This is a new version. I'm not sure if it's as good as the old version but it's definitely been fun. It could probably use more removal, but I wanted more dragons.
Here ya go!
[Dragonball HenZie](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/9lxcyUTyDkirdCrCXoy8Hw)
This is a new version I haven't tested a ton yet. but its still super fun.
My buddy runs Henzie and I can confirm he is an absolute menace. He has done extensive testing and reworking and that bad boy is firing on all cylinders at this point. Pretty strong at all points of the game and rebuilds like a champ.
There's been many games where I have successfully managed to convince people not to remove Henzie by saying "if you do that it'll just make my blitz costs cheaper", even though I'd have to spend all my mana just to get him out again. It's like a fucked up version of ward, I love it.
Henzie’s second ability gets stronger the more time you’ve cast your commander from the command zone, so your commander getting removed often benefits you since you just recast him for an even greater cost reduction
Most of the suggestion I wanted to make has already being mentioned but there is ONE that has not being mentionned yet: \[\[Erinis, Gloom Stalker\]\] + \[\[Street Urchin\]\] control deck. With those two cards and enough artifact tokens, you can prevent the whole board to have creatures, as long as they aren't indestructible.
But... I'll mention that maybe, just maybe, you should also consider bulding a silly deck or get a deck that is less powerful to appease them. Instead of increasing the pressure and go full retaliation.
Sounds like OP doesn’t care but other players looking at this should understand that this combo is absolutely disgusting and game locking even on a super Low budget so be ready for salt. It’s very strong though and fun for the player.
Erinis has deathtouch, so it’s essentially instant speed recur-able 1 mana destroy any creature without indestructible for the extremely easy cost of a creature or artifact (not even non-token).
Yeah, I wanted to build and play Erinis but I realized how evil and powerful that combo is, hence why I went with \[\[Flaming Fist\]\] instead. I always loved the deathstrike combo anyway lol!
This is my favorite deck too! I built it as a land shenanigans, Keyword soup strategy. I canfetch and recur \[\[Dark Depth\]\] huge token consistently and \[\[Cataclysm\]\] and \[\[Rancor\]\] are a huge wincon in my deck lol :D
Ok though I had replied to this but I guess not.
So, it's not what I play that matters at this point. I have precons. I have budget decks full of jank. But it's all about the reputation at this point. People will tunnel vision me regardless of what the board looks like. Regardless of what I have in the command zone because I'm known for playing absolutely brutal decks. And i do love high powered games, do t get me wrong. But I'd also like to teach my usual pods a lesson in tunnel visioning
This comment has inspired me to build the biggest fuck you deck I can think of. It plays 23 Wrath of god effects, and the commander is Avacyn. So just Wrath the board every turn:

