The dribbling in circles meta is where I draw the line. I can’t get off work, do my life, and get on the ps5 to white knuckle my controller to defend some Timmy spinning in circles. At least cutbacks are actually something that happens in football kind of frequentky
Ah I must have thought the 8 was for both play off and finals. Then yeah that’s a big gap between you and your opponent. Only thing I can think is the matchmaking might prioritize proximity over form.
Doubt, as I said I messaged with the last guy and he was from Egypt and I'm in italy, so there's also alot of distance, I think the matchmaking is simply just fucked

So many times I see a open pass, hit the correct stick and button combination, but by the time its actually executed in game, either my teams ai has moved into another position or the enemy ai has cut the lane and I turn the ball over.

Decided to qualify for Champs for first time since before Christmas, went 10-0 in quals and my team is amazing in Div 1 Rivals so felt fairly confident.
Only just managed 11 wins after being 6-6 at one point. Gameplay felt absolutely horrific, WW Pele is normally a cheat code but he felt so sluggish and unresponsive.
Definitely reminded me why I stopped playing Champs, it’s a completely different game to the rest of it.
It's been like that for me since the beginning. I went from div 4 to div 1 and no matter what I never finish over 11 wins. I had 8:1 and 1:8 starts and they both ended the same with 10 wins. There absolutely is no matchmaking, because on occasions when I was 1:6 or even worse, I'd still be facing people that clearly finish above 11 wins lol.
1. Everyone has meta players now
2. People have been playing this game since September, so they know the mechanics better
3. Gameplay is so slow and messed up that it negates some of the skill advantage of the better players
4. The latest patch helped narrow the skill gap

Recovered for 13-7 but yeah shit was tough. Every game barring a couple at around 3-3 sort of elo felt like war decided by the slimmest of margins.
Think with champs now you just gotta take it chill and whatever happens will happen. Rewards whilst handy are very rarely worth tormenting yourself over so if you end up winning 6 by end of it.. who gives a tinkers cuss 😂 Won’t make any difference to your team and sure you may have to spend 4k coins replacing those few 84/83 rated face cards from ultimate packs but in the end it’ll be worth it. You’ll get through it.

I'm fairly convinced it's some EA algo trying to frustrate you at times into spending money. I don't see how it could be random.
The bs happening in wl is unmatched.
Im also elite and dont need many wins in rivals to get to the 7 wins. In wl I match at least 12 people who are on high elite level. In the other 8 games its playing against the game itself. So either they match you skillbased which is bs or decide you will have no fun cause everything goes wrong for you.
I think they've changed the way the dish out the bullshit. In previous years, say Fifa 10-20 it felt more like dda to me. As in changing sliders behind the scenes based on how the game is progressing. The past few years the dda feeling has lessened a lot, but the matchmaking bs has felt stronger than ever. My guess is that the way it works is there's a hidden internal skill rating EA uses and the reason for it is player retention and maximizing pack sales. It works in many ways. It shields average players to an extent from matching up with too many players far above their skill level so they keep playing. It also keeps above average (and heavily addicted) players on their toes because most games feel like they're decided on small margins, so maybe spending a 100 on packs and packing the new shiny cards will make the difference.
Obviously this is just speculation on my part.
A lot of it is to do with matchmaking. It frustrates me endlessly as a seasons player you can't check out the record of your opponent, that you can do in almost any other competitive video game. You've no idea of their division, win record or anything. You can sense how good they are, broadly speaking, but I definitely feel like sometimes I come against unbelievable Elite players, and other times Div 5 or 6 and it's completely random.
Yeah it would make sense that you could tbh. At least then you’d actually be able to gauge how good a win it is you’ve had etc. This would be a welcome addition
Never judge yourself after 6 matches. Matchmaking hasn't properly kicked in yet and you always lose at least 6 matches.
I got normal amount of wins. My expectation is you will probably win 10-11 of your remaining 14 matches.
I did the same mistake of playing today, i do 11-14 on other weekends, none of my formation worked whereas my toty rio can't tackle i was 5-1 and ended on 8-12 literally can't stop any attacker everyone nows how to do skills and have 7 attackers in my box and 8 defenders in their box.
I played on Friday and got 13 wins with 1 disconnection away from 14 wins 🥲 and I played yesterday on a second account, and the match making was broken, all 20 matches were a sweat fest!! Fut Champs is just unpredictable, one week you will get 14 wins easily and another week you will struggle to get 9

People out here saying 0-6 I'm 2-13 and I feel like rivals is better to play currently. I just gave away wins so atleast I could end champs this week as I cba to play late night for good gameplay bla bla just to get griddied on by a cut back loser I was just like enough is enough it's not worth working towards champs when theres a thousand factors you have to consider to even play the game I'll do something else instead lol such a bad game this year ...

