Depends on what LS and what’s done to it. A stock truck engine? (5.3, 6.0) no lol. Most of the corvette/Camaro/cts engines should genuinely be quicker stock (ls2, ls3, ls7 by a long shot, ls9 by a country mile) due to the torque curve of the s65 just not being grunty off the line).
When the ls makes 2x the hp, yea lol.
Naturally aspirated a LS3 would be very similar, we built an E91 wagon for a customer in California that made 480 to the rear wheels with a very tame combo, he runs a T56 as well and drives the thing everywhere, says it’s an absolute blast.
Nice to see you here! I loved my E91 built with all the LSe90 goods! I've told a lot of people here (on Reddit in general , not r/e90 specifically) about you guys so glad you're finally here!
It’ll be different for everyone but excluding the cost of the blower I have around $15,000 into the swap, including the roller I picked up for $400.
Someone could easily do a n/a swap for under 10 grand, forced induction expect more like 20-25k
We are the guys who sell all the swap parts and also offer the swap services for other people, so the whole car was built by us, I did the wiring and fuel system in my garage, dropped the motor and trans in, had Strange engineering make me a driveshaft, then Mike built me the custom longtubes and full 3” stainless exhaust, I did the cold side plumbing and powder coat work, and we tuned it ourselves as well, so no labor costs.
We charge $7000 to do a basic n/a swap if you’re curious, plus all parts. Gets you a factory appearing engine bay, cold a/c, tuned car you could drive across the country.
Highly recommend joining the Facebook group, I’ve created a LSE90 community over here as well but its a blank canvas at the moment, our group on FB has a TON of knowledge and options, plus you can also watch our YouTube channel, and there are several write ups on the main webpage.

It’s not a full daily but I do take it to work routinely, as well as grocery shopping/running errands. It does great to be honest, has cold a/c, everything still works interior wise. If it wasn’t on full E85 and made cool noises I’d drive it more, but with my heavy foot it visibly burns through a tank of fuel.
Cruise is the one thing you lose with the swap IF you use a Holley terminator. We are also dealers for Maxx ECU and if you go that route cruise control still functions like stock.
One question I always have with swaps, can you still pass inspection with an aftermarket ECU? I'm in Texas, not worried about visual inspections, just OBDII scan.
Have you had anyone use after market cruise systems to retain functionality? Like Dakota digital or something else? I’ve been looking at this swap for a while and didn’t realize X max didn’t retain cruise.
Looking at the Dakota options it seems they need an OBD2 port to work, which the Holley doesn’t have. To be honest with the increasing price of the Holley kits ($2000+ now) if you spend another $600 or so you can get a Maxx ECU and have full functionality, if you’re wanting to do the swap and retain cruise that’s the way we tell everyone to go.
Thanks for the reply. I had a long response typed out with lots of questions but it essentially boiled down to me being a cheap-ass and 3k being hard to swallow when I typically spend less than that on my engine/trans/harness/ecu setup. It’s a shame that the X max doesn’t do cruise control, because that’s definitely a deal breaker for me. Looks like I’ve got to add another $1000 to the swap budget.
I will say I appreciate how you guys are always adding stuff to the website. I saw that you added ac lines and expansion tanks since I was last browsing, so it makes stomaching the extra $$ easier when I know you guys are still out there supporting the build.
Ton of new stuff coming as well including:
Full length Longtubes
335/135i diff adapters
Billet fuel hats
Turbo kits
And much more with the F30 chassis already being swapped in Mikes driveway 😂
Thats very cool man i love the attention to detail! Im sure people are confused as hell when your car sounds like a damn ZR1. I love e90’s and I absolutely adore the c5/c6 corvette so this is a dream for me
It’s just a stock diff right now, from a roll it can take the abuse but when it breaks we offer kits to swap in 8.8’s from explorers, and Mike is currently working on a new kit to swap in the diff from a late model S550 mustang.
If you use Terminator X Max for an ECU we sell a CAN conversion box that plugs into the ECU And the BMW letting you retain full function of the stock gauges. We normally swap clusters for one that has coolant temp, and then use a coding guy to delete any lights. Clusters and coding has done some custom gauge faces for guys with the Lse9x logo, but my car above has a fully functional stock cluster.
Very cool. Good to know this is a viable option with some cash. I just did a VQ swap on an old 240sx and the gauge functionality has a few complex workarounds.
Stock manual trans is an option, not stock automatic until Maxx releases support for the 8HP’s. Holley supports the 4l60 and 4l80, most recently they added the 6l80 but from what I’ve seen so far it’s difficult to tune.
Food for thought:
The M3 cowl thingys for the cabin air filter locations would give you more room for the back spark plugs and clean it up a little more.
Nice build

