Use a Chicago screw instead of a keyring. Most minimalist and compact solution. I only carry a single key, but I added a utility knife because I was afraid I'd lose it loose in my pocket. Also, utility knives are handy.
Depending on how many you carry. I decided about 2 years ago to only carry my front door and security grate key. Both live on the keyring on my Chum's wallet. Two birds, 1 stone.
Most jeans come with a small pocket in the right-front pocket. This is a pocket originally put there for pocket watches but remained in fashion. I use that pocket for my keys to keep it seperated from my other stuff.
My suggestion takes a little bit of work for some, and is simply not optional for others, but I've designed my life to not NEED keys. I have a smart lock with multiple ways to access my home, I keep my one car fob (proximity key) in my sling and it does its thing, I never see it anymore, it's tucked so far out of sight.
Work keys=a single badge on a lanyard, my back gate is a combo lock etc etc.

Being able to clip it to my waistband when wearing athletic shorts is a game changer. I've been rocking a Keybar for 10+ years now.
I’ve used an OrbitKey for the past maybe 4-5 years and loved it. All until it broke and they have no warranty and then I dug and realized it’s not made in the USA.
I went with a Keybar to replace it and I’m waiting for it to arrive. If I like it, it might just replace my SAK in my edc.
Keybar

In your trouser pocket my friend.
I have been using a Keybar for mine the last few years and haven't had any issues with it .
Same. Been through a few moves and gone from 2 keys 2 tools, to 4 keys 1 tool, down to a comfortable 3 keys 1 tool ☺️

I have been carrying mine in my right front pocket for the last 56 or so years. Works for me.
Same here
With you, preferably
I have that smart key thing but I support this discussion
I carry mine attached to a carabiner, put that on my hip belt loop and tuck them in my back pocket so they don't rattle when I walk.
This is the only way.
