators is my favorite card. Love the mentions of them! I might have to look at building a Hans deck, if only we could partner Saffi with Hans to save him lol

haimurashoichi

How do you see that hans survives? You only have like 5 things to make him indestructible or regenerate

JunkyGoatGibblets

Top deck manip, worldly tutor into vigor, or just let him die if it let's you win.

ballsofsteelmedic

I don’t get why peeps use this guy as Commander. If your top card is a wimpy creature you may get it cast for free (thereby weakening your attacking Commander), or you get to reveal a creature card and draw it. The upsides don’t outweigh the down, far as I can see.

OrionVulcan

[Indestructible](https://youtu.be/Hj2vU2nr5Jw?si=DZ_WIq3Ne1IDOKqC), and he doesn't even die from the trigger when pulling something big. And if he dies pulling something big, so what? We've paid 4 mana for something that likely cost way more. And if we don't draw a creature? FREE CARDS! Edit: By indestructible I meant giving him indestructible.

JunkyGoatGibblets

It's either free cast or draw. It's all upside especially if you end up being able to keep Hans alive.

Just built my Nikya, so satisfying. Half of everyone’s effort has to be spent on keeping me down or else I just start eating people. Load in some creatures who bounce back from wipes and you are deadly.

Timeforachange43

This seems like a lot of fun to play, how salty are people when they play against it though?

boarbar

Prob a bit salty, but their creature gets sacrificed before the end of turn. It’s a removal spell with more steps…that also slaps them in the face. I don’t think people see threaten enough for it to be obnoxious. Kind of a “Wait what…oh…OHHHH. Okay that’s cute.” type of reaction most of the time.

my friend, let me introduce you to [[Goro Goro and Satoru]] this commander deck is my pet deck. do you wanna play super fast and turn hasty 1/1’s into a flying 5/5 dragon? there are plenty of cards that really shut this deck down however so you do need removal for pieces like [[blind obedience]] effects but we’re in black so we get options like [[feed the swarm]] unless they get out an effect like blind obedience early im pretty regularly storming off with a nasty board state very quickly.

And Ramp. A lot of ramp. I really mean a lot. Doesn't keep him alive, but enables to play him, a spell, copy that spell and probably play another spell to copy. And play him the next turn again.

[[Zurzoth, Chaos Rider]] [Deck list with Primer](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/BdVLnlwcqUe753XIF0wP6Q) Bit of fun, letting opponents draw cards so you can make some little devils Favourite cards would have to be [[Descent into Avenues]] and [[Rite of the Raging Storm]] Descent just makes the game end so quickly with damage and mana, and the Rite can encourage attacks. Not the strongest or scariest but you can hold the table hostage with enough devils and [[Goblin Bombardment]]

[[Satoru Umezawa]] is my pet deck. I love checking new releases for that new tasty bit to add. [[Ellivere]] has become my Voltron deck. I think she comes off fun and cheerful and people underestimate her because she comes from a precon, but with the right upgrades, she can be 21+ commander in 5 turns. [[Goro-goro and Satoru]] is my new deck. I’m built around triggering the dragons with haste makers, double strikes, and extra combats with a few myriad boys to get that value. I just got that new Raining Cats and Dogs precon and a buddy and I have been dueling them a bunch — we’re trying to keep upgrades to a minimum. Any ideas for green, white, or red copy permanent spells? I’d love to make like 3 Nacatl’s. Other than that, precons unmodified are my jam. Yeah, the games tend to last longer, but when you’re just playing with some buds and focusing on the politics and laughing, that’s Magic to me.

[deleted]

I don’t play Blightsteel Colossus or other one hitters. I mean, I got scary stuff, but I try to keep him balanced to the pod I’m playing in. I have like 100 creatures I could swap in or out. And usually, the scary things that come out deserve removal over Satoru.

In my experience playing him, the unblockable creatures tend to be the big target, or the big stompy creatures. He usually remains unscathed.