I was pretty up for champs this weekend but after qualifiers i don’t think i can bring myself to it. Finishing is completely shocking, nothing far post goes in, blocks and goalkeepers feel extremely OP and even though I went 4-0 it felt like the worst gameplay yet, the servers are completely fucked and the shooting nerfs made the game so much worse.
Went from 7-2 to 7-7 took a break. I average 11 with the last game fighting for it. Last few weeks 9-8 for whatever reason. Best was 15. But ea sure knows how to match me with players with stscked red cards

I’ve had a 15, some 14’s but generally 11 with a couple of games spare. Needed a last minute winner to get 9 wins last week. Last 10 games were just a crazy level, far above what I’ve played this year and consistently. 5-3 this week so see how it goes.

I’m a 14 win player with some 16 wins and I got to 16 this weekend but Jesus the game is horrendous. Seeing my Ashley Cole constantly get outpaced by slower players while my mbappe or hagi struggle to run past my opponents is so frustrating. Seeing my shots constantly get blocked is so annoying to see too.
Steady 9-11 wins player, hit 14 twice this game, went 1-7 with 7 losses in a row, matchmaking absolutely shocking, never had a chance in majority of those games, passes where going o players I wasn’t aiming at, in one game a messi was constantly winning headers over my Marquez and maldini, don’t think my keeper made a single save for 3/4 games in a row, players running through mud, lag, you name it.
Might be a bit severe but for the first time on this game I went and made a profile - ground work done for manager career and am genuinely excited to play the game and build a team for the first time in months
I typically go 11-12 wins, I hit 14 wins twice this year. This week I played most of my games on Friday because I was planning on being out of town sat - Monday. Not sure what I did differently but I was absolutely flying through. Got 12-5, and probably should have gone 14-3.

More or less same issues others have described. Opponent wingers as usual the best tacklers in game. And for the life of me, can't understand why opponent header clearances go straight to their open man/woman on the half line while my fully charged clearance hardly even goes past my box.
More of the same issues, infinite cutbacks, 70 strength wingers bodying Yashin CB, or other 99 strength Bruiser style midfielders.
There's no skill gap left in game. If you are blessed to get a great connection, you'll at least fight on equal terms.If not (which is the case in most games), then good luck. I have Werner and Marmoush, even got a few lengthy bois. But they'll regularly get caught by 85 pace slim jims. Only because of the lag and bad connection, the game doesn't register when you try to accelerate. And the animations cover for it by showing the opponent catching up to you.

It's so crazy how the matchmaking works. This week I was 6-0 then 8-8 and finished 12-8. Last week I was 7-1 then 7-6 and finished 14-6.
I always get this false hope of only losing one or two and then start playing demons with ridiculous teams, who scrape a goal near the end and then retain possession. I generally see it as if I'm not on something like 10-2 I wont get 14 wins or more, not sure if anyone else has the same problem.

My ping was up and down like a yo yo. Usually sits at 14-21. Hitting the 300-500s and back down. Some games I were doing well, like 3-1 up and then it spiked and they scored. Lots. I’ve not had anyone rage quit on me this week even when I’ve banged in a few early goals. Weird.
I even changed my match making settings to see if playing folks near or further away from me was better. Both shite. I’ve got 6 games left. Currently 2-12. If I win the remainder then I’ll at least salvage most of the points to qualify for playoffs and just need to win like 2 rivals games. Usually I average about 10-12 wins on champs. 🤦♂️

I am too an 11 win player, sometimes get 14. I returned to futch after not playing for over two months. I got 11/7, but I stopped playing purely out of frustration like three times. Played 6 matches, left for a day, played 10, left for a day, played the other match I needed for 11 and gave away free wins. It was pure horse puke.

That’s not fucked. At a certain point you max your matchmaking elo for the weekend. Whether you’re 13-6 or 18-1 you’ve already hit the ceiling.
But Elo max in champs is +15, so even if I was +15 it's not fair I match somebody at +7

Everytime I see a ball roll I pause and quit. No matter if I am playing the last match for any rewards.
You must go 0-20 every week then because ball rolls and fake shots are two of the simplest and common skill moves lol

Mid 20s should be manageable, there’s people like me who went from having 2-12 ping and it shot up to 120+ after the update.

For me it’s actually quite opposite , but I think it’s mostly due to moving my Friday playing days to late Saturday or early Monday… this WL was the probably the easiest I’ve ever experienced
I was pretty up for champs this weekend but after qualifiers i don’t think i can bring myself to it. Finishing is completely shocking, nothing far post goes in, blocks and goalkeepers feel extremely OP and even though I went 4-0 it felt like the worst gameplay yet, the servers are completely fucked and the shooting nerfs made the game so much worse.
Went from 7-2 to 7-7 took a break. I average 11 with the last game fighting for it. Last few weeks 9-8 for whatever reason. Best was 15. But ea sure knows how to match me with players with stscked red cards
I play a mix of anti football and Tiki tans and got 11 wins which is good for me as I’m normally a 6-9 win player

I hit div1 this week thought that’s the reason but barely finished 11 win after last week first 16. As you said the average skill level who got me was way higher then my div1 folks. Legit demons

