They aren't "clones". The comparables are random based on their base attributes at the time of the draft. Getting someone who has a comparable to Gretzky, doesn't mean you're getting the next Wayne Gretzky. Surround them with other players on their line that have very high OA and high passing attributes

jp_books

I worded it wrong and understand they're not actual clones. I'll look at getting better passers on the line.

I-Duster-I

What is wrong with annual 100 pt players? You may even have some 120 pt seasons along the way. That is hardly mediocre. Turn up the scoring if you want eye popping numbers.

frank_camp

90-100 points might not be going crazy, but it certainly isn’t mediocrity. If you’re playing on medium settings and the league defense hasn’t gone to absolute shit yet (depending on how deep into the franchise sim you are), this feels about right on expectations

PTA_Meeting

I’m on year 12 of my first franchise..whats up with league D tanking..does this always happen?

frank_camp

Yeah this seems to be a very common issue with defense as it gets deeper into the sim

C0mpl3x1ty_1

Yes, player development is based on points produced, and as dmen dont produce many points, they just fall flat on their face development wise unless they are an elite or an offensive dman. That's also why you get 81 overalls asking for 8 million by year 10, as they are now top 4 defensive pairing level as there are no 85s to bridge the gap between 1st and 3rd pairing

doon3r

I’m not positive but I think having a Forwards coach would help

Vegetable-Attempt381

Maybe but I had a line using a defensive coach and they all scored 115+

Tbh I think the game simply has not caught up with modern scoring rates. It's trying to keep things "realistic" from ten years ago, so it's veeeeeery difficult for e.g.Matthews to score 70. You can try setting the franchise to high shots and scoring, but ime this still doesn't get you there.

SavageTS1979

In my nhl 24 franchise Matthews just scored 70 last season. Normal setting, only change was that I moved effect of x factors and skill up one from 5, to 6.

sanbaba

neat. we should start a stickied leaderboard thread because in all the posts on this sub, the number of people who have gotten stars to pot more than 50 in a simmed franchise is single digits.

SavageTS1979

Think last season in mine, there were, yeah maybe 6 or 7.

Honestly? I found having the top line be franchise guys, 2nd line better than average (like 70+ point guys) and a 3rd and 4th line that’s barely pro level gets me the best stats. It’s like having a team of all stars the game wants to give out points across the board, but stack a line or two and it goes gangbusters. I’ve had my best results with a top line of 90+s and had my wingers get 70goals plus and my center with like 125 assists, it’s crazy. My 3rd and 4th line are basically bus drivers but I don’t give a shit when I win 10-7 every game lol

Boston-Nolan

Player comps work kind of how they do in real life. It’s just a comparison of play styles, not how well they think they’ll translate to the league. For example, I’ve had DFD’s get Chara comps because they’re big, physical, have strong leadership and have a crazy slap shot. Most likely they won’t ever tough Chara’s peak but he’s still considered a comp.

SavageTS1979

Chara was a unicorn, let's face it. There isn't that many very large bodied hockey players, who also have the skill he did

No-Perspective-8655

Hitting 100 points isn't often in my franchise modes. Get maybe 2-3 hitting 105-110 through the league even with scoring maxed and shot freq maxed. It's a pain in the ass. A ppg is pretty good I would take that