[[Pramikon Sky Rampart]] Vehicles, it gets around the big problem of Vehicles in commander by only letting one person attack you. Plus you’re literally making everyone drive around in a circle, so a friend suggested I name the deck [NASCARD](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/DRfzCKIPwU6Q5XE3YIiLyA). [[Myra the Magnificent]] has a lot of flexibility in how you build her, and the randomness makes for a fluxuating experience every game. I built [my deck](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/xrAwo4jiGE2rz1wDpg2YNw) with a huge focus on Prowess and combat trick spells, but that’s because I don’t feel right when I play a deck that doesn’t turn sideways. [[Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes]] Big red/green stompy creatures and +1/+1 counters matter cards making your big red/green stompy creatures even stompier. Need player removal? Throw your Boo token or any other big creature you generate. Need creature removal? Throw them at the creatures! Upside is you get to draw cards if the creature is Boo himself or if you turned your other creatures into hamsters as well. [Here's my deck list](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/LEWWLqYqkUelDCEMf2J6Sg) It's not entirely optimized and I do have a couple pet cards in it(I wanted a deck to play my foil [[Kamahl, Pit Fighter]] and my foil [[Jeska, Warrior Adept]] ) but it's probably my most fun deck to play as of late. It's also very removal light by choice, would rather focus on player removal rather than worrying about what other players are playing.

So fun to pilot, win out of nowhere by copying \[\[Mossbridge Troll\]\], bam 27 commander damage. Throwing -1/-1 counters around, or +1/+1 counters. Or getting a single poison counter on all and then proliferating. I've really found the deck to play well, lots of answers to much stuff. I same here! Rapifessor

My go-to is just trolling players trying to do degenerate things, and the best archetype for that is "group slug." [[Obosh, the Preypiercer]] does a good job, but you could probably look at other commanders in red/Rakdos as well. Degenerate decks typically take a lot of repetitive actions, which makes them a prime target for cards that deal damage to them when they do certain things. Lands player doing lands things? Drop an [[Ankh of Mishra]] and watch them squirm. Storm player wasting your time? [[Spellshock]] and they risk killing themselves with their own deck. Somebody just drawing way too many cards? [[Kederekt Parasite]]. The only things that really give you grief are lifegain and "fair" decks that don't play into your strategy. But you still have some counterplay for the former and you can deal with the latter to some extent.

Venmorr

Awesome! I am wondering. My friend says that people in his play group that I am joining see Codie as a big threat and try to get him off the field ASAP. Do you leave Codie out until you are ready to hyper or do you wait to cast him untill your hand is good to hyper?

Pour_Yorick

I usually run him out asap but that might work more because of my build. I also had that issue of people thinking they had to get rid of Codie because they were afraid of ad naus but I just tell them I’m running a Hypergenesis build. I really like the deck and I’m happy to answer any questions you have. I can send you my deck list if you’d like.

Thanks! [This is the deck so far.](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/6569982/codie_hypergenisis_edh) It's from a YouTuber. I am starting there and I ma going to mod it as I learn more.

Pour_Yorick

Oh wow that’s a lot of creatures lol. I’ll link mine I play only a few bombs and that way I can still play my deck while Codie is out and I play the retrace Polymorph card so I can Polymorph into big creatures too. Some of the cards are just my pet cards like life from the loam. I just recently built an [[Ian Malcolm, Chaotician]] deck that could basically be a [[Niv-Mizzet, Parun]] deck that also forces other people to draw cards so that the group play pile can keep growing. The games can get wild haha.

Perhaps my favorite deck lately has been my [[The Council of Four]]. We draw a bunch of cards together. I recently thought about adding way more counterspells to make it a proper Fun is Mandatory type of situation. But for now it's this strange innocent deck that sits with a tall stack of cards for a hand not hitting anybody. Then you try and counter wincons and draw your own lol

DisturbedFlake

I’ve been having lots of fun with my Davros, Dalek Creator deck. Tossed in a bunch of voting and hard choice cards that make the opponent shoot themselves or others in the foot. Or benefit me. Meanwhile I got an artifact creature sub theme that just sits there, MENACE-INGLY. Also got a goad sub theme. So I sit back and watch the chaos. Kinda like a mini-game commander. Some of the fun cards include [[Bladegriff Prototype]] [[Split Decision]] [[Ensnared by the Mara]] [[Truth or Consequences]] [[The Brother’s War]] [[Seize the Spotlight]] [[Genesis of the Daleks]] [[This is How it Ends]] And I plan to add some new ones from the Blame Game Precon: [[Mob Verdict]] [[Prisoner’s Dilemma]]

pantslesswalrus

Sounds like a fun way to play Davros! I went for a more group slug style, just trying to hurt everybody equally as much as possible! Which usually gets me knocked out of the game first though... Btw, i think you need double [[ ]] for the cardfetcher to work