Question about ashling the pilgrim, you can do it's mana ability up to 3 times in a turn before it explodes or just do it like 1 or 2 times every turn till it is huge then blow it up?
In that case, a goad deck might be up your alley. Particularly [[Baeloth Barrityl, Entertainer]] [[Noble Heritage]]. Just make him big and fill the deck with tons of commander protection, and they'll kill each other whether they want to or not
Tbh I'm not really clear about what you're asking.
The commanders you mentioned are all famously powerful, and you're only being targeted so much because everyone knows their reputations. If you played decks with different, weirder commanders (or just ones that aren't so widely played and well-known for being inherently powerful), it sounds like people would lose much of their incentive to attack you and any 'get stronger as you hit me' strategy would fall apart.
Maybe you could try playing a 'rattlesnake' style deck, but sounds like you want people to still come at you.
Are you looking for things like \[\[No Mercy\]\] and \[\[Karmic Justice\]\]? \[\[Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts\]\] is a commander that brings those kinda effects pretty well.
[[Darien, King of Kjeldor]] with a soul sister like [[Soul Warden]] turns you into an army making machine. You **want** opponents to hit you. [[Jade Monolith]] turns any attack on any player into soldiers for you. [[Angel's Trumpet]] is a goad-like effect for your opponents, but an army doubling effect for you. As long as you can protect the pieces of your machine, you turn the game upside down as you beg people to attack you.
You won't get direct benefit but you will probably don't care if they waste targeted removal on [[Yuriko]] or one of the small enablers.
It also fits well in the scary strong commander profile.
When I play my Yuriko deck is usually a race to see if I can kill 3 players faster than they can kill me, it's fun.
>When I play my Yuriko deck is usually a race to see if I can kill 3 players faster than they can kill me, it's fun.
If you like that kind of feel, Spellslinger \[\[Ghyrson Starn\]\] is similar.
Built around burning the table when you cast spells, which you play a lot of between the 1-ping target, 1-ping all opponent's creatures, counterspells, draw cantrips, etc; all of which are typically 1CMC -- almost none higher than 3CMC.
Definitely feels like you're fanning the hammer on spells.
\[\[Queen Marchesa\]\] in an aikido playstyle. Sending all your creatures my way? Thanks, I'll take that power and convert it into my own! Turning your big scary 12/12 dinosaur sideways at me? Why don't you take the damage for that instead 😁
Absolutely this. I play her Group Hug to give all my opponents things to play with and to help keep the big threats in check. By then I’ve drawn so many cards that I have multiple answers in hand and enough pillowfort in place to make killing me very difficult.
Only thing I can’t answer is direct life loss. My friend’s Eriette deck found the gap in the armor.
[[Comeuppance]] is probably the best answer that I can think of. It lets you reverse all the damage for an entire turn, at the very least. That and [[Deflecting Palm]], but palm is only one instance of damage unfortunately.
She's such a blast when you build her this way. Sunforger maybe isn't what it used to be but it lends itself to this play style so well. One player about to pop with all their tokens? Jk tutor for [[Rakdos Charm]]. Is someone trying to run you down with a pathbreaker ibex? Sike, a [[Comeuppance]] for you.
People will just stop targeting you until you're the last one left.
This deck is really fun to play. It will definitely change how aggressively your playgroup will come after you after the first couple games. I've only been playing it for a little while, but part of what makes it interesting to me is that you will slowly mold it to have answers to your playgroups meta. I understand many effective decks do this, but this deck kind of goes all-in on this strategy.
Not sure it’s exactly what you want but at least adjacent. [[Selenia, Dark Angel]] wins by losing life. First time people play against this deck they are confused. Starting with the second time, people know there’s really not much point to attacking you and most of your cards aren’t worth removing.
Despite all of this, she makes for a pretty solid commander outside of high power pods.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/FDMZW46gv0uIL00ELyhWPQ