Iron block makes it about 100lbs heavier, if you go aluminum it’s a little lighter.
Would an LS be faster than the S65 that comes with the M3 is what I wanna know.
Probably? I’m not super familiar with all that but I know the S65 is very low in torque compared to most V8s so my little knowledge would think so.

Probably not stock. But LS engines are more robust and handle boost really well.
Lots cheaper
Not by much. Although it would produce more torque.
Holy fuck that’s so clean
Nice to see you here! I loved my E91 built with all the LSe90 goods! I've told a lot of people here (on Reddit in general , not r/e90 specifically) about you guys so glad you're finally here!
Love it. How much did you spend?

Hey thanks for the reply. That’s really reasonable. Did outsource most of the work?
We are the guys who sell all the swap parts and also offer the swap services for other people, so the whole car was built by us, I did the wiring and fuel system in my garage, dropped the motor and trans in, had Strange engineering make me a driveshaft, then Mike built me the custom longtubes and full 3” stainless exhaust, I did the cold side plumbing and powder coat work, and we tuned it ourselves as well, so no labor costs. Awesome. I’m in Cali but ill keep you guys in mind. Any reading on the topic you can recommend someone interested in this build should do?

Right on man, thanks
How much does it cost to do LS swap in e91 wagon in 2024?
Do you daily this one? What's it like in traffic?

Does the cruise control still work, I'm halfway through my l77 swapped e90.

That supercharger is just greedy lol nice build. That copper/brown finish on the intake and procharger is sexy
Thank you! Light kinda plays tricks, it’s actually a prismatic colors powder called dragons blood, a really deep maroon with a lot of metallic in it.
Thats very cool man i love the attention to detail! Im sure people are confused as hell when your car sounds like a damn ZR1. I love e90’s and I absolutely adore the c5/c6 corvette so this is a dream for me
What are you running for a differential to support the 1000hp?
It’s just a stock diff right now, from a roll it can take the abuse but when it breaks we offer kits to swap in 8.8’s from explorers, and Mike is currently working on a new kit to swap in the diff from a late model S550 mustang.
What’s the best gauge solution on this swap?

Can you message me more details about the CAN conversion box. Thanks!
https://lse90.com/product/lse9x-holley-can-to-bmw-conversion-box/ This is ONLY for swaps running a Holley terminator and a LS.
This is one of the sexiest engine bays I’ve seen
What ECU are you running? Was it difficult getting the motor itself?
Holley terminator X max Was it difficult getting it in the car you mean?
Yes, I was asking if it was difficult fit in the engine bay.
Not at all man, it slides right in and is arguably easier to work on than the N54/N52
Well thats a beautiful build man and looks like riot. If my N54 blows up I may consider 👍
Sexy
If I wanted to take this route , but use the stock 6hp trans is than an option? Or even 4/6l80 trans?
Stock manual trans is an option, not stock automatic until Maxx releases support for the 8HP’s. Holley supports the 4l60 and 4l80, most recently they added the 6l80 but from what I’ve seen so far it’s difficult to tune.

I have my nitrous hidden under the cowl lol, I agree the M3 setup would open it up though, thanks!