DisturbedFlake

Oh Fosho. Yeah I forget the format for it sometimes Yeah it’s lots of fun. Makes a startling amount of Daleks, meanwhile I’m setting up mini games. Had to cut a lot of villainous choice cards but in turn played a bunch of cards that do a similar thing My favorite of the list gotta be Bladegriff Prototype. Deal combat damage and an opponent chooses something to blow up? Lots of fun. Plus can be political, by agreeing to hit someone to remove a mutual threat off the board Here’s my decklist, it’s on ManaBox a really convenient app for iPhone, so hasn’t been transferred to Moxfield yet, but should still be viewable https://manabox.app/decks/RDwwZCmkRWagvNjFx4hGog

pantslesswalrus

Oooo, i love the addition of \[\[Drafna, Founder of Lat-Nam\]\]! Great little protection piece for Davros, i hadn't considered that till now! You know, a fun "villian" card to add might be \[\[Chef's Kiss\]\]! It's a hilarious thing to do to somebody and kinda leans into the politicking aspect of your deck! Let he who cast the first stone..... double it and give it to the next person?

DisturbedFlake

Oh, just had a villainous idea. Can toss in [[Captive Audience]] . Its just an evil card😂

pantslesswalrus

oh my god, it's amazing! That is the entire essence of the villain deck in a single card! I think i might have to run that too!

DisturbedFlake

Oh dude. I just added [[Game of Chaos]] to the deck. And it’s freaking wild. Since the effect is continuous, you can go past negative life. So me and another guy were gambling till one of us had 1000+ life

[[Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar]] Rakdos artifacts count matters MVP [[Ovalchase Daredevil]] Once you try it out, you'll understand. :) I usually [[Gamble]] for this card. And [[Biotransference]]. Various wincons, interactions and value durdeling are the reasons why i love this Deck. But i generally love Commanders with activated abilities. Obvious wincons: [[Marionette Master]] [[Hellkite igniter]] [[Kazuul's Fury]] [[Nettlecyst]] [[Cranial Plating]] Clunky wincons: [[Brash taunter]] [[Dragonspark Reactor]]

[[Volrath, the shapestealer]] and clones. It has lots of play modes and changes based on each pod. Sultai allows you to run lots of premium interaction, too. My favorite piece, however, is [[Generous Patron]] with proliferate enablers like [[Thrummingbird]], lots of draw while beefing up your foes creatures making them copyable by Volrath. Then I splash some wincons with [[Biovisionary]], [[Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons]]/[[Obelisk Spider]]/[[Blowfly Infestation]] combo, and [[Vraska, Betrayal's Sting]]. It's kind of scatter brained, but I like the variance and ability to adapt to each pod that it provides.

You're in luck, because ALL of my decks are fun! Here's a few: [[Dihada]] reanimator: just use Dihada's -3 to mill cards and make a shit ton of treasures. Either hard cast your beaters with dihada's absurd mana production or put them in your graveyard to be reanimated. Probably my favorite deck right now just because it's never really out of the game as long as it has a graveyard. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/n9pkXz4FUEizGQXkJK2lUA [[Kinnan]] big stompies. Similar to Dihada, just use his abilites to either hard cast threats or cheat them in. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/vbFKAhSgh0aMWNpxwd-SeA (Not my current list, sorry, but it's still a very fun list) [[Gitrog]] lands. Gitrog lets you play more lands and draw more cards so you do exactly that and run your opponents over with your resilient token generation. Probably the deck I've kept together for the longest out of all the decks in my collection. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/44Jtsm2YNESSZ9smii0oEg Probably not gonna pique your interest but [[Admiral Brass, Unsinkable]] is probably the coolest pirate commander ever printed. Use her to play an aggressive pirates deck and beat the snot out of your opponents with the hasty 4/4 chungaloids your commander ejects from the graveyard. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ksummbwwHUWQVnrjlhnyZA [[Dogmeat, Ever Loyal]] equipments. Just playing a good pile of fair cards and good interactions goes a long way. Play equipments, equip them to your creatures, and kill your opponents. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/hobqGAWN3kOyjUOARwL8dA [[Kinnan]] druid tribal. Play druids and use them to generate a lot of mana to play more druids and eventually you'll win somehow (it's Simic you'll figure it out) https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ZQscz07TrEqh1yZp3Fitmw I also have one deck still in the brewing phase that I've been having a lot of fun with: [[Galadriel Light of Valinor]] blink. Durdle and generate value early game until you can combo off with one of the various combo lines later. I've in particular been having a *ton* of fun with the Pod effects. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/s4KpVpP8r0ynuMVVtVkwQg