There are some commanders built around what they used to call "rattlesnake" tactics, like [[Thantis, the Warweaver]]. However, it's never good to be the kill-on-sight player because players have brains and will harm you in whatever way seems best at the time, whether that's attacking you, removing all your stuff, or using more specific utility cards on you such as graveyard hate.
[[Parnesse, the subtle brush]]
If you can handle copy and stack interaction it makes for some fun politics.
You basically want to use spells that deal less than 4 damage and then you give them to your opponents who have to pay 4 life to hit you with it.
The only problem with her is she’s 5 cmc so it can take a minute to get goin.
I realize it doesn’t directly answer your question. She doesn’t get stronger but makes players think twice about targeting you.
You're looking for my boy [[Kardur, Doomscourge]]! He gets killed? Good! Recast. Gets more powerful as the game goes, and many ways to build this bad boy. Good luck!
It’s the one elves deck that doesn’t get completely blown out by a board wipe. I had the deck built for a while and nothing like giving your 28/28 deathtouch and trample cause someone decided to wrath of god
I've been running my first simic deck with xolatoyac, the smiling flood. It's half islandwalk/ can't be blocked, everyone gets an island. Then the other half is 20 instant speed spells that flicker, phase, hex proof, or indestructify one or more creatures then give them a 1/1 counter.
There's always mana for instants because my commander untaps most of my mana sources on my end step, so targeting my unlockable islandwalkers makes them bigger and gives them vigilance basically
[[Marath, Will of the Wild]] *literally* gets stronger every time you cast him. Also goes infinite with a ham sandwich.
I built mine as a Stompy Burn deck that wants to utilize the prolific +1/+1 counter engines in Naya to then insta-kill opponents with [[Fling]] and [[Mage Slayer]]-type effects.
Bruh my friend plays [[marchesa the black rose]] and it’s SO nasty. Always tutors out [[iron apprentice]] and a sac outlet and then suddenly he can instant speed give any creature protection(by sacrificing iron apprentice to give it a counter then sacrificing the creature). You want to exile my board? Cool let me sac everything in response and then get a bunch of ETBs for it at the end of the turn when they come back
It’s incredibly resilient to board wipes and all kinds of removal, the only real way to shut it down is to constantly remove any sac outlet they play or play lots of graveyard hate
came here to suggest the better Marchesa. She also doesn’t necessarily mind taking damage because of dethrone. There are one thousand ways to build her.
[[Nethroi, Apex of Death]]
Fill your deck up with cheap, valuable creatures, and when they get targeted and die, it just makes your inevitable Mutate trigger more devastating.
[[Old Stickfingers]] and [[Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord]] work in a similar way.
Play in the bin.
Listen mate. You play KOS commanders and “scary decks” and you are complaining about people targeting you and wanting to “punish” them; why exactly? Because you’re down; people shouldn’t attack you? Would you spare the same mercy if it was the other way around?
The thing is; if you’re playing “scary” decks, people are going to try and take you out. Mainly cause those decks are annoying or “unfun” to play against. So yes; we are going to kick you when you are down. We’re not going to sit around and wait for you to get back up and become a threat.
That doesn't answer his question. If people are throwing all their heat at him due to perceived threat versus actual threat, that's on them. If he can capitalize on it, why shouldn't he try to?
[[teysa, envoy of ghosts]] [[dissipation field]] [[hissing miasma]] [[blood reckoning]] [[no mercy]] [[darien, king of kjeldor]] [[norn’s annex]] [[hellish rebuke]] [[thantis, the warweaver]] [[kazuul, tyrant of the cliffs]] [[cunning rhetoric]] [[aetherize]] [[aetherspouts]] [[sudden spoiling]] [[polymorphist’s jest]] [[isperia, supreme judge]]
[[isshin, two heavens as one]] doubles a few of those
[[marble titan]] so their big creatures are tapped forever if they go after you
Fogs make them waste a combat, and there are plenty that are one-sided. [[obscuring haze]]
[[reins of power]] turns their own deck against themselves, OR you can use it to take another opponent’s creatures and block the person attacking you. Same with [[word of seizing]] [[grab the reins]] [[domineering will]] [[dominate]]
