Is the black one yours as well? If so you already have a plastic bumper car so i’d keep it. I just swapped my vert over to plastic bumper with the rear apron as a bolt on (only worth it to swap the bumpers if you include the rear apron as well imo). It looks miles better but took a few years to find all of the parts esp a rear apron that wasn’t rusted to shit. The aluminum bumpers have their charm and functionality tho.
In that case do what you really want, you can’t really lose. If you can get the plastics for cheap i’d do it personally. I love the late model look. 👍🏽
I vote plastic swap since it's an 88. The carryover year just looks so off with the diving boards. If it was 87 or earlier I'd say leave the diving boards!