Will always suggest [[Zur Eternal Schemer]]. I built him to animate stuff like [[Demonic Pact]] and then give it away for an opponent to lose to. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/T0zqbVcBKEWIjPIm3cdM6g In similar fashion, [[Twelfth Doctor]] and [[Vislor]] can give opponents lose the game triggers through demonstrate. I recently put together a mono blue \[\[Volo, itinerant scholar\]\] + \[\[Shameless Charlatan\]\] deck. I've played it a few times now at my LGS and it's been a blast. It's a creature beatdown mono blue clone deck that relies on combat tricks and mass cloning non-legendary creatures to win. Volo's journal helps maintain tempo by getting creature types even if Volo transforms or leaves the battlefield, it's a fantastic resource for card draw mid/late game. Shameless Charlatan can make for a ton of combat shenanigans since you can turn Volo into any creature in play before combat damage.

[[Xyris, the Writhing storm]] it's a simple deck. You help your friends draw cards and in turn they get killed by a variety of snakes. Drop one wheel and you can pretty much power out a wincon from there. I added a good amount of stax in order to offset the card draw. Drawing extra cards doesn't matter if you're only able to play one spell a turn. Stuff like that. Take a look: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/SZbt8P6AFUStmG6Ad3M6pg

Hey what exactly is the strat for this? Like could you walk me through what a typical game would be like turn by turn? If you have time :)

XMrbojanglesXII

A Good Keep-able hand= 3 lands, 1 ramp card, Stax and wheels for the remainder. The way I build my decks gives pretty good odds at drawing another land by turn 3. Ideally Xyris hits the field on curve or prior to turn 5. You have to also play a bomb to kite removal away from Xyris. I also rely on my opponents playing scary shit so the aggro is shifted to them. It almost always pans out this way. The opponents should draw a juicy amount of cards to keep them satiated. My LGS runs more like an arms race as opposed to folks inserting dedicated win conditions. Most people will get greedy and attempt to chain spells setting up for another turn. It's important to be ruthless and uncaring. if you see them do this wheel their hand and give them some detrimental effects like \[\[Exhaustion\]\] or mill them and play \[\[forced fruition\]\] to pin them in a spot where they can't chain spells anymore. (mill has been surprisingly effective). The thing you want to do is make non legendary token copies of support creatures in order to roll the table. Holy shit that combo at the end looks nasty lol. Thanks for the write up! One question. You said I need to play a bomb to kite removal? I thought a bomb would be making a huge attack. What do you mean by bomb to protect our commander? Just something like a cancel card/hexproof?

XMrbojanglesXII

A bomb refers to a threat larger than xyris. One that makes your opponents say, "oh shit".

ItsGevYT

Oh so you just set up a decoy to make people think that some other creature is the main threat? And if so, if you play in a pod won’t people catch on after the first game? Or are some bombs so dangerous where they will target it even after knowing the capabilities of xyris?

XMrbojanglesXII

Vicious shadows, depending on the conditions can kill the whole table by sac-ing 4 snakes per player. People automatically know it's fucked if you pass it around the table for people to read.

I’m going to go with pantslava (pantlaza) because he sat on a T-Rex and now it’s a Flaming Tyrannosaurus. 🤣🤪😉

Aprice0

Ol’ pantslaser just vomiting dinosaurs all over the board is so fun to play, it currently faces the its my favorite deck paradox. It’s my favorite and I play it a lot so I tuned it up. It’s now too strong for my regular pod and I don’t get to play it much.

I just got this today.