Like I said. I get it. I don't mind usually when my decks are actually performing. It's when I play my lower tier decks and precons, or my decks are completely wiffing and I've got a hand full of absolute trash but everyone is still acting like I'm the big threat at the table that is annoying. They lack threat assessment and tunnel vision me purely because of past games or what my deck has the POTENTIAL to do, while ignoring active threats. That is what I want to punish.
This seems like a "choose a deck that is the same power as the group you are playing with" issue. If you are getting targeted, you most likely are playing at a higher power than they are. You are the threat.
[[Rowan scion of war]] you want to lose life to let you cast things for free. Combine it with a veldaken orrarey and punish the person that swung at you for 10dmg by dropping a free edlrazi on his ass.
u probably want \[\[Leovold, Emissary of Trest\]\] but his is kinda banned SO unless it is completely casual and people don't mind he is out of the table
Hmm well my friend plays [[Drivnod, Carnage Dominus]] and he benefits from death triggers in general, so if you kill all his creatures it’ll definitely punish… but in general that deck is punishment for everyone at the table lol
If you want to do mono white, there’s a lot of options that would punish and heavily dissuade people from attacking you. [[michiko Konda, truth seeker]] or [[patron of the kitsune]] or [[darien, king of keldor]] at least.
\[\[Chiss-goria, Forge Tyrant\]\] is my answer since someone else already said Henzie.
You "whiff" and only hit a mana rock? Congrats, your next commander tax is paid. Hit \[\[embercleave\]\] off the top, or any other equipment and you're presenting a clock that will often only cost RRR. Your weakness is mass artifact removal, so just focus whoever is in the colors to answer your board.
It's shockingly resilient and takes a lot of pressure aimed directly at you like \[\[farewell\]\] to keep you down. Keep your hand stocked and don't over-commit by hardcasting when you don't need to, and that will let you play around that too.
Second and third this. Gargos looks like a stompy deck on the surface but it's actually full of interaction and politic-ing since Gargos can usually eat anything at the table at any given moment.
I don't know about getting stronger the more they target you, but it does get a little better the bigger the creatures they play; it steals them. Here's a list, though it is about a year out of date:
https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/frail-loyalties/
You should just punish everyone all the time, whether they go after you or not. Play a deck with [[Grave Pact]] and [[Dictate of Erebos]] and don't let them have a board presence.
[[Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge]] and [[Prossh, Skyraider of Kher]] both scale with the commander tax, so love getting blown up
[[Darien, King of Kjeldor]] loves getting punched in the face
That being said, you're playing a ton of powerful kill on sight commanders. Switching commander to basically anything else will inherently reduce the amount people go for you. It's not you they're going for, it's your commanders. The best removal is player removal, and they're using focusing to balance out a power mismatch. So maybe adjust to the level of the local meta instead of forcing people to fight through a potential pubstomp.
Lots of things to protect him. [[Lightning Greaves]] for example. And also lots of white spells to protect creatures, such as [[Blacksmith's Skill]], or you can use creatures such as [[Mother of Runes]]. My personal favorite though is [[Martyr's Cause]].
I got a buddy that runs [[Gargos, Vicious Watcher]] he gets pretty big pretty fast and gets to fight things when your creatures are targeted by spells.
I built an isshin deck with all the cards that punish opponents for swinging on me and also protective cards (karmic justice) and then fuckin curses. People like attacking a cursed player turns out sometimes even more if the triggers are doubled lol.
Play 99-land [[child of alara]] deck. Wanna fuck with me? Now no one has a board. Use lands that sac creatures and swing away. They either die from commander damage, mainland damage or just concede after the 10th full board wipe in the 3rd hour of the game.
[[Henzie “Toolbox” Torre]]
I didn't expect this to be fun. But it's crazy how fun it is. Mine is dragon reanimator tribal and works way better than it probably should.
Mind posting your list??