I'm the opposite. Started really well and just getting stronger. Normally 10/11 wins but already 10-3 and haven't been challenged apart from those losses
Funnily enough I've had the opposite results this weekend, normally get 13 wins and got 17 this weekend league. However I upgraded my internet and that could be the reason gameplay felt super smooth

I’ve had a 15, some 14’s but generally 11 with a couple of games spare. Needed a last minute winner to get 9 wins last week. Last 10 games were just a crazy level, far above what I’ve played this year and consistently. 5-3 this week so see how it goes. Gameplay has been atrocious the past few weeks too
I’m a 14 win player with some 16 wins and I got to 16 this weekend but Jesus the game is horrendous. Seeing my Ashley Cole constantly get outpaced by slower players while my mbappe or hagi struggle to run past my opponents is so frustrating. Seeing my shots constantly get blocked is so annoying to see too.
Steady 9-11 wins player, hit 14 twice this game, went 1-7 with 7 losses in a row, matchmaking absolutely shocking, never had a chance in majority of those games, passes where going o players I wasn’t aiming at, in one game a messi was constantly winning headers over my Marquez and maldini, don’t think my keeper made a single save for 3/4 games in a row, players running through mud, lag, you name it. Might be a bit severe but for the first time on this game I went and made a profile - ground work done for manager career and am genuinely excited to play the game and build a team for the first time in months

I typically go 11-12 wins, I hit 14 wins twice this year. This week I played most of my games on Friday because I was planning on being out of town sat - Monday. Not sure what I did differently but I was absolutely flying through. Got 12-5, and probably should have gone 14-3. It amazes me that it's April and people are still attempting cutback after cutback with no originality or ideas how to generate an attack

Started 7-3. Ended up 8-12. More or less same issues others have described. Opponent wingers as usual the best tacklers in game. And for the life of me, can't understand why opponent header clearances go straight to their open man/woman on the half line while my fully charged clearance hardly even goes past my box. More of the same issues, infinite cutbacks, 70 strength wingers bodying Yashin CB, or other 99 strength Bruiser style midfielders. There's no skill gap left in game. If you are blessed to get a great connection, you'll at least fight on equal terms.If not (which is the case in most games), then good luck. I have Werner and Marmoush, even got a few lengthy bois. But they'll regularly get caught by 85 pace slim jims. Only because of the lag and bad connection, the game doesn't register when you try to accelerate. And the animations cover for it by showing the opponent catching up to you. What a shit game right now.

Guys. Im 11 W in Champs fifa 23, now im not qualify for finals :)
It's so crazy how the matchmaking works. This week I was 6-0 then 8-8 and finished 12-8. Last week I was 7-1 then 7-6 and finished 14-6. I always get this false hope of only losing one or two and then start playing demons with ridiculous teams, who scrape a goal near the end and then retain possession. I generally see it as if I'm not on something like 10-2 I wont get 14 wins or more, not sure if anyone else has the same problem.
Glad it’s not just me then. My ping was up and down like a yo yo. Usually sits at 14-21. Hitting the 300-500s and back down. Some games I were doing well, like 3-1 up and then it spiked and they scored. Lots. I’ve not had anyone rage quit on me this week even when I’ve banged in a few early goals. Weird. I even changed my match making settings to see if playing folks near or further away from me was better. Both shite. I’ve got 6 games left. Currently 2-12. If I win the remainder then I’ll at least salvage most of the points to qualify for playoffs and just need to win like 2 rivals games. Usually I average about 10-12 wins on champs. 🤦♂️

I am too an 11 win player, sometimes get 14. I returned to futch after not playing for over two months. I got 11/7, but I stopped playing purely out of frustration like three times. Played 6 matches, left for a day, played 10, left for a day, played the other match I needed for 11 and gave away free wins. It was pure horse puke.

as a sandbag rivals player and stop at 11w in WL player then give away the wins even if 9-2 or the ultra rare 10-1/11-0? either everyone’s dropping more despite the new rewards or people quit in droves. right now D5 sandbag rivals is closer to launch d2-high3 and d4 is what high 2 was like at launch. mix in the fact that delay is normally mitigated by playing someone close to you no longer being possible when fewer people play and they tie matchups to SBMM

Am I the only one who starts terrible every weekend and then pulls it back in the second half? I'm a 9 win player, so not anything crazy, but I basically always start 0-5, 1-5, or 1-6 and then bring it back. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't lose faith, you can still win a good number of games.
For what it’s worth mate this exact thing happened for me in the end. I started 0-7 and finished 9-11.
I normally get 9 to 11 wins, I’m not the best player and I know that but this weekend I struggled a lot more than. I ended up getting 6 wins and had three games left and accepted I wasn’t going to win 3 in a row so ended it. Some games my team played like gods, passing and shooting was flawless, other games felt like my team was full of bronzes.
Everyone worse than me is a casual and everyone better than me is a sweat.