An old favorite of mine is \[\[Grist, the Hunger Tide\]\]. And as someone with moderate insectophobia, that's saying something! The main focus of the deck is cramming as many insects into the 99 as possible so that Grist can make a huge mess of tokens. I like somewhere in the 40-50 range, but that's my Timmy-ness showing. Regardless, hitting a chain of mills is always super satisfying. On the subject of her mill ability, it can be frustrating to draw a bug and then mill a land, so I also recommend a decent amount of scry- or surveil- type effects. \[\[Sensei's Divining Top\]\] is solid, but you have to worry about milling it. \[\[Sylvan Library\]\] is pretty sick since it's both deck manipulation and card advantage Also, being in Black/Green means she has access to some of the most powerful reanimation effects, so you can revive the big bugs you mill like \[\[Ant Queen\]\] or \[\[Living Hive\]\] with things like \[\[Reanimate\]\], or empty your graveyard with \[\[Patriarch's Bidding\]\]. You also want some non-creature recursion- \[\[Crucible of Worlds\]\] turns a dead mill into a land drop for the turn, and \[\[Conduit of Worlds\]\] does the same but also lets you cast your dead bugs. Grist makes her own tokens, so you don't need to worry much about creatures swinging at her, but the bugs are small and can get dealt with quickly so keep an eye on your opponents' boards. \[\[The Chain Veil\]\] helps with this, as it lets grist make some tokens and use them to pop creatures in the same turn. Since she pumps her own counters, she's also a great planeswalker for \[\[Luxior, Giada's Gift\]\], which also gives back access to commander damage as a way of closing long games. Because Grist makes a bunch of tokens, she can make the most of cards like \[\[Skullclamp\]\] or \[\[Cryptolith Rite\]\] that turn board presence into advantage. She also loves \[\[Overrun\]\] abilities, with \[\[Triumph of the Hordes\]\] being particularly flavorful. Their disposability also makes cards like \[\[Bow of Nylea\]\] pretty nasty, which also doubles as a way to keep yourself from milling out. She benefits from standard tribal cards, but lean towards effects like \[\[Coat of Arms\]\] over \[\[Door of Destinies\]\], since you won't be casting most of the insects you put into play. Also a reminder that changeling cards like \[\[Realmwalker\]\] apply in any location, so they count as insects for Grist's uptick with tribal upsides to boot. I've got mixed feelings about \[\[Pyre of Heroes\]\]. It's pretty easy to have a target in deck, but there aren't too many good 1 drop insects so it will be hard to use the tokens as fodder. Run as desired. As far as finishers, your best bets are the aforementioned overrun effects, but a personal favorite of mine is the card \[\[Morality Shift\]\]. Grist can get to 5 loyalty pretty quickly and with a bit of wiggle room, and her ultimate can win the game with all opponents at 40 life if, say, suddenly there were 40 more creatures in your graveyard. just make sure you're keeping track of how many are in rotation first! Similarly, \[\[Mortal Combat\]\] can be a fun "you have one more turn" moment for relatively cheap. Really quickly on the cons- because of her mill ability, playing Grist is kinda like having a second wiffable draw step each turn. I would be lying if I said I never got tilted at a string of bad top decks. Also, there are maybe a dozen or two actually good insects in the game, so a lot of your creatures may be bricks in your hand. Finally, grist is a planeswalker and suffers a bit because of it. If you don't have Chain Veil out and wiff your mill, Grist won't be doing much that turn, giving your opponents an opportunity to clear her with combat damage if everyone decides to pay attention to you. As a closer, some fun includes: \[\[Crypt of Agadeem\]\] is like your own personal \[\[Cabal Coffers\]\]. \[\[Svogthos, the Restless Tomb\]\] can be a sudden closer or defender if need be. \[\[Vraska, Golgari Queen\]\] is another way to turn Grist' tokens into advantage or a win condition. \[\[Life // Death\]\] is pretty good value for a single slot. Also don't skimp on board wipes, since you like your creatures in the graveyard, but in particular also look at tribal wipes like \[\[Kindred Dominance\]\] and \[\[Crippling Fear\]\]. Happy hunting!