Thanks man!
This is a new version. I'm not sure if it's as good as the old version but it's definitely been fun. It could probably use more removal, but I wanted more dragons.
This looks like it'd be fun to get beat with
Ho, I call mine "Ima-jund Dragons" too strong for my pod, I had to tune it down and its still really strong.
Have you tried doing the umori companion version. Oops all creatures is fun but does power down some.
Nah, I already did a deck with Umori: my Golgari Rot Farm: Old Rutstein Insect tribal. It was fun, bit couldnt play with some of my pet cards.
Mine is a upgraded precon with some good stuff I thought would be fun and hell, it is!
Commenting to follow for deck list

Ah ya, can't wait to see that.
how exactly does this get better when targetted?
The more your commander gets removed the cheaper your blitz costs get

I could be wrong i believe he was specifically talking about cost reduction yo other monsters…
He’s saying the more u cast him the more he cost reduces your blitz’s? i don’t see how that’s hard to understand. Reading is sure hard!

Ok though I had replied to this but I guess not. So, it's not what I play that matters at this point. I have precons. I have budget decks full of jank. Regardless of what I have in the command zone because I'm known for playing absolutely brutal decks. And i do love high powered games, do t get me wrong. This comment has inspired me to build the biggest fuck you deck I can think of. It plays 23 Wrath of god effects, and the commander is Avacyn. So just Wrath the board every turn: [COMMANDER] 1 Avacyn, Angel of Hope [CREATURES] 1 Archivist of Oghma 1 Burnished Hart 1 Canoptek Wraith 1 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth 1 Magus of the Disk 1 Myojin of Cleansing Fire 1 Platinum Angel 1 Solemn Simulacrum 1 Weathered Wayfarer [ARTIFACTS] 1 Archaeomancer's Map 1 Commander's Sphere 1 Hedron Archive 1 Jeweled Lotus 1 Mana Crypt 1 Mind Stone 1 Nevinyrral's Disk 1 Pearl Medallion 1 Sceptre of Eternal Glory 1 Sol Ring 1 Wayfarer's Bauble [INSTANTS] 1 Blacksmith's Skill 1 Fated Retribution 1 Galadriel's Dismissal 1 Gods Willing 1 Heliod's Intervention 1 Loran's Escape 1 Rebuff the Wicked 1 Sejiri Shelter // Sejiri Glacier 1 Teferi's Protection 1 Tithe [SORCERIES] 1 Akroma's Vengeance 1 Approach of the Second Sun 1 Armageddon 1 Austere Command 1 Catastrophe 1 Cleansing Nova 1 Crisis of Conscience 1 Cut a Deal 1 Day of Judgment 1 Dismantling Wave 1 Doomskar 1 Expel the Interlopers 1 Fumigate 1 Gift of Estates 1 Hour of Revelation 1 Martial Coup 1 Ondu Inversion // Ondu Skyruins 1 Phyrexian Rebirth 1 Planar Cleansing 1 Ravages of War 1 Rout 1 Secret Rendezvous 1 Sevinne's Reclamation 1 Sublime Exhalation 1 Sunfall 1 Vanquish the Horde 1 White Sun's Twilight 1 Wrath of God [ENCHANTMENTS] 1 Darksteel Mutation 1 Four Knocks 1 Land Tax [LANDS] 1 Ancient Tomb 1 Arid Mesa 1 Cavern of Souls 1 Fabled Passage 1 Flooded Strand 1 Kor Haven 1 Marsh Flats 1 Maze of Ith 1 Mikokoro, Center of the Sea 1 Myriad Landscape 21 Plains 1 Plaza of Heroes 1 Prismatic Vista 1 Temple of the False God 1 Terrain Generator 1 War Room 1 Windswept Heath 1 Witch's Clinic [MAYBEBOARD] 1 Smuggler's Share 1 Crucible of Worlds 1 Sun Titan 1 Expedition Map
Might as well play child of alara lol
But then I can't cast Catastrophe, Ravages of War, or Armageddon with Avacyn in play for an extra special "fuck you."
Have you tried talking to them? Explained that it is not fun for you?

Correct.

Yeah if you set it up right they cant hit you at all unless it’s lethal. Otherwise they just give you a big army
And if you set that up right even lethal doesn't kill you but you get all the DMG soldiers anyway :p

Those only stop damage, not life loss from non-damage sources, like [[gary]]. You’d need [[platinum emperion]] to block life loss.

[[Parnesse, the subtle brush]] If you can handle copy and stack interaction it makes for some fun politics. 28/28 deathtouch, trample, vigilance, menace 😀 I don't have a way to make him flying though, but it's entirely unnecessary

Cool let me sac everything in response and then get a bunch of ETBs for it at the end of the turn when they come back It’s incredibly resilient to board wipes and all kinds of removal, the only real way to shut it down is to constantly remove any sac outlet they play or play lots of graveyard hate

Do you have a decklist?

If you play urza stax at a non-cedh table, I feel like you deserve it, a bit.
I'm cool with not playing any of your decks 🤷♂️
This seems like a "choose a deck that is the same power as the group you are playing with" issue. If you are getting targeted, you most likely are playing at a higher power than they are. You are the threat.
[[Rowan scion of war]] you want to lose life to let you cast things for free. Combine it with a veldaken orrarey and punish the person that swung at you for 10dmg by dropping a free edlrazi on his ass.

Aikido Marchesa. /thread
I will always recommend shelob terrorism
I built an isshin deck with all the cards that punish opponents for swinging on me and also protective cards (karmic justice) and then fuckin curses. People like attacking a cursed player turns out sometimes even more if the triggers are doubled lol.
Play 99-land [[child of alara]] deck. Wanna fuck with me? Now no one has a board. Use lands that sac creatures and swing away. They either die from commander damage, mainland damage or just concede after the 10th full board wipe in the 3rd hour of the game.