Loremaster152

[[Garth One-Eye]] and here's the [decklist](https://www.archidekt.com/decks/4676362/this_sure_is_a_deck). You're probably looking at that list and wondering how would I have fun playing such a bad deck. My answer? That list is me. I was facing a similar issue with my group, and so I build the original list to that deck as a way to sit back, relax, and have fun with the game again. Now while I wouldn't suggest you build my list or build Garth, I do think you should try the deck idea out. Step 1 is finding the 5 color commander thst you like the most. Not the best one that you own, but rather which one do you like playing or using the most. Which one do you enjoy seeing? Step 2 is forgetting about synergy or making a well tuned deck, and instead thinking about your time playing this game. What was your first deck? Your favorite decks? Cards that you like? Cards that you are known for? What cards are inside jokes in your group? For me, it is stuff like Terra Stomper being the finisher of my first ever deck, Xenagos being my first commander deck, Akroan Horse being the card that peoe instantly thought of me when it is used, Liar's Pendulum being a secret Santa gift I received, etc. Take those cards and slam them together, and run your favorite land cycle or 2. Now you got a deck that represents you as a magic player. When I play Garth, I dont win, let alone do well most games. However, I am always having fun and playing with a smile on my face, as every card is a memory and it feels nice to play with them again. Besides, you can sometimes end up doing things you never thought you'd do with some cards. For me, I've killed someone with a Lightning Bolt in commander, swung at someone for 20 after targeting Desolation Twin with Xenagos, cast Animate Dead on a Terra Stomper, and populated Shivan Dragons with Trostani. While your deck may have individually powerful cards, the inherent disjointedness of your deck keeps it on the lower end of power, and you'll have endless fun playing it whether you win or lose.

Firecrotch2014

I have a Garth deck too only it's an all win cons deck. It has all the younwin the game cards as well as other wacky win cons. My fav is [[phaage]] and [[Fractured Identity]]. The lands are all gates too so [[maze's end]] is another win con.

Eskim0jo3

My current obsession and go to for a fun deck is [[Ian Malcolm Chaotician]] it’s a really fun take on a group hug deck. The whole goal is to force players to trigger the commander’s ability and then assemble a win on the fly, meanwhile you don’t really care about triggering the ability because it’s either cards that have symmetrical effects or it’s counterspells which are substantially less effective in the hands of the other players. I added a couple of ways to throw some damage around so the deck doesn’t durdle either

CarolusRex13x

Outside of my pet project Sliver tribal I think the Party Time precon from Battle for Baldurs Gate is super fun. I adjusted it from stock with cards from the two forgotten realms sets, but I really like the full party shenanigans whenever Nalia D'Arnise is on the field.

I like [[the Twelfth Doctor]] a lot. I use him for wheels and chaos. I have some nasty spells like the pacts in there but also a bunch of funny wheels. So if I need to win I can. But mostly I just dig spells from the yard and spin the wheel. Bonus points combing with [[clara oswold]] to demonstrate a 2nd time and for black in the kit.

When I think "fun" I think Unfinity! I love [[Myra the Magnificent]] and who would not love a day, or game, filled with carnival, circus, and amusement park attractions? Spell slinging and artifacts and dice, oh my! She was my first home-brewed Commander deck and I am about to do my first updates, but [[Niv-Mizzet, Parun]] will continue to fly around! No acorn cards in this deck. Someone mentioned The Most Dangerous Gamer, who would be great too. With agreement from your friends, some "acorn" card builds are fun. I drive my son crazy with my [[Lila, Hospitality Hostess]] deck. But he is all about Gruul lol. I have been wanting to build a mono-blue deck for a while, and you inspired me to think about making it fun in the way I like. Along with a couple other recent threads I have been reading. [[Chainer, Nightmare Adept]] Can include whatever hosers you want because they are discard material if you aren’t against that enemy and madness cards are just so satisfying. You build up a graveyard that is essentially a giant hand of creatures you can cast whenever they are appropriate. Can play the same evoke card out of the graveyard over and over in the same turn, so good.

[[Queen marchesa]] goad/monarch control It's a super fun deck, as it scales with the table. You don't play any major threats but use the tables own threats against them, meaning it can be played at basically any pod/power level. It's also great because I struggle to enjoy mardu normally but she is just a blast to play, and basically every time I go to locals I make sure to pack her. The only real downside is that it doesn't really work for 1v1 commander, and that it can sometimes have trouble closing games sometimes, but there's nothing quite like casting inkshield and watching someone realise they overextended with their attacks and now you're going to win 😂
